When our cursor is in a table, we definitely want to manipulate the table, and here we should call up the table's panels, but we don't.It would be nice to be able to set up panels to bring up custom combinations. 

how can I get all pages to be side by side including page 1?When I shuffle them they just get more botched up... 

I don't know what I may be doing wrong, but some of my buttons still show even after I click on them to fill the form that's below them. I think I'm following the exact same steps for all of them, and yet some (Month, Day, Year and Background and Context) appear as slightly grayed-out,a dn when clicked won't disapear. Instead, I am typing text in the fillable form over the button text (see Background and Context) All others (like subject for instance work perfectly and the button hides as soon as I click on it so I can type in the interactive text box below it). What mistake am I making? BIG THANKS FOR YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM!

In a multilingual book, all footnotes and reference numbers have been formatted according to English writing conventions. However, in some Arabic sentences, the reference numbers naturally appear on the left. How can I move these reference numbers to the right without affecting the layout of the Arabic text?

We are currently developing our InDesign Plugin using InDesign SDK(C++).Purpose of this post is actually to get suggestions for a tool/toolchain that supports memory leak checking in our product, for both Windows and Mac environments. (Our development environments are Visual Studio 2022 in Windows and XCode in Macintosh)My Idea is we will need to utilize InDesign Debug version as the host for this right?What tools/toolchains you guys usually use?(crtdbg maybe??) BEGGING FOR HELP! Need to get this file to client yesterday...😱Does anyone know why one word insists on breaking to the next column?'keep options' is turned off in it's paragraph style; there's not a single character style applied to the word AND columns are set to 'unbalanced' ... it makes no sense! [basic Paragraph] style DOES have 'keep lines together' (At start/end of paragraph  | Start: 2 lines | End: 2 lines are the settings) Is it possibly something to do with that?! I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I thought I'd post it anyway to help others avoid frustration.I've been working in an ID document created in v13.1 for the last few months. It's a simple 32-page product catalog. For the first draft, made several months ago, in v13.0, I produced a TOC from the page headers. The "create TOC" worked perfectly, using my character/paragraph styles as desired.After the latest client revisions this week, more information was added (copy, pics, vector art). When I went to update the TOC, InDesign crashed. It crashed even when I tried to delete the text box containing the TOC. Performing any TOC function caused the program to instantly crash.I tried resetting the program prefs, but it didn't help.What did repair my corrupt file was this:The first approach to debugging an InDesign file that crashes is to save it (export, in versions earlier than CS6) as an IDML. Opening the IDML in InDesign will create a new INDD based on the saved XML information.T

Hello!I was using InDesign on my Windows laptop and everything was working just fine two days ago. I turned my computer off (saved my InDesign file and closed the application). When I turned on my computer yesterday it said loading fonts so I gave it time but half an hour later it still showed the background tasks to be 'activating font' I tried to go on the Creative Cloud desktop app and the fonts page would just show the loading sign.I tried to log out of my CC app and on the InDesign, multiple times now and tried to turn off the auto-activate fonts ( edit>< preferences > file handling)But still, the same issue today, I am not sure what to do. Could someone please help me!! I have attached some images to show you what I mean. Should I maybe remove and re-add the font? But it still isn't loading on the cc desktop app so I'm not sure that will help. ( PS - I tried to see if the font would work on Photoshop but when I search the font the font will not s

Hi! I have been trying to learn how to use adobe fonts but when I try to click the cloud symbol to activate the fonts nothing happens, it just comes up with a bar that says "click to activate font" but nothing happens when I do. I was wondering if anyone new an easy fix to get this working?

Hi everybody out there,I am getting crazy (just as Indesign does):The numbering of the images in InDesign was completely messed up; there was no solution because every time I anchored an image, the numbers got scrambled. Now I wanted to unanchor _one_  image (using the Haesel AllesEntankern script), and all 106 images have become unanchored. The numbering is more or less correct now. But I'm afraid to close the file because when I open it again, everything will definitely be scrambled. I attach a screenshot, so you can better understand what I mean, when I speak about many pictures.Moreover ... from one chapter 35 images have disappeared (I was just about to replace them). The text is there, but the images, image frames, and captions are not.Let alone the text changing page when it pleases to do so... (see screenshot).I save regularly, including in IDML format, but my deadline is approaching, and I'm starting to despair.If nobody can help me here, I would be ready to pay an e

I've a file from a book printing edited in InDesignCC some years ago. Everything is fine, when I open the file with InDesign CC.But if I open the same file on the same machine (Windows 11), it says at the beginning, that 3 fonts are missing. Why? Same file, same machine (and therefore installed fonts). 

I am using the Export to HTML5 feature that's now an option under Publish Online. But does aanyone know how to make the InDesign HTML5 Export crop at the boarder of the InDesign document? For example when you, export an Indesign file normally any overlapping images or shapes that fall outside of the crop box will be cropped. However with export to HTML5 this for some reason isn't happening.Essentially, I have a few videos that purposely overflow out of the document (for the design asthetic I've gone for). But when I export for HTML5 it has kept everything outside of the crop box, so none of the pages are the same size as it is contained things outside of the boarder.  Any thoughts on how to solve this?I've attached aa screen shot, and you can see where the border should be cropping (anything with white space should be cropped).I have the most up to date version of InDesign that was updated this week.

Dear InDesign-users,I am facing the following problem with InDesign CS2 and I hope you can help me.I have a logo (EPS, in black with a transparent background, so the logo is isolated). Now, I want to change the black of the logo to some Pantone color.As far as I have understand, I have to make a non-transparant PSD, TIFF, BMP or JPG file of my EPS-file to change the color in InDesign. However, I have to place the logo over some other images, so I need the transparent background.The only solution I could image was to multiply the transparency of the image, but this also blurs the color.What would you suggest to do, when I want to change the color while maintaining the transparent background? I have a table that I am filling out for a small booklet. I have 3 columns in this table. The last column has contact info. There is still plenty of room to type in this "box" but for some reason, my text is disappearing. For example, on the line it says: incometax@And then the rest of the email disappears on the next line but I can't seem to see it anywhere and there is just a lot of white, blank space underneath.The same thing happens in the next box in the next row and in one of the boxes on the next page. All of the rest of the boxes seem fine and unaffected. 

Having an issue where InDesign files can open either as “Read only” files, or turn into “Read Only” files while working within file. Seems to happen when there are multiple InDesign files open. This prevents user from saving work. The user would have to do a “save as” and rename the file for it to save. Because our files are on a shared drive, we’re thinking that the problem could be related to that. Additionally, we’ve unchecked the partially checked read only box in the properties window of the file folders in question, but it seems to be partially checked the day following the change. Also using the latest version of InDesign and just did a windows update. Multiple users on the same network have been exposed to this problem and if you don’t notice  “Read only” in the tab, you could lose completed work.

Help!!  I am trying to perform a Data Merge in InDesign (which I have done many times). However, the issue I am having is getting multple records (sequential numbers) on a SINGLE page. Please see attached PDF showing what I am trying to acheive. I have 200 part numbers in a .CSV data file. In the originating Excel file, the numbers are listed in Column A, with the heading "NUM". My InDesign document is set up as a single page, 8.5x11. When creating the merged document, it repeats the first part number on page 1, the second number on page 2, and so forth.... I have tried playing with the Multiple Record Layout settings but it is not working. How do I get it to put unique numbers on each page rather than repeating the same number? Details in summary:Avery label page size - 8.5x115 labels per page (each label has one part number on it - see attached)200 part numbers / 5 labels per sheet = 40 sheets

Hi everyone !Here I wanna make a Watering timetable (schedule) for each of my 6 Classes1- Each Class is divided into 2 groups : Group 01 and Group 02 with a LIST of NAMES2- Schedules (8h to 9h, 9h-10h, 8h-10h (sometimes for merged cells) , 10h-11h, 11h-12h, 10h-12h (sometimes for merged cells))3- Days from monday to saturdayCan someone help please with Screenshots or Excel sheet ! IMAGES below:

I use a laptop and things are fine. However, when I move my window onto my second (much larger, so I can see) monitor, I can't move objects the same.  When I click using the selection tool and attempt to move the object and/or text, the selected object randomly jumps to a location left and down from where my cursor is.  If I move the window back to my laptop, it works fine again.  Help! This is hard to explain and I'm not super technologically inclined.   All I know is I've been using this same laptop and second monitor for over a year and now, all of a sudden, it's decided not to work the same.

I cannot see any previous questions on this.  I'm increasigly opening older CC ID files. And increasingly seeing the same problem. When it's opening them it's locking nearly all if not all of the text frames on the page.  This has been happening to be for the past few revisions of ID. But it seems to be getting worse.  Obvious answers out the way.Thay are not on locked frames or locked object or master page items.  The only way I can edit the text frames is to highlight the copy and copy and paste it into a whole new text frame on page. Then I can edit the copy. This isn't a one off. It's happening quite often now on older files. I would say 3 out of 10 old files opened.  Any ideas or is this a bug.  thx!

Is there a way to create a master TOC for the top of the document showing both chapter headings and subheadings, and create separate chapter TOC's which shows just the subchapters within that chapter?

Please help if possible - I posted yesterday but cannot find the post. I am redesigning an InDesign document from another designer, and I am unable to use some of the fonts he used so I am replacing the fonts. The Replace Fonts feature will not replace certain fonts (Gotham) and so I tried to do it manually. Now I am unable to replace this or other fonts at all. This is a large document so it would be best not to have to recreate it from scratch!Thanks!
