Hi there, In the lastest version 16.0, if I try and space items, (eg. phone, email, website) margin-to-margin, I full justify the text bow and then add a flush space between items, i do not get the required spacing as usual (see screen shot) is this an error or is there anything I can do to fix?
Hi, I wrote a script with which I could open a selected image in AdobeInDesign 2023 in Photoshop, and if the folder containing the image had the same file but with the psd extension, it would open it. If not, then the image I selected was opened. This worked fine on the windows operating system, but I bought a macbook with a m1 processor on Sonoma 14.2.1. As I understand it, the macbook system works differently and now my script doesn't work at all. Please help me rewrite the script so that it works correctly, I really need it for work. PleaseHere is the code#target indesign var doc = app.activeDocument; var selection = app.selection[0]; if (selection && selection.constructor.name === "Rectangle" && selection.graphics.length > 0) { var graphic = selection.graphics[0]; if (graphic.itemLink) { var filePath = graphic.itemLink.filePath; var fileFolder = new Folder(filePath).parent; var baseFileName = filePath.substr(0, filePath.lastIndexO
Every ID file I open always fills the entire screen. This was never the case in CS3, which tended to open each file in the state/size that it was last saved in. How can I prevent every file from filling the screen every time I open it? Thank you.
Hi,I'm relatively new to Indesign. I just noticed that most of my paragraph breaks were converted to column breaks when I imported a Word doc. Why and does it matter for epub or pdf exports? Windows 11. Desktop PC. Mechanical keyboard (daskeyboard). I don't use the numerical pad to enter/break. Formatting marks are correct in Word.
Hello everyone! I'm trying to export a design into a PDF file, and everytime I do it, InDesign exports a previous design version, not the latest one. I tried closing and opening the file several times, and also changing the file name, but none of these options work. The strange thing is that I actually see the latest design version in the editable file, but it goes back to a previous one in the exported file. Any idea in how to fix this?
I'v installed InDesign thru the creative cloud on my new laptop. When I open InDesign it's just constantly loading, the mouse has the blue loading symbol flickering next to it. I've uninstalled and installed but the problem is still there <Title renamed by MOD>
Is it possible: the same paragraph style, can automatically determine the position of the paragraph in the Frame, and then use a different paragraph before and after the spacing. For example, in the same paragraph style T2.If T2 is in the middle of the page, I want the paragraph margins to be 6mm.If T2 is in the middle of the page, I want the paragraph margin to be 0 and the paragraph margin to be 6mm. Also, if T2 is preceded by T1, I want T2's paragraph margins to be 0, which is kind of like “next style”, But there's a difference. The hold option doesn't always work well sometimes, we have the title just in that spot and the content can't be adjusted.A more flexible approach is needed. What's the best way to do it?Or, can Adobe improve it?Thank you~
Hello, I have been facing issues with the exported image in InDesign while making the Epub. The image needs to start from a new page. The image needs to flow with the content. I have used paragraph style (inline image) and ticked the split document. But, when I view my file in Kindle Previewer (image attached) for the first time (opening) my document is coming correct. But when I close it, reopen it again. The image is stretched taking up the whole space. I have browsed a lot of youtube videos but it is not working. Kindly help me lot. <Title renamed by MOD>
I am working on several similar InDesign files, each in 7 languages. The same content is in each one, including a couple hyperlinks. All of the Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian files output correct Link tags, with the Link and Link-OBJR. The Arabic and Chinese do not output with any Link tags, only Link-OBJRs. I cannot even create a Link tag. It creates a P tag instead. I've tried on a Mac and Windows. Like I said, the Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian files are OK. They output correctly but I can create a Link tag in them, even though I don't need to. I cannot figure out why the other files won't allow me to create a Link tag. It creates it and changes into a P tag in Acrobat. I have tried recreating the links in InDesign. I have tried removing and readding them in the PDF. I have tried looking for unmarked links. Nothing is working.
Hi,I'm trying to create an Event Listener to use in Adobe InDesign, to alert me if the document contains RGB images. I tried this, but this is not working. Can you please correct the code for me. Also I want the same listener for Illustrator as well.//DESCRIPTION: Event Listener to check if the document contains any RGB images #targetengine "save" app.addEventListener("beforeSave", function () { var doc = app.documents[0]; for (var i = 0; i < doc.allGraphics.length; i++) { try { var img = doc.allGraphics[i]; // Only check raster images (e.g., JPEG, PNG, TIFF) if (img.constructor.name === "Image") { if (img.imageColorSpace === ColorSpace.RGB) { alert("Document contains RGB image(s). Please convert them to CMYK!"); break; } } } catch (e) { // Handle errors silently } } });
Hi, i'm trying to use indesign beta to create pdf to indd format, but unfortunately the original pdf was created on mac and my indesign on pc doesn't open it. Is there any chance to solve this? Thanks! <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi, I'm starting a new document, and for some reason every time I go to a different window other than inDesign, when I return to the InDesign window, my cursor has changed to the pencil symbol, with a circle with a slash through the middle. I can't edit or change anything in the document, or change the cursor back. Every time I restart, I get the regular pointer and edit options back, but the second I click on anything or switch windows, it goes back to the error pencil. I've restarted my computer three times, nothing is changing. This hasn't happened before, and I had been using the program all morning without issue. Please tell me what is happening and how I can fix this, I'm in a class and can't follow along with the instructor.
When using any Hebrew font in InDesign, the diacritics (nikuds) are displayed in their correct location. This location is set within the fonts by using OpenType features such as ccmp (for glyph substitution) and mark (for glyph positioning). InDesign recognizes and applies these features. The resulting text looks like that:I put two guides to the right to indicate the end of text. When this font is used as part of a Composite font in InDesign, the result is quite different. It seems like the ccmp feature is honored but the mark feature is not. (The first [last for non-Israelis] character on the first line is controlled with a ccmp feature to combine two characters.)Here is how the composite font looks:Notice how the diacritics shift and the length of the text increases. Some of this fluctuation can be mitigated by Diacritics Position feature in InDesign however this feature only works on a paragraph level and applies the correction to ALL

Hello, After updating the 'Test Frame Options - Gutter' in InDesign and saving the changes, InCopy fails to receive the update automatically. Additionally, InCopy does not provide a notification for us to manually synchronize the changes. We have checked the InDesign and InCopy version is align and updated. How can this issue occur, and what steps can we take to resolve it? Many Thanks <Title renamed by MOD>
All of a sudden, my Adobe InDesign hangs on App startup. I had been running InDesign fine on my Mac M2 Max Studio for months now, and today, it decided that it's had enough. I am on Mac OS Sonoma 14.5 (latest version). I've tried the following today, but after launching InDesign, It repeatedly hangs at "starting up panels." -- Removed the App preferences by Cmnd-Opt-Control-Shift launching -- Deleted existing InDesign app using the CC app -- Ran Cocktail 17.5 to run all the latest clean cache scripts -- Reinstalled the latest version of InDesign (19.5.0.84) from the CC App Still no joy. I am working on a document which requires translating from English to Japanese. Can I do this in InDesign to include the Japanese characters. If so , how?
Hello there!I'm working on a document that needs to be accessible, and we have a long table that flows across multiple pages. On other shorter tables (2 pages), I just include a simple row at the end of the first part of the table that says "Continues on the next page" and use a hyperlink destination to link it, nothing too complex. But on this longer table, I was wondering if I could use a footer instead (so it will automatically place this extra row at the end of each page), and have it hyperlink automatically to the next page where the table continues? Is that somehow possible? I know how to set the table footer, I'm just curious about the automatic/dynamic hyperlink part.Thank you in advance!
Hi, I want to develop a website that uses Adobe Indesign to sync data in real time. I don't know where I should begin. What should I study? How do I connect my website to Adobe InDesign? please advise me
I am trying to make a script to list all the glyphs by their names or IDs and their counts in a document. The glyphs should be listed by their names or IDs (not by Unicode) as each Unicode character has several alternate shapes and I want to get result for each and every alternate shape. I have tried but in vain. Here is my script that I am working on. // Get the active document var doc = app.activeDocument; // Define an object to store the glyph name counts var glyphCounts = {}; // Define the output file path var outputFile = File("~/Desktop/GlyphCount.txt"); outputFile.open("w"); // Write the initial line to the file outputFile.writeln("Glyph Counts for the font: Arabic Font 1"); // Function to process characters and count glyphs function countGlyphs(character) { try { // Check if the character has glyphs if (character.hasOwnProperty('glyphs') && character.glyphs.length > 0) { var glyph = character.glyphs[0]; // Get the first glyph
Hey,I changed in the document setup the size of the document a little. When I now export the file, the exported document size does not change. What can I do? <Title renamed by MOD>
Oi, pessoal!
Hello! I am trying to create a 20 page booklet with over 1,000 addresses to merge onto the back. Each booklet needs to be a separate record. When I go to merge, it tells me there's overset text and only shows me one record. How do I fix this issue? Thank you! <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello everyone I am an IT tech and I changed one of the students Indesign to Spanish by going into the file and chaning the language on the Workspaces and Shortcuts folder. A while later after the student was working he is unable to click on anything in InDesign but can click fine on any other program. Students are on MACs. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. <Title renamed by MOD>
Good morning, I recently switched to macOS with a MacBook M3 Pro, and I'm experiencing terrible performance when certain fonts are used in my documents, like this one: https://www.dafont.com/hey-october.font. I understand it's not a simple font and is likely resource-intensive, but I never had any issues on my less powerful Windows PC. So, I'm wondering what my options are. Is there a setting I can change in InDesign to fix the issue? (I've tried the most common solutions.) Or is there a tool that could make the font less heavy? I installed the trial version of Fontalb, which has an option to simplify or clean the font, but it hasn't helped. Unfortunately, I can't change the font because it's used throughout the entire document. Thank you very much for your help. <Title renamed by MOD>
