Hello,I need my first footnote on the first page of each section to be an asterisk rather than "1". After the first one, the footnotes need to continue normally (1,2,3...)Is this possible?

Hello guys,I`m trying to make sure that the main text that contains the definition has the same width and coordinates (x and y) in all pages, but i feel like doing it manual might take a long and painful time, so i was wondering the following: ¿Is there a script or plug-in where i can fit all the content of the text in the parameters of all pages? 

Hi all. I have a curious one here where my before + after spacing options are suddenly not working. They were working fine earlier today and I haven't updated or done anything out of the ordinary, but those options are mysteriously greyed out now. I can't insert the cursor into any of these. I've restarted and tried a brand new document. Not too keen to replace settings yet as I lose all my shortcuts every time. 😄Any thoughts?   

When I create a documentin indesign and then export as an interacvrive PDF, the colours, when the file is opened in photoshop don't match. The example is this:Background colour is #d6002a. Colour profile is set as sRGB IEC61966-2.1, Conversion Options as Adobe (AVE) and intent as Absolute Colouremtric. When I open the file in Photoshop from the PDF the #d6002a has now changed to #f90027 I checked my profiles and everything matches. When I export the file as a PDF normally, but with settings set for web, the colours match exactly. The lack of ability to choose any colour settings when exporting as an interactive PDF is quite irritating when I know the colours are right, but the export process is obvioulsy changing something. Anyone have any ideas as to how to solve this, because it's driving me mad.

This is really a font issues of some sort, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen this behavior in InDesign to help me get closer to finding a solution. We're updating a font we created to the newest version of the font editing software. When generating the OTF file from the newest version of editing software every thing almost perfect, except that InDesign isn't applying kern pairs between two characters that have different languages. The oddest thing is that when you click between the two characters InDesign shows the correct kern value in the button bar 😐 it just doesn't visually apply it. This does not happen with the font generated from the older version of the font editing software. Has anyone else seen this behavior in InDedsign? Where it shows a kern value between to characters but doesn't actually implement it? Thanks for reading!Ken

Edit to add it must be something to do with the page or on the page, because I shifted all the text to the next page and there was no gap or split and the gap is in the same place on that left page regardless of where the text is. I'm thinking it must be a bug, I deleted the pages so everything moved to the next spread and it's fine! Hi everyone, I have a really weird one I'm hoping someone can figure out for me! I have this page set up, the text in the right column is all the same paragraph, there are no returns or any other spaces of any kind other than a normal space between words, but there is a 2 line gap which I can't figure out. You can see the hidden characters are just normal spaces in the 2nd screenshot. The gap is there if I add or remove text (3rd screenshot) which led me to think it was a stray box with a wrap, but I've unlocked all on the spread and then selected all and as you can see there is no box aside from the red one I've drawn around the area in que

Hi has anyone used this short cut key to add multiple words for indexing in InDesign? Shift+Alt+Ctrl+[This only adds the single page the word is selected from only. Is there a shortcut which is stronger? Is there a shortcut to add all selected ?

I have sent out the share for review link to clients for feedback etc. However after making all the changes and letting clients know that they are all completed for final review, none of the changes have been updated. No errors or missing links in preflight and the update status says updated 'x' hours ago.

Hi,There is a problem with the swatches window in InDesign (Mac 15.6 - latest InDesign update). The transition between line and solid color is gone.Does anyone know the problem? It's driving me crazy, how can I fix it?

I have a very long report, with several chapters. All of the text is in one long text flow. Obviously if I make a change on page 1 (like adding a photo) this will reflow the text all the way to page 200. I don't want to have to check every single subsequent page for reflow issues. Is there a way, at the end of a chapter/section, to break the text thread, AND keep the subsequent text on the subsequent pages? So if I make a change at the start of the report it is not reflowing the content at the end.

Hi everyone,I know the issue has been discussed multiple times and I’ve already searched through existing posts on this topic but haven’t found a clear solution (assuming there is one) or a best practice to follow.I have a document like in (pic.1), where the images are placed on a “Background” layer and extend to the page bleed. When I insert a single page before these, the result is that the image ends up out of place and has to be manually adjusted (pic.2). What I’d like is a way to make sure the image always stays centered (or even aligned to the bleed would be a suitable option) regardless of whether the page is on the left or right.As far as I know there's no way to do this using Object Style. Hello! I tried the 2025 version earlier in the year but found it unstable at the time and have been stubbornly using 2024 since. I've recently inherited a document from someone externally and since it was created in the new version I figured I'd work on it in that. But I am finding the ENTIRE user interface noticeably fuzzy compared to 2024. I've looked through all the settings and have everything inside the software set up identically (I think.) Comparitive screenshots attached below, same screen, same PC, both running at the same time in similar documents. Could anyone shed any light on this for me, or is 2025 just like this, with this antialiased effect throughout? My eyes are out on stalks. On Mac Sequoia 15.5, Adobe InDesign 2025. I can see the endnotes in Word but when the file is placed in InDesgin they don't show at the end of the document. HELP!

Hi everyone, hope someone could give me advice on the following problem:   Since a few days one of my files isn't working in Indesign anymore. When I open it I have to wait for quite long, just to get an error. Other files still work. I also can't download the file elsewhere anymore. Also, nearly everytime it now says in Indesign the file needs to synchronize and it takes very long. I tried finding the problem through ChatGPT and tried a lot of different things, but it seems like the file is corrupted (out of nowhere).  Putting it back to an older version also doesn't work properly. In addition, I only have the file in the cloud, so not locally saved.    Any ideas/experience with this type of problem? Or advice in general?     <Title renamed by MOD> 

Hello,I'm working with file that is in my local network on serwer. My InDesign file have a lot of references. My network disk is slow about 100Mb/s. The problem is with InDesign that after some changes refresh all references to about 20 files, (perhaps he open this files in background, check numer pages, and close files).After small chenges in my working document i must wait 😞All related with references files hase about 700 pages.How to do it that indesign turn of refreshing references after changes?

I'd like to create a heading style that is of the same level as an existing style, but not have the numbers effect each other. I currently have a script that renames files and outputs a before-and-after text file, (e.g. origFilename.tif ==> newFilename.tif) to act as a guide to help manually relink said files in a document. Is there a way to automate that process with a script that uses that text file?

I am printing a customer supplied PDF from InDesign. (Attached) We needed to add bleeds and that's why I am not printing directly from Acrobat. The word STOLE on page 2 of the PDF won't print when printing from InDesign. (It will print when printing direct from Acrobat) I tried to find issues in Print Production and Preflight in Acrobat but admittedly, I'm not particulary savy as deciphering all of Acrobat's features. I'm on a PC, Windows 11 Pro, InDesign 20.3.1

I have written 17 chapters of a book, and each one is a separate file with endnotes. How can I import them into a composite file which compiles the author's endnotes into one set at the back of this composite file?

I've noticed that recent versions of InDesign try to 'autofit' the document when the size of the window is changed, is there a way to disable this? I keep finding that the document goes all 'wobbly' when I'm resizing the window too, which  Im guessing is related.

I am having an issue with InDesign. I have a text box that had white text and I switched to black because I was removing the color background. When I switched the text to black the last couple of words on each line remains white. I have no idea why - it was perfectly fine when I last had it open.I can move my cursor next to the last word in black and it types black text. But when I delete the white text it then changes the adjacent letter next to it to white and keeps doing this for each adjacent letter.And even more odd if I type at the end where the word is white the additional text I type is white but for each new white letter it changes the white text on the opposite end of the string to black. I am at a loss. Anyone know why it is doing this? I did have a HP driver and Windows 11 Cumulative update yesterday and today - not sure that has anything to do with it. I did ininstall and reinstall InDesign and still have the same issue. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? T

I inserted an image into a line.Now, I want to use a script to obtain the line spacing and interline spacing of the insertion point.Please give me some guidance.Thank you very much.

Can someone provide current up to date information on how to deactivate one of my three devices? Available posts have outdated info and its impossible to find the area to do this. The only other option I have is to try and use the unactivated device, which then gives me the opportunity to deactivate one of the other two devices.  Find it hard to believe that is the only way. Online rep claimed that it is not possible. Is that true?
