Recently Lightroom seems to stall or deadlock when moving folders between my Laptop's SSD and NAS (over SMB). Here's a screenshot of network activity. On the left, Lightroom is moving a large folder at a rate of 1 image per minute. It copies the file quickly, then stalls - apparently no activity. On the right, I gave up and just moved the folder using macOS Finder - it maxed out the NAS's write speed over 10Gbe ethernet. I've tried restarting Lightroom, and I've paused all background tasks (Cloud sync, Assisted Culling, Address Lookup, Face Detection, Saving XMP metadata). Lightroom Classic 15.1, macOS Tahoe 26.3, M4 Max, 10Gbe ethernet, Synology DSM 7.3.2. The catalog has about 280k images in total, about 60k synced to Cloud.$> smbutil statshares -a | grep SMB_VERSION SMB_VERSION SMB_3.1.1
I have recently installed LRC on a new computer (Win 11), following the rather minimal Adobe instructions, and now have two laptops using the same version of LRC and the same catalog. My photos are kept on an external hard drive, which both PC's access and use--obviously not at the same time. I have done this a couple of times before without issue, but not this time. The folder/file list in LRC shows the same folders (and subfolders) on both devices--nothing is missing. BUT, the number of photos is not the same. The total is about 2% less on the newer one, though some folders have more files and some fewer (it's not consistently one way or the other). Also, some carat triangles to the left of the folder names are solid (ok) but some are grayed (or pixilated). The grayed ones do not seem to indicate subfolders. This does not appear to affect the behavior of the contents or display of those folders. I haven't tried to edit or send
Using Lightroom Classic 15.1 on Windows 11 25H2. I have a folder with an JPG image in Lightroom. Using the "Show in Explorer" function, I used Windows Explorer to make two copies of the photo. I then returned to Lightroom Classic, selected the folder and chose "Synchronize Folder" from the context menu. LR says there are two new photos in the folder:but after I clicked "Synchronize", the it said no photos were added. I found that I have to click "Show import dialog before importing" and then the two copied photos show up as duplicates in the thumbnails list, and the "Don't import duplicate photos" option was checked. Unchecking the option and selecting the new duplicates allowed me to import. From that point forward, I'm able to import duplicate photos even if I leave "Show import dialog before importing" unchecked so I synchronize without the import dialog. The last setting seems to stick. The state of the import "Don't import duplicates" is not the same setting that you get when y
I recently spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to merge a series of photos to a panorama in Lightroom Classic. The merge fails with a message that the photos lack a lens profile. It turns out that my Nikon lens has a "built in" profile, so none is provided in Lightroom. Lightroom does report that the profile is built-in, but it won't use that information to complete a panorama. After rummaging about with an AI chatbot, it seems that this is a shortcoming of Lightroom Classic (a bug?). The preferred workaround is to convert the images to DNG, then repeat the merger. This does work. But it's not at all obvious, and it isn't normal to have to convert to DNG.. Is it likely that Adobe will fix this so one doesn't have to spend so much time on figuring out how to do what used to be a straightforward process? Lightroom Classic 15.1macOS Tahoe 26.2
Not sure what happened, but my NVidia 5060 card is not supported
Recently (I have a suspicion in conincides with the update of MacOS Tahoe from 26.1 to 26.2) my Lightroom classic constantly crashes when doing various normal activities, i.e. exporting photos (crash generally after exporting 10-15 photos), when switching from grid to detail view, when trying to open a virtual copy of a raw photo etc. It is basically no longer workable. It has never done anything similar before. I run it on a Mac Studio with 64GB of RAM. I have created dozens of crash reports yet.Any suggestions how to mitigate that?
Hey Everyone! I use sync'd collections daily to share photos with clients etc and it makes total sense if I make a virtual copy within a collection that then that virtual copy would also get sync'd to the cloud BUT often when I'm finished editing a session I'll make duplicates of everything and turn them B&W and I do this inside the computer folder NOT inside of the collection. Lightroom Classic nevertheless still uploads those B&W versions to the cloud and adds them to All Sync'd Photographs. So they're not in any of my collections folders yet they get sync'd to the cloud and then I have to go there and delete them every single time. Any wisdom as to why Adobe does this? I wish there was a toggle button to turn this off. If I want a Virtual Copy sync'd, I'd put it in the sync'd collection. Just an annoyance... maybe something they're not even aware is happening?? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
I was editing a photo in the develop module when a popup occurred roughly saying LRC has encountered a problem with the Preview Cache File and it had to close. When I reopened LRC everything thing was blank. In the library module all was blank except for file name and EXIF dataClicking the development setting button in lower right corner open-end the image in the Develop module with the adjustments applied so images and edits are the I just can't see them. There are about 30,000 images in this Catalog from a recent trip of a Lifetime safari to Kenya with about half the images with preliminary edits.I am happy the pictures are there. I think they are all backed up to the cloud but if it is only a link to the previews that would save a lot of time. This forum has been a great help before. LRC 15.0.1 Mac OS Tahoe 26.2
I had accidentally imported photos of 4 separate basketball games that occured in January2026 into my December 2025 subfolder of my 2025 main folder. Using "Update Folder Location" I successfully moved them to my 2026 main folder, but on that folder was a small black circle with an exclamation point in it, which reveals a message that says "subfolder(s) are missing in this folder, please relink..." I right-clicked on that folder and did not see any "relink" option, so I clicked on synchronize folder" and those photos promptly dissapeared! HELP!! I am a sports photographer, and I need those folders to fullfill orders. I have looked all over my computer, and in Lightroom Classic, and I can not find them. Can anybody please help?
The Lightroom Folder on my Mac is taking up 2GB. Which files can I safely delete to free up space? The Backups folder is taking up most of the space. Apologies if this question has been asked before, I'm a novice at file management and would greatly appreciate any help + explanations. Thank you, Julia
Windows 11 has a default NTFS allocation unit size of 4K when formatting external drives. I am intending to use a 4TB external ssd drive. However, I understand that large files or 4K video files are better suited to larger allocation unit sizes for read/write speeds. Allocation sizes include 16K, 32K and 64K and I see that 64 K is often recommended on the internet. I have many 20MB files and now shoot between 30-50MB typically plus some 5 minute 4k video files. However, if the Lightroom catalog is saved as a zip file, can it be opened in Lightroom Classic and used if NTFS format at higher allocation sizes are used uo to 64K? As a secondary question, can previously saved Lightroom zip files, saved on a drive formatted at 4K be opened if moved to a new external SSD drive formatted at say 64K?
I've uploaded many books from lightroom classic to blurb. Recently I've been unable to. The upload stalls and never completes. Lightroom classic says "waiting for blurb server processing". I'd be grateful for any advice.
I just went to print for the first time after upgrading from LR v14 and discovered to my dismay that all of my custom print templates in LR 15 on Windows had reverted to Color "Managed By Printer". The dozens of color calibration profiles I have for various printer/paper combinations had become unlinked from my templates. In addition, the drop down list of available profiles (the ones from "Choose profiles to appear in the popup") was empty. I managed to track down the problem to a case sensitivity issue by diffing one of the print templates I repaired against the copy that worked fine with LR 14 and earlier. In all of the lrtemplate files and the LrTemplateCache.lrcache in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Print Templates, LR14 and earlier had written the paths to my color profiles using upper case for my Windows directory like this:printingProfile = "C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\spool\\drivers\\color\\Canon Pixma PRO-100 XPS - Red River Palo Duro Soft
In LR 15.0.1, photo:saveMetadata() often returns before the metadata is actually saved to disk. In LR 14.5.1 and earlier, it blocked until the metadata was saved to disk. This causes significant problems for plugins that use Exiftool to update photo metadata, especially plugins that change capture date/time, e.g. Capture Time To Exif and Any Filter. (Notoriously, the SDK has never provided a method for plugins to change capture date/time.) The script in the recipe below demonstrates the problem by saving the metadata to disk for a batch of photos, running Exiftool to change the rating of those photos, then reading the metadata from disk. In LR 14.5.1, it completes correctly. But in LR 15.0.1, the save to disk often completes after Exiftool executes, overwriting Exiftool's change to the rating. To reproduce with LR 15.0.1 and 14.5.1 on Mac OS 15.7.1: 1. Install Exiftool if not already installed. 2. Download and unzip this catalog:https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2m0btdfabt7aul4dsec17/asyn
When shooting with the XF 35mm f2 R WR on the X-T5, the lens correction file was not applied correctly, resulting in a discrepancy between the RAW image displayed in Camera Raw and the JPG image.
Screen capture of the LR screen with comments. 191 images in this catalog are greyed out and non-accessible. All the rest of the 6248 images in the catalog are viewable and have no issues. Pop-up error dialog I get when trying to delete/export any/all of these 191 images:“An internal error has occurred.?:0: attempt to index field 'rootfile' (a nil value)” Noticed that the difference in counts between ‘Catalog’ and ‘Folders’ panes on the left is 191. The same number as the number of grayed out images in Library view panel. See above link for some clarity. How can I delete/remove these from the catalog?
I am switching from a PC to a Mac and have my photos on an external HD attached to the PC. I now have the external drive attached to the Mac and have downloaded LRc to it as well. My question is how do I transfer just the catalog side because I don't need to move the photos....Thank you in advance Seth
I have a Surface Book 3 latptop running Windows 11 Home. The latest updates of Lightroom run soooooo slow, and I am constantly having to close it and start it again. Hi. After updating to the latest version of Lightroom (15.1), I can't get the "hover over presets" option to work in the Develop module. It only works in the browser, but now it also shows up in the Magnifier. This is causing performance issues. Help.

I have been unable to import in Lightroom Classic for months now. The issue seems to be in the importer dialog as it won't load my photos in the import preview. I've given LrC full disk access on Mac. I've restarted. I've cleared my preferences and catalog. I've tried synchronizing the folder and skipping the import dialog. Nothing gets my photos into my catalog. Any help?
I recently downloaded an update to my Epson Printer XP-15000. Now I am unable to print from Lightroom Classic 15.1 Any clue as to How I can fix this?
Hi,Synching from LrC has ceased to work properly. I use it to synch collections that I can then use for my website in Portfolio. Now the synched collections have disappeared within LrC and are no longer in the cloud. I have tried to recreate the collections and to synch them but the process is very slow and idiosyncratic - 2 or 3 photos may take days to synch. I have everything I can think of, incuding reinstalling lightroom. What can I do? Mac OS Sequoia and latest version of LrC. Thanks, John
