InDesign

I ran into a problem with InDesign when creating a package to send to a collaborator. Although the packaging process completed successfully, I noticed that some images were missing from the "Links" folder. Has anyone experienced this before or knows why certain linked images might not be included, even if the package was created without any error messages?

Hi! I’ve noticed that QR codes generated with some free online tools have stopped working after some time. Does anyone know if the QR codes created with InDesign’s built-in tool are permanent? Will they continue to work indefinitely?

Help please.The INDD Publish links work but the documents are not showing in dashboard or dropdown to update... so I have to create new links each time I have to edit the file.

I've already had this issue before... InDesign export PDF refuses to export any images. Some are PNG embedded and some are linked PDFs both don't show up. Why does this keep happening?

Hey all 🙂 I'm creating a digital comic book in inDesign.  Does anyone have any information on how to create comic book word balloons for dialogue inside of inDesigne easily? I did see a process for it on YouTube but it was a number of steps.  I'm wondering if there's an easy way to do it or a template that someone has made?   

Things look cool before PDF export but when I view it many of the pages with master overrides have the paragraph styles changed to section headers or they lose some of the object stylings. When I open the ID file they have been changed in the file as well. I had the good sense to save as an idml before the export, after the first time this arose, and those appear to be unaffected.But how do I give my client a proof???? I know it's Friday and late, but I committed to working the weekend and hoping someone can help!Working with ID 2018, the last upgrade I could do on my 2011 Mac. Thanks in advance!

Quelle est la police à utiliser et quelles sont les spécificités à connaître ? I have an old book I need to revise in Indesign 2015, on my computer running 2020(old too) I cannot open file grayed out and just says Adobe document, I have a PDF that I sent printer, but would have to do revisions very piecemeal. I have old 2015 on another macbookpro, but thinking it would upgade automatically, Do they allow two different Versions. How can I open this file?

Hi, I have a wine list menu in InDesign, and another person on our team wants to be able to add notes regarding inventory/stock, but obviously not print those notes for when we distribute to customers. Is there a way we can do that without having to have two versions? I thought about duplicating pages, and then hiding them, but I'm not sure how that would work. Or is there a way to create two copies, but the copy updates based on changes to the main file?

My enterprise InDesign app will not launch on my new computer. It is downloaded, and from the CC control panel it says Open. When I open, it goes launch  until it reaches "Calling Late Initializers" and then up pops a crash report window saying "AdobeInDesign(64bit)" has crashed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both ID and Creative Cloud. I have checked the sync settings and there is nothing to sync (this is a new app for me.) I have rebooted the PC several times. Nothing works.

What is the font to use and what are the specificities to be aware of? It seems that Chinese is written vertically?If you have any information, I'm interested.P.S. Hallo zusammen, ich habe ein Problem mit Broschüredruck. Beim Drucker wird „Adobe PDF“ nicht gezeigt, obwohl ich Adobe PDF installiert habe (siehe Sreenshot). Wenn ich die anderen Drucker wähle, schaut die Farbe der Druckdatei komisch aus.  Früher ging es noch, aber seit ein paar Tagen nicht mehr. Ich habe Indesign und Adobe Acrobat schon mehrmals desinstalliert und installiert habe.  

I shared a number of files for review from InDesign. The reviewer reviewd them and informed me. I am able to access two files and the comments successfully but while trying to access the link of one files I am getting error "Something Went Wrong, Go to files" error. What happens to the edits suggested by my client? Are they gone forever? I will be killed if that happens.

Sempre que abro um projeto, no indesign, para continuar um trabalho aparece o erro de fontes ausentes. Sempre preciso reiniciar o aplicativo várias vezes para ele identificar as fontes, que já possuo, que foram baixas via adobe fonts. Qualquer outra fonte adquirida por outros fornacedores funcionam perfeitamente bem. Somente as fonts do adobe aperecem esse erro. Já tentei muitas coisas, mas nada concerta esse erro. Obs: São projetos que estou trabalahdno a dias e sempre que fecho e abro novamente aparece o mesmo erro.

Avoid hyphenation at the end of a line. And I tried disabling the no hyphenation option, but it doesn't look nice. Can you help me please?

I've used a few tasty GREP expressions that the good folk of this community have helped with over the years, but I must confess I've never grasped it well enough to improvise or create my own...I'm working through a long list of text and have a line of new prices for products in a specific style (let's call it NOW price). I'd like to insert the text 'Now only' at the start of all of these rows. Previously I've added that as bullet text which works a treat on it's own row, but as soon as I place this text onto a new line that will disappear so it needs to be the actual wording 'NOW ONLY' like below.Currently (prices all differ so just an example and there are other prices in the document so I'll apply it only to the style in question):£29.99Should be:NOW ONLY £29.99

Bonjour,  J'ai un petit souci d'objet ancré.À chaque fois que j'ancre un objet (exactement un groupe d'objets), je suis obligée d'aller dans ses parametres pour le placer comme je veux. Je voudrais donc que le paramètre que je veux devienne le paramètre par défaut, mais par moyen de trouver ce genre de préférence dans les paramètres d'Indesign.... Note : Dans ce cas de figure je ne peux pas utiliser les styles d'objets, ce qui limite mes possibilités. 

Hi guys, experts, fellows I've been enjoyed scripting for some time and faced erratic behavior regarding asynchronousExportFile(). The issue :asynchronousExportFile() works usually fine but 1/10th of the time (not sure about the real ratio. just a guess) exports doesn't go through and is stuck at 0% or 99% freezes ID, cursor is spinning constantly etc. Me wondering:Is there a way to "protect" / help / do something to increase the ratio of success? As you know, regular export does prevent us to use ID when exporting. I'm dealing with dozen of files a day, regular export is just not a viable solution.Force quitting ID is annoying, as you have to open it again/ recover the files /save /quit /open again and sometimes even set up again a few things (last shortcuts, Quick-Apply reset etc.) Any thoughts on the matter?Thanks for your personal insight

I will be incorporating photo pages in a nonfiction book (print & ebook) and wonder about best practices for inserting them - individually within a layout or ganged (grouped) into a single image of the layout? Is this the same method for both print and ebook?

I installed the new Indesign 2025 and it has been unsuable (I get the spinning beach ball everytime I try to scroll). So I have gone back to 2024 but now have issues with it crashing and I lost work. Anyone else having big issues with 2024 since the update of 2025? Or anyone know how to solve the 2025 issues so it is actually usable? (I am on a Mac, Apple M1 Max chip, 64 GB memory running Sequoia 15.0.1). Thank you!      <Title renamed by MOD>
