On the run I have to ftp a lot of my pictures directly from the camera. Is there a way of keeping track of this when files are later on imported in Lightroom? Is there some kind of "flag" attached to the ftp-transferred files that Lightroom reads and can show me - or eg. be included in a search? Regards,Bmj
After installing the latest release of Lightroom Classic 7.4 I'm unable to unmark my favorite folders. In other words, folders that were marked as favorites before the latest release can no longer be unmarked. I can, however, select a folder that was not a favorite before release 7.4 and mark it and also unmark it as a favorite. I use this feature a fair amount so I'm pretty sure this issue started after the latest release but I cannot be sure. Thoughts? Seems like one of those pesky software bugs to me. I'm an experienced user so I do not think this is some type of user error. The catalog is my master catalog and has about 600,000 images. I did not have any favorites marked in my sub catalogs before the release. They work fine but, again, the problem seems limited to the folders that were marked as favorites before the release.[Update: All of the reports here except one can be explained by the confusing design of LR's "favorite groups".&
Sometimes the (great) "select subject" tool does not get the subject quite right, and I will need to refine the subject selection with other masking tools (brush, color range, etc). I will give a name to this refined subject mask, such as "my custom subject". I wish I could subsequently refer to that mask, when doing substractions or intersections with other masking tools (as if that mask was a variable). Here is an example scenario that I am going through ffrequently: 1/ I use select subject 2/ I refine the selection, and name it "my custom subject" 3/ I do the treatment I want on "my subject" (usually I increase the texture a bit). 4/ I want to correct hot-spots created by my flash on objects brighter then the subject: I will create a radial mask, with the intention to reduce highlights, but I don't want highlights reduced on my subject. Feature request: I wish I could substract "my custom subject" from the radial mask, the same way as I can click "substract" and then pi
Built a new computer running Windows 11 Pro with Intel Ultra 9 285k chip 64GB ram and Nvidia RTX5070Ti 16GB; 2TB C drive, 2TB D drive. I am getting repeated screen freezes in LRC and PS beta and have to reboot to restore. Graphics Card and all software is up to date. I disabled the Windows compatability group as suggested. Still having issues. If you have had these issues and resolved them, I need some suggestions please.
With the split between XMP and ACR sidcar files in Lightroom 15, it creates an extreme mess for people that have to rename files after the fact and don't use catalogs. I prefer to just keep my photos in their own directories, then just move them to a NAS for storage since I won't need them at all anytime soon, so there is no need to use the lightroom catalog. Since I don't use AI in every photo, the few that I do now have an extra sidecar file. When I batch rename all the XMP and RAW files after i'm done editing, now the issue is the few ACR files that are made, and figuring out where do they actually belong since I can't batch rename and include them (I use an external batch rename program to just drag and drop all the files and have it auto number and rename all the files). So now I have to copy the photos with ACR files in a separate directory, batch rename everything and then manually go through the thumbnails to see which photo matches up and the new name I should re
Everytime I try and use a mask lightroom classic is crashing on my MacBook M4 Pro. Is anyone else having this problem?
Hi. I updated my Mac OS to Tahoe 26.1 and now I can't get Lightroom Classic v15.0 to open my catalog. My catalog is on a connected external drive. In Catalog Settings I choose the location of my catalog and Lightroom shows no photos at all. It displays no folders at all. It displays no Collections. How do I get LR to open my catalog? I've read how to do it here but nothing works. I don't get an error message saying LR can't find my catalog. Even though my external hard drive with the catalog is connected to my Mac, in the Catalog Settings under "Backups" it shows 'Path (* Offline)...see below. Does anyone know what I can do about this?Thank you for any help with this.-Firislander
So grateful for any help there is. I'm a photographer and rely on lightroom to do all my editing but in the last 48 hours the platform has become so slow its unworkable. Each time I try to make a change to an image a spinning rainbow appears. My latop does seem to be running the fan alot (but not sure if I am only just noticing this now because of the other isse) I have a MacBook Pro. I use Lightroom Classic. I have about 40% storage left. Trouble shooting wise I have updated software on laptop, made sure I have the latest version of LRC. I have set up a new catalogue for the images I am editing (where before I had alot of images in the catalgoue 30K 😬), optimised the catalogue, I have the graphics processor set to custom (I have use GPU to export is ticked )(GPU to preview generation is off). Camera raw cache is set to 50GB. Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Many thanks Jayne
In Lightroom Classic (Release 15.0) on Mac I want to apply a preset with DeNoise and a Subject Mask (inverted) during Auto Import. My goal is to create a workflow, where I can Auto Import RAW files, and have DeNoise applied during import, such that the image is ready for further editing, when I turn to the computer. The preset works fine, when I apply it to an already imported image.I have selected the preset in "Auto Ingest Setting | Development Setting"I can see that the auto imported images has an invalid mask added, although Lightroom can do Subject detection on itIf I apply a "simple" preset, like a a black & white preset it work fineIt seems like a bug to me
Howdy, since some time I notice that the view on the second monitor does not open when lightroom classic is started (on Windows 11 Home with latest updates). In the configuration the correct monitor is selected and does not change across sessions.I always have to press F11 to show up the second screen.Earlier LR remembered that the second screen was open and reopened upon start. Is this a bug or a feature now?
I have moved to a new Mac running Sonoma 14.1.1 and I have noticed a problem I didn't have on my older Mac. My LR catalog is on the internal SSD and the image files are on a new external SSD. In the past I would be in LR, go to "delete rejected photos", and then choose "delete from disk" and the images would go to the trash. Now I get a LR message that it "cannot delete files from a drive that doesn‘t support trash". It then offers "completely delete images". I can remove/delete from disk LR images that are on the internal drive fine but I keep getting the error message for files on the external drive. The external drive has APFS formatting and LR has access to my internal and removable drives so I'm not sure why this problem is occurring.
Since version 14.4, when a user enables the “Use Smart Previews instead of Originals for image editing” option, and are editing an image where both the originals and Smart Previews are available, they may be shown the following message when they edit an image: You have enabled "Use Smart Previews instead of Originals for image editing" in the preferences. When using the latest Al features, it is highly recommended that you always work on Originals. For best results disable this preference. A better implementation for this is to automatically load the originals when needed, rather than telling the user to disable “Use Smart Previews instead of Originals”. For instance, if the user attempts to use an AI tool that works better with the originals, and the originals are available, Lightroom should automatically load the original and use that. The user should only be warned if the originals are not available, telling them that the tool might not work as well on a Smart Preview.
Dear friends, when I use the blur tool in LRC everything works fine UNTIL I modify the focus range sliders. As soon as I shift the focus range the application freezes on the "Analysing" message, and I need to kill the taks in the taks manager. I run the latest Win 11 update, a AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor, 64 GB Ram and an 8GB RTX 2080 Super Graphics adapter. Any ideas? Thank you,Jerry
Posted my experience, including system detail, etc. a week ago, and received numerous recommendations, none worked. In working through one of the recommendations I came up with a screen showing that I have been "syncing with the Cloud," a surprise to me since I had no idea that I was doing so. Could this be the problem? Attached is a screen shot showing my syncing status which seems to indicate that I have a group of files waiting to be synced. My thought is to delete my synced files, particularly those waiting to be synced. Any help will be appreciated.

The state of the toggle switch for the Distraction Removal panel is not returned by photo:getDevelopSettings(), though it is accessible via LrDevelopController.getValue "EnableDistractionRemoval". The toggles for all the other Develop panels are accessible via both photo:getDevelopSettings() and LrDevelopController. This prevents my Copy Settings plugin from correctly copying the settings for Reflections and People and my Any Filter plugin from correctly searching for that toggle value. Using LrDevelopController.getValue() is not a viable workaround, since it requires opening each photo in Develop to access its value (several orders of magnitude slower). To reproduce in LR 14.4 / Mac OS: 1. Save the attached script in the LR Scripts folder, changing its extension to ".lua", and restart LR. 2. Open an image in Develop and ensure the Distraction Removal Panel toggle is on. 3. Run the script and observe this incorrect output: The firs
I can't get LRC to import my new files while leaving them in their current location. For several years I have been using Photo Mechanic to offload the files from my camera's SD card, rename them, and place them in the proper location on my hard drive while also creating a backup folder as a safety measure. I then select all the files and drag and drop them onto LRC, which opens the import window and creates thumb nails of the files to be imported. I then add keywords and select "import". Normally, the files load into LRC in the same location that Photo Mechanic placed them. Today that is not happening. Looking at the import dialogue screen, the source location is correct but LRC is changing the destination location of the files by adding a subfolder named "2025" to the destination location and a second subfolder inside of that named "2025-10-29" (the date the photos were taken). It then creates new copies of the photos and places them inside this "2025-10-29" folder whi
In my current image download folder, I see a bunch of acr files, which still bear their original import file naming, along with my NEF files and their corresponding xmp files. Most are small- 9-26k, but some are quite large, several MB in size. As I understand it, the acr files have something to do with masking, but what I want to know is when I renamed my NEF files, and the corresponding XMP files got renamed, should the acr files have gotten renamed as well? I do not see any acr files that have been renamed to match the NEF/xmp files. If I still have those acr files in the folder, but they still have the original file import names, does that mean that when I deleted some raw files in Lightroom, it did not remove these acr files, and they are now safe to discard now? I just updated my Adobe Lightroom Classic. It keeps crashing. The error message tells me that I need to update my "graphics card driver".I click on fix but either nothing happens or it takes me to a page where nothing makes sense. I have ZERO clue as to what to do. I click on the link provided in the error message, and it takes me to some Intel page.Intel® Driver & Support AssistantOn that page, there are instructions on how to download a driver assistant. However, some warnings say that..." this download could hurt my computer" JEEZ!!!! I really need some help. I have no freaking clue as to what to do. I need my software to work because that's how I make my living. The card information I can find in my computer is Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630How in the world do I find this driver or update and how do I install it and make it work?!?!?I'm using windows 11 home BTW Photoshop and all my other programs work . Only LRC! Update-I updated the drivers pro
This would allow people to start filenames with date-time so alphabetical order is same as capture time order, and would create unique filenames (without yet another field) and properly order bursts.... Presently, exif metadata includes subsecond field, but Lr filenaming template stops at full seconds. So for unique filenames, one would have to tack on some kind of sequence number or something as well. So, as things stand, one can have: YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS_{seq-num}_{photog/camera...} but not (as I would prefer): YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS-MS_{photog/camera...} A side benefit is that filename indicates subseconds between shots in a burst, which is otherwise unavailable in Lightroom without a plugin. Although, I could argue for displaying that too in formatted metadata display, even if only upon mouse-over. --------------- I would like to use Lightroom import dialog box for importing, instead of the plugin I use now, but it stops just shy of what I need/want still. - this is one of the things.
