Hello! I have a file stored in the cloud, and I tried to save a copy to my local drive, but it crashes the app every time. When I try downloading it directly from the Creative Cloud app, I get a file — but it won’t open. The file works perfectly when opened from the cloud. Any idea why this might be happening?
Style Packs don't save to the Custom Tab in the Style Packs Panel. They save as a style pack group in Paragraph Styles. But this is useless to share across documents if you save this group to a CC Library It loses its Style Pack grouping and becomes individual paragraph styles. Using InDesign 2024 (19.4) English Noted this is in parts of other posts but seems to be associated with other issues. The Style parks are working as suggested it is just this lack of portability that I am having issues with.
Activated fonts are not appearing in the "Find/Replace" Fonts menu. They are listed in the character menu and appear correctly in the document, but are unavailable for a global replacement.Adobe will not allow me to place the png's I've made of the menus.
I'm working on a multi-page document in InDesign and keep encountering overset text issues across several text frames. I’ve tried resizing the text boxes and adjusting the font size, but the problem persists, especially when linked across pages. How can I efficiently locate and fix overset text throughout the entire document without manually checking each page? Is there a better way to automate or streamline this process?
Adobe Case ADB-39925821-R4P1 CRM:02760000005075 Subject: Urgent: Critical InDesign Failures Threatening My Business — Immediate Escalation Required Dear Adobe Support Team, As a long-standing Adobe customer and professional designer, I am compelled to express my extreme frustration and concern regarding the ongoing malfunction of InDesign since Monday. The application crashes repeatedly, corrupts my files, and has effectively halted my work — putting my business, reputation, and ongoing contracts at severe risk. I was expected to deliver my work to a client yesterday, but due to these technical issues, I was unable to meet that deadline. The timing is now even more critical, as I am preparing for an extremely important press conference. My project deadlines are extremely tight, and the continued failure of InDesign jeopardizes not only my reputation but also a key business opportunity. Despite multiple urgent support requests, I have not received a resolution — only the a
Hi,I will have to install InDesign CC on my Mac mini M4. My system includes all the fonts installed with Adobe Creative Suite CS6, that I plan to keep for as long as they are supported by the Mac OS.Adobe CC comes with a subscription to Adobe Fonts. Does this mean that the older CS6 fonts are ignored? Worse again, will they be replaced by the new Adobe Fonts? When the CC subscription ends, will I find the old CS6 fonts still installed in my system?Thank you!
I got a request to create a Pantone swatch for Violet Indigo. A few questions popped up. What is the "19-3750 TCX" mean? I looked online for the Pantone value and found this: 533. InDesign doesn't let me enter this value for Pantone + CMYK coated or uncoated. How do I find the correct value so that I can make swatch for it?
Hello, We updated to Adobe Cloud 2025 a few days ago. Today we completed the first major print job and when checking the print data, we noticed that there is a significant problem with the ‘Black’ colour created in the colour palette in InDesign, which is created by default by InDesign and cannot be deleted. We have an area in 100% magenta and above it an area with 100% black. If you write the whole thing as PDF-X4, the black area does not appear black but slightly purple. This is similar to setting the black area to multiply We then checked whether anything is set to ‘overprint’, but it is not. In Acrobat you can then see quite clearly in the output preview that the total colour application on the black is 200%. If you create your own new colour with 100% black, then everything works. Very strange.@Adobe is there a reason for this? Here are my test documents GreetingsToby <Title rnemaed by MOD>
Hi everyone, I often work on forms and print materials in InDesign where I need to display a person's exact age (in years, months, days) — especially for official documents, certificates, or medical layouts. To speed up this process, I created a simple web tool that instantly calculates precise age from a birthdate:https://حسابالعمر.com/ It's designed mainly for Arabic-speaking users and works on both desktop and mobile.I’d love any feedback — and also wondering:Does anyone here use similar tools alongside InDesign?Would an InDesign plugin version of this be useful? Thanks
I am trying to drag the bottom edge of the form to align the reference line, but when I do, the view jumps to the center line of the form.
I have used Adobe Garamond Premier Pro for several years in a publication. Now when I open the document only a few of the font styles appear. I have activated them by hand, but why won't auto activate work? It is selected in preferences.
Hello,I'm working on a newsletter and I want to tell the writers what is the maximum characters they can write for that textbox so that they can know the parameters for how much they write. How do I figure out the maximum characters that can fit in a text box? Or is there a better way to make sure that the their articles will fit in my text boxes? Please help!Kristi
I finally upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 this week, and since doing so, all boldface in the documents I am using are no longer displayed (most of the time), and definitely not exported to PDF. When I View > Display Performance > Fast Display, it still shows the boldface text. However, when I view > Typical Display, it does NOT show boldfaced fonts in boldface. Ditto when I export the file to a PDF; it's all vanilla text. Using Sitka and Sitka Text Bold. I've tried to install the Adobe version of these fonts but cannot; I get an error that duplicate fonts with that name already exist, but I cannot delete them since Windows considers them system fonts. Tried clearing the font cache, but cannot; all *FONTCACHE*.DAT and *FNTCACHE*.DAT files are in use, even when I quit out of all Adobe apps, log out of Creative Cloud, and even force-quit all Adobe and Creative Cloud processes. Tried with Arial Regular and Arial Bold, however, and that
Hi everybody, I want to recreate the image below in InDesign. But i cant figure out how. With the circle tool, i dont know how to take out a small gap as shown above, nor how to add arrowheads. With the stroke/pen tool, i cant draw a perfect circle in freehand mode, so then ill get a wobbly, wonky circle, wich does not look professional. I tried a few things with the different modes of the pen tool on an existing circle, but i could not figure it out nor get anyting good looking. Is it even possible within InDesign? I dont know, but i hope you guys know! Thanks! - Nick
I haven't seen this before and it's driving me mad. Indesign 20.3.1 on Mac Mini 2020 M1 15.4.1'Document Settings: Intent' is set to 'Print' In the attached screenshot the underlying image (map) is CMYK. It was placed without a box; when I stroked the box black it defaulted to RGB, not CMYK. I changed the stroke to CMYK.I checked 'Intent: Print' again, then created a new box: it filled RGB black. So far every new box is defaulting to RGB. What is going on? Is there a setting somewhere I've missed? With respect I don't want to trust the RIP or whatever to translate on the fly. This is a print job, how do I make RGB go away?
I am attempting to use Conditional Text in multiple documents that contain the same linked InCopy story, but the Conditional Text is malformed when I check out/check in the story. Is there a way to leverage Conditional Text and synchronize it across different documents that are not part of a book. For example, I have four different models all of which come standard with various options. Some of the models come with additional option and some with fewer. I would like to use conditional text to update the "source" InCopy story for these features so I can update in a single document then update the link in subsequent documents. The issue I've run into is that these Conditional Text values seem to shift of their own accord when the InCopy story is modified in one document then updated in another. I come from the DITA world where conditions were easily used for content reuse - is there any way to tweak InDesign's Conditional Text to function in a similar way?
I'm not sure this is an InDesign specific questions, but as it relates to documents published from InDesign… Could anyone tell me how I can size the hight of my iframe so that it 'snaps' to fit the content in an elegant way for different screen sizes? my @36646830 css is clearly not working correctly yet… http://www.wrdmag.co.uk WRD38 Spring 2025 <Link modified by MOD>
Hi all,In our plugin, we’re trying to serialize text-related settings into IDML. We’ve defined a custom scripting provider like this in our .fr file:Object{ kTextStyleRangeObjectScriptElement }, Object{ kTextObjectScriptElement }, Property{ kSliParaChangesPropScriptElement, kReadWrite }, Property{ kRuleParaChangesPropScriptElement, kReadWrite }, This should expose our properties to text-level objects like paragraphs, characters, and text style ranges. We implemented the scripting interface in our provider:ErrorCode TextScriptProvider::AccessProperty(ScriptID propID, I_SCRIPT_REQUEST_DATA* data, IScript* script) The Issue: During IDML export, AccessProperty() is only called once, and only for one ScriptID. We expected it to be called for all registered properties, especially if the attributes are attached. However, if we switch the Object{} definition to this: Object{ kTextStyleRangeObjectScriptElement }, Object{ kPageItemObjectScriptElement }, then all script ID

How to add Comments in InDesign and export as PDFs with Comments? If I add a comment in MS Word, while I export as PDF, it allows me to export comments and shows them as comments in the PDF. But there is no such feature in InDesign. Any reason when this will be available as a feature?
HelloIn InDesign, the "Load Styles" window for object styles is very limited for easily making multiple selections. Due to my automation work, I have to manage a large number of object styles.Do you know if there's already a script capable of exporting a series of object styles by specifying a subgroup to consider? The script will handle the content (subgroups and their object styles) and keep the same hierarchy.STRUCTURE EXAMPLE (of course here it's simplified):GROUP_PRINCIPAL- SUBGROUP_ALPHA-- SUBSUBGROUP_1--- SUBSUBSUBGROUP_a--- SUBSUBSUBGROUP_b--- object_01--- object_02--- object_03-- SUBSUBGROUP_2--- object_01-- SUBSUBGROUP_3- SUBGROUP_BETA-- SUBSUBGROUP_1- SUBGROUP_DELTA-- SUBSUBGROUP_1--- object_01--- object_02--- object_03Example of desired copy if i selected SUBSUBGROUP_1:GROUP_PRINCIPAL- SUBGROUP_ALPHA-- SUBSUBGROUP_1--- SUBSUBSUBGROUP_a--- SUBSUBSUBGROUP_b--- object_01--- object_02--- object_03
Hello Guys this Script I made for creating .csv files froms Indesign Works perfectly withIndesign 2025 on Windows but Does Not Work forInDesign 2021 on MacHere is the code#target indesign(function () {var dlg = new Window("dialog", "Generate QR CSV for SmartStream");dlg.orientation = "column";dlg.alignChildren = "left";dlg.add("statictext", undefined, "From:");var fromInput = dlg.add("edittext", undefined, "1");fromInput.characters = 10;dlg.add("statictext", undefined, "To:");var toInput = dlg.add("edittext", undefined, "1000");toInput.characters = 10;dlg.add("statictext", undefined, "Leading Zeros:");var zeroInput = dlg.add("edittext", undefined, "4");zeroInput.characters = 10;dlg.add("statictext", undefined, "Prefix (e.g., https://www.xymo.co/p/078873-05|050725|):");var prefixInput = dlg.add("edittext", undefined, "");prefixInput.characters = 40;dlg.add("statictext", undefined, "Prefix Font Size (pt):");var fontSizeDropdown = dlg.add("dropdownlist", undefined, ["4", "5", "6", "7
Hi everyone, I'm stuck on a pagination issue and can't find a solution online. Hoping to get some help or insights here!I want to show the current page number and next page number on the left page only on a spread. I've been able to do this using the phantom threaded text frame method, but when prepping the book to send to print, the printers require that I split spreads that have images spanning across left and right page to single pages in order to extend the bleed on both pages. By doing this page break or splitting the spread, it breaks the pagination and the threaded text frame no longer works.Appreciate anyone's insight here!
We have a lot of PDF documents flying around, and it's hard to determine who created them when edits are needed. Is there a way to have InDesign and Illustrator automatically include the author in a PDF, when exporting? The only way I know how to include the author's name is to open the PDF document after it's been exported, open Properties, add the name manually and then re-save. This is an extra step that I always forget to do (I just export and send) and it's impossible to have everybody do this. So I'd like to find a way to have this be automatically entered; we're all signed into Adobe, so InDesign and Illustrator should already know our identity.
Hello, I have an issue within InDesign 20.2 where the screen pixelates/glitches. It fixes upon zooming in or out, but it's a continuous problem.Tried setting the display performance at typical and high, the problem still occurs on both settings. I am on a Windows (a brand new computer) so there is no GPU Performance setting.Any ideas?
