Photoshop

Sometimes when working, between 30 minutes and an hour, the canvas and navigator will suddenly become frozen. The rest of the program doesn't freeze but the canvas/navigator does not update. To make matters worse, when this happens any attempt to save will not complete. For example, if you save-as the document the dialogs will close as normal but the file won't save and will still have an asterisk. If you try to legacy export for web it says an error occured. If you close the program it will ask if you want to save, and if you say yes it goes back to the main program and never saves. Latest version of Photoshop 2025, Adobe Cloud, and latest version of Windows 11 as of 3/12/2025. Default Photoshop settings (happens on a fresh install, already tried reinstalling). Nvidia RTX 3050 on desktop. I want to make Adobe aware of this issue. Hopefully it's happening to others as well. When I had Photoshop 2024 and it never happened. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

My pc runs windows 10 and at the end of the year it will not be supported. My pc will not accept windows 11. That means I will have to buy an new pc. The photoshop version I have is CS5.1 extended. It is on a cd that I bought years ago. It also has the product code. I know that when it comes time to set up the new pc, I have to deactivate photoshop on the old pc before downloading it on to the new pc. I know that this version is not supported anymore with updates. My question is, will I still be able to download it from the cd onto the new pc? What preparation or information do I need to do before I do the download? I hope that I can still use this version because I can't afford the newer photoshops.Thanks,Terry

I'm looking for a tool or a JavaScript that let me know the color mode of a SmartObject in Photoshop. I have copied objects from an Illustrator file and pasted it in a PSD file. The PSD could be in RGB or CMYK, and similarly, the AI objects could be in CMYK or RGB. I want a JavaScript that tells me the color mode of the SmartObject.  Can anyone help on this, please.

So I have written a script with extendscript, only to realise it can be easily decrypted, and shared.  So I would like to protect it and sell it some way without having to rewrite the whole thing in UXP which wasn't quite as well documented when I made the decision to code with the legacy extendscript. Is there anyway I can protect it?Here are some potential avenues I would like to explore and would be grateful if anyone has any experience or dos/donts etc.  Turn it into a CEP plugin like so, basically eval the whole script once fetched. I know it's not overly secure but it feel the script would be better protected than a .jsxbin on its own. I'd b using the legacy interface I made with the the original script. Olá, meu photoshop 26.4.1 começou a apresentar umas falhas como não conseguir ver a dureza do pincel ou qualquer outra ferramenta que precise aumentar ou diminuir, a foto abre toda pixelada e a grade de corte aparece algumas cores que antes não apareciam.

Desde hace un tiempo me pasa lo siguiente: al procesar una foto con el camera raw o se reinicia el PC o PS se cuelga. Da igual lo que haga, incluso escribiendo un texto. Tengo un ordenador muy potente, procesador amd ryzen 3900X, 64 gb de ram, dos ssd m2 y gráfica rtx 2080, todo el sistema refrigerado con líquido. He formateado el ordenador, he instalado PS en distintos discos, he deshabilitado la aceleración de la Gpu, he cambiado la ubicación de la caché y mil cosas más que he leído por ahí. Desesperante es poco...Tengo la última versión de PS, la del 2025. W11 actualizado.Agradezco cualquier sugerencia, gracias.

I want to resize an image that maintain the aspect ratio. I was using v.22 that need to hold shift to maintain the aspect ratio. I know that we need to tick the "legacy free transform" on general preference. I already turned it on but nothing change. If I didn't tick the legacy free transform, everything's normal but since I'm using the old version for a long time that need to hold shift, I want it back like that.When the legacy transform is on, whether I hold shift or not, the maintain aspect ratio automatically goes off. I tried to reinstall the photoshop 3 times and nothing changed. I'm using the old version, the same that I used before also nothing happened. The maintain aspect ratio keep getting off whether I hold shift or not, except when the legacy free transform is off.

I find that Photo Restoration in Neural Filters is very very slow and would like to know if upgrading my GPU from  GeForce GTX 1660 improve this.I've looked at some GPUs and think the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 3X 12G OC is good but very expensive unless it saves a lot of time. Perhaps it is overkill.Does anyone know what difference this might make to my processing?Or is there a website which you could point me to? What is Adobe's current 2025 GPU recommendation for Windows PC?

Hi,I work in game development, where it's common to use tileable textures that include additional information stored in the alpha channel of an image. For instance, we often assign the RGB channels to albedo data and reserve the alpha channel for roughness data.Recently, we encountered an issue with the alpha channel of our textures. When downscaling the image in Photoshop (using "Bicubic Sharper" or other similar algorithms), the alpha channel displays visible seams along the edges. Interestingly, this problem does not affect the RGB channels, which scale down without any issues.I suspect that the problem relates to the algorithm's handling of neighboring pixels, though it seems the alpha channel is processed differently than the RGB channels.This poses a significant challenge, as our designers frequently need to downscale numerous textures. When selecting a palette from the right-hand column of the Photoshop window, a pop-up window appears over the working image I want to apply the changes to. This is annoying as I have to disconnect the palette and drag it outside the PSD window, usually Layers and Actions, so I can see the applied results. Otherwise, I have to apply a change and close it back into the side column, view the results, and then open it again to continue the changes. What? This is a basic function, and I'm sure Adobe has a way to make the palette panel pop up to the right side of the column leaving an unobstructed view of the working image. So what is it? 

Hey everyone, I am encountering issues when applying a preset to a raw image from lightroom. If someone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. I've resetted both programs and set the colour profiles to match one another. My workflow is as follows :I import all my images to lightroom > choose the raw image I want to edit > open the image from lightroom, and click "edit in photoshop" > retouch image > go back to lightroom to apply the preset = preset changes colour drastically.For reference, the image on the left is what the preset should look like, image on the right is what the preset looks like when applied to a PSD file.

I use photoshop 2019. I was going through the presets when I accidentally clicked on the background eraser. This caused the background eraser to replace the regular eraser on the toolbar.  HOWEVER, the regular eraser is NOT on the list of tool presets and I don't know how to restore it.  I don't know if I'm being dumb or if this is an actual problem. Please help.

Why I lost metadata after modydy JPG file with AdobePhotosop and exprot file? I need GPS and shooting day for GoogleMaps, but after modyfy file with Adobe I lost its. Some time I modify photos after 2 years, I don't want GoogleMaps will have wrong day. If I use Adobe for editing photo, I don't have correct day on GoogleMaps but same day as I have upload photos to GoogleMaps (or date I have modify photo on AdobePhotoshop).I have mode use Affinity Photo, and there is not this problem. Photo will have real shooting day and GPS, and then there will be correct shooting day on GoogleMaps after uploading photos.

I'm specing out a new Mac Studio, and want to figure out the best configuration.I work a lot with psb files that are quite large - 20 to 50GB. Saving and opening takes a while on my current machine, a 2019 mac pro, even on the internal ssdI have compression disabled, which does speed things up considerablyOn the new machine, internal storage is a lot more expensive than external. Would I see a difference in thunderbolt 4 vs thunderbolt 5 vs internal SSD? Can photoshop save quickly enough to take advantage of the higher speeds?

I have no idea what has happened. However, none of my tiff or RAW files show up as picture thumbnails in Bridge. Just JPEG's do. I have reset things, refreshed things etc, to no avail. If I hover over a tiff of RAW ikon (no image included) it shows some basic meta data, but not all of it. If I hover over a jpeg it shows all meta data. If I double click on a picturless tiff or RAW file it will open properly in Photshopt CC. This is a serious problem for my workflow. Help please. Thanks

Hi, I guess looking at other posts here that I know roughly what the answer to my question here is going to be.However, I believe that there is a bug in Mac OS Sequoia that is stopping me from using my current workflow that I have been using fine without issue for many years. So all my images are stored on a NAS. I open them in Bridge/ACR/Photoshop directly from the NAS, edit, and save the results back to the NAS. The images are never saved locally. The files on the NAS also get automatically backed up. Anyway, I understand this isn't Adobe's recommended workflow and they suggest you work on your files locally for performance reasons. However it seems that Sequoia has introduced a file system issue (bug?)  that makes my current workflow pretty much impossible now. So.. an example.... Double click a raw file in Bridge (should open Photoshop, then open the file in ACR) It really couldn't be much simpler.
