Lightroom Classic

I haven't used LRC for several months but updated through those months.  I just returned to LRC, making some imports to catch up.  I understand the catalog is larger now after the last few months of updates but I had no idea it would be 135mB and take a while to load (I can't get high speed internet where I live just yet). That said, however, I wonder if there is a way to reduce the size by eliminating some of the folders in my catalog. This is the catalog as in LRC: label cat.jpgThis is the catalog in OneDrive where it is stored: cat2.jpgThe catalog looks quite different: cat3.jpg.  Is this correct? Thanks for your time!Bruce   

Hey, I am having trouble with getting lightroom to open. When ever I try to open a catelog all I end up with is a black rectangle with the name of one of my catelogs (always the same one not matter what catelog I try to open). The same catelog still works on a different device (connect via onedrive). Lightroom is also running in task manager. Has anybody had a similar issue to this and if so what are some possible solutions? Thanks in advance

I have a brand new HPZG9 desktop. How is it? Recommended that I transfer about 50,000 photos into catalogs  do I use one catalog or many. Please direct me to the information for setting up a new computer.Patricia deAlteris

Bonjour,Depuis peu j'ai un gros problème d'affichage de mes photos dans le module impression : au début plus rien dans la fenêtre d'aperçu et maintenant, bien plus génant,  une image tronquée (juste le haut est affiché) dans la fenête principale (voir saisie d'écran jointe).J'ai fait une mise à jour du logiciel et même une nouvelle installation mais cela ne résout pas le problème.Une idée pour corriger ce bug ?Merci.

For the first few weeks, opening an image from Lightroom into new DxO PhotoLab 8 by going to Plug-in Extras and choosing Transfer to DxO PhotoLab worked perfectly. Now, fo unknown reason, the only way I can get this to work is to close down PhotoLab and go back to Lightroom and again choose to tansfer the selected image, starts up PhotoLab 8 and successfully opens the image. Of course, I would rather it would just transfer the image to PhotoLab while the program is ready and opened.Is it a glich I should just live with? Any ideas on this or how to correct or fix? TIA, Ken

While I am generally satisfied with Adobe's customer support, my experience with Blurb has been quite disappointing. Their response times are significantly delayed, often taking days to reply to emails. This level of service is unacceptable, particularly when dealing with time-sensitive tasks such as reordering a book. Although Blurb is a separate entity, Adobe heavily promotes their services, and as such, I believe Adobe has a responsibility to ensure that Blurb maintains a high standard of customer support. It is surprising that Adobe continues to endorse a partner with such inadequate service, especially when alternatives with more reliable support are available.

I love the F12 single-button command to activate taking a photo. Now I want a key command to activate tethered capturing. Does it exist? Have I just not found it in my searching? Please reply. If it doesn't, consider this suggestion for future updates. Everyone currently must use a mouse/stylus to navigate via File>Tethered Capture>Start Tethered Capture. To have an option + Command/Control ___ something-or-other shortcut would be amazing; a great time saver. I want it for just getting started and also because, some days, I start, stop, and later re-start LrC to jump back into tethered shooting. Sometimes the whole works just keeps crashing for reasons only the Gods understand and we are quitting LrC and starting over to re-establish camera connections. Tether capture seems like a major function of LrC so a "get started" shortcut seems wise.

  When merging HDR in Lightroom, strange artifacts like the photos occur around bright light sources or their surrounding areas This issue mainly happens with nighttime photos that have intense lighting It occurs regardless of whether 'Auto Align' or 'Auto Settings' is enabled, and I'm using three exposures: -2, 0, and +2 Increasing the deghosting amount can resolve the issue if the problematic areas are included in the deghosting target (since deghosting works by addressing such areas without merging multiple images) However, if the area isn’t identified as a deghosting, the issue remains unresolved       Additionally, when merging sunset photos, applying deghosting to address issues like moving clouds often causes noticeable color banding along the boundaries of the deghosted areas (last 2 photos) The color and tonal gradation don't align properly, creating visible layers I'd like to know how to resolve this issue Also, if there's a specific name for these

When using the object masking tool LR has suddenly begun making a result like the one in this screenshot.It will make the square/rectangle, partterned, selection around the selection i have made. In this example i selected the the opening in the middle, above the handrail, with the 2 beams and the blownout sky. Does/has this happened to anyone else? if so, how did you fix it?

HelloThe following situation occurs: I have lightroom classic on iMac os Monterey. One on MacBook Air os sequoia 15.1.1 . My photos and Lightroom catalog are on external SSD disk. The last few weeks I have been working on my MacBook Air. Now I recently reconnected my external disk to iMac and get the message that the catalog is not compatible with the os version on iMac and I have to update the operating system to a later version, but my iMac can no longer be updated to a later version of os. Is there a solution for this? Or do I have to create two separate catalogs, one for iMac and one for MacBook Air?This probably means that I have double work with entering keywords. Or is there another solution?Thanks for your answer.

Hi everyone! Yesterday I purchased a preset from Archipelago. I download it and it worked. Today I had some problems with Lightroom and decided to reset all the settings. After that, the preset is gone. When I try to download it again, it shows me this message: Unable to import preset. All items were already imported.  I'm not any kind of a technical person unfortunately, so I really don't know what to do to restore the preset I bought. Can anyone help me? Would appreciate it a lot!

I have recently been unable to create new catalogues in Lightroom.I select File > New Catalogue but then I am endlessly given the New Folder option and not the create option.This is probably really simple and I'm not techy in any respect - all suggestions gratefully received!Thank you.

I am using the Lightroom Classic App on my HP Laptop and i have been exploring preference settings not that i have Topaz AI. I was able to add the plugin so i can "Edit in Topaz AI" however, when trying to adjust the preferences to utlize the app and editing software i am not getting many options. Some of the tutorials i have seen i see them go to (Edit>Preferences>General, etc..) and a bunch of options come up to set the gb of photo you export, exporting in Raw and so on.The problem i am having is that when i go to edit, then preferences i get very little options at all and not seing at all the options i am seing in these tutorial. What i am doing wrong or what is going on here? I hope someone understands what i am trying to say and can help! Thank you,Ryan

I am setting up a new Mac Mini M4 Pro.  My old iMac is a late-2015 Intel chip and I have been advised to do a 'clean install' to avoid bringing over any Intel problems.  When I set up the new Mac, I will need to download a new version of Creative Cloud.  I assume it will install Lightroom v14 (or later).  My current Lr catalogue is 13.3.  When I transfer the old catalogue over to the new Mac (with a newer version of Lightroom) will the old catalogue still work; or will it be automatically updated; or will there be a disconnect that will cause me a problem?

Katalogdateien sind lokal auf dem Mac gespeichert, die Bilder habe ich auf einem Netzwerkpfad liegen.Jetzt zeigt sich folgendes Verhalten:Beim Öffnen von LC werden die letzten Bilder angezeigt (Vorschau?) zusammen mit der Meldung "Datei nicht gefunden". Öffne ich jetzt den Finder und navigiere hier einmal auf das entsprechende Netzwerklaufwerk (einfach nur durchklicken) und kehre zu LC zurück verschwindet die Meldung und ich kann die Bilder in voller Auflösung sehen.Schließe ich nun LC und starte es wieder ist immer noch alles okay.Wird der Mac neugestartet tritt das Problem wieder auf. Es scheint so (ACHTUNG! Gefährliches Halbwissen) als ob LC nach Neustart des System nicht weiß wo die Bilder/Dateien liegen bzw. nicht darauf zugreifen kann (oder käme dann eine andere FM?)...LC besitzt Festplattenvollzugriff...Liegt das evtl. daran das der Katalog an einem anderen Speicherort liegt als die Bilder?

My aged pc has stopped functioning, and I am in the process of buying a new one.  How do I install my current Adobe plan - Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, etc - on the new pc so I keep the existing plan's terms and billing, and presets and preferences.  I am not worried about my photos; they have already been saved elsewhere.  With my old pc not working, I'm not sure which versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop I have, but they have been regularly updated since 2015.  Queries about switching to a new pc should be pretty common, but in the ocean of information one has to know the terminology and how to ask.  Thanks.  

After updating to Lightroom Classic v14.0 today, the "Previous" button is not working properly. The details are as follows:In Develop mode, turn Caps Lock on.After finishing editing one picture, press 3 to set the rating to 3 stars, then automatically move to the next picture.At this point, clicking the "Previous" button should apply the previous settings to the current picture, but it doesn't.Does anyone know how to fix this bug?   Thanks!

The LR upgrade also upgraded my catalogs (2). Now, when I boot, I have 8 catalogs to choose from - the two current ones and 6 old ones from when LR has done this in the past. The catalogs are not too big but I would like to at least get them out of the startup menu. Can the old ones be deleted now that the updated one is in force.

Why it takes much time to copy and import photos in lightroom classic for an album, even to start?i don't get it.

     I have a Mac desktop that I have been using for Lightroon  Classic. I now have a Macbook that I will be using s well when away from my desktop. The big issue for me is the question of the catalog on the Macbook. Can I use the same catalog on BOTH computers? I would have to get the Lrcat files on to the new computer I know, and to start with, I will NOT need to bring over previous photos from the desktop. I would be starting on the Macbook with new photos. With that in mind, after getting my NEW photos on to the Macbook by importing from an external (either a thumb drive or other small portable external drive), can I edit , then when back at desktop, import to the desktop LRC having fully or partially edited  the photos? Ill probaby have more questions re the catalog after. Thank you in advance- Jeremy.  

I have a product key for Lightroom 5.7. Where can I register my product? On the adobe website when I try it shows me that the key doesn't work. I'm 100% sure that the key is not used. Or where do I download lightroom 5.7

In the updated FAQ for LrC 14.3 it states "Syncing between Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop isn't recommended", see the screen capture. Is this specific to when both applications are on the same computer or does the recommendation also apply when on separate computers?
