In the framemake interface the standard menus like File Edit Insert Format.... the font is too small. How do I increase it?
Hello,I would like to set the space between the footnote number and the text of the note. How to set it in order that when I create a new note it will keep the same setting ?
I want to add a leader to my mini TOC so that the page numbers are right-aligned. I've added a tab stop to the relevant Paragraph Style (Heading1MTOC style), but that doens't change the formatting. I've tried deleting and re-creating the mini TOC and changing the tab position, but nothing works. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Any ideas on how I can add the leader? I'm using FrameMaker 17. What I have: What I want:
I'm looking at a manual made in structured FrameMaker and I am a bit out of my league here. The book file holds a number of TOC's. I'm trying to figure out how these TOC's are put together. I can create a stand alone TOC by defining elements to include, but the TOC file I generate seems to break the structure in the book. And I am not able to insert an element in the books structure. Trying to so just doesn't call up the elements dialogue. Anybody who can point me in the right direction?
Is it possible to customize shortcut keys?
There are blank pages at the end of several of my documents. I cannot delete them in FrameMaker. Or, it might appear that I have, but when I generate a pdf from the documents the blank pages come right back. First I tried Format/Document/Delete Pages. This dialog appears: I select "Delete," and presto! Page disappears! Great, right? NO. As soon as I save my work, the page reappears. So I did a little research, and tried the following. Format/Page Layout/Pagination:From the "Before Saving and Printing" dropdown menu, I select "Delete Empty Pages" and hit "Set." Bravo! No more blank pages! Yay! Solved! Sorted! Mystery SOLVED! Nope. I generate the pdf and...Blank pages are BACK, in all their glory. HOW DO YOU DELETE BLANK PAGES IN FRAMEMAKER? This should be the simplest, easiest, most obvious, accessible and elementary task in what claims to be such a robust, industry-standard of an application. I swear to all that is holy in this world, if s
Chapter in Book TOC is not clickable. How can I make it clickable?
I am trying to get a TOC to generate based off of a number of elements in a structured FrameMaker document pulling from an XML file. Currently, I don't have a book with separate chapters, rather the chapters are an element I have created in the EDD. When I build my TOC, I have not had any luck with other building blocks other than the standard <$elemtextonly> and <$pagenum>. I would like to pull an attribute from the Chapter element that includes the chapter number into the TOC, but I can't find any way to write the building block that would make this work. I have tried <$attribute[TaxSort]> where TaxSort is the chapter number, and I think I have tried various alterations of the above, but it just prints the text rather than pulling the chapter number. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of which building blocks can be used in which contexts? I have run into this issue in other situations where I try a building block that works in one place but it doesn't tra
Hello,I followed the instructions how to insert video and its poster. In Framemaker it works properly. When I double click the poster, then the media player opens. The MP4 is only 8,4 MB, so nothing big... But I struggle with publishing to PDF.When I do a Save as PDF or Publishing procerude, my Framemaker always freeze like this: Maybe I should do some PDF print setting to export PDF rich content. But I do not know which setting.I use 17.0.3 version I will apreciate any advices. Thank you Adam
Hi all, I'm exporting .fml files into HTML. The exported HTML, for my case is 95% there, but there are a couple of issues that I need help with. The figures in the document (images + their captions) are anchored frames and they're always exported as a single low-resolution image (an image that contains both the figure and its caption). In an ideal world, since the pictures are included as external files, i would get that external file location and caption as text in the HTML. But so far, I wasn't able to that. So I tried a couple of things:- I tried to get the anchored frame id into the target HTML so that I can then pick the remaining anchor info from the mif file, but no luck there. I wasn't even able to get the id into the generated html.- I'm able to programatically set the alt text for the Figure Anchored Frame (I was hoping to write the location of the original image + caption in there), but I cannot get that alt text into the generated HTML- I trie
In previous versions of Framemaker (2017), you were able to select Keep all topics in one folder in the Style Mappping > General Settings. However, in the current Framemaker version this is no longer an option. Is there a work around or another way to accomphish this as the developers need this folder for publishing?
I have added a hypertext command "Jump back to previous link" In FM book. It is working file in FM file but not working in converted PDF file. Please someone explain what can be the possible cause of it.
I'm working on a user guide where some chapters are split across multiple files. Because of that, I need figures and tables to auto-number so any future additions won't affect the numbering across every file. However, when I am adding table information to one of the files, the auto-numbering bugs out to where it goes from table "1" (the first table for the section, but 19 overall for the chapter) to "5", and the auto-numbering won't allow me to correct the sequencing. I even tried adding the tables all at once and add the information after that. The numbering is correct when I first add all the tables, but then the numbering changed as I added information to the first table. I then thought that the first table being across multiple pages is messing with the numbering, but it's only been one section where this is happening to me while everything else has been working correctly. Am I missing something?
Hello, I am working on creating some PDF files which will have some chapters, TOC & Index pages. I have .mif template files ready. What i am looking for is the way where framemaker will create book file and fm file out of XML instead of writing all the contents manually to .mif. Basically I am trying to find some automated way to generate PDF out of xml.
Hi, I have a legit AV and I have a monthly subscription for FrameMaker. I am working on Windows 11. Recently, I received a notification from my AV that a file from Adobe FrameMaker was infected. Does anyone else have the same issue? What shall I do? See the attached screenshot. Since all my applications are licensed I am not using/downloading pirated applications. Quite unusual considering that the file is a file related to the FrameMaker application and not with a third-party application. Any idea is welcome. Sebastian
We are facing the issue of inserting a lengthy code in a Framemaker table. Is there an option to split the table automatically to multiple pages.i.e. After generating the pdf with multiple pages, and if I copy the code, then it must copy only the code and not the other contents of the pdf, like headers, footers, dates and other variables. Thanks in advance.
There is a custom style table that was created by a colleague who’s no longer with the company. I’ve removed the custom style table formatting; however, when I attempt to add the new color to the table header row, the top and bottom portions of that header row will not fill in with the color I’ve selected. I used Pargraph Designer > Advanced tab that gave me the new color blue. I attempted to use Table Desinger > Shading tab to no avail. Does anyone know how I’m able to get the top and bottom portions to fill in with the blue color I selected? See the images below for clarity. Initial color (Gray) for the table header row After adding the blue color to the table header row
Hello there, I want to edit the Danger block (also to add Warning and Attention ones). I want to make them to look like the picture below with the option to write inside: Is it possible to do this with FrameMaker? Thank you! Mariya
Hi, please someone hints how can I increse the size of the word "Chapter" (please refer the image below). I am using standard template (Book > Chapter).
How can I design a cover page of a book in Adobe Frame Maker?
Hello, I did new instalattion on my Win11 and now I am missing the publishing outputs icons (like PDF icon etc.) Thank you for advices. Adam
The unfriendliness of Framemaker is evidenced by this simple question. It's a very simple thing but apparently this takes expert knowledge. Somehow I ended up with and blank page in my Framemaker 9 document and I want to delete it. I have tried right-clicking on the blank page. I have tried Format menu: page layout: pagination... delete empty pages before saving and printing. No luck. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Can anybody help?
FrameMaker 11 and DITA. We have a DITA document with some graphics imported by reference wider than a column. Is there a way to scale the image automatically to fit the column/anchored frame instead of cropping it when opening the document, f.ex in read/write rules? Any help appreciated.
I am working on structured documents using Frame 2019. We are using conkeyrefs on the keyword elements and some ph elements that contains a variable (outputclass-="variable"). In the past, we did not use conkeyrefs and I was able to control the color of the keywords as well as the text within the ph tag (our variable). I would hide the keywords and change the variable text from red (which was specified in the EDD) to black and be on my merry way. Now, with the conkeyrefs, if I add a new ph tag with the variable name and conkeyref, the color is red as I have specified in the EDD but after I select the appropriate ditamap that links the variable values and the taxonomy to the ph tag, the content turns blue and I cannot change it to another color even in the FM files which are used to create the PDF files for print. Unfortunately, the books that I need to produce contain hundreds and hundreds of these keywords and ph tags and the product is well over 1,000 pages. &nbs
Hello, I have a tricky problem, that I would need some help to solve. I have a structured document, that is structured like this: <rootElement> <child><content/> <child><content/> <child><content/> <child><content/> </rootElement> Each child element is an article and needs to fulfill 2 things: 1. have its own continual footnote numbering regardless of page or other child elements. 2. must allow for special cases to only have a star* instead of numerical numbering. What I have tried to solve (1): - Use RWR to split up all child elements into seperate documents, setup numbering and then reference them in a single document again while retaining formats, but FM updates the footnote numbering anyway. For (2) I can only imagine solutions that would require some intense workaround to insert supertext instead of actual footnotes to make it look like a footnote but have more control over what i
