I need to output XML for the 40051C mil spec. Can someone provide an example of how graphics should be output as far as entity references, etc.? Thank you in advance.
Dear friends, I may be blind again - there was ample sunshine today... In this snippet if (oTR.beg.obj.ObjectValid()) { $.writeln(oTR.beg.obj.constructor.name); oFound.object = oTR.beg.obj; At line 3 I get the error "undefined is not an object". Line 2 outputs Pfg - so imho "oTR.beg.obj" is an object. oFound is declared to be an object, as well as oTR is. Where is my knot in t he brain?
Hello,I know that you can use the reference page to save and modify often used graphics. (Insert a graphic on the reference page and give the frame a name -> use the name later in the Paragraph Designer-Advanced function to insert the graphic at the respective position) But is this possible to do the same with a table? I have four types of tables, that occure several times in my document. But I can't figure out how to insert the table on the reference page with some sort of tag, I can later select on the body page.. Thanks in advanceHannah
A few years ago, someone in this community sent me a script that allowed me to convert the imported grapics in a FrameMaker document to embedded. There were actually two scripts, one that selected each graphic one at a time and gave you the option to emded, and one that embedded all imported graphics in one step. Unfortunately, these scripts have been lost. Does anyone know where I can find a script to do this, or the steps to create this script?
Hello. Is it possible to convert FM source files or published output into IDML?Thank you.
Hello everyone,I use a master document which only contains insets. I have trouble with cross references:Module 1 contains a table.Module 2 is to cross reference that table ("see table xy").I opened both files and put in the cross reference. My master document contains both modules as insets. Problem 1: Module 2, in the master document, is referencing "Table 1", while it should be "Table 2". I solved this problem by inserting a cross reference in module 1 to the table in module 1, and then copy that cross reference to module 2. The numbers are now updating correctly. Is there an easier way to do this? Problem 2: FM displays the cross reference in the master document's overview of cross references correctly as far as I can tell: source document is my master document, source page is the page containing the table. Once I save the master document as PDF (via Save as), the cross reference seems to get lost. I can still click on the cross reference, but I am not directed to the refer
Hii does anyone know from where we can get FDK 2020 debug libraries. I downloaded the FrameFDK 2020 from adobe website but debug folder is missing in that.
Lin Sims asked for an option for Paste: Preserve the target formatting. I want to implement this in the script FMfindRepl. So I developed UnformatClipBoard. I needed to circumvent the following problems: After pasting there is no method to find the length of the pasted text range.I need to know this to apply the correct target format. As it turns out that there are no properties defined for the clipboard. I also have not found a method to apply the default paragraph format other than using FCodes. Details for the function listed hereafter: The copied selection must not contain more than one paragraph. Hence the selection must not contain an end-of-paragraph mark. It is not 'looked into' objects. Hence any formatting inside a variable (e.g. font change) or a table or anchored frame is not modified. The screen shot also shows the result from Paste Special > Unicode Text Two additional functions are required: ExecuteFCodes → Message . Edit 2022-06-08:
Hello.Years before we had a trial license of Framemaker to test the useability for us.But we not buy it. Now - we have a customer who have Framemaker and we will check if we cann supprt his documentation. To check this, i would download and install Framemaker Trial again, but Adobe say your Trisl period is over.Sorry - but to decide if we buy Framemaker - we must try it first. What can we do? Who can we ask?Kind regardsRobert
I was experimenting with a pre processing stylesheet for a DITA 1.3 task in the Structured Application Designer and would like to remove it now because it doesn't work, but I can't figure out how to in the dialog box. I tried deleting the path, but it reappears when I open the designer. I have looked in the various structapps.fm files, but the path is not there. How can I revert everything to the default settings?
Hi! I have FrameMaker book with a chapter containing a list of definitions and abbreviations. On the first page of the chapter, I created an alphabet list with links to paragraph cross-references (I created a paragraph style for the start of each letter section) and each letter is a link to that section. It looks like this: It works great and I want to repeat it on every page of the chapter - is this possible in FrameMaker? I know how to do it in the pdf, that's not what I'm looking for. Thanks!Karen
I am creating a FrameMaker structured application where I have to save the content as XML. I am going to apply XSLT on the export. Does the content get validated against the DTD before or after the XSLT transform?
The URLs on the welcome page are not working in FM 2019. If I load the html directly in the browser the external ones work (not the document type references, obviously). Is there some way to fix FM's internal browser app?
I have found it helpful to trigger masterpage usage by defining paragraph types, defining them and the associated masterpage in the reference page map and simply adding a small text box to the page with the required paragraph inserted. Works like a dream, especially for landscape pages. Can someone tell me why this is a bad practice and suggest a better one? 🙂
Here is the output in HRML5Note on the "a" and "b" steps, the first line is indented and not flush. Also, note on the "1" and "2" steps, the first line is flush with the remaining lines in the step. The goal is to have the text in the "a" ad "b" steps flush for all lines of text. Need some imput on how to resolve this issue. Below is style mapping from the CSS file: p.Step:Sub1 { display: list-item; list-style-type: none; list-style-position: outside margin-left:54pt; margin-right:0.000pt; text-align:"."right;
I've spun my wheels a bunch on trying to fix white line artifacts in PDF outputs from FM. From what I've experienced, FM doesn't like when you combined image types. So if you have a raster graphic, add text callouts in a program like Illustrator, export as vector (e.g. SVG), the image in the outputted PDF will have white line artifacts. If you use a purely vector graphic, it seems to not get the artifacts as often. My images all have detailed colors and shading, which means raster is the best format. But the images also have text callouts. It would be ideal to have the text and callout lines as vector and the images as raster. But FM glitches out with this combination. This seems also to be a universal issue across Adobe products, as I've seen threads where people using InDesign also have glitchy artifacts on vector / raster combination graphics. The best method I've found is to export as a high res JPG. The callout lines and text are
I had signed up for this webinar but was prevented from logging in. Was it recorded and, if so, can I get a link? The Adobe Events / Technical Communication site isn't showing previous webinars. ETA: The full title was "3 Content Pillars Every Organization Needs To Be Future-ready"
I'm trying to add a long URL to a bibliography entry. I'd like Frame to just accept what I type without adding hyphenation, space between words, etc. I've tried every option I can think of, em -spaces, etc. No luck.
Hi, I'm having some issues with inserting images into FrameMaker. The default behavior when I click Insert > Image is that the image is blown up to fill the full width of the page. However, my images also contain text callouts, and I don't want FM to autoscale the images because it messes up my text size so that it's inconsistent across images. The best workaround I've found is, in my graphics programs (Adobe Illustrator and SolidWorks Composer), to control the image export so the image has exactly the width of an 8.5 x 11 page. This way, FM's autoscaling behavior doesn't distort the text size. With Adobe Illustrator, when I export my JPG I'm checking the option "Use Artboard" which exports the image using the full 8.5 x 11 artboard white space. Then in FM I resize the graphics frame to crop out the extra vertical white space, as the image pastes in with white space of a full 8.5 x 11 page. An annoyance tho
Man I am on a big role this week!!! I should probably be paying you guys! In my generated Index, I currently have IOMTitleTOC as my paragraph tag for the title Index at the top. In other sections, I have Heading1First for each section heading, and all of those show up in my TOC. The IOMTileTOC disoplays in the TOC, too. However, when I create the PDF, the Index is not in the PDF. So, I changed the IOMTitleTOC to Heading1First. However, the Index itself is two-column and when I changed IOMTitleTOC to Heading1First, the Index title does not break across both columns. It only is displayed in the first column. Can you give me an idea how to make the Heading1First span both columns for the Index title? Thanks! Ken
Hi Smart FrameMaker People: I'm stuck. I have a student using the old chapter numbering: title numbers are defined with H:<n+> vs H:<$chapnum>, which I haven't encountered in years. All the chapters are starting with 1, even after telling the paragraphs to continue numbering from previous chapters in the book window. That used to work, right? So what am I forgetting? ~Barb
I have a requirement that bothers me very much, to extract the text layer of a .fm file. The condition is that Java, C/C++, python can be used. But I can't extract by opening framemaker.I tried to find some relevant Maven packages to extract, but unfortunately none of the relevant packages were found.
On every page of a new topic I have a right-aligned graphic that says TOP. I want to link this graphic to a TOC marker. I have tried to created every marker I can think of for the TOC and have also attempted to create the icon as a hotspot, but the Marker Name does not show up in the Hotspot text field when I select the TOC file. I just want the end user to be able to navigate back to the TOC by clicking on the icon that is on all topic (Heading1First) pages.
Hii, I want to parse the abc.fm file using java so anyone can please tell me which API use to parse the abc.fm file.
Sometimes when we open an XML-file from a book it will not open but generate a lot of errors. I found out that this was caused by the dtd. Some of the element names starting with an upper case are changed to lower case without any reason. For instance "Title" is changed to "title". We did not change the edd or the dtd! If we try to save the edd as a dtd (with the proper names such as "Title"), in the dtd the element name is changed to "title". To make it more strange, this happened only a few times the last couple of years. But is is realy annoying and costs us a lot of time.
