Lightroom Classic

When I import images into Lightroom Classic from my phone or SD CARD with GPS metadata in the file Lightroom classic actually deletes the GPS information from the JPG file.  It makes no difference if you ADD or COPY the image except that ADD will destroy the metadata in the image so it will be forever lost.   You can recover the GPS data if you copied the JPG image by copying the file to the lightroom stored location and then reread the metadata from the file.   I can't use lightroom mobile which syncs with the GPS metadata intact into lightroom classic because i am often doing this in locations with no WiFi or mobile signal to achieve this and to safe guard the images.   I have been complaining about this for a long time. I am now about to dump Adobe as they are incapable of fixing minor bugs in the software. I will wait one more month to see if this simple fix can be achieved before going to ON1 where it works.

Updating LRc causes my photos to be lost and I have to re-point LRc to the file location.  How can I prevent this from happening? 

I'm hoping someone has an easy fix for me. I am having a problem on my brand new MacBook M3 Pro with 36 GB RAM when I run Lightroom. It's happened twice. I will leave Lightroom open and come back to it the next day and my laptop will have the “Your system has run out of application memory” error. The first time it happened I did have multiple Adobe apps open, the second time I only had Lightroom open (+Chrome, Mail, etc). My laptop is M3 Pro / 36 G Memory / Sonoma 14.6.1 I've only had the laptop for a week and I doubled the amount of RAM I had before so I definitely wasn't expecting any problems with the memory! 😞 

Previous laptop LRC originally worked great, then over several updates became unbelievably slow.  Tried upgrading RAM to 64gb, suggested DPI compatibility hacks, different GPU acceleration settings, minor improvements but then always back to taking 5-15 seconds to switch from 1 photo to the next, delays redrawing the screen, delays doing any masking, delays delays delays.  Just spent $3k on a new laptop with a 500% faster video card, 500% faster CPU, and it's slightly faster for some things, but after making a few edits in a collection + doing some masking, I'm right back to basic operations taking 10-15 seconds.   Please let me know what I can do to regain my sanity, I cannot keep my photography business going with how awful LR has become.  I routinely have sets of 10-15,000 images from a weekend, spending 5-10 seconds to switch from 1 photo to the next is LITERAL torture.  And my video driver is already up to date, that's not the solution.

I'm running Lightroom Classic with macOS Ventura.When I try to use the masking tool in a picture, Lightroom crashes and closes itself.Any advice about this annoying problem?

Résultat, mon catalogue ne retrouve pas un bom nombre de fichiers répartis dans différents dossiers. Comment puis-je rechercher ces fichiers automatiquement, c'est à dire pas un par un??? I have photos of an object that has a front and back. I am wondering if there is a way I can set the file naming to sequence the first number along with a second, like so:0001-10001-20002-10002-2and so onI want the first number to be the object's number and the 1 would mean front and 2 would mean back. I need this to be in 1 and 2 and not written out "front" and "back." Let me know if you know of a way this would be possible!

Hi,  I've always used the masking tool in Lightroom Classic and then using the pencil to define certain areas. Since a few days, the pencil is no longer working. No error message, just not doing it. Example: when I use a mask to select the background and the tool selects a few parts as part of the background that I want to exclude from the background. I would normally use the pencil to remove that part from the selection. When I now use the pencil, nothing happens. See screenshot of an image where you see selected red parts on the horse on the left side, which I want to remove.  Can anyone help? I'm using Lightroom Classic 13.2 on a Macbook Air

Hi, when i make use of the import function and import fotos from local device to my NAS there is some sort of progress bar sync problem. It looks as if lightroom is non responsive but in the background there is file transport. This makes when you are importing a large ammount of images it seems lightroom is "dead".  I repeated the issue and also monitored the NAS for traffic and this is what is happening:Images are transferred in the background, the software seems unresponsive, this is also what Windows shows you. Due the inresponsive state you see no progress bar and you have no clue if the program is actually responsive. Hello,   I updated to Ver. 12.3 and noticed that the white balance in Before was wrong when I compared the Before and After of unedited RAW photos(even though they should be the same).   I used in-body custom white balance at a venue with LED lights (~4000K), and the RAW photos looked right in the older version. But, after updating to LrC, the Before looked way too warm. Strangely, the unedited RAW photos still had the correct white balance in After. Maybe the software incorrectly switched to "Auto" white balance, instead of "As Ahot"?   Additional information: 1. Camera: Sony A7IV 2. Computer: M1 Mac   Thank you!

When I view my photos in file they look good, but as soon as I import them into Lightroom they get blurred and dark, it was not doing that a week ago?

Recently when I connect my iPhone to my Mac and select Import in LrC, what it shows as photos and videos available to import (I have all available, not just "new" selected) does not reflect what is on the iPhone. It has some of the items, but seems to arbitrarily not see other items. Some photos from an activity show, but not others. Some from one day, but then not the day before or after, but then some from several days later. Very random as far as I can tell. Of note, all the items on my iPhone are also sync'd to my Photos app on the Mac and show up in iCloud. So, the content is there, LrC Import window just not seeing it. I've been using LrC and importing from iPhones for about 4 years and never once experienced this issue.  I have rebooted the phone and restarted the computer with no change in behavior. Given the issue, I'm not really clear what the problem is so hard to knowwhat to try next... Any suggestions?

In Preferences – External editing i can only choose TIFF or PSD as file format when editing with Photoshop (beta). Why is it not possible to choose JPEG?

Hola, hace unos días experimenté problemas al hacer sesión de fotos, con la cámara sony 6700 conectada al portatil con la carpeta vigilada, que antes mostraba el resultado con el preset correctamente y salía automáticamente. Ahora hace unos días no, sale continuamente la ventana de origen y ubicación de los archivos, y me estoy volviendo loco para que vuelva a estar como antes, alguién sabe por que es?Tampoco me funciona la captura automática desde la cámara, se queda detectando cámara y no la encuentra. gracias a todos

Hi, I am using Lightroom Classic 13.5.1 Camera Raw 16.5 and this is the first time I encountered this issue.Setup: MacBook 13 Pro - OS: Sonoma 14.5, Camera: Canon R6 II, External SSD where I keep my files whlie editing them.Last evening after I exported my files from camera card to SSD, and after I imported all the photos into lightroom - all the raw photos were duplicated into the same location where I saved on the SSD.  So, if i have a photo called 123.cr3 - one new copy called 123-2.cr3 was created and this is the one used by lightroom.I have to specify that I didn't check the "Make a photo copy" option while importing the photos in lightroom.Any idea about this? It's quite bad as these copies are occupying a lot of space.Thank you!

Since version 13.5.1, removal by AI is not working. The object is selected, the analysis is performed, but the object is not removed. Before the version update, the object was removed normally. Could this be the update or another cause?

Nun funktioniert dieser gar nicht mehr. Verschiedene USB-C Kabel ausprobiert.

Using LrC I keep getting. Message the app has run out  of memory.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled but its using far too much memory.  I am using mini Mac M1 Sonomo v 14.6.1.  Lr v 13.5.1.  This is a real nuisance as it tells me close other apps when I haven't got anything open!  Very frustrating.  Help please.....   [Title changed by moderator to describe the problem more clearly.]

Hello, today i was trying some things with deep sky stacker I don't know if that does anything just in case of any conflicts and noticed lightroom classic (13.2 release) (subscription) cannot export into my external hard drive, while photoshop, acrobat, word and any other software I tried works, I have tried looking into a older thread but all I found was not working for me, I tried the choose folder later but I get an error, same with the regular export settingsNote: I also tried to replace original image, choose folder later, specific folder options and none worked since it was on my external SSD while it could export to my pcs internal storage easilyAdditional Info: Lightroom classic (13.2 release) (subscription)Windows 10 pro I have full administrator privileges, so there should be no permission problem 

I have been using the 5.3 catelouge for ages and want to use it withthe latest LR. Any suggestion on how to go about this? I have a sub and have downlowed LR but it will not open my Catalouge. 

Olá pessoal tudo bem?Estou com um problema, se puderem me ajudar...Eu crio um catálogo e começo a editar as minhas fotos, se eu preciso parar e desligar o LR, ou o pc, quando volto a editar o LR reseta toda a edição que eu fiz. Aparentemente, ele naõ reconhece o meu catálogo anterior e não o abre. Por exemplo: nomeei como Gabi, ele não reconhece e cria um novo chamado Gabi-v1, e depois Gabi-v2, e depois Gabi-v3, nunca reconhecendo e abrindo o anterior. Alguem já passou por isso?Obrigadaa! ❤️
