I've used the inline notes script - https://creativepro.com/files/kahrel/indesign/footnote_inline.htmlI want to change the space between the inline notes. I've tried searching for var number_of_emsin the script (as mentioned on the webpage). But i can't find it. Any solutions?
I’m building charts in Illustrator (100% vector, no effects, no transparency, no filters, no spot colors, Im' working in RGB in Illustrator) and placing them into InDesign 20.3.1 on macOS Ventura. I export to Interactive PDF (RGB). On my Mac in Acrobat and in Dropbox’s inline preview, everything is crisp. Two clients on Windows + Acrobat see (apparently) the same charts as pixelated, as if Acrobat is showing a low‑res proxy (similar to InDesign’s “Typical” Display Performance setting). When I import the same PDF into Illustrator, all elements are still vector paths. We’ve used this workflow for ~8 years without issues; the previous project 2 months ago (earlier InDesign version) was fine. I can't get a sign off on this project until we settle this issue. The only thing that changed is that I updated Indesign and I'm slow to update, so I was working with early 2024 versions previously. Has anyone run into this issue? I need to export this as an Interactive pdf to preserve all
We are working with an Indesign file where the pages suddenly turns grey, and the content on the pages dissapears. - We have tried saving the document as an idml file, but cannot open it.- We are using Indesign version 19.1 and have tried to open it in an older version, but that didn't solve the problem.- We have also tried to turn of the CPU to no avail.Does anyone have any suggestions to solve the problem? That would really be a great help - else it will be MANY hours wasted...
My workflow is to edit in Word, and to use its footnote feature to create the footnotes. I assign all text to either character or paragraph styles, and ruthlessly eliminate all overrides. I import into InDesign using WordsFlow (http://emsoftware.com/products/wordsflow/), assigning all the styles to the styles in my ID template. This creates a dynamic link between the documents, so any update in the Word file is reflected in ID when the file link is updated. It’s a robust system and doesn’t cause the error, which occurs with a ‘normal’ placement of the text and mapping of styles. The Word footnotes therefore become ID footnotes (i.e. they sit at the bottom of the ID text frame). The ‘Footnote Reference’ character style which is applied by Word when you insert a new footnote, and is therefore mapped in the ID document to a style of the same name (but with different parameters). The character style fot footnote cues in ID selects OpenType superiors to get the best typograph
I've needed Indesign to set arabic for a few years but have now reverted to Indesign in international English. I completely uninstalled, changed language on CC account to English and then reinstalled, asked it not to keep preferences. The text link direction is wrong when I place a word document in any existing Indesign file. And also the endnote box is generated with the wrong text link direction. The change direction tickbox from 'story' is not available in the English version. New documents are fine but old ones (that didn't even use arabic) are affected. Export to idml doesn't change the behaviour. Does this mean that there's something hidden in all my old files that forces it to follow this text direction and that cannot be overridden?
how can I chose 2 different fonts for paragraphs one for english and one for hebrew for a paragraph which contains both languages?
This never used to happen, but recently when exporting to PDF from InDesign, each line of a paragraph is being tagged (as opposed to the whole paragraph). I haven't been doing anything differently so I wonder if InDesign changed something? I work on a P.C. (not Mac)
why is all my text disappearing when changing the space after?
I would like to learn more about creating mockups for products such as bags, mugs, and keychains. Are there any recommended online courses to follow that teach how to create mockups from scratch?
why are pages adding to my document instead of deleting when I select to delete these empty pages?see video attached.
how can I manualy bold a font that does not have a bold option?
Which option by pargraph styles would get these lines more balanced out?
When I want to move a block with the keyboard arrows, InDesign only reacts when I move the mouse cursor. Do you have a solution?

After moving horizontally into the layout, if sb[2] exceeds the bottom edge, overflow is displayed.This is instead of expanding, as the text may be very long.sel[j].visibleBounds = [sb[0], lcb, sb[2], rcb];
I asked ChatGPT about this and it said it cannot be done. Which surprised me because it seems such a basic function;I have split up my book into individual chapter files. Makes sense keeps file small and fast running l.Now I want to insert a dynamic Cross reference from one chapter to another: 'Like for more info see "chapter 5, pg 245" ' ( inside the quotes is the CR to another chapter/file in the same book container. Didn't Hellen Keller say "Don't Tell me in can't be done!"But how? Thanks SF
Can anyone tell me why the colors in my document change when I hover over them? Actually, to be more specific, they become lighter and more muted when I hover off of them. Never seen this before.
In Illustrator when you have an object selected, you can go to the flyout option menu and select an action named "locate object." This then brings you to where that object is located in layers. It's brilliant and I am looking for it's equivalent in InDesign. Otherwise, in documents with many objects and layers, I have to scroll a lot while looking for a colored square, sometimes opening many sublayers in the process to locate my desired layer/object.A basic question and I say thank you!
When running a script in script editor, I keep getting the following error: Syntax error: A identifier cannot go after go after this identifier.i'm attempting to run the following script in InDesign:
Okay, so what happens is my rags are looking funky because my lines are breaking WAY before they last word reached the right edge of the bounding box. This has happened more than once. So I have a bunch of unfilled space at the end of a line when there is clearly space for more words to fill that line. I haven't made any changes to my alignment or spacing. How do I fix this, it looks terrible there are large gaps of space where the sentence should be, but instead it broke to the next line. It's the first sentence of the second paragraph, the word "see" got bumped to the second line but clearly there is space to allow "see" to fill up the space in the end of the first line, after the word "you". WHY is this happening, It looks terrible. I've attached a screed shot.
He armado un documento en inDesing en tres archivos, ahora quiero fucionarlos para obtener un sólo archivo, se que se puede pero no encuentro la manera.
Hello! What graphics card do Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop programs need? For perfect operation, is nVidia Geforce RTX 4050 6 GB or nVidia Geforce RTX 4060 8 GB recommended or other? Thanks
What are these locked files all about?
I've tried to find a specific answer here in the forum for this situation but keep coming up with variations that don't quite match my situation, so, my apologies if this post is redundant to something I haven't found yet. I am designing a text book. It has a system of three topic levels, for which I've created para styles of Lev 1, Lev 2, and Lev 3. I have them all set up to continue from previous number. I manually restart with each new chapter, but after that, it should flow in order. However, I'm in Chapter 3 and all of a sudden, Lev 2 is skipping from "A" to "D." I can't figure out what might be causing it. I thought maybe I had too much RAM tied up (even though I have 32GB), so I restarted the computer. It didn't change anything. I've examined the paragraph style several times, and it is set up correctly (plus it worked in the first two chapters). I've done a search for the Lev 2 paragraph style in case I'd accidentally applied it to a random return, etc., and the search goe
