FrameMaker

We have a user using FrameMaker (FM) 2019/2017 that has issue reading files from SharePoint 2019 (on-prem) document library.  The issue is that when trying to read the file(s) on SharePoint 2019 from FM  client, the files is not able to render on FM.  However, the same steps to read file on SharePoint 2013 it has no issue - able to render the *.fm file on FM.  

I have created an EDD based on the FM Structured EDD Development Workbook.  This includes elements like Chapter, Title, Section, Para, Warnnote, Item, Footnote, Table, and more.  However, I can't create a book.  The structure view displays the highest level element as NoName and each file as BOOK-COMPONENT. The NoName element shows that FM does not know which part of the structure should be applied. The book I'm reading has practice files that are already structured.  However, I can't find these practice files due to a broken link so I have been practicing with copies of existing files.  Please give advice as I have an existing manual I need to make an EDD for but am stuck. The structure view shows:  V   NO NAME||----BOOK-COMPONENT ..... Chap 1 ----BOOK-COMPONENT..... Chap 2 ...etc  

We have started using a custom marker to create revision highlights sections for our books.   I would like to find out if it is possible to clear out the markers between revisions.   In addition to the custom marker used for revisions, we are using two other types of markers to denote regulatory references.   As a result, we don't want to clear all markers, just the custom one.  Is there a method to accomplish this?  

Hi all, I want to access to Framemaker Spelling Checker properties. Manually, when we go to Edit -> Spelling Checker -> Options, we can change them but is there a way to access and change them programatically? Thanks in advance

I have been trying few python libraries to read data from a PDF made using FrameMaker. I am able to fetch hyperlinks that point to external public web pages. But I am not able to find the hyperlink URI for cross reference links. I have a weird problem with a book in FrameMaker 2020. It is a book with multiple chapters, and the footer in each chapter has a "<$curpagenum> of <$lastpagenum>" ("5 of 20" for instance).While the counter works ok on the first page of the last chapter counting "5 of 20", the first page in the first chapter which should count "1 of 20", counts 1 of 5The chapters numbering properties seem to be correct in the book with the first files page numbering starting at 1 and the following chapters/page numbers being set to "continue". For some reason the first chapters <$lastpagenum> does not reflect the books total number of pages even if I have updated the book.I must be overlooking something... but what?

Variable Page Count has it's quirks: When the book files use "Continue Numbering From Previous Chapter in Book" then the variable increases from file to file, because it just takes the value from the last page. It can not be used to sum up in the other cases, because it is formatted (how to sum up V + VII + IX...?) Hi All,I have FM documents with links generated using Hypertext (message url). These links work perfectly in FM, but do not work in the PDF documents I generate from the FM documents.By contrast, the conversion does not break cross-references. These continue working in PDF.I have checked the optimization options and that didn't help. Can someone help me please? I'm using FM 2019 15.08.979. TIAAviva 

I am a beginner, trying to get to grips with the Framemaker demo. How can you set up guides and get things snapping to them? I found instructions on a non-Adobe site saying that you create guides by dragging from a ruler, but that doesn't work.

The equations remained recognized as text.            For Export to PDF/XPS - There was a single setting that I could try(Optimize for Image Quality), but again, the equations were not being recognized as images. I have an equation-laden document that I am writing. The equations are being created in a Word doc (.docx) using Word's native equation editor. The .docx file is then saved as an .htm/.html file and all the equations in the document are automatically saved as .pngs in a separate folder named as image.(n), where n is the image number.  I double-click an equation in this folder to automatically open the equation in my image editor (SnagIT - I don't need anything as heavy as Photoshop as I am not doing any modifications to the equations) and save the equation without any changes to it whatsoever with a new name. I then import the image into Framemaker byreference.   I don't mess w/ the dpi of the image when I select it forimport - any image in the folder that was created during the saving of the Word file shows a dpi of 96 in the Imported Graphic Scaling dialog box when I select it for import and although this seems nutty to me (because none of the images are over-sized). .

When i export to pdf and open the document in microsoft edge the contents is out of order, i am trying to correct this. My 130+ page document uses disconnected pages. I use stand-alone table of contents in the document. Any help is apprichiated.Mircosoft Edge & Chrome Screenshots 

We just moved from Frame 2017 to 16.0.2.916 (whatever that means). I opened one manual's book file, opened all the files in the book, and printed the book to PDF using Adobe Acrobat. About half way through the list, frameMaker closed abnormally but it did produce a PDF file to that point.Has this happened for anyone else?

Is there a way to combine the two generated lists on one page? 

I am building DITA documents in FrameMaker 2019. The hierarchy in the DITA map is not being reflected in the PDF output I generate. Hi, I have generated a TOC for the book, but the hyperlinks are not working for some chapters. These are chapters I have changed the file name. I created another book but they don't work either.  

I noticed some files have colors such as color24, but some files have just a few available. How can I add more colors to a file or have the same in all?  Thanks

I am publishing my FrameMaker book to Responsive HTML5 output. The images display in the HTML output, but images within the same section are overlapping each other. Also, text from the next style is displaying on top of the image.  Has anybody run into this? My images are inserted in Anchored Frames. I have played around with various insert settings, but none of that seems to make a difference. Thanks in advance for any insight. 

I work in a department in which we produce financial factsheets that are imported into Structured FrameMaker 11 in order to produce the formatted documents. Currently, we are working in FrameMaker 11 (Structured). Because this version is no longer supported by Adobe, we are considering upgrading to the either FrameMaker 2019 or to FrameMaker 2020. What has your experience been with these versions? Are the any bugs that we should be aware of? Are there  any software enhancements in these versions that you recommend? Are we safe to upgrade from Adobe FrameMaker 11 to either of these versions, or should we update the versions incrementally? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks. Brenda

I am exporting my structured .fm files to XML and we see bold format is not working in the XML file. is there any way to automate the bold format? by mapping it for XML conversion? or any other way... We have 3000+ pages ..so wherever we have used bold format is not appearing in the XML file...it would be helpful if we succeed in automating this P.sI am a technical writer and not much experience in mapping elements or making code changes. so precise explanatio would be very helpful.

Hi All, I am trying to open 64 bit Framemaker file which is located on my local system through a 64 bit C++ app. I am having FrameFDK libraries on my local system as well.I am able to open Framemaker  application from the code.One of the file in the library “Fapi.h” has a method “F_ApiWinConnectSession” which actually create a Framemaker session for the file to open up inside the Framemaker app.The above method will return “0” as return value if the session has been created successfully and the file will open up. But I get a return value as “-20” and the file is not opening within Framemaker app.
