For the past couple of months many of our users have been having an error pop up regarding fonts. Apparently Adobe won’t provide any form of assistance unless you pay for their services so hopefully the community can do better than them.The company goes through massive amounts of PDFs (and has started to digitize their physical files) so errors like these can be very troublesome.I have no idea why this is happening… I assumed it was related to the latest version of Adobe Reader so I stopped updating the application on the users computers. The problem is not listed on the known issue list for Adobe Reader… The only thing I found online was for users to make sure the option Use Local Fonts was checked under the Page Display settings however I guess that option no longer exists or I am blind…. I confirmed the two fonts are installed on the computer and they work with Microsoft word without any issue.Everybody is using windows 11 25H2. Hope you guys can help.

I must have set acrobat reader as default to open PDF - I do not want that to happen, I want PDF files to open as just that, PDF files. How do I restore my settings? I am on a mac.

As an organization, we are using Windows 10 with the "LongPathsEnabled" registry entry set to 1, as posted here: Enable Long Paths in Windows 10, Version 1607, and Later This has helped us with moving long pathed files and opening them in Microsoft Office programs. However, Adobe Acrobat DC (and Acrobat Reader DC) still cannot open files with paths longer than 255 characters. We have tested this in multiple scenarios and have found that Acrobat has this problem with any long file path. The file simply won't open or opens a blank document. If you copy the document to a short path, it opens flawlessly. I have found several similar threads here , here and here . All mention it's a file path limitation of Windows. That is simply no longer the case. Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (version 2017.009.20044) and, since yesterday, the scrolling with my touchpad goes way too faster than I can control. I'm a researcher and reading PDFs is a basic part of my job, and it is very uncomfortable not being able to scroll properly. I'm using windows 10, by the way.

I have installed the 2019 version which i much prefer to more recent versions and disabled both the Adobe Acrobat Update Service in Start-up type in "services" and in "Task Scheduler Library." But when i do the monthly windows 11 update, it automatically deleates the 2019 version and downloads and installes the 2024 version instead.  Is there any way i can stop this from happening?

Situation and error description1. reader crashes without error message if you want to set a signature with certificate or if a PDF signed in this way is opened/signed.2. signed PDFs can generally not be opened, neither by double-clicking nor by “Open file” via an open Reader. It does not matter whether the signature is from the internal CA or was created by an external party.3. I am sorry to disturb again the community but i still cannot install Acrobat Reader on my PC (Win 11 Surface Pro).I am using the official download from Adobe web site, installation starts and finishes successfully but NO Acrobat Reader is installed on the PC.I tried this over and over again. I also used Adobe cleaner to make sure that no garbage from prior installations remain on the PC but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.Many thanksDinos

I downloaded and installed Reader several times on my new laptop. Each time, I received confirmation of download and install, but app is not in my Program Files folder, nor findable in my Start function, nor in control panel Apps management - I can’t open it because it seems it’s not there. The installer file disappears from my Downloads folder when installation is complete. The whole app seems to vanish! This is my personal laptop (Windows 11), and I am an Administrator. Tried AcroCleaner and it didn’t help. Any ideas what's happening?

MacOs. Adobe Reader Free Version 2025.001.21111.I try to open any PDF and the app opens a window asking me to login to Adobe. I click the X to close the window and the entire program crashes. The only workaround is to uninstall the program and reinstall it from scratch. Then it works for a few days or weeks, but the problem eventually comes back. Might be tied to auto-updating, but I’m not sure. This time I took a screen recording so you guys can see it for yourself. See attached file.The problem needs to be fixed, it’s been present since around June 2025 and I believe is affecting all MacOS users just trying to use the Free version of Adobe Reader.

I have multiple users who are getting both of the following errors:Cannot find or create font 'ArielMT'. Some characters may not display or print correctly. A Drawing Error OccuredAttempted to do the following:Repairing Adobe Installing the missing font Deleting preferences in AppData Uninstalling/Reinstalling Adobe ReaderAdobe Reader is up to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve tried multiple times to download Reader to my new Surface Pro 11 and whichever way I try it ends up with “Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL”. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

base on investigation that was opened to Microsoft support i got the following reponse:have identified, a problem in one of Adobe's 64-bit modules shipping with Adobe Acrobat (64-bit, 25.001.21184) that loads a different version of Window Common Controls as their 64-bit ActiveX control needs to properly render a PFD file.We only tested with default configuration of Adobe Reader.There is no such rendering problem when the control hosting process is 32-bit, as this loads the 32-bit version of Adobe's ActiveX control, which loads the desired version of the 32-bit Window Common Controls.The issue only happens with 64-bit control hosting processes.Basically, it would be important the Adobe investigated the 64 bit plugin and ensure that they properly call the correct Windows Common Controls.We also engage our Adobe contacts internal to address this towards them directly. 

The threads I’m seeing on this are some 15 years old, so.. here we go. Again.  Exploding with rage, because Adobe has managed to kill 3 more hours of productivity today.Stupidly upgraded to the disaster that is called paid version of Acrobat.  Quickly uninstalled, subscription cancelled.Then I went to reinstall Reader and there’s no box to decline McAfee. (Nor is there a way to STOP the installation process, aside from CTRL-ALT-DEL, which I engaged in a panic.)Is there no way to  install without McAfee these days?  If so, please list your fav alternate pdf reader. Thanks to the community. Middle finger (as usual) to Adobe.

I like highlighting when I'm studying. I noticed that, now, every time I highlight something, Acrobat Reader automatically switches from the highlighting tool to the text selection tool, forcing me to click on the highlighting tool again. This is quite annoying, I'm pretty sure it didn't do that before. Is there a configuration I need to change to stop this behavior?

I have a windows 10 all in one desktop computer.  I cannot open or read any PDF files.  I have tried turning off my Norton Security firewall and that does not resolve the issue.  The error message is very generic:  Application Initialization Error.  I have also tried to installing using Google Chrome but receive the same error message.  Microsoft said they cannot help me.  Adobe doesn't offer phone support for Adobe Reader.  Can someone please tell me what I can do to get this resolved??? It is extremely frustrating!

Hello Together, iam not able to install the Asian Font Pack and Spelling Dictionary for Reader in case that the VersionAdobe Acrobat Reader DC Adobe.Acrobat.Reader.64-bit 2025.001.20577is not Supported by the Installer "AcroRdrALSDx64_2300820421_all_DC.msi"  i get the Message shown in the attachment. How iam able to install the Asian Font an Spelling in the Version 2025.001.20577 ?With best Regards Daniel 

When user opens a particular pdf, the above-mentioned error pops up. We are currently using Adobe Acrobat (64-bit), Version 25.001.21184. We are using the free version. Is there a link to download the font ArialMT?

I’m trying to print one page from a PDF file which only will load in Acrobat; although each time I try to print, I get an error that it’s a manual feeder even though my printer settings are set to automatic ?

Receiving this error when opening PDF attachments in Outlook 2016 with the latest Adobe Reader DC.  Have tried to unset security levels but it still does this error.

Tried to install Acrobat Reader (DC) from the Windows store and also from downloads. Both are not successful. Only have the standard windows native antivirus. Does create an empty folder in program files x86. But nothing runs. Also nothing showing Add Remove Programs and nothing in the start menu. I then tried to do the same on a new user on the the same machine, and install fails again. Already tried system restore, and it was a new build. Maybe Adobe has a problem? Suggestions? Thanks!
