I am designing a book for Print on Demand at Ingramspark. The first hardcover proof with its premium paper arrived and all the images are too light. The paperback proof copy also arrived with light images - as well as light text. The resolution was fine. There are about 150 images What is the best way for me to maintain or increase the highest color saturation of each image while meeting the printer’s 240%TAC limit? Is there something to know about the type blackness? I have set the color for all text to be 100%K in InDesign. All images are Photoshop TIFFS already converted to CMYK at 300dpi.I am using InDesign to create the book. This is a book intended for young audiences. All the illustrations are by children and do run pretty "light" in color, but I am seeing total loss of certain areas of illustrations made in pencil, for example. Appreciate any advice. I am in touch with Ingramspark, but getting no real actionable advice, other than to refer to their file set up guide. Hav
HelloHow can I export print booklet to pdf in indesign in mac?
Hi,I'd appreciate any help with the following. First, I'll describe the problem, to estabish context and also open the door for anyone who has a better suggestion than my proposed solution. The ProblemI produce a large range of product documents (user guides, product inserts etc) which use a consistent set of styles. The styles are maintained in their own InDesign document. Every time I edit a document, first thing I do is re-import all the styles, to make sure it's got the latest. This is cumbersome but I don't know of any other way to keep them all in sync. Several paragraph stylesheets (currently: 4) have numbering styles that contain text prefixes: Appendix, Chapter, Table, and Figure. (Each has its own list style.)Once the English version of a document is ready, it goes to our outsourced translation service. I give them a separate copy of the English 'source document' for each target language. We currently have 4 languages other than English but that will increase over time.Th
Hi team.I guess this is something to do with my colour set up.basically I am in the process of creating some simple one colour graphics in illustrator. And in illustrator they look just how I want nice and vibrant. However once I place them into indesign they look dull and lifeless. This would not bother me except when I export to PDF from indeisgn that dull lifeless image is carried to the PDF.If I PDF from illustrator it looks just how I want.Frustratingly in the links panel of indesign that same great colour is there but I cannot for the life of me work out why in the document it looks dull and int he PDF too, I really need help on this as its for a tender which needs to be in by the end of the weekend. To clarify I am not worried so much about absolute colour correction, i.e. calibrating screens etc, my problem is illustrator looks great, indesign looks dull.
Hi all! My goal is to have text update across pages and maintain the paragraph style on the page. As you can see in the above example, when I change the text (story) on page one (black text color) then try to update the link to page two (red text color) I get the message 'Edits have been made in linked story "<Page 1>". You will lose these edits by updating. Update anyway?' Which is telling me that my edits (paragraph style/red color) on page two will be lost when I update the link. That's what I don't want! I want to maintain the edits when updating the link so that the text on page 2 stays red (or sized differently etc) even when the text (story) changes. I tried using the 'Link Options: Story and Objects' (pictured below) panel by selecting both links in the links panel, right clicking and selecting 'link options' which gives me the checkboxes for Appear under 'Preserve Local Edits while Updating Object Links' This seems like
Latest version of Indesign (20.2) is removing bold fonts on some of the pages. I reverted back to 20.0 and working ok
I have a 38-page document created in InDesign 20.3 x64 (Windows 11) for print. I need to publish the document online. I created a menu on the master page with a pancake to get the menu to appear. In the menu, I created a separate button for each of the publication's sections. I then set the GO TO PAGE to each of the respective pages. When I publish the document online the menu does what I want it to do, but when I click on the section buttons, the links go to the wrong page. It looks like the links are all off by 2 pages. I've tried doing the links as hyperlinks, which does not work. The community has been so helpful to me in the past, and I appreciate everyone's help. Hope you all can help again.
Good day -I'm trying to work on a design document, but since updating InDesign 2025, when I'm scrolling pages in the document, I get the spinning beachball.Currently I'm working on a MacBook Pro - Apple M2, and using Sonoma 14..7.5 Does this mean I need to look into upgrading to the Sequoia MacOS? Or is there another work-around? I've forced InDesign to quit, and restarted my computer a couple of times. And rather than doing the recovery thing again, I said no to that when reopening InDesign (didn't do anything the first couple of times I did say yes to that)Thanks in advance!

I have been using Calibre to create and design reflowable ePubs from PDFs. My process has been to convert the PDF into an ePub file and then reformatting the ePub for widespread use across various devices. I have heard that some ebook designers use Indesign to create and design their ebooks. However, a quick Google search tells me that they only use Indesign for fixed-format ePubs, not for reflowable ePubs. Is all of this true? Should I invest in an Indesign subscription or stick with Calibre? What are some things Indesign can do that 1) Calibre cannot do and 2) would be helpful to me as an ebook designer?
I'm replacing data in a table in a multi-page catalog document. In the past, I've been able to copy a column (or multiple columns) from Excel, highlight the corresponding columns in InDesign and then paste them. And it's worked as expected--the data in InDesign is updated with the proper data. But, for the last year, when I try to copy and paste from Excel into an InDesign table, InDesign creates extra rows and columns of empty data. In the second part of this short video, I highlight the cells in InDesign that shouldn't be there.
What does this icon mean in the links panel?
I may be expecting InDesign to do something it isn't designed to do but, as with Illustrator & Photoshop, I expect to be able to see a checkerboard where there is transparency & I can't figure out how to show that. Is that an option?
Hello, I have had Indesign 2023 , and just formatted my computer. When reinstalling from the creative cloud I have now the latest version which is nothing like the 2023. I really don't like this new version and find it is not user friendly. I tried installing an earlier version but the earliest was 19.0 and it was exactly the same. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
My client wants to use the Adobe Cloud commenting features to review and make edits for a report im working on. After creating the Share for Review Link with my "Company X"contact and an external group that reviews as well, I would like to now disable the external group's ability to comment. Everyone was told a "Pens down" date for no additional comments for this round so we can make edits and prepare the next draft, but there are people that continue to make comments on it - which is proving complicated to keep trac of now.The only way I see is to UNSHARE the document - but that unshares it with my "CompanyX" contact who needs to see all those comments and make sure I have implimented them. Im sure Im missing something simple because if I cant keep people from commenting this is going to turn into a nightmare.
I'd need to create numbered headers that dynamicly link to a footers or running header at the base of the Page (see attched visual).
Hello,I am creating some word search puzzles using Tables. I have all the letters centered vertically and horizontally in the cells using styles. Everthing looks perfect in indesign but once exported to PDF the last 1-2 rows of every table are shifted to the left/right side. I used a monospaced font to make sure everything looks even but these last rows are not cooperating. Please see photo below: Photo below this is the same as above but with strokes around the cells so it's easier to see. Top row everything is centered. As it moves down it moves more and more to the side. Again, this is only how it looks AFTER exporting. In Indesign every is aligned perfectly.I tried adding diagonal strokes to the cells just to see what happens when exported and then everything was magically aligned... See pic below: So... then I tried keeping the diagonals in the cells but setting the stoke weight to 0pt aaaand everything is misaligned again. I found a super cr
There have been a series of changes in the past two years or so around how InDesign exports EPUB, specifically around accessibility improvements. If you'd like to know more about the how and why of those changes, I encourage you to attend this webinar where we'll go over what's changed, what will be updated soon, and what's left to fix up. I'm working on a document in InDesign and I have a section that I want to remove. However, when I delete the section, it messes up my overall page numbering. How can I remove a section but keep the page numbers flowing correctly through the entire document? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hallo an Alle, ich hätte eine Frage bitte, und zwar habe ich vor einingen Jahren meinen ersten MAC gekauft und mir die Adobe CS 5 dazu geleistet. Dear Community, I have been using Indesign since CS2 and I have never came across this particular problem before. I am hoping someone here can help me. I have 7 seperate indesign documents each from a data merge. Each document has close to 300 pages. What I need is very simple but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it efficiently. I need to export multiple page ranges for each indesign document and have each range be a seperate pdf. Here's an example of what I mean. Indesign Document:1-2, 4-5, 7-16, 18-19, 21-30, 32-35, 37-38, 40-49, 51-52, 54-57, 59-74, 76-79, 81-82, 84-85, 87-92 I need a way to export so that basically the comma means *NEW PDF*. The only way I found so far to do this is to manually export the ranges 1 at a time which takes literally hours to go through each id file OR I found 1 plugin this morning that may do it called "extract Pages". https://www.id-extras.com/products/extract-pages/ There's got to be an easier way r
I'm working on a large (500+pg) technical manual-type document. Many pages are placed PDF's that someone else created in Word. The exported (from Word) PDF's have hyperlinks built-in such as "CLICK HERE to access the supplemental video" (not a typed-out URL). These links work fine in Acrobat. They even work fine if I combine a bunch of those PDF's together via Acrobat. But if I try to place the PDF's into my InDesign document, only the typed URL links or Mailto: links work (such as "ourcompanyname.com" or contactus@company.com, , none of the "CLICK HERE" style links work. Is there any way to incorporate these PDF's from Word, with clickable links, into my InDesign document so when I export my final PDF, they are still clickable/active without having to re-build every one of them as a button in InDesign? There are far too many to do that and it would be a nightmare when the document needs to be updated/page flow changes and them I'm trying to find and move all the button
I'm very new to InDesign.I've created a numbered list and a paragraph style for the numbered list. I'm using the same indent, negative first line indent, and tab for the whole thing, and it's set in the paragraph style also.Everything works great until I reach the number 10 on the list, then for 10, 11 and all numbers after that, the next is indenting massively. I've looked at the Bullets and Numbering options for those specific lines and they look identical to everything else.I also have hidden characters turned on and I see nothing there to give me any clue as to why it's indenting.I have a picture just below it on it on the design so thought it might be a text wrapping thing, but deleted the photo and it changed nothing.I've searched online on all I see is issues with counterbalancing the first line indent with the left indent for numbered lists. Nothing on this happening to 2 digit numbers only in the numbered list.
Help! All my automatic hyphens disappear when exporting a pdf. First I thought it was all hyphens but in closer inspection all soft- and discretionary hyphens remain. I've tried everything from uninstalling, downgrading, updating, restarting my computer... Nothing seems to work. I packaged the file and sent it to a friend and he was able to output a pdf with the hyphens, but I can't do it on my own inDesign (using the latest version, legit Cloud version)
Hello there. I have a document set up, A4 facing pages. I want to add an A3 page in landscape (essentially 2 A4 stuck together) so that when exported as PDF this page has no line down the middle. I can do it to an extent however in the resultant PDF I Have the A3 landscape, but the next A4 page tacked onto to the right. I though therefore I would set the document to not facing pages and sure enough in the pages panel everything looks great A4s next to each other and the A3 aligned. But again when exported it tacks the next A4 page to it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this/ Cheers
