InDesign

Hey all, i am pretty new to using adobe products and would like to learn more.  I am having trouble with interactive pdf's, i would like to have a milti page document with buttons that play a transtion animation and sound effect to the next page.  so far i have been able to get the button work in its basic way of simpy moving to my desired page, however neith the transition animation or sound effect plays.  im using a mp3 file for the sound and if go into the preview winodw the sound plays with the button but does not transtion to the page. when exporting to interactive pds nothing works, unless i get rid of the sound effect but still no transition animation. aplogies for sloppy explination,  many thanks     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi, If anyone can help I would be very thankful. I have create an interactive image I would like to share online. It only uses one invisible hyperlink space, when saving as an interactive PDF the link works correctly, when I try to publish online the link fails to appear / work. Can anyone offer any advise? Many thanks, Kim  

I have installed indesgin 19.5v and installed plugin Translator PRO Google after installing m opening new doc. options are not showing and plugin window options are also not showing so please guide me any one to overcome this problem. 

I'm still on 19.3 - can anyone confirm if the same info is available through scripting in 19.5?  

Hi AllQuestion: Let's say you had a business card imposition you want to set up but your address may change often, how do you set up template so you can enter info only once in the neccessary field quickly without having to correct each one separately.Thanks to whoever can help me. Can't seem to find a video or tutorial that shows this.

I've restarted my computer and tried to start a new document from scratch but keep getting the same issue. I notice the apps are loading or frozen in the creative cloud so wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I'm working on a print project. The image is CMYK and all the colors in InDesign are CMYK. So to is the Transparancy Blend Space.   I have an object (text made into outlines), with the 'difference' effect applied to it. It looks great in InDesign, but when I make a PDF using the Press Quality preset, the effect disappears leaving what looks like a transparancy. I've done a screengrab of the PDF output options.   How do I make a PDF and keep the effect?     <Title renamed by moderator>

I am working on a catalog project (I do roughly 6 a year). I basically use the old catalog, and update the links and text in the document. My previous file was 28 pages, 127 links and 32.3 MB in size. I used this file, updated links to new images, no settings changed. The new file is 20 pages, 98 links, but 288.9 MB. I have ABSOLUTELY NO idea what has increased the file size so much. I have done every thing exactly the same as my previous catalogs. Possibly related: When saving JPEGS in photoshop, randomly files will be 4+MB, when other comparable files are all under 500KB.

Any suggestions on how to set up a 12 page tabloid using 5 columns on pages 1 and 4 and then 6 columns on the rest of the pages? New to InDesign.

So after getting zero help from Adobe Support over the last two days, myself and the IT folk I work with were able to solve my issue of files saved on remote network drives taking WAY too long to load in InDesign. After encountering long load times in InDesign bring up the Windows Event Viewer and check for errors. If Error is: "Windows API call WaitForMultipleObjects returned error code: 575. Windows system error message is: {Application Error} The application was unable to start correctly (0x%lx). Click OK to close the application. Reported at line: 3714." I made a file for my students to work on back in 2019 to learn about styles and automating the TOC. The Update Table of Contents button works great when they are using that file it updates the pages automatically. When student make their own files using 2024 software the Update Table of Contents no longer works. I have to go in each time and reselect the style make for TOC, the page number style. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I can make video if you would like.     UPDATE: I needed to choose Save Style in the Table of Contents box before clicking on the OK button, otherwise the styling of the TOC would not save, resulting in when I clicked on the update table of contents it would resort to [No Paragraph Style]. When I made my 2019 template I did not do this extra step. So now when I chose the styling for my tables of contents I will always Save Style first, then click on the OK button. It is working like a champ now.

InDesign 19.5 crashes on opening. Went through the FAQs in Adobe to no avail.Unistalled the program and reinstalled with the same problem.Restarted MacBook Pro (Ventura 13.2) in safe mode, and opened the program from Creative Cloud and worked OK.Restarted out of safe mode – old problem back.Interesting note: I resisted InDesign 2024 and used 2023 – until I had the same problem, which is when I started using 2024.

When we use soft returns/line breaks in InDesign and export the document as a PDF, will accesibility readers read those soft returns, either as a character or a hard break?

Is InDesign cloud documents still in beta? This page indicates that it is still a beta feature, but I'm not sure if that's correct. I'm not running a beta version of InDesign and am able to save cloud documents, but I don't want to use it in "real work" if it is still a beta feature.

Especially in academic publications, sometimes the submission system requires uploading of indd file for editors to put in accessibility informations.And usually it is for pictorial submissions that for clearity, when creating the file, high quality photo are used. And usually for submission platforms, there's a filesize limit usually not that big. The current method people use requires unembedding all images, export and resize picture one by one and then re-embedding all the pictures, where the author will need to calculate based on the picture size and then use 300/450/600 DPI to calculate how big each picture needs to be. There should be an option just like PDF option, called "optimize project for shareing", to batch set all images larger than 300/450/600 DPI (selectable option according to desired quality) to downsample to 300/450/600 DPI and save the project as a new indd file. Seems the problem has existed since years ago and people came up with many tedious way to work

HiI am new to epub thing. I have a sample document. I need an epub. The epub will be viewed on PC, Tablet, mobile phone. I tried making an epub from Indesign (reflowable and fixed) and it has gone haywire. I am reading it in PC using Aquile reader.As I am new to epub, I dont know what am I doing wrong. I have attached idml, PDF, and both epubs. Actual document is much more complex with lots of images and headings, sub-headings. Please suggestion where and how to start.Thanks

I'm having the worst time with InDesign and the Share for Review feature. I've had it crash mutiple times while tryig to update the link - and it won't update the existing link. So I have to resave the InDesign file and create a new Share for Review link. All this is causing my team to be confused with the lastest link to use.  Now, none of the comments are being displayed. I'm just met with "We can’t load comments right now." Broswer doesn't seem to matter (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). And yes, I have cleared my cache. InDesign is update to date (version 19.1).  Any thoughts - better, solutions, to this? 

Hi community. I've been trying to export an Indesign file into a PDF but everytime, some text happens to turn into outlined text. I really need to keep it as live text so I can select it later when opening the file on Adobe Reader. Do any of you guys know the right preset to do this or has any tip?
