InDesign

Hi, Today the mouse movement in InDesign (20.1) is acting very strange. All the text, object is jumping to the left when I want to move it. I tried to rebote the computer and remove the preferences to default. Nothing helps. My mouse on Photoshop and Illustator is working fine. Even on the beta version of InDesign the mouse behaviour has the same strange jumps. Can someone help me fix this problem?

Hello everyone, I don’t have much experience with Adobe applications and could use your help. I need to modify an existing PDF file by widening the linework by about 3-4 pixels. Could someone guide me on how to make these changes?

I updated InDesign today, 4/06/2017. Now it crashes all the time.My system is an iMac mid 2011.

Is anyone else having issues copying and pasting images within a document? There was an update a few days ago and I'm wondering if there's a bug. I'm in the middle of putting together a big presentation and yesterday I suddenly couldn't copy and paste elements within a page or to a subsequent page, instead the image appears 15-20 pages later. Doesn't matter how many times I select the page I want to paste onto from the page itself, the pages panel, or both, it will not paste into that page. I've done all the usual suspects - up to date on all software, hardware and drivers. Rebooted the system and run InDesign with nothing else running. There is nothing wrong outside of InDesign. It's impossible to work with any speed or flow and it's driving me insane, yet I can't find anyone else on the internet complaining of this issue. Does anyone have any insight? Kinda desperate here!

Hi everybody,I would like to make a list in which my images appear with the sources. For example, I have the following figure caption ‘Fig. 7: Germany physical’. The source is ‘Botaurus-stellaris, CC BY-SA 3.0 Via Wikimedia Commons’. The figure number should automatically appear in the list next to the source. Should I create an Excel file where I enter the caption and the source? And then what? Any suggestion?Or will I have to complete it manually just before printing?By the way, this time also I have some good advice: my editor's graphic designer has sent me two screenshots made with ID Tasker for Indesign, must be a great tool as far as he tells me and I can understand (see pictures attached).Thanks in advance for your help!Marlene 

does anyone have a script/grep code/or asian dictionary I could import use in InDesign to ensure Asian characters dont break incorrectly within indesign? without using the CJK InDesign version?

I am creating a 1/2 fold brochure on 8.5x11 paper. I've attached a screenshot of the Properties panel. My document is a multiple of 4. 12 pages divided by 4 equals 3 sheets of paper. When I attempt to export the PostScript file, InDesign tells me that 2 blank pages have been added to create the booklet. All pages contain text and/or graphics.  I create booklets on 11x17 paper all the time and have never had this issue. What step have I missed in my document set up?

 is it possible to track  clicks on these adobe generated qr codes? if so how? if not I understand already created codes won't nessisarilty have the correct data in them.. whats the simplest way to use/ intrgrate  this into this service.. or should I look at another generator?or could the folks at Adobe look at making this an easy part of the generator.. I cant be the only person wanting to know how many folks have used a QR code --right?  

I have the feeling I've asked this before but I can't bring any answer to mind.   Is there any way to export a Unicode glyph-code directly to exported output (EPUB or HTML) without it being modified into text? I seem to recall some code, setting, override... something.   For example, if I put ࢐ in text and export it to EPUB, I get... "blah blah ࢐ blah blah" in the XHTML output. If I edit '&' to just '&' — boom, I get the left-arrow I wanted.   So is there any way to mark or flag that code for export without the modification? I feel as if I'm missing something, and that something may be "no, you can't do that." 🙂   I've discovered that if you cut and paste the actual glyph (from a symbols web page, for example) it may show a Dreaded Pink Box in InDesign, but seems to export exactly as desired. Looking for a better method, though.     ETA: I've also discovered there's a very peculiar little script in the Community

Hi Team, I am sorry for being so unspecific but I would not even know how to google it. Please see the screenshot, and the three red arrows. Showing the pages it suddenly shows these three columns (before that there was just one, I have no idea what changed. It happened while doing indesign tutorials) - and it does that now on EVERY indesign file I open. I already did a reset on all indesign presets, it did not help...Help would really be appreciated!!    Kind regards

Hello,I'm writing a text with a lot of inline math equations and references to variables. Inserting a MathML object works, where it automatically adjusts the offset from the baseline. However, if I edit the object again, the offset doesn't update according to the new elements. The same also happens if I copy an object (say a variable) to a different part of the text, the offset resets to zero. I have to go into edit MathML on the object I want to copy, copy the MathML, go to the part of the text I want, insert MathML. And it's really tedious. Is this just because the feature is in its infancy? Is it a bug? Or is there something I'm missing? Perhaps there's a hotkey to automatically adjust offset?

So.. 300 page project starts giving this error in some pages, tables still visible but no page, no photos. they are still there but I cant visualize them, when I export it just doesnt let me. I need urgent help, pls someone help me 😕😕

Hi Team, We are trying to fetch metadata of indd file from indesign server 2024 but we are  unable to extract font properties of text frames of some fonts version . ex : Helvetica Neue Lt COM. This font is having two versionsbeing used in indd file one is regular and another is bold. For regular version we are able to get all the properties successfully but for bold some trivial properties we are not getting like : postscriptname, specifically on windows virtual machine. The same issue is occuring for multiple fonts on VM only.For the same file we tried locally (by using indesign application) in both windows and mac and it is working fine.  Everybody Please help us !! It's critical for us. Thanks!!  

When I try to relink a missing library item I can't search for it.The top bar is greyed out.I can only search when I am not trying to relink.I have thousands of items and they are sorted alphabetical instead of in the groups I created.I tried telling the options panel to collapse groups but this never works in relinking mode, only when not relinking.

Based on a post from yet another terminally confused novice today, and too many over the years, I present trivial UI fixes for comment and possible action:   Confusing as hell to novices, not unknown to trip up more experienced users. Looks like the checkbox controls both keep options, leads to hours of rage when paragraph lines won't behave as expected:   5 minute fix that probably doesn't even require a full testing protocol, clearer if still not as perfectly clear as it could be:    10 minute fix, would likely require testing cycle but essentially eliminates the confusion by even a brand new user: (Maybe default to/limit lowest number of lines to 1 just for an added sparkle of clarity?)   Absolutely zero actual functionality/core code change required with either. All just UI layout and hooks.   Maybe a visiting Employee can pass this along, saving a tedious year of marinating in the Suggestions box.

I can't figure out why this is happening. Another user posted about it in 2016, and the post was moved to the "epub forum" and was never answered. I have known of the (theoretical) existance of this forum, but seems like something changed on the website and we can't actually search for anything in that "forum" or post anything directly to it—even if we add the epub subject tag. But trying anyway. The file is currently built in CC2018 and I have not really run into this before. The chapters are in a Book file. There is no overset text, nor extra returns or page breaks at the ends of the file. All text and objects are in a single thread in the documents. When previewing the epub in iBooks there seems to be anywhere for 5 to 16 or so added blanks. looking at the HTML in the unzipped files these are divs with a uniquely numbered image container and a class, within a Basic Text Fram class. Hi, I have been developing EPUBs using Indesign. But, recently I see, InDesign export using Section, figure tags instead div in certain places like images, footnotes. <section class="_idFootnotes" role="doc-endnotes"> These are not recognized by Sigil epub component and giving validation errors. I tried with both Indesign 2025 and 2024. Both are exporting the same. This is something new compared to last versions. Did anyone faced the same issue? Is it possible to export without these Section and figure classes? Best Regards,Eswari

Bonjour,Je monte un document avec beaucoup de texte en arabe.Le problème c'est au niveau des ponctuations, les points notamment. Lorsqu'ils sont au milieu d'un paragraphe tout va bien, mais s'ils sont à la fin d'un paragraphe et que suit un passage à la ligne, le point va se décaler en fin de ligne et pas en fin de phrase. Un exemple ci-dessous plus clair :Le point devrait être à gauche, pas à droite. Il en va de même pour les parenthèses qui ne s'alignent pas correctement.Pour info, j'utilise la typo Adapter Arabic Text, et je suis en Compositeur de paragraphe universel Adobe.Une idée ?Merci d'avance.

Ich habe InDesign CS6 neu instalieren müssen weil der PC abgestürzt ist.Bei der Installation wird mir jetzt der Fehler angezeigt, dass InDesign bereits auf 2 Endgeräten instaliert wäre. Deaktivieren kann ich es leider nicht, da der alte PC abgestürzt ist und kein Zugriff mehr darauf besteht. Auf einem 2ten PC ist es nicht instaliert. Wie kann ich die Seriennummer wieder für meinen aktuellen PC freigeben?!

Why arent' the fonts adding when clicking on 'add' by the character dropdown??
