FrameMaker

I have an SGML file that's based on a DTD that was created using another program. I'd like to migrate the SGML file over to FrameMaker.I was wondering:1) How do you convert a DTD to an EDD?2) How do I then create a file that's based on that EDD?3) Can an SGML file be somehow imported into FrameMaker?Thanks,

My Auto Numbering Image Format is working in 3 of my 12 chapers..  and it does not successfully work upon import, but it shows up with the same rules when double checked from FM  to FM.  Any one have this problemAny ideas

When I try to print from a book file to a ps file, the ps file has 0 kb, but no error messages. Frame 11. What can I try to fix this.

Any help is most welcome.Here's my current FM book's layout.For each page, I have 3 main elements in this order from top to bottom.     - An imported GRAPHICS inside an anchored frame.      - Below the anchored frame is the figure CAPTION (e.g. Figure 3. Title of the graphics here).     - Following the caption is some NOTES (description of the graphics)Goal: Insert/Paste the CAPTION of the next page onto the bottom of the current page after the NOTES section.Why: I'm converting from FM to RoboHelp. RH Requires a topic title for each page. Our current template does not have any heading text so I need to copy and paste the figure CAPTION to use as the heading text. How: At the end of each NOTES section of the current page, I like to copy/paste the CAPTION of the next page, with a specific paragraph tag

I used FrameMaker years ago and I always pressed <enter> to display the catalog of styles available at an insertion point. Using FrameMaker 11 now the <enter> key acts like it would in Word, that is, it creates a new paragraph or moves to the next line.Looking in the Adobe Frame user guide, it describes pressing enter to display the catalog also. Is it something they've configured at the place I'm working? Is it possible it's because it's a non-US keyboard? It's Dutch, almost exactly the same as US. Does anyone know how I can configure this in the settings?Thanks in advance,

We use track text edits in our documents (using FM 10). However, we have noticed that when looking for the edits (i.e. by clicking "show next"), it skips over some edited content. Does anyone know why or how to fix this? Thanks!

I hope it's okay to jump in.I have a bit of unstructured FM experience from several years ago and have been using Ventura since (13 years) for my company's books (longish directories--3,000+/volume). I've done some scripts in Ventura so have a little programming experience.We're looking to switch to XML rather than the tagged text files Ventura can import because of its lack of support, problems possibly due to Win7, and the effort needed to maintain the import files. I've downloaded the FM 11 trial and have been experimenting a little with roundtripping XML and also importing what we already have in XML. So a few I'm sure very basic questions; and thanks in advance:I've been going through the Adobe tutorials and whatever else I can find online. I'd like to change all my hypertext links "message openfile xxx.fm" by "gotolink xxx.fm:firstpage". Is there an easy and quickly way of doing that?

Does anyone know of any good structured frame resources?  We are currently using Frame 6 and are looking to upgrade to Frame 11. However, our EDD and DTD seem to be problematic to convert from version 6 to 11 and I am not sure where to start.  Thanks!

Are there any success stories of using Microsoft SharePoint Online Cloud service  and the Technicall Communuications Suite? What were some of the compatability issues? How were they resolved? Are there any issues with using it  behind a firewall?What are the limitations?

Several of the chapters in my document have lost the format. I've tried importing from the chapters that are correct and it's not changing anything.  Grateful for any help..

In FM 10, whenever I open a DITA topic, the Structure View and Element Catalog display options revert to defaults that look cluttered and annoying to me. The Structure View displays all the attributes, and the Element Catalog shows all the element descriptive tags. In the Structure View, I right-click, select Attribute Display Options, and set the display option to No Attributes. In the Element Catalog, I click the Options button and unset the option Show Element Descriptive Tags. Then both windows are simple and uncluttered. When I finish editing my DITA topic, save it, and close it and then open another DITA topic, the Structure View and Element Catalog revert to the cluttered view again. This gets annoying. I looked for preferences to making my preferred views permanent, but I could not find anything in the interface, in the DITA options, in the user manual, or in the maker.ini file. I tried saving the settings as part of my DITA workspace configuration, but the preferences weren't

Hi all,I have converted Fm 7 files to Fm 11 files. Now when i open the files in the Fm project, bullets does not appear and instead of that question mark displays(?).However, when i tried to open the older fm files in fm 11, font is not available window appeared. But font are being replaced by the existing font in all over document except the bullets. bullets are not appearing in the frame maker project as well as in the PDF generated.There are different types of bullets being used in all over the document. PFA sample of FM document file and PDF generated file in which red mark indicated the problem of bullets. I just started to review a document created by our tech writer, and I'm getting error messages.1) ArialMT Font not available2) a whole bunch of print color XXX inconsistent.The tech writer says that no fonts were added and can't explain why all the color inconsistencies exist.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

HI,When i try to convert FM book to pdf, some sort of design are displayed on the main topic pages or chapter pages in the whole document. However, when i convert the other Fm documents to pdf, these designs on the header n footer doenot appear. When validating a document in FM9 i have some issues.If i add an element to the structure that is a text container i can validate the document and the document is showing as valid. This creates a problem as some the of the attributes associated with this document are required are unset and therefore should throw up a validation error. Has anyone came across this issue before?

When using the Spelling Checker, a book crashes with a FrameMaker 10 Internal Error: 10024, 7687720, 7688010, 10076471This is not book dependent. This error occurs with different books, none of which had problems or crashed until now.I'm running Windows XP Prof.SP3Any suggestions as how to fix this?

We are using TCS 4.0 on a Windows 7 system. We create WebHelp and deliver it to clients on a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 platform.We have a client that is asking that we deliver our software and WebHelp on a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 platform.We typically deliver WebHelp centrally--hundreds of users will access the same set of WebHelp files from a centrally-located server.SQL Server 2008 or 2012 doesn't matter to WebHelp, correct?I looked for a platform compatibility discussion on Adobe.com and couldn't find one.  Sorry if I missed it.Thanks!Tim

Hi, I have a set of fm files and Eps files only. When i open that fm files in frame maker manny files are misplaced and EPS graphic doesnot link to frame maker project.  When i try to convert the Fm file to pdf there remains many blank pages in between which contains eps graphics in between.Please provide a proper solution asap.Thanks in advance.Regards,Nutan
