Hello everyone! The Math Expression feature in InDesign could be of some help writting math equations in InDesign, but I haven't found a way to change its default RGB color to 100% black in CMYK mode.I have tried editing the Math expression and changing themathcolor="#000000" to another color, but the color is converted to RGB.I tried changing the Fill Color form the Typeface Properties in Math Expression panel, but still nothing. No matter what color or method I try to use, when I export it to pdf, it converts it to RGB. I want to export the whole book to CMYK, with only black/grayscale colors.I don't want to use the Preflight option in Acrobat to convert all colors to Black/Grayscale. If the Math Expressions tool does not support CMYk colors, then, I believe, it is useless!! Any help, would be appreciated! Thanks!Nikos
Hello I saw this in an unanswered forum discussion from 2016-2018 but it seems closed for posts .I need URGENT help please!worked all day yesterday with clients on a book design. noticed the undo buttons weren't working but with them here i couldnt take time to figure it out, i thought it was just a keyboard shortcut problem. When time to save comes along i cannot save, at all.So i try to package the file in order to make a copy. IN DESIGN CRASHED AND I LOST EVERYHTING!!!!!!My clients are due back this morning to continue but the file opens with none of the work we did yesterday. I was hitting control s throughout the day but no error message came up and so i thought all was ok.Please please please, someone. Is there any hidden place indesign could have saved my work yesterday or some sort of recovery file?I am really very close to tears! Its a 300 page book and i just cannot imagine having to do all of this again...
Hi, please check attached fotos , is appening when selecting tex ot boxes. Thanks
Can this be achieved with a script? If you can determine that the key object has been selected, anything becomes possible. This is a practical feature. In our work, we often adjust the size of one image, and then other images need to match it.
Hello,we are experiencing constant freezes while using Indesign 20.4 or 20.5 on multiple devices.Indesign itself and files can be opened without any problems but after 5-10 Minutes the application freezes. There is no Crash-Report or something like that it's just not responding. If this happens we can either wait 10 minutes or close the application via Task-Manager. The issues first appeared in June and as a workaround we started to reinstall Indesign 20.0 this version works fine.We discovered that the Problem is caused by our Proxy Settings. We run our Proxy as an explicit Proxy with required authentification. The settings are distributed to our users via GPO which will store the Proxy pac script in the Internet Settings. It seems like InDesign ignores this settings in the versions 20.4 and above. We tried to set our Proxy using "Netsh winhttp set Proxy" - in this case the application works fine. As soon as we reset the winhttp proxy the issue reappears. Is there a way to con

Hello!I have several text frames in multiple documents that need to be converted to an interactive text field using the contents of the text frame. The field type is indicated by the prefix of the text frame contents.txt = textchk = checkboxrad = radio buttonslis = list boxcom = combo boxsig = signatureCould someone please point me in the right direction for creating a javascript to use in InDesign? It's been quite a while since I've needed to do any scripting in InDesign. Please and thank you in advance.
The hide spread notification is not skipping on my screen and its stuck although restarting pc and reinstalling the app still no fix. HELP ITS ANNOYING!!!!
My InDesign epub is exporting with spaces between some paras throughout the document that are not in the InDesign document. In the para style, there is no space before or after. If it helps pinpoint the problem, when I export the document with Multi Level TOC style the spaces appear between different paragraphs compared to if I export the then with Navigation TOC set to default. I have exhausted every single option available via Google search, YouTube and hiring a professional graphic designer to try to fix it.
Hello sir,How can I set a default value for <sp-picker> in UXP ? It renders and works fine, but I need the picker to show a pre-selected value on load.
Hello,I have A4 papers and I want to create my own A5 saddle-stitched notebooks. I use InDesign 2024 on windows.I'm trying to learn export settings for printing. This is the first time I use them. So I created a page to understand its basics. I followed a tutorial however I cannot make the spreads work as they are greyed out.I tried both checking and not unchecking the facing pages options on document setup.I tried to choose postscript, adobe pdf and all the other options on print booklet > print settings > GeneralI tried to both Adobe PDF and Device Independent on PPDI don't quite understand what is the issue here. Could you please help me?
Images display weirdly on one Mac device whereas the exact same file displays normally on a different Mac device. I've noticed this behavior on multiple files. I've also noted that when I try to export the file into a PDF, I get the following error: Which roughly translates to "This document contains links with Files/URLs, that cannot be accessed."However, when I go to the link overview, everything seems fine and I'm able to open the individual links in their respective location in finder. On the bottom of inDesign it also says "No errors". Both devices that I tested on are exactly the same model and have the same OS & inDesign version installed. inDesign 2025 v20.5MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1Mac Studio 2022, Apple M1 Max Things I've tried:- Changing Display performance- Changing inDesign Version- Opening inDesign in Rosetta- Switching between GPU / CPU rendering- Reinstalling inDesign- Saving the file locally and opening it instead of opening it direct
I've been struggling with a problem for some while now. I bought a new b/w laser printer (Brother DCP-L2530DW) and every time I print from an Adobe application (ID, AI, Acrobat....) all the type gets printed very fuzzy (see attached image). So far, neither Brother’s nor Adobe’s support could help me resolve this issue. Maybe anyone had the same problem before?macOS 10.12.6CC 2019
Hello!I hope this message finds you well. I apologize if this request feels a bit out of the blue. I work as an office assistant and frequently use Microsoft Publisher for various tasks such as drafting sympathy and prayer letters, newsletters, bulletins, thank-you notes—you name it, I probably do it with Publisher. However, Microsoft has announced that Publisher will be ‘retired’ (discontinued) in October 2026; So I need to begin transitioning to a new program, which involves both learning a new platform and transferring my files. That's where I could really use some guidance. I want to start learning Adobe InDesign, but I have no prior experience with Adobe products. Fortunately, my job provides a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. My questions are:-Does this subscription include all Adobe programs, or are additional charges required for specific applications?-Where should I start with Adobe in general? I’ve already signed into the Adobe website and found InDesign. It states th
When using Novel Sans Arabic from Adobe fonts in InDesign ME 18.5.4, the characters "lam-alif-hamza above" appear with the hamza sign incorrectly below instead of above. The hamza appears correctly in other Arabic fonts, e.g. Myriad Pro Arabic.
We have come across a new issue when working with PDF's generated from Canva. When we try to place these PDF's in InDesign (File>Place) we get the following error message "Failed to open the PDF file". When we try and place the file using a custom script, we then get the error message "xxx.pdf doesn't contain a "Media" crop type. Note, we have tried importing using all the different crop types, e.g. Crop, Art, Trim, Bleed, Media, ally Layers Bouding Box and Visible Layers Bounding Box, however none of them work. The only option we have found that somewhat works is to open the PDF's in Illustrator then save as a PDF, then place into InDesign. However, as we often get PDF's with anywhere from 8 to 200 pages, this is not a viable solution. We are a printing company, and we are receiving more and more PDF's generated from Canva. We desperately need a solution to this problem as the current situation is unworkable for us. <Title renamed b
Hello, everyone. Is there a way to save for the web directly from InDesign? (Like there is in Illustrator)A plugin, a script...Thanks,Diogo
I always thought that "Package for print" only copied links that are used in the documents, but having done it a couple of times with my current book, I find that many unused illustrations are being copied. How can I get rid of unused links. When looking at the links folder, there is no way to determine which one are used in the document and which ones are obsolete, so manually deleting them is not a realistic option. Anything I can try?
I have an .indb file with multiple chapters, each of which ends on a verso (even number) and begins on a recto (odd number). Can't see to find a way to generate a pdf where the last page of one chapter sits opposite the first page of the next chapter on a single spread. Doable?? Maybe I've only done this before where the new chapter starts on a verso. (Pagination is fine, btw.)
I make technical documentation in InDesign, and very often I need to make a separate copy of an existing book to use as a template for a new project. The fact that this is very difficult makes InDesign a joke of a software. Let's be specific:I can use "Package for print". That makes a copy of the book, documents, links, and fonts, and seemingly does what I need. Except that the cross-references still point to the original documents. So I would need to update every cross-reference manually. And as far as I can tell, there is no way to automate this using a script. Then I encountered a solution that if InDesign can not access linked content, it will look around the book file and automatically relink to it. Great, that is exactly what I need. Except I need to make the original "disappear" to use this. So if I copy a template from a folder I only have read access to (so I can't change the path to the original), but need to make a copy on the same network drive (so I can't just disconnect i
Hi. Using ID 20.5 under Win11.Maybe I'm not seeing something that's directly in front of me. I need to use ID to output existing documentation as a set of HTML pages. (So I'm clear, we're not dealing with fancy stylistic high-concept web page development, here. It's a lot of text and a few graphics.). In those HTML pages, I need to embed bookmarks at specific places. Typically, a named bookmark in HTML looks like:<p id="fubar-function">Let's talk about the Fubar Function.</p> I'm able to create both a named text anchor and a named hyperlink destination in the ID source doc, but they don't seem to show up in the HTML output. For example, when I mark the very first word in some Lorum Ipsum text as both (that is, as both a bookmark and a hyperlink destination, just to be sure I have the bases covered), output that text as HTML5, and then display that text in an HTML editor, I see the first word -- the word I have marked -- of the Lorum Ipsum as: <p class="_00-x-60
I'm working on a document composed entirely of enumerated sections, paragraphs, and subparagraphs, and many cross-references (100+, I'm sure). The cross-references have a character style applied to them. I then mapped styles to tags, which caused all the cross-references to break and no longer have a destination. At that moment, I didn't make this association, so I just relinked the cross-references manually. I went on to make some further adjustments to the layout, adding a few subparagraphs and converting some that were mistakenly styled as paragraphs to subparagraphs. After autotagging, all the cross-references again lost their destinations. ALL of them (not just the ones from new paragraphs or re-styled paragraphs). Does anyone know why this is happening, or how to prevent it?
I've really tried everything, guys. Can I speak to someone that can solve this issue? This seems to be an issue that doesn't have a scripted solution. I need help.
I'm lost again, or perhaps I've forgotten.Like this:var enObjWidth = app.documents[0].objectStyleGroups.itemByName(AA).itemByName(a1).transformAttributeOptions.transformAttrWidth;
