InDesign

InDesign is crashing immediately after opening. Anyone else having this issue? I already tried uninstalling and re-installing and restarting my computer.

Hi There! We are a public company in Germany, using Adobe Cloud. Our public relations team has discovered an issue since we made an Update form Windows 10 to Windows 11 in Adobe InDesign. When typing/editing text in a textbox, the text disappears. Not everytime but often enough to be very annoying.  I found an old thread from 2021 with MAc where this issue was fixed with an Update to Version 17.X.Well we already got a up to date Version.  So maybe any other suggestions? Yours sincerely  Michael

Hi Adobe,  I have Itemised lists set out with a sublist underneath. When I create a new header. For example 2.0 the sub list doesn't recognise the 2.0 and continues from 1.1 to 1.2 regardless of the header list.  Can you please advise on how I set the nested list correctly?  

We are having an issue with InDesign at the Data Merge tab on large files (~100MB) on a group drive . We make a copy of a template, make some changes, and link a csv and merge one record in our process. However,  sometimes, when we open our template and clicking the data merge panel it crashes the entire program. This typically happens when there is already a csv linked to the document. Sometimes we can no longer open the file. Other times we can open the file, but never use the data merge feature or the software will crash and changes are lost. When we try to copy pages to a new file, the issue seems to carry over with the page content. It does seem to help to rewrite the file as IDML, but then we loose the content in the data merge tab and are back to the same place in our procees. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue or have recommendations for how to use the data merge feature without loosing files? 

I have formatted at 700 page document for a company book. Their in-house style is Fira Sans. I downloaded this typeface from Adobe. The number 1 is larger than the other numbers throughout the document when looking at the document at 100%.  I thought this was the style but looking it up online it says the numbers should all be the same height and in fact when I increase the size to 300% hey presto all the number are the same size. BUT when printing the pages the number 1 looks sightly smaller than the other numbers and the number 2 is slightly bigger! What is going on?! Hello, I would like to ask whether it is possible to save PDF files in the PDF/X-4:2008 standard in the 2025 version of the inDesign software. I found that the software can only save PDF files in the PDF/X-4:2010 standard. Now I need to save files in the PDF/X-4:2008 standard. How can I save them?

I can't print for long in InDesign.It works the first 3-5 times, but then InDesign crashes in the print menu before I can submit the print.This keeps happening until I restart the PC.Then it works again 3-5 times, and then the same error appears.I'm attaching the error log. Can anyone help?

This has become an unbelievable joke. I'm once again getting blank screens upon returning to an open InDesign document after a short period of being away from my Mac.    I'm also STILL, after over a year+ STILL having to reselect my Workspace setting, which then reinitiates the unbelievably annoying popups.    Seriously, what is going on at Adobe?   <Title renmaed by MOD>

I need a hint:Prompts a message when no correct selection is made:    Please select an image frame.    Please select the text.    Please place the cursor in the frame    Please select the top two rows of the table.    Please place the cursor in the table row. Thank you very much.

In the current release and previous version of In Design the pages overhang the dialog/button panel at the bottom making it difficult to access the last spread. In the Beta version it works as expected   <Title renamed by MOD>  

Hi, can anyone tell me where to find PDF/X-4:2010?I have updated InDesign to latest version, but its not there, I just have PDF/X-4:2008.And I can not find it anywhere to install.Thanks

I am encountering an issue with composite fonts in InDesign 2025 where extra white spaces are being added before and after English letters and numbers embedded in an Arabic paragraph. This issue is not present in InDesign 2023, which is also installed on the same PC. The problem only occurs in InDesign 2025 and affects the layout and alignment of Arabic and English mixed text.

I have currently selected the frame, but I want to distinguish between the following states:Is the selection tool being used, or is it a direct selection tool?Is this possible? Perhaps this would be useful. Usually, they only display one name:Rectangle or TextFrame.var item = app.activeDocument.selection[0]; alert(item.constructor.name); Thanks. 

Liebe Community, der Adobe Support und ich schlagen uns seit einer Woche mit folgendem Problem herum: RGB-Farben werden in meinem InDesign korrekt dargestellt - es sei denn, ich möchte sie in Farbverläufen nutzen. In beigefügtem Screenshot könnt Ihr das Problem sehen: Links das leuchtende Grün wird als Unterstreichung der Überschriften korrekt dargestellt. Will ich im Rechteck rechts einen Farbverlauf mit demselben Ton darstellen, wechselt InDesign in den CMYK-Raum. Der Support ist mehrere Stunden verschiedene Einstellungen in InDesign durchgegangen - ohne Erfolg. Anschließend haben wir InDesign einmal deinstalliert und reinstalliert - ohne Erfolg. Gestern habe ich mittels Adobe Cleaner CC alle Adobe Programme gelöscht und wieder installiert - ohne Erfolg. Auch die globalen Farbeinstellungen über Bridge lösten das Problem nicht. Hat jemand eine Idee, woran das liegen könnte? InDesign läuft bei mir auf Windows 11 - wir schließen allerdings aus, dass es ein Probl

Hi there, I was happy to create a QR Code in InDesign, but I encountered 2 issues:1. The Title doesn't display above the name in the .vcf file. Instead displays the email which you can find later below in the email section. Can anyone help me in How can this be fixed?2. The is no option to include a Logo. It would be great to have this option. 

Hello - when I edit text in a text frame the existing text keeps disappearing and I have to scroll up or down to get it back which is incredibly annoying, it is doing it all the time making InDesign practically unusable. I am running Windows 11 on a Microsoft Surface and the latest Adobe Indesign version 20.5. Any suggestions please?! Thanks

Hello, How do I work out the correct 'mm' for the bleed area (blue line), Image cut area (pink line), Safe area (green line) and Text area (purple line) on the template attached? The attached template from the printers for this particular banner only indicates two measurements, 2390mm x 1320mm, and the banner heading says 1.2m. I am clearly new to InDesign, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Gen

InDesign (InDesign 20.5.0.48). no longer saves file-specific PDF settings. Every time I attempt to generate a PDF, InDesign defaults to the settings used most recently (from an unrelated file). As a result, I have to manually set my PDF settings every time I generate a PDF. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Adobe Indesign, How to Convert a Variable Font (Inter) to Outline!? I can't merge it completely, this type of font, when convert its creates several shapes and irregularities in the corners, when converted to outline. Which I can only solve in Adobe Illustrator using Pathfinder, but when we got many pages with text, this is not pratical!!!  - Is there any solution to do it!? Could Adobe Indesign review the Pathfinder, as it exists in Adobe Illustrator!? So I don't need to take all my text to Illustrator, use the Pathfinder there, and only Then, bring that convert Text to Indesign Again!!!? Thank You for Your Help. 

I'm working on a lease that has 24 variations, or 24 variations.  For simplicity sake let's just say that sections 1-12 are all the same, but #13 is unique to each version, 14-18 are all the same but #19 is also unique to the version.  If the text is just basic flowing from column to column page to page etc. is there a way to abstract chunks of that text that will flow into a single/mutliple linked text boxes?As you can imagine propegating very simple changes is very time consuming and mind numming work that just screams there is a better way.Bonus points if this can also seamlessly address numbering etc.I'm also open to using InCopy if that provides an elegant solution.

 I have a series of images on a page, with text above them numbered "Frame: 1, Frame: 2, etc" which are generated automatically by styling a space within the text box, using a Paragraph style, via Bullets and Numbering. So that, I can remove images along with it's corresponding text, grouped, to automatically update the numbering as edits occur, etc. Which works as expecged, for the most part (at times you have to play with the layering, and cutting and pasting, in order the get the numbering to reorder properly). I'm only stuck on how to have "Frame:" bold, while keeping the number to the right of it itself, " 1", unbold? Nesting styles and GREP style don't help, as for as I've been able to determine. Below a screenshots of the Bullets and Numbering and Nested Styles, I played with so far.        

Hi, Newbiw here,  I am creating my own numbered list but its going over a number of pages, however, when i go to page 2 etc it starts counting from the beginning agin, how do i fix this?  You will see this on page 5 -6

Adobe Indesign is too slow takes too long to release objects...its on my last nerve InDesign - it's getting on my last nerve. Everything was fine until the 24-25 update. The worst of it is when I select an object...a text box or image box...the item will remain selected for a few more seconds...sometimes over 10 seconds. It thinks every time I do any action. I have been working with Indesign from the first edition to today, but nothing like this before. Indesign and MAC are together forming a major pain for me. I am used to moving fast, but this thing is always thinking. I even had to keep turning off active Preflight to minimize stalling. Its up to or over 5 seconds when jumping from page to page. It seems like the longer I work the worst it gets. I have tried all the remedies that exist online and nothing. I wish I can bring my Mac Pro desktop to Adobe MAX 2025 so I can demonstrate this to Indesign engineers.
