Last year, I had this same problem, and it's happened again. I tried all the things i did before, to no avail.I can't get the cursor to load on placed text. I'm placing a docx file, and I've done this a hundred times with no problem. What could possibly keep the cursor from loading?ID CC, Windows 10.HERE'S WHAT I POSTED LAST TIME:UPDATE: I tried this with an .rtf version of the file, the cursor loaded, but the text frames were not automatically created as usual. And there is no overset text indicated by a red X. When i click on that spot anyway, the cursor loads again, but shift-clicking onto the second page has the same result. It's like autoflow is turned off.okay, in case this helps anyone else, i got everything to work. Here are my notes:Malwarebytes was apparently locking the file. (I was so mad, I got rid of it, cancelled my subscription--no one should be able to lock you out of your own files).i did go to properties for my publishing folder and did the right click TAKE OWNERSHIP

As you can see by the screen shots, some of the thumbnails in my Pages panel are not lined up. Project Description: I have a scrapbook of letters sent home during WWII (the original scrapbook is fragile and falling apart ... hence this project). I want a photo of each "Full Scrapbook Page" to start a new section/chapter, and have it appear on odd pages. Then, I want each letter or postcard to appear on their own separate page.  Two problems at this time:I'm having trouble getting each Full Scrapbook Page to appear on odd pages.Why are the thumbnails of pages out of alignment (not side-by-side). I've looked in the Adobe documentation and have watched countless YT videos.Thanks tons for any assistance. 

I have an Excel file with over 2,000 entries going over 13 columns, the 13th column is a description which needs to run underneath the other 12 columns. I can do that in Excel fine BUT when I copy and paste the text or import it from Excel to Indesign to be able to turn it into a table that description ends up in column 1 rather than running across all the columns. So I then have to merge that row for it to get the result I want. I have over 1,000 rows to merge and cannot select more than one alternate row at a time. This doesn’t take hours it takes days. Has anyone come across anything like this before or anyone got any solutions. Note to Adobe: Please fix this next time, either an option to select more than one alternate row at a time or something in the setting up of a table. Thanks

How can I craeate text out of my own icons?

Hello, I have the following problem in InDesign 2025.I am trying to transform the CMYK color [41,46,56,36] to RGB color using the colorTransform method and the return value is [0,0,0] RGB color. Why? What am I not setting or doing wrong?If I look at this color with the eyedropper in InDesign, it shows values ​​of R: 117 G:103 B:88 The value does not improve even if I try to convert it to Lab or HSB first Regards: Árpad

Mac M4 running OS 15.3..1Indesign 19 Let's say I'm putting together a book of poetry and I have individual poems in individual InDesign files. It's all text.I want to put together a master file, with all the individual files in there, so that I can generate a booklet.When I try to "place" a poem into the master file, which is just another InDesign files with lots of pages, it places as a graphic. When this happens, obviously, I can't edit or format the text anymore.I've looked at all the various "place" options and, it seems to me, no matter what I do, any time I "place" another file, it's a graphic.Is there a way to import/place one file into another, again it's all just text, and have it come in as text?  I know I can cut and paste but that's seems like an incredible waste of time and would force me to open/close 50-60 files at once. Thanks for your advice - Stu

Does anyone here know how to add a MindSuite Pro 2025 to InCopy? It only works on InDesign, and I have not found any way to add it to InCopy at all.As for customer service of mindsteam software, it does not answer questions or respond to any inquiries.There are many bugs!! 

I have a document which is full of imported tables that have the basic indesign style applied to them, I want to somehow select all of the tables at once, apply a different table style to them, and clear any overrides, does anyone know of a script or other quick way to do this? 

Hello, I have a swap script which works. But if a user selects two objects on unconnected pages it fails to work. Our 3 person graphics department is working on a updating a 15 section 350+ page catalog in InDesign CC2017. We've created a book file and are making changes to the different sections (opening them only through the book file) but are finding revisions that have been made were not saved when we re-open the sections later in the day or the following day. There are always multiple sections in the indb panel with yellow caution triangles saying the document was modified outside the book file which is odd since the sections are opened only through the indb file.The catalog is entirely product based and all the text has paragraph and character styles applied.

Problem: Chapter titles, that are set in paragraph styles to be certainfont, size, and centered, and showing up left justified, and smaller, in the epub.Objectives: fix this style issue in epubWhile also keeping the page break before the Chapters that I want in the epub so that it doesn't flow together. Bonjour,J'ai un souci conceranant la réorganisation des pages de mmon document.Mon cliquer-glisser ne fonctionne pas, j'ai un "sens interdit" qui apparait.J'ai bien décocher "autoriser la réorganisation des pages du document" ainsi que "autoriser la réorganisation de la planche sélectionnée", mais cela ne fonctionne pas.Ce qui est fou, c'est que lorsque je donne la main à distance à mon formateur, cela fonctionne.Si vous pouviez m'aider.Merci d'avance. 

When I highlight text in indesign to type over it, the first letter I type doesnt actually type over it. It does absolutely nothing. After that first letter the rest writes over it correctly.For instance, if I have the word "cat" and I highlight it and want to type "dog" over it, when I hit "d" it does nothing, but the "og" will type.Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thank you.

When a line or shape or path is selected in Illustrator, there is an option to change the width profile from Uniform to different options. I want to use this same feature in InDesign. I don't know if it's hidden or simply not possible.If it's not possible, does anyone have any suggestions, because when I copy and paste from Illustrator into InDesign, it converts the path into a shape...Thanks in advance!

Bonjour je voulais savoir s'il était possible de remplacer un glyphe par défaut par un autre. Par exemple quand je crée un fichier InDesign et que j'y insère du texte la lettre "a" vient par défaut (Fond rouge-capture d'écran) et j'aimerai que par défaut avoir l'autre "a" (Fond vert-capture d'écran) sans que je doive le faire manuellement. Merci pour votre aide. 

Indesign 2025 est extrêment lent sur MacbookPro M4, c'est honteux!!!D'autre part il semblerait qu'il y est plusieurs buggs entre les paragraphes contenant une note de bas de page et un bloc ancré au niveau de l'appel de note… En espérant qu'Adobe se ressaisisse!!!!¡¡¡¡

I compose long complex books that have both footnotes and endnotes, and I need the ability to restart the foot- and endnote numbering at the beginning of each new chapter. A while back when I posted to this forum, I was able to download a script called StorySplitter.jsx that enabled me to restart foot- and endnote numbering at the beginning of each new chapter. The script "SplitStory.jpx" that comes with Indesign DOES NOT perform the same function and will split text on ALL pages. StorySplitter.jsx script no longer functions with INDD 2025. Can anyone please supply an update to StorySplitter or a workaround? If so, thank you!

Bonjour à tous, visiblement j'ai un bug au moment de la sélection de texte dans Indesign 19.5 L'affichage devient blanc. !!! et saute. Je suis en Mac - Sonoma 14.2... Quelqu'un aurait une idée, parce que là, c'est très agaçant et Indesign est inutilisable !!!!

Hallo!Viele viele Jahre ist es her, aber ich kann mich erinnern dass es für Indesign einen Script oder Plug-in gab, wo mir alle verwendeten Verknüpfungen in einem Dokument in den verschiedenen Ordner im Finder suchte und z.b. Grün einfärbte. Ich weiß es gibt die Paket-Funktion, aber manchmal möchte man die Ordner mit jede Menge Bilder behalten und nur die im Dokument verwendeten Verknüpfungen gekennzeichnet haben.  Kennt jemand noch diese Funktion? Ich finde leider mit Google nichts...Dankeschön!

Check the first line, it is very tight (no spacing). This is in Indesign 2024 & 2025.  Now check this, same text in Indesign 2023 Here the spacing is proper. To get this type of setting in 2025 we have to turn on the Enable legacy in Advacnced Type I am also attaching a sample indd. How to fix this in newer versions of indesign without relying on the legacy option, as it wont be around for long?

Up until a few years ago I had no issues with my CMYK colours displaying on the screen as they would when printed.  Now they are vastly different - eg. to get a dusty orange, the cmyk values show on my screen as quite a bright orange. Even viewing after export as PDF it's the same bright colour.  We had to go through a lot of swatches to get it to print the right colour. I've now had to change printers and will most likely be using online services. I'd just like to feel confident that what I see on the screen is as close as possible to the printed product. Would really appreciate some help in setting up indesign settings to show this!

I can see and select objects, and sometimes content previews show up in the pages dialog, but I routinely have issues with all of my open files where there is just nothing showing up. No pages. No Boxes. Only when I hover over something can I see that the content actually still is there. The only thing that fixes it is a restart.Changing views between Preview and Normal does nothing.  My coworkers said they also have this issue.
