Nearly Impossible to Select Paths in Latest BetaOpen for Voting

Mousing over path elements does not highlight them and selecting them is really difficult by clicking.https://imgur.com/a/cKdemTj When the pointer is over a selectable element, it usually changes to indicate that there’s something beneath it. And you can see it change the pointer a couple of times. But trying to select the lines by clicking on them or around them just doesn’t work.If I drag a marquis around a part of it, sometimes it will select the path. Sometimes, though, it just won’t. I have had to quit Illustrator and go back to an older version because it just doesn’t select paths anymore.It might just be open paths or even paths that came from shape elements. Even after I have selected a path, trying to move it is next to impossible because grabbing it deselects.Also, as noted in the video, sometimes it will select if I grab an endpoint, but not in the middle. Very strange behavior.

I am a university teacher which uses Illustrator for live lectures, where I scribble and draw a lot of graphics and formulas (I teach physics). Illustrator provides me with an excellent tool for the job, as I can mix graphics and images to create very effective slides live, while talking to the student.To achieve better communication, I uses different colors to identify different part of the equations and drawings (e.g. forces, speeds, etc...). It would make it much easier if it were possible to program the stylus button to cycle trough a programmable set of colors, or tools, or brushes.This would allow, for example, to preset a palette of colors, as well as a set of tools like select, brush, line, and circle, covering the entire need for a lesson, making them accessible by simply pushing on the pen buttons. Ideally, side button would cycle one set (e.g. colors), and the top button the other set (e.g. tools). But this is just an example, the idea could cover many more scenarios.This sh

Layer organization is one of the most cumbersome things in Illustrator. I'd like to be able to select a target layer to paste into from another document. It also shouldn't force you to put it into a layer that you purposely locked or not paste it in at all.Also, when I select a layer (with A or V tool) already in the document, I'd like it to open/highlight in the layers panel, so I don't have to scroll forever, looking for a tiny dot, to find it.

Illustrator 2026 (Beta) "Pick color from an object"Not Prioritized

Took me a bit to realize what was happening - whenever I used the new "Pick color from an object" feature (which I love, by the way) it would behave as expected, pick the color I needed, even able to set a fill color with another object's stroke color, vice versa.  But when I clicked OK to set the color and close the color picker window, my color would set to white/off-white.  I thought it was broken and lost hope until I noticed that the color I selected would stick if I hit enter to close the color picker rather than click OK.   The "Pick color from an object" feature remains active until color picker closes, and does not deactivate after selecting the first color, as i was expecting it to.  So it was selecting the pressed/active color of the OK button, setting my color to that gray right before closing the color picker.  (I'm on an older Mac Pro running Tahoe 26.2)

Orphaned Comments - Edge Case Illustrator Bug

I experienced a crash in my original Illustrator file that I had shared with pending comments, and because Illustrator's crash handling is second to none, I picked back up in the [Recovered] file without much thought.   I "Save As"ed the file to delete the appended "[Recovered]" text from the name.  And now it seems I've overwritten the connection to the original file's comments.   It would be cool if in "Manage Share Links" there were some way to either set up  pointers to comment connections for other projects, or merge comments, or something like that. I had just explained to a client trying to confirm that I saw their notes and writing to ask for an up-to-date PDF of the project that "Your link will always remain up to date as I make edits, and my end will always remain up to date as you add comments" and it's kind of a shame that less than an hour later I have to explain "ok, NOW your link will always remain up to date, dont worry".   N
