Dear Adobe-Community,I am having repeated issues when trying to import PDF files into InDesign.The error message I receive is: “Trim box is missing or empty.”I have tried to edit the PDF and redefine the page frame in Acrobat, but this was not possible and the error message still appeared. As a workaround, I imported the file into Photoshop and exported it as a TIFF, which worked, but this is not a proper solution.This problem has occurred several times already, especially with PDF files that I did not create myself. Could you please advise what is causing this and how I can resolve it properly?Thank you very much in advance for your support.Best regards,Silke 

We're asking if the following workflow and division of labor is advisable, as it's our most readily available option: Can we execute all needed image aesthetics editing in RGB (mostly B&W architectural images) under our careful eye with our retoucher first, then send the image files to a color corrections color space conversion expert (RGB to CMYK, manual conversions/separations) to manually convert and translate that work accurately to CMYK for high-end offset printing? This is as opposed to having one vendor do it all. We'd place the manual color space convertor's work back into our ID doc and export to pdf using the printer's Fogra 51 profile.Is this division of labor between two parties (a retoucher, and then a color correctionist/separator) before printing not advisable? Ask any clarifying questions.

Using a frame to fit the content seems to only shrink the bottom.I just ran into this problem again today.Double-clicking the box on the right will definitely work.

I only want to shrink the bottom frame without affecting the cropped section on the right. sel.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT); sel.fit(FitOptions.FILL_PROPORTIONALLY);Neither seems to work. Is there a better solution?  

Hello, Sorry if it's not the right place to report what I found to be an issue.I'm working to create a book from a 212 pages PDF PowerPoint presentation. The import work flawlessy. However, not a single image boundy box has the Blue Square to anchor the image in a text. Here in attachment are 4 objects. I've collated 4 screen captures to demonstrate the issue. The bottom one is the one coming from the PDF import. See its bounding box !?!  The there others are tests I made to try understanding the situation.   If I group two PDF imported images together, the grouping becomes normal again. As a work around, I have to "reveal in Finder" the image object I want to anchor in a text, delete it an drop it again into my project. Then all is normal.Any help, advice ?Best regards,Thierry

Hello everyone. I installed InDesign v. 20.3.1 on macOS Sequoia 15.5, and until recently I also had version ID 19.5.4 installed. Ever since I uninstalled the older version (ID 19.5.4), macOS Quick Look with the spacebar stopped working. I tried reinstalling ID v. 20.3.1, but it didn’t fix the issue. Only after reinstalling version ID 19.5.4 did Quick Look start working again. Maybe this can be helpful to someone.P.S. It wasn’t easy to figure out.       <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi -- I am having a problem with adding pages to a document which has vertical running heads, in the outside margin of a spread. I've set this up in Master Pages, as a facing page spread. When I add a page, SOMETIMES the spread behaves and keeps the running head on the outside of the new configuration. Other times it puts the running head in the gutter, and I have to go through the whole book and correct it. I'm wondering if this has something to do with whether I've changed an element (i.e. unlocked it) that was on the original master spread, and once that was done, the element somehow disconnects from the master spread? And is there a way of telling the master spread that I want this element to still behave properly? Or maybe that's not the problem and there is another reason that it's happening.  Thanks so much for any insight into this! 

In Keyboard Shortcuts Settings > Object Editing:Ctrl+Alt+arrow keys (↑↓←→): The system defaults to “Snap to Edge(Pin to edge?),” but pressing them yields no response.How do I use this?

How can I change an existing document that is set up with right binding to left binding? My CC is set for english with left binding, but I have an indd file sent from a translation service bureau that was set for right binding and that's how it opens. The language does not read right to left so I need to fix this for press. I am not creating a new document, but need to change this document to print correctly. It's 72 pages and I really don't want to copy and paste into a new 

When I go to package a file I get the error "InDesign could not package the document... Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)". When I go across the hall and use a Mac on Sequoia 15.7, no error. I went into System Settings and gave InDesign and Adobe Full Disk Access and Files and Folders access but it didn't change anything. Is there a fix or workaround or maybe an update coming to address the issue?

I hope someone here can help me with my font issue.I’ve been having ongoing problems with various Adobe Fonts in InDesign.Several fonts no longer load, even though they have been marked as “active” or “added” in the Adobe Fonts program for ages, and had been working perfectly until recently.With some fonts, individual font styles are even missing and no longer displayed.In some cases, I was able to work around the issue by additionally installing the fonts via the Adobe Fonts app.However, even then I encountered the same issue: certain fonts within a font family couldn’t be loaded. They were missing both in the Fonts app and in InDesign.By repeatedly quitting InDesign and Adobe Creative Cloud, I was sometimes able to get a font to activate again.Another issue is that activated fonts hang forever in the background window saying "Loading fonts", and nothing happens.Under these circumstances, I can't generate a PDF either, since InDesign tries to load the missing fonts in the backg

I have 51 images. I want to create a book (to publish) where the image prints only on the right side and the left facing side is blank. This means a total of 102 pages (not counting cover).I want to include a text box below each photo.I want the same layout for each of the 50 pages.I want to create one centerfold image - the image printed across both left and right side pages.  How do I create a template to place 51 images only on the right side?How can I create a centerfold that breaks with this pattern? Thank you. Issue has been going on for several months now, I've worked with IT at my company to exclude any other potential problems. It seems to have started with ID 20.1; I've never had any problems in the past.  Any files saved on a server cause indesign to run incredibly slow, and very laggy. Link size isn't the issue, as it happens with any file, regardless of if it even has any links. This also only seems to be in ID, I haven't noticed any problems with illustrator or photoshop.  All our working files are saved on this server, and we need to keep it that way because we work collaboratively, and others may need to access the files at any time.  This could be an issue with our servers, but I wanted to post/report in case there's an issue with indesign not getting along with network servers. 

Hello, has anyone else been experiencing issues with the info panel not displaying wordcount data? I've relied on the feature for years without issue until now. I don't have any pending updates, I've closed and restarted the program, and I've tried a new document with the same results. Sometimes the info panel displays the character, words, lines and paragraph lines without data when text is highlighted and sometimes it's completely gone. I'll provide screenshots with both scenarios displayed.

Hi there,   I've updated one of my Publish Online documents and suddenly all the images have stopped displaying. Luckily I didn't overwrite it, so I can show  the differences.Old version (working):[pii removed by moderator]     Updated version (Not working):[pii removed by moderator]      I've packaged the files and put them here: The updated version[pii removed by moderator]The Old version that used to work[pii removed by moderator]   Unfortunately, even go back to my backups still creates broken images in publish online and I really can't figure out what has changed. The images are embedded into the InDesign document. I have tried replacing the images and they still don't work. I've tried moving it over into a fresh document and it doesn't work. I've tried going back to the backup I kept of when it did work, but when I do a new publish online the images are suddenly broken now.  I've tried republishing on multiple versions of InDesign and it doesn't

I work for county government and must reference federal documents or websites (such as the U.S. Census or Federal Highway) via hyperlinks in my reports. Reports (pdfs) or websites from federal agencies often show the 'red light' on the hyperlinks panel which warns that the hyperlink is not working. I have copied the hyperlink from my browser and inserted it through the hyperlinks panel but still receive this warning. What can I do to make this right?

I am trying to share my InDesign file with my client to review but it always gives me an error “Error Getting Invited People” I have tried restarting my mac but still no luck. ThanksHammad

I made a line & gave it a stroke colour & thickness. When I alt-drag it, the new line is a thicker black line like the first one was before I formatted it. I assume I have something set wrong. Can anyone help me get it so that an alt-dragged line is an exact copy of the first one? (It also happens when I use the Transform tool.)

During the conversion to jsxbin, I discovered that full encryption renders the code unusable.Additionally, certain sections need to remain unencrypted to allow user customization.How can I selectively encrypt specific parts of the code?

Hi, I'm building a script for InDesign to check if any non-brand colours are used in the document. The script displays a palette/dialog and fetches all the swatches. The user then selects the required Brand colours and clicks the button to check any inconsistencies. The current script prompts the correct number of inconsistencies. The quick navigation dialog box perfectly shows the next object on clicking the 'Next' button. However, the script is not selecting any object.
