Hi I am working in latest mac os 15.4.1 (24E263) and InDesign 2024 version. As per customer request we need to use STIX two text regular and italic font. I Download the fonts from Google fonts and placed in Documents font folder where my InDesign located. But InDesign not taking the fonts from documents fonts instead of its taking the fonts from System--Library--Fonts--Supplemental font folder. The STIX font regular font are variable font in that supplemental folder. We not to use variable font. There is any possible way to activate my Documents font? I also tried to activate cloud font becuase of font in supplemental folder, cloud font shows conflict for STIX regular and italic font. Let us know you thought on this.I have 2 option 1. Fonts downloaded from Google fonts2. Activate from CC fonts But both the option is not working, it taking fonts from system folder ThanksGanesh.R
I am working on a book. When I imported the manuscript, all of the quotations were straight inch marks, not typographer's quotes. It is this way throughout the book. When I tried to do a find/change to correct the issue, I got a message that says it couldn't find any in the document. I am looking directly at the file and there are hundreds of these marks--not a quotation mark in sight. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can get the correct typographer's quotes throughout the book? <Title renamed by MOD>
When I select an image inside a box, when I pinch on my trackpad to zoom in or out of the page, it scales the image up or down instead. I have to delsect the image to scale then select the image again. How do I turn this off? Using Macbook Air M3 with the latest version of inDesign. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello, I’m having issues with the stroke thickness of vector lines in an InDesign document. When I create a PDF using the "Print" function, the lines match the appearance in Illustrator/InDesign. However, when I export the PDF using the "Export" button, the lines become much thicker. I’m not seeing any correlation between what I see in InDesign and the exported PDF paths. The color mode of the PDF created using the "Print" method is composite CMYK. In Illustrator, I usually select "Do not manage color in this document," but the problem is that when I look at the vectors in the InDesign file, they appear as I want them to. But in the exported PDF, they don't. Do you have any suggestions? If you need more information, I can provide it. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello, I have an issue with the text boxes on the bottom of my margin. My grids are at 13 pt leading and looks great. This issue is at the bottom of the margin when my text box snaps to it the copy does not line up across. I have to pull my text box down for the text to show. How do I fix this issue? 2 images here, 1 is a full view and the other is close up. Thanks in advance. See attached.
Hello, I have a document where I have blocks of text that are supposed to become tables.I have tabs (\t) to separate between colums and newline (\r) to separate between rows. For the moment, I to to go through the document manually, select the text blocks and convert them to tables. All the lines of text that are supposed to become tables have the paragraph tag "Body-for-Table".In between there are other parts of text, such as headings, sub-headnings and so on. The number of lines in each block of "Body-for-Table" can vary from one to 20 or so. Is it possible to make a javascript that goes through the document and converts each text block "Body-for-Table" to a table? My Table Style is called "Table-pratiqué-etc". Best regards from Geir
Hey AllTrying to set up my text box where I can have my main Headers on the left of the text frameand my paragraph/text for that header to be on the right side of it.I must be continous and not split into columns.Ive included a pic to try illustrate what i need.As you can see i have Title A and the Main Text on the right side of it with a bit of space between. It should all flow continuously.
Hi all, I'm hoping I could get some assistance with a task I want to accomplish. I have a table with values inserted at each cell. I'd like to fill the remaining space in each cell with leader dots. I know how to do this in the GUI, but I need a script that can do this as well. Two issues I'm having: - I'm finding it difficult to determine the space left over for the leader dots to fill. - I'm having trouble finding a way to directly insert leader dots with a script. Maybe I have to insert a placeholder and convert with some GREP command? Thanks in advance! <Title renamed by moderator>
Dear InDesign users, I am working on an interactive PDF form in the current InDesign version CC 2020 with hundreds of checkboxes on one page. These are created within several tables. InDesign currently does not provide a comfortable automatism for determining the tab order, I have done this in painstaking work via Object > Interactive > Set tab order... Now the client wishes a small adjustment to the design and the tables with the checkboxes have to be moved within the layout. Unfortunately, InDesign destroys the determined tab order:- When moving the tables numerically via the control palette- When moving manually by mouse or by the arrows on the keyboard - Even when just grouping the text frames with the tables Because the checkboxes are placed within tables, the tab order cannot be created using the Articles Panel. Does anyone know a solution to the problem? Are there any scripts or plugins that allow you to change the tab order more comfortable? Is
Is it possible to create dynamic QR codes in InDesign? I realize that static QR codes can be generated, but what about dynamic QR codes? I would like to create codes that will be printed on products that link to videos and other educational information that may change over time so the codes need to be dynamic but still link to data that may change. Can this be done? How can this be done? If it isn't currently possible please MAKE THIS POSSIBLE ADOBE! 🙂
Our style calls for a "(continued)" heading on the next page if a topic overflows onto it. So the condition is: If the topmost line on the page isn't a heading (styled with "Heading"), put the text of the last heading on that line with "(-cont'd)" after it. This needs to survive repagination, and yet not take up space when a heading naturally (or deliberately) falls at the top of the page. What do you think is the best way to accomplish this?
Once again I found that, all of a sudden, I was getting "overset text" errors in a document that's set up with one continuous text flow and automatic page-adding. This turned out to be because all the flows in my 300-page book were de-flagged as "primary," apparently by a book-syncing operation. No idea what triggered it in this instance, since I've been frequently syncing all the documents in this book as I work. I selected the text frame on a page to see if, once again, another "shadow" frame had been added behind it. Nope. There is still only one frame per page; it just isn't "primary" anymore. I checked the master pages from which the pages were derived, and they still have one flow, which is marked as primary. The frames are all still interconnected as one flow, too. This is a really, really tiresome defect. I haven't figured out the pattern to it, because it doesn't always happen and it's not obvious when it does.
I am writing a book from two different sources. One isgoing to be in serif and the other is sans serif. But when I insert one in the other the font will extend to some other paragrafs on both before and after.
Estimados en in desing me aparecen líneas horizontales al ajustar la transparencia de objetos, estas líneas se traspasan incluso al pdf y en las impresiones también, alguién ha tenido el mismo problema
Newbie question:I have thousands of photos. When I use a photo, I label it to keep track of which photos have been used. From Bridge, how can I reveal where that image has been placed in the Indesign document? thank you, Misty
Hi there! I designed some templates on a baseline grid for a client and now he opened it and the totally of the file is incorrect. The text is all too large and moved up and all of a sudden the blocks are larger and sticks out? The client shared the screenshot, I honestly have no idea what happened as well to solve it.Does anybody know?
Hi. (This may be a duplicate post, but it was lumped in to another post where it will get lost, so here we go again... Please, Adobe, leave it as a separate query - it really is!!)I need to be able to make just the first number within the parentheses bold, but not any others. In this sample, I have the solution:(1) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX; (2) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX;(3) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX; (4) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX;(5) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX; (6) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX;(7) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10:2XX–2XX. (?<=\()\d+.*?(?=\)) works well, but there are times when there is another number buried within each reference that can be in brackets, like this:(1) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10(23):2XX–2XX; (2) Surname Initial et al. Journal 2000;10(23):2XX–2XX;What do I need to add to my GREP to only choose the firs
I can copy maybe 2 times from one open document to another open document before InDesign shuts down. It does not crash when copying within the same document. I have tried resetting preferences, disabled all in clip-board handling, but it is still the same. It occurs in random documents, so not the same either document, picture or elements. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello all,I am trying to import Word documents based on the Word Import Preset documents. Here's an example smp document <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <Sangam-Import-Preset reader-type="Word/RTF"> <!--Style mappings take the form of key-value pairs consisting of: style-name: Source document's style name, for example RTF style name. Hello Everyone,I need to edit a document with 2 different languages,on the left column of the page is foreign language & on the right it is regional language.since the document is a of 2000+ pages, please help me with a solution how to make 2 auto flow text boxes without getting bumped into each other. Thanks in advance
Typing letter "r" applies a style sheet instead of actually showing letter "r". Can't type any "r" in the document. Can type uppercase "R" with shift key. But not with caps lock. I removed all innocent paragraph styles and attached a resulting InDesing file and a PDF. Thank you.
Thanks to the help I got yesterday, I have now knitted a book. I'm going to have some cross-references from one chapter to another. Within a single document, I know how to do that. I create a text anchor and then hyperlink to it from another place in the document.Today I created a new text anchor in one chapter. When I went to the other chapter to create the hyperlink, the text-anchor box did not show any text anchors. (That chapter had no internal links.)So I think my question is how I get the indb file to "know" the text anchors in each chapter. Is there a way to import them?
Cuando intento editar un texto siempre desaparece, en algunos no sucede pero en otros si, quisiera saber a que se debe y como puedo solucionarlo, adjunto video de lo que me aparece.
I've searched the XML file for a long time, but I can't find the option I set for "document" or "article" scope.Looks like I'm wrong again. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <Query> <Header> <Version major="5" minor="1"> </Version> <Application value="Adobe InDesign"> </Application> <QueryType value="Grep" qid="1"> </QueryType> </Header> <Description> <FindExpression value="(?&lt;=m|M)(2|3)(?!\d)"> </FindExpression> <ReplaceExpression value=""> </ReplaceExpression> <FindChangeOptions> <IncludeLockedLayers value="0"> </IncludeLockedLayers> <IncludeLockedStories value="0"> </IncludeLockedStories> <IncludeMasterPages value="0"> </IncludeMasterPages> <IncludeHiddenLayers value="0"> </IncludeHiddenLayers> <IncludeFootnotes value="1"> </IncludeFootnotes> <KanaSensitive value="1"> </KanaSensitive>
