Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with interactive buttons in Adobe InDesign. When I create them and export my file as a PDF, they work perfectly on my laptop using Adobe Reader. However, when I try to open the same PDF on my Android phone, the interactive buttons don't work. I would really appreciate any insights or solutions to this issue. Hello!I am adding in images (JPG) into an indesign file for printing. The images are too small so i am resizing them in photoshop. But after i have resized them, the effective PPI changes to 300x298 - meaning there is a distortion. But i dont understand HOW there is a distortion? I have added screenshots of the settings from the original image (that has an OK effective PPI in indesign, but is too small) and from when I have added in my changes. What am i doing wrong? I can size it up a little without it 'distorting' but i need it this big  to get the 300PPI and I don't know what to do

Hi!  I am saving  a file tfor printed, its quite big 6990mmx2980mm, so I have made the file 50%. I am now adding in images, and for one of them, instead of just saying something like Effective PPI: 300 it says Effective PPI: 131x129. What does this mean? Why is is not just a number?Also - placing TIFs is just gonna make a monster file - can I add JPGs? If they have 300 effective ppi? Any other tips for this large scale printing? Thanks! 

Hi,I can't open InDesign without it crashing immediately. I've had similar issues with Acrobat Reader and Illustrator to varying degrees—Illustrator seems stable now, but Acrobat still freezes when opening a PDF. InDesign doesn’t even launch; it just crashes instantly.My operating system is macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, and I’m using the latest InDesign 2025 update.I've tried everything: uninstalling and reinstalling all Adobe apps multiple times, checking fonts, and even installing previous versions. While this helped with Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat remain unusable.This has severely disrupted my workflow. Any urgent fix or guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

I'm working on a book with stories. I want to know if there is a way to add a paragraph or story to a library, a place where all text paragraphs are saved and cannot be deleted, and can be dragged onto a page.

Hi,I just noticed a bug: if pages are hidden, the selected text is also hidden. Normally, the selected text in a text frame is highlighted so you can see what you are working on. But as soon as I hide some pages, I can not see the highlight. But the text is somehow still selected, and if you write, the text will change, but the highlight is invisible. If no page is hidden, everything works fine.I also tried to restart InDesign and my Mac and remove the InDesign cash folder, but nothing worked.Do you have any suggestions?I'm on macOS Sequoia 15.3, and InDesign is on version 20.1.

I'm doing a project and it needs Pantone+ Solid Coated and I can't find it.

Hi,I'm learning InDesign to know how to publish a leaflet in A5 format with multiple pages. I expect InDesign to tell me how to setup my pages so that the print of the file will allow me to create the leaflet with three staples in the middle, but I can only find tutos dealing with A4 sheets, which is not helpful to me. Where could I find help to do what I wish, please? Thanks.

Hello,I have an InDesign document that I use for my invoices, each time I make a new one I export the last page of the document using a specific preset, which I only use for this invoice document. Given that InDesign by default keeps the latest export preset, there's a great chance that when I export a document from this or any other document the preset is not the right one, which is not a huge deal but in the long run it's a bit annoying, since each document export might need some specific settings, but this particular one always needs the same.My question is: is there a way to tell InDesign that whenever I'm exporting a page from the invoice document, the preset must be by default set to the one I indicate? Thank you,L

While generating an accessible PDF from InDesign CC 2025, the tag name does not appear as per the mapping in the paragraph styles Export Tag option, Instead only the InDesign paragraph style name is shown.I have attached a screenshot for your reference. Please advise on how to resolve this issue.

I need help with PowerPoint actually but I can not even google it because I do not know how it is called there.In InDesign, repetitive elements are in Master Pages. But in PowerPoint, Master Page is something very different. I need to remove repetitive logos so each page will not include them, when I export.

La opción exportar solo me permite exportar todo el documento o la selección, de forma que tengo que clicar Ctrl+E unas 200 veces cada vez que hago un libro. Esta tarea no se puede hacer de otro modo que manualmente? No tiene mucho sentido (La función Empaquetar no sirve porque guarda las imágenes originales, no los encuadres específicos que he elaborado en el documento y es lo que me interesa)Gracias por adelantado si alguien puede echarme una mano!

We need to set section prefix string and marker string from our code. What we have been doing so far (CS19 SDK for InDesign 2024 and CS18SDK for InDesign 2023) was simply getting the necessary parameters to the ISectionCmdData::set() from ISection getters and setting them along with our personal section prefix string and the marker string. Our code is attached below (Please note that this code has few hardcoded values to improve the readability and testability -). But since CS20 SDK for InDesign 2025, we noticed that this ISectionCmdData::set() modifies section start page number back to one (If our section starting page number is set to 10 for example, after calling ISectionCmdData::set() 10 becomes 1). Is there a way to mitigate this issue?Example:In below doc and code we have set the starting page number of the 3rd section on the 7th document page(relative to very first document page) to be 10. Since the latest update of Adobe InDesign to version 20.1. I have problems with the correct display of selected image and text boxes. When I select a box, it is not actively displayed, I have to zoom in or out first so that the box is actively displayed. If I select a box and want to move it with the arrow keys, I don't see the change, I have to zoom in or out again until the box moves. I have the same problem when I select a box with the mouse and want to move it. This bug is quite annoying if you want to work precisely and place objects at the maximum zoom level. Do others know this problem? I did not have this problem in older versions. Operating system: MacOS Sonom 14.6.1Device: Macbook Pro M3

Finally getting around to posting this - for over 6 months I've been having these two main annoying problems. 1. Overflowing swatches in type properties: My workaround so far has been to move the whole program over to change to the colour I need then move it back... now imagine that on a 30 page doc. 2. Can't reach the menu to close or move: Almost every time I open the program I can't use the menu to close or move the program as it is sitting under my Mac menu. My workaround is to mess around with getting it onto another screen for it to show up (when I'm on one screen I have to just leave it). What I've tried:Uninstall, reinstallUpdate Mac (x many)Install new versions (I think I've updated between versions 3-4 times and installed from 2024 to 2025, it happens in both, and in Beta)Changing preferencesChanging workspacesResetting workspacesResetting all preferencesTurn it off and on again Does anyone know how to help!? It's been really annoying.

Hi Everyone, I would appreciate if someone could help me with this.  Project is in arabic and english. This was done by another designer. When i export this to pdf, in a line of texts, the words in arabic after the first word goes missing.   Text are in green. I tried changing some letters to red, it showed the complete word. But changing it to all red will have the same problem.  The red and green have the same character style settings. The paragraph styles, there are greps. I was testing and removed some greps, it was a success but the format got broken. Any advice on how to go around with this without removing the greps? Below are the greps and export settings.      

Hello,I'm trying to extract the (x,y) coordinates and width and height of textboxes and images after exporting as XML or idml. When I export it as HTML I can see the style tag that contains the coordinates in pixels. Where can I find this information in the XML or extracted XML from idml? Example from html:style="position:absolute;top:28.8px;left:42.6px;"

HELP! (sorry for bad english)So i have been trying to export my indesign file to an epub reflowable, and it removes all blank spaces, line breaks and blank lines. I have looked up how to fix it and found a place that told me to use a paragraph style that had "space after" the places where i needed it.. so i did that... and it didnt work.. any other helpful tips? Im not good with indesign, i do not know ANYTHING about HTML or CSS so i feel very very lost.   

I've a SVG file (heart shape) which I have imported in my project in Adobe Indesign.I need to change the color of the heart to a specific color so the presser will add foil on that specific place.How can I change the color of this heart object?When I change the color of the object, the entire box will get the color instead of just the heart shape, see image below.I tried adding a path to the existing heart but that is not exactly matching with the shapes and looks really messy.The desired result is having a heart shape in the foil color without the bounding box.

Here’s my setup:Mac Mini M1 - 8GB (latest macOS)Adobe InDesign (latest version)Synology DS1522+ (fully updated, Exos 8TB drives, Btrfs file system)Accessing NAS via SMB 3 (shared by 5 to 6 users)The problem occurs when a Mac user opens a project directly from the NAS using InDesign. At some point, the software crashes unexpectedly, and the file remains "locked," preventing reopening until the process is manually terminated in Activity Monitor or the Mac is restarted.Windows users do not experience this issue. Additionally, NAS performance decreases as more users access it.Has anyone encountered this issue or found a solution?Thanks!

I'm part of a design team with six designers and two copy editors. We use Workfront to manage our work and store files in progress. We often share work to balance the workload and cover for each other when someone is out. This requires designers to upload their InDesign files and all linked images to Workfront before taking a day off. However, designers often forget, causing delays or requiring us to contact them on their day off.I've been experimenting with saving InDesign Cloud documents. If we all save to the cloud and link the file in Workfront, designers wouldn't need to remember to upload their InDesign files. Additionally, it would be great if our copy editors could make edits directly to the InDesign Cloud files via InCopy, saving time in the workflow by not needing the designer to make every text edit. 

I have several levels in my Contents, some with larger type. I want to make the dot leaders the same size for all levels, and smaller than the page number. In other words, I don't want the dot leader to really stand out, just be a guide for the eyes.In Nested Styles, I ask for None character style up to the tab characterI apply a Dot Leader character style up to digitsNone character style applied for digits. My dot leader will be smaller, but I've tried everything I can think of, but my page numbers end up the same size as the dot leader nested style. Also, sometimes for fun, I would like the dotleader to be a different colour, as well as unobtrusive.Love nested styles, but I wish it had more functions. Thank you  

Share for Review is not working as it usally does. I have a document for a magazine I always work from. I can still share for review. But the comments will not show up under the ewview window. The one im sharing with can use the link that I send as usual. And then send me the link back once hes done. But this means I have to go to the link online and swap between a webpage and my indesign, which is a real pain in the ass when you are working on a 100 page magazine. Any suggestions as why this might happen? Thanks!     <Title renamed by MOD>

When opening a file I received to proofread/edit, I see the message box: “This command would create a large number of page items and would severly degrade performance. Data will be placed as embedded EPS.” I don't know which command this is supposed to be or what to do about it. This already happened with several files (idml files I receive per mail). Sometimes, InDesign's performance just gets incredibly slow (I've already tried disabling preflight and reducing the display quality, to no avail), but, today, it won't even allow me to edit the file. Whatever I click or do, this same message box appears. This has been happening since I installed InDesign CS6 on a new computer (Windows10) - my third and and last installation of the software. I've seen that box on my Windows 7 notebook before, but it never affected the program's performance or hindered my work. It would be nice if someone could help me out 🙂 Thank you!
