InDesign

Hi there, I'm an InDesign newbie, self taught. I am making a zine that is tabloaid size (11x17 inches) I have my spreads in InDesign setup and would like a PDF booklet to take into kinkos to print. When I go to "print booklet" and change my printer to postscript it keeps cutting off my PDF because the page size isn't correct. I can't change the page size in postscript because it's greyed out. If there is a better way I'm all ears, I just want a booklet, print ready file I can fold and staple on my own! Thanks 🙂

Estou fazendo um catalogo extenso em um PC e comprei outro para continuar o trabalho, porem o arquivo nao abre e minha nuvem simplesmente nao esta atualizando mesmo tendo espaço.  Ja tentei tambem usando outra nuvem, e passando os arquivos por pendrive, com todasa as imagens linkadas. O suporte da Adobe nao conseguiu me auxiliar. O que poderia estar acontecendo e como posso arrumar esse erro?

I am converting my print book into an epub in indesign. Most of the formatting is straight-forward, except for a contrapuntal poem (a poem that is two columns, both of which can be read individually or all together if the reader reads across the columns). Due to its formatting, I converted it to an image within the epub. I want to make sure I'm taking the correct approach to the alt text for the image to ensure that those using screen readers will be able to read the poem how it's intended to be read.  Below is how I wrote the alt text. Is this too long? If so, what's the best way to go about conveying this information accessibly?  This poem, titled "boundaries," is a contrapuntal poem. It's structured as two poems placed side by side, separated by a vertical line between them. I want my master page item to stay on top of ALL my webpages. This is the way it is supposed to be place on every page in InDesign.But whenever I need to add or insert a new page. My entire top navigation bar is bumped down on all the following pages. Below is the result. Can people tell me what is causing that to happen and how this can be fixed?Thank you!

I'm exporting a book from InDesign to both PDF and EPUB formats. The EPUB must be flowable, and I'm using Aquile Reader to review the output. Most of the content converts well, but a large table is getting truncated during export.This table is critical and needs to retain its original structure. Because it's too large to fit within the two-column layout of the book, I anchored it to a section of the text that references it, rather than placing it directly inline. I've tried making the graph smaller, but that somehow made it worse.I've included screenshots below. What's the best way to ensure the full table exports properly in the flowable EPUB format?

Hallo zusammen,ich hätte da eine Frage, auf die ich nur eine Antwort habe, und diese hilft mir dann nicht weiter. Gehen wir davon aus, wir haben einen Titel in Helvetica, 30pt gross und fett. Im nächsten Abssatz folgt Fliesstext, 11 oder 12pt, Helvetica regular. Optisch nimmt man nun wahr, das das erste Zeichen des Titels wie auch das erste Zeichen in der ersten Zeile des folgenden Absatzes nicht in einer vertikalen Linie liegen. Alle hierzu relevanten Parameter in ID sind dafür nicht verantwortlich. Das Laden des verwendeten Fonts ein ein Programm zur Bearbeitung der Schrift zeigt einen linken Rand je Zeichen, der bei hoher Schriftgrösse optisch hervortritt. Kann man so etwas in ID lösen, ohne dabei grad weiss ich nicht was zu machen? Vielen Dank Urs 

I'm hoping someone can explain to me why this is happening: Apply a paragraph style to a paragraphSelect the paragraph by clicking four timesCopy text from any sourcePaste in InDesign. The pasted text replaces the selected paragraph and the paragraph style is lost, replaced with Basic Paragraph.  If instead of clicking four times to select the paragraph, I carefully select the paragraph leaving out the pilcrow paragraph symbol, then the paragraph is replaced with the incoming text but the paragraph style is retained. Is there a way to avoid the time-consuming selection? Is there a reason why this is the behavior (pasted text over selected paragraph changing the paragraph's style)? Just so everyone knows, what I'm doing is copying text from a PDF and pasting into an InDesign template that's been set up with dummy copy that has paragraph styles applied. Maybe there's a better way to handle that but I thought it was strange that I can't simply select a paragraph a

I have one large text thread. I have a second smaller text thread. I want to thread those boxes into the larger one. However, everytime I click the out port from the larger thread, and try to click the in port on the newer thread, it makes a new text box instead of using the existing one I'm clicking on. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

I changed the script name, and then my shortcut key stopped working.When I tried to set a new shortcut key for the new script, I noticed the old script name still appeared in the shortcut key settings.My previous workaround was to delete the shortcut key temporary files, which fixed it, but that's quite a hassle.Do you have any better solutions?

On the same machine, I have both InDesign Server and InDesign Desktop installed and operational. When the same document is opened on both InDesign Desktop and InDesign Server, InDesign Server displays a 'missing font' error for Open Sans Bold, whereas InDesign Desktop continues to function properly, and the Open Sans Bold font is visible.I have restarted both the InDesign Server and the machines, but the problem continues to occur.   Error - font manager Missing Font Open Sans Bold

Hallo Comminity, leider wird das Dialogfeld „Fehlende Schriftarten“ nicht mehr angezeigt (Indesign Version 20.5). Im Preflight und bei „Schrifart suchen/ersetzen“ wird es natürlich noch angezeigt. Ich hätte gerne das Dialogfeld wieder. Geht das? Chat GPT sagte mir das:Verstanden ✅ – das Problem ist:Das klassische Popup-Fenster „Fehlende Schriftarten“ lässt sich in den aktuellen InDesign-Versionen (ab ca. CC 2020/2021) nicht mehr aktivieren.Adobe hat das absichtlich geändert:Früher sprang das Dialogfeld sofort beim Öffnen auf.Heute wird stattdessen oben im Steuerungsbedienfeld / Eigenschaftenbedienfeld ein gelbes Warnsymbol mit Hinweis „Schriftarten fehlen“ eingeblendet. Hello, in my work i have completed PDF files that i have to attach a QR to through a frame i have to place carefully.  I'm wondering if there is an INDD tool that will 'magic wand' a box in the artwork where a white box has been set aside for the QR code graphic.    The process i'm looking to do this:  set the background, use the 'magic wand' tool on background where the white box in the background is (pdf link) and it snaps a frame into that background white box.  Then i select the frame adjust a certain 'inches' (0.03" for instance) shorter, then move the created QR box into that new adjusted frame and resize the QR to fit to the frame.  Currently I have to zoom in very close, adjust the guides right onto the white edges of the box then change the value of the guide +/- 0.03 inches to form the guide frame for the QR box.  This takes considerable time, especially with multiple artworks to work on. is there anything in INDD like a 'magi

I just know somehow that if this was a real thing I could save a week's worth of time every month.  I produce a 40 page newsletter 12 times a year and it always takes about 5 days to complete a new issue.  The format is generally consistent from month to month, but bringing in new stories is such a brutally manual process!

Hi,I'm working on a project originally made in CS6, but not entirely resaved in CC25.5.When choosing the "Package Book for Print" command, I get a warning that it can't open a file in the book.The files seems fine. Preflight can't find errors.If I choose the "Package Book for Print" command while that file is left open, the procedure works flawlessly.What can be the first thing I should check to catch up this issue?Paolo Mac mini M4 Pro, Sequoia 15.6.1, latest version of ID. 

I would like to update my InDesign program to latest version 26. But it tells me my system does not support it. My sytem uses an AMD processor which is not supported. Will Adobe release a version without the AVX2 extension for those who do not use or need it for AMD? I don't want to buy a new computer just for that.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi All When i try and place a pdf into Indesign i get the following message "cannot open the pdf file". The pdf comes from an external source so not sure what the issue is. Previous pdfs from them were ok when placing them in Indesign. I have tried click on the import options in Indesign but still no joy.. Any ideas why this would happen. Never had this issue before. Cheers Tom 

Hello. I've been having strange issues with Indesign, first it was forcing all prints to be on both sides of the page, now it's not letting me add pages without making them individiual spreads, even with turning off facing pages and turning off document/spread shuffle in page window. Been trying different combinations, trying to insert pages at the start of document and in the pages menu and pages window, same result. Mac OSx latest Indesign 2025

I have two identical monitors, side by side. I always use InDesign in the left monitor, but every time I open it, the window straddles both monitors with half of the windo in the left monitor and the other half in the right monitor. I always move it over to one monitor, but when i close it out and open InDesign again, the same thing happens. This is annoying and I'd like to find out why it happens and what I can do to get the program to open on just one monitor instead of straddling both.   I have two identical monitors, side by side. The first ratified in (2008 or) 2010 and the second in 2020.  Why are neither referenced in InDesign?

Hallo, seit heute fährt mein Indesign nicht mehr hoch, auch Neustarts helfen nicht. Ich habe nichts geändert oder aktualisiert und weiß nicht, woran es liegen könnte. Wer hat einen Tipp?

Hi,I have an issue with the character count in InDesign. When I insert a text in an existing InDesign layout that I often reuse, if I compare the character count of the Info Pannel to the character count of the generated PDF, there is a significant difference. Where is the error and how to solve it? Thank you, Sophie

My InDesign file kept crashing, so I rebooted my computer, and now it won't open at all. Every time InDesign tries to recover the file, it states "Automatic recovery failed last time," and gives me the option to either begin recovery or cancel the action. When I press yes, it closes the application entirely.
