InDesign

Ok, I'm having CONSTANT slow drag with InDesign. The spinning beach ball appears while I"m doing almost ANYTHING, even after quitting/re-starting the program, and even re-starting the OS. I'm running High Sierra on Mac, with 40GB of memory, so that shouldn't be the issue, but almost anything I'm doing, I'm getting major lag. Any ideas? This is really ridiculous. Thanks!

I've got a project where I'm using both Illustrator and InDesign. I have a font I want to use, and was able to use a Distort and Transform Effect in Illustrator to make the text match the stylized illustration.I would like to match that text style for some headers in my InDesign document (keeping the type editable). Is there a way to apply the same effect (or the same type of effect) in InDesign?The attached image shows the text with and without the effect applied for reference.

Hi I’m hoping to put my book onto Amazon for print and Kindle. Please do you mind taking a look at my screenshot below to see if it all looks set up properly. I’m asking as I’m still relatively new to InDesign and really appreciate all the help here. Question A. Text against marginsI’ve set my guides as you’ll see in the screenshot below to align to margins not pages.Is it ok to have the text right up against the margins as I have? I know that when I placed a photo right up against the margin, InDesign did not like that so I moved it further inside the margins guides. So I’m wondering if I have to move the text too.If I do have to move the text, how far inside the pink line that you see below do I have to move it?  Question B: Paragraph style check:Here’s how I’ve set up my styles. Hi InDesign Team - Can a user create folders, for organizational purposes, in the adobe publish online dashboard?  If so, how – and will this change an existing document’s link?  Thank You

Hi, I've been having Error 14 for the past 5 days now and it is urgent I an publish online. I get the same error code no matter which document I try and publish, and I've tried on a different machine. I've send the document to someone abroad who can publish it, which is strange. I've done all the methods of disabling the proxy, and the firewall and anti-virus, still with no luck. Loging out/in or re-installing InDesign or CC hasn't helped either. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. Dewi.

Has InDeisgn dropped SVG? our SVG files are loaded into CC Libraries which is now saying the SVG is no longer supported in InDesign.   <Title renamed by MOD>          

I have been using Adobe products for *decades* Why is creating interactive documents like beating my head against a brick wall?What am I missing? I have my beautiful document set up. I put my text boxes on a seperate layer. The font, size, leading, colour, alignment are all set. I go to forms and buttons and select "Text Field" (Printable, required, multiline, scrollable) Reset the Font and Font size. I go to my exported PDF and there are giant red boxes. No sample text, no Lorem Ipsum, no roll over description, and when I type... all my type settings are borked. Why? Is there a way to do this from Illustrator instead? Am I missing some kind of critical document that outlines how to work around these things? The whole design field has changed and I need to make things that are editable client-side.If anyone can point me in a direction that details how to force design minutia into "form fields" or similar I would really appreciate it. 

When I change the fill to stroke on a word, the text looks like its turned into curves, but its still editable. And because it's Montserrat, its not merged. The thing is that it only start to happen right now. I've been using this document for a couple months and its been fine.  Anyone experience some close to this and can help me?Thank you!

When several footnote numbers share a single content.It seems that it can only be adjusted manually.But there is a place where it should be to automatic:Copy out a quote superscript (quote sup) copy, and then delete its footnote (footnote).Subsequent numbering may not be consecutive anymore, only manually?

I've seen several posts claiming that you can just go to File/Export and choose text. No; this option does not exist. I have a file that's 20+ pages, all one story. I tried exporting to "InDesign Markup," which is utterly useless because it's not a markup; it's just another binary file format. Then I tried exporting to XML, which is utterly broken. What I got, for a 27-page document, was one screenful of XML with only 11 elements that contain one line of text... text that doesn't appear in the original document! I have no idea where it came from. Then I tried HTML, and got nothing but blank pages... albeit with the master pages' headers (which were graphics). The page count at least looked appropriate, unlike the tiny fragment of XML. At this point I am utterly stumped as to how this tool can be used in any kind of quality-controlled workflow. I need a way to compare the text of two documents and detect where it changed. This is esssential to our work. How are we to

Hello, in my company we had a hacker attack. It took computers to clean and deleted files that I need. they are overwritten with the shortcut "akita" but they still have their importance, I wonder if they still store any original data and can it be recovered, the question concerns indd files and pdfs, it doesn't matter to me which one I recover, as long as it works. Bonjour, je rencontre des difficultés depuis quelques temps à lors de l'application d'une feuille de style de paragraphe : les couleurs de caractères restent bloqués sur [Noir] alors que la feuille de style spécifie une autre nuance. À savoir que ce problème vient d'apparaître. J'ai fait la dernière mise à jour qui ne change rien. De plus cela fait plusieurs mois que j'ai un autre souci : en sélectionnant un bloc en cliquant dessus, il ne s'active pas, je dois déplacer le curseur de la souris en dehors du bloc pour qu'il apparaisse comme sélectionné. Très usant à la longue…  Avez-vous une idée de comment résoudre ces soucis ?

I have attached a photo of what I am seeing.  I was working on my document and I pressed something on accident I presume and these white gridlines appeared and I am curious as to how I can get them to disappear please!

Hi, hoping you can help please. I’ve set up my book using layers. All layers are locked except text. I’ve been working through the text layer, adding new paragraph breaks from the start of chapter 8, as I’m working through editing the book. But when I got to chapter 10, the locked photo there has superimposed itself onto the text. Any thoughts on why? It has happened with a few photos and the photo layers are definitely lockec.   

On macOS, we’re fortunate to have a streamlined way to create and email PDF files directly from the Print dialogue. With just a couple of clicks, we can save a document as a PDF or generate an email with the PDF attached—quick, efficient, and user-friendly. Unfortunately, this convenience does not extend to the Adobe suite. Instead of supporting the built-in macOS functionality, Adobe forces users down a less efficient path: exporting the file as a PDF and then manually attaching it to an email. This adds unnecessary steps, wastes time, and breaks an otherwise smooth workflow. Why is it this way? Is there a workaround that brings back the simplicity macOS users are accustomed to? It’s incredibly frustrating when large companies ignore native platform features that clearly improve the user experience.

For some mysterious reason my document is set up to bind on the right, which is causing my pages to export in the wrong order. I can't find where the option is to correct this -- it's not in the document setup dialogue box where i think it used to be. Weirdly, though the document is set up in USA English, when I try to copy a page over into a correctly set up file, everything pastes as Hebrew and the text flows the wrong way. Help!!

I have used indesign for many years but this has just come up - now I can't see photos, logo and sketches either striped or grey boxes. No errors in links, tried to re-link, tried to un-install InDesign, update and restart. Any one who have a solution?

Hi. I have just completed a book of around 330 pages. I purchased subscription of Indesign and copied word document into Indesign. Things seems ok till now but now the biggest issue i sto have a nice format. I need suggestions for a non fiction book. Its a business book. What shoudl be the best font for the body text ? headlines ? sub headings etc ? Is Aerial a suitable font ? Shoudl I have the same font for all with different sizes ?  

Trying to insert a second cover photo (in this case, the back cover photo) into my InDesign epub. It looks right in InDesign, but when I view it in the Kindle Previewer, it has been cropped and place at the top of the title page. (see attachments)Anybody know a fix for this?

Sorry. it seems to say to merge footnotes with the same content into one lineThere are many such cases, for example:[6] Originally cited in the original article.[7] Originally cited in the original article.[8] Originally cited in the original article. Need to merge the same on the same line. Like this:[6] [7] [8] [7] Originally cited in the original article. It's now possible to optimize it with a script:Convert the "superscripts" in the text to normal superscripts, and then delete the original superscripts?  @Robert at ID-Tasker @Barb Binder 

Hi, I've been researching this issue: when InDesign documents are set to the 'English UK' dictionary, it does not consider "z" words (ex. "compromize", "capitalization") misspelled because both "z" and "s" versions of the words are acceptable. However, since most English UK speakers/businesses prefer to use the "s" versions of these words, is there a way in InDesign to get around this issue and flag the "z" versions as incorrectly spelled? I know you can manually add/remove words in dictionaries, but there's too many different "z" words to add manually one by one. Maybe there's a GREP solution, but I've only found GREP solutions that call out 1 or more words that have a very similar type of spelling and this issue covers a broad spectrum of many different types of "z" spelled words. Is there maybe a different/custom English UK dictionary somewhere out there that can be loaded into InDesign to address this issue? Or another solution?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, tha

J'ai cherché les polices sur internet pour les télécharger. Je ne sais pas si je ne trouve pas exactement les bonnes polices mais impossible de trouver celles qui correspondent et donc de continuer à modifier mon document avec les mêmes polices.
