I'm trying to export my work in indesign to a pdf and the colors of the images always change. The images were made in photshop and are linked to the file, the shape (that looks like a star) was made in illustrator and it didn't chage colors... The first picture below is part of the work in indesign and the second is part of the export pdf. When exported to jpg and epub the colors stay the same. I need my work on pdf, can anybody help me?
So I already have a script that selects all the images in a document and resizes them (see below) which I use all the time. Was wondering if there were some lines I could add to the script (or a seperate script) that would align all the images to the center (both horizontially and vertically) of their respective pages. I'm working with 300-page documents containing off-center images so an automated centering script would save me a lot of manual work. Current script for selecting/resizing all images:var myDoc = app.activeDocument; var graphlength = myDoc.allGraphics.length; for(a=0; a<graphlength; a++) { myDoc.allGraphics[a].absoluteHorizontalScale = 113; myDoc.allGraphics[a].absoluteVerticalScale = 113; }
Using Data merge, you can merge a data source file (CSV or TXT) to create multiple versions of an InDesign document. It is possible that you encounter error messages in this process. See the table below for the common error messages associated with data merge and how to troubleshoot them. Error Message Reason Solution The data source cannot be opened. When the source file (exported from Microsoft Excel as a CSV or TXT file) is still open in the application. Close the Microsoft Excel document and try again. The selected data source has one or more empty field names. One or more field name in the header row is missing. These include blank columns as well which must have a field name. Check the source file for missing field names. Remove any blank columns. The data source file you selected either has no record
Hi, I was given a manual to be updated but it is in PDF (They dont have the original file) So I wonder how can I import the content to Indesign and work from there. There are some plugins I can use but they charge 100 dollarsAny Ideas instead of paying 100 dollars-plugin?
Please see the attached video for a visual representation of what's happening. I've been using ID since the beta version way back in '99. But in one of the recent updates text wrap suddenly acting bizzare for me. Maybe I bumped a dumb setting somewhere? When I turn on text wrap for an image frame, it seems the wrap is applied to the content inside the image frame and not the actual frame - even when I specifically select the frame. That's fine, except when the content inside the frame doesn't entirely fill the frame (again, check the vid to see why this sux). My workaround is that I have to select the frame contents (SHIFT+ESC), cut it (CTRL+X), then set the text wrap settings to the empty frame... Then paste my image back into the box with "Paste into" (CTRL+ALT+V) so it's exactly where it was before I cut it. This doesn't seem normal. Just dumb and cumbersome (Dumbersome?). Is it a bug? Or a weird setting?
For aligning one or two points, the best way is probably to enter coordinate values, but can it be a bit slow sometimes.Wouldn't it be cool to have this feature in the alignment panel.
Does anyone have a script to override and remove master page items on the pasteboard?
Hi, I have a problem with InDesign for Kannada Unicode font. When we type words Like Busnalli (Means: In Bus) in Kannada as ಬಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿ, it is correctly demonstrated in MS word, Browser and all over. but when i call it into InDesign it will add Busnalli as ಬಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿ. Just like Carnalli (Means: in car), The font developer saying it is the problem of InDesign.
I’m having an issue with adding gifs with rounded corners in InDesign. I added it to the page and changed them to rounded corners, and it looks fine in InDesign, but when I upload the PDF to “Publish Online”, they’re all changed to sharp corners again. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
How would I remove a character symbol within a set of words? The example below has "~" that needs to be removed from the description.Huggable Suit Hangers~ Black Pkg/10 Thanks in advance

Have a PC InDesign (v. 20.3.1) user who cannot get OTF or TTF fonts to activate in any Adobe software. After having:Uninstalled all all Adobe apps (including CC)Run the Adobe CC cleaner tool as recommended + rebooted the system.Reinstalled Adobe CC & InDesignI’m posting here to see if anybody has had similar issues.Am a Mac user, so I’ve got PC blindspots. Grateful for any insight here. Many thanks! #fonts #PC
I want to use the same Illustrator shape in two different colors in InDesign (the original, which will be used with Color blending mode to affect the background, and plain white as an icon). I can't just copy/paste the path and use fill color (however tempting that might be) because I want to retain the link to Illustrator so that if I change the path there, all instances in InDesign will change accordingly. I tried different blending modes and looked through the effects, but nothing seems to do it. I was originally trying to do this project (a set of scifi book covers) mainly in Photoshop, but it was extremely slow and cumbersome, and I realized that most of it could be done much more easily in InDesign, which is also the Adobe app I'm most proficient in by far. But this little thing was possible in Photoshop with a Black-and-White smart filter, whereas I can't figure it out in InDesign.Alternatively, if there is a way in Illustrator to have two paths that are somehow "parent and
Hello As a frequent user of InDesign, I've been finding the limited functionality and slowness to rename objects within a layer a pain. Compared to other Adobe products like Premiere Pro, where you can press the spacebar to easily rename layers, InDesign is slow and painful. I've reached out to the customer service support many times with no avail to help this issue. I was recently told that "For assistance with exact script, you should post your query on Adobe Support Community, an expert from Adobe Engineering Team should be able to help" so I'm looking for help here. With some research, I found multiple forums that support the idea that a script can be created to overcome the renaming issue. The scripts allow a batch rename of layers or objects within a layer all at once, so it doesn't need to be done manually. Here are some links to those forums:https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/indd-script-for-renaming-within-layers/td-p/9649122https://community.ado
HI,Is there an easy way to modify this old script, linked below, so that it also creates character styles based on the color applied to the text? For example if the text is bold and red it creates the character style bold_red.https://creativepro.com/perfectpreptext-a-smart-way-to-style-local-formatting/Thanks
Thanks to all of you, and special thanks to @m1b @rob day But don't spray me, the scripts are definitely useful to a lot of people.I've asked before, but the thought process isn't very clear.I've made a few attempts, but it takes more than one script to accomplish it, and more than one sometimes messes it up, which is irritating. Two directions:A. Sometimes, for a new table, do the basic settings. 1. Apply table style:mytab and set the minimum row height to 7mm. 2. Set the table header while adding Continue rows. (1) Select possible table header rows (e.g. row[0] row[1]). (2) At the same time, in the table at the top of the increase in a blank line, set the exact line height of 5mm, merge and fill in "Continue", and the application of cell style "Continue". (3) conversion (1) and (2) to the header, and set up to skip the heade
In addition to entering coordinate values. When I move C down, how do I monitor “interval AC == interval AB”
I want to know if theres a way to paste mutuple images into a single image frame. I have a lot of product images that have transparent backgrounds in my creative cloud library that I use in my designs. I often layer them on top of one another and currently I make 2 seperate image frames stacked on top of one another. This gets difficult when I have a lot of stacked images on a page. Im wondering if theres a better way to place them, I want to be able to place more than one image into the same frame, like the way I do in illustrator with clipping masks. Is this possible or does anyone have a better solution?
Hello, I'm transitioning from working on my desktop to working on the cloud. I have uploaded all my assets to the CC Library, and organized them into folders. I've noticed I have many duplicates because I have both the photoshop file, and the png file, the latter I would use for placing in indesign. My goal is to relink my assets from my desktop, to their new home in the CC library, however I am finding this difficult. Each indesign template I've created has about 100-200 assets. I am noticing the following:-I cannot mass relink "search for missing links" in my CC library like I could from my desktop. Instead each asset needs to be found and linked manually.-the search function does not work when it relinking mode. I need to scroll and scroll through my assets to find the correct one. Am I doing this correctly? I can't imagine adobe pushing us to use the cloud (discontinuing sync) when their CC library is this unintuitive. Am I missing something?
I have posted a couple of pictures of something weird happening with my text box. It's like there is an object with a text wrap placed on it in the area, but there is nothing there. I've checked my master pages, I've checked there there are no locked objects, I have checked that my paragraph style ragged edge is unchecked... all to no avail. I have attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. I have even deleted everything in this area, and dragged down a new iteration from the block before, and it does the same thing. Going a bit crazy. Anybody have any idea what might be going on here?
Bug. Tracciati di illustrator importati in ID risultano con fondo bianco invece che tracciato semplice o composto... è u bug o mi perdo qiulacosa. Prima non era così
I just noticed a pop-up in the update that states you can now edit PDFs within InDesign. I haven't been able to. edit anything What am I missing? I can't find anything in the menus.
Hello all, and thank you for the help. I have searched and found a few similar posts but not the same request. I am pasting from an outside document that has formatting into indesign, and hope to retain the formatting but change the font family, size and color to my assigned Paragraph style. I have changed the clipboard handling to paste All Information. I have a paragraph style set up. I paste into the text box and it changes the size and color of the text, but does not change the font family. I will make sure that Character style is set to None on the imported text. Strangely enough if I click through different styles and back to my paragraph style it will (seemingly randomly) sometimes change the font family, but often only the first 2 paragraphs (after Hard line breaks), leaving the third with the original pasted font family. I can not seem to replicate why this happens . Something must be overriding the font styling, but I can not seem to figure
In Text Frame Options, Baseline Options there's an option to align the First Baseline Offset to a selection of Ascent, Cap Height, x-height, etc. Left at the default (Ascent), swapping through typefaces it's clear the offset doesn't align to the ascent. As I understand it, it's meant to be the lowercase 'd'. Though I haven't seen an explanation as to why it doesn't align. It makes me wonder if it instead is aligned to the top of the Em square defined in the design of the typeface. Would anyone have any confirmation or evidence of this? <Title renamed by MOD>
