Questions

The issue is that mesh information can be displaced in explore, but fail to load the 3D mesh in the viewport. I have multiple linked static meshes (.fbx format) in the same package. Only few of them share this issue. I suspect it has something to do with how the link is established, because some are dragged from folder, while others are copy/paste from other packages. I just started learning through tutorails and was making tiger stripe apttern. By mistake I set the scale to 200 and the program got shut. I lost my files. Is there a way to recover? Also, how to enable autosave ?

Hello eveyone,What i'm trying to do is import a logo pattern I made in illustrator/photoshop. I want it to repeat over a fabric material, much like Louis Vuitton! Simple enough right? I'm trying to import the bitmap and SVG I made into Substance Designer (SD) and then input it to a tile generator and hopefully overlay it over this beautiful fabric. I have a screenshot attached of the project.What is going wrong is the tile generator stays black and nothing is tiled even with the image input on. Should I give up and not have this logo/pattern on top of the fabric? -The whole idea-I want to import this SBSAR into my C4D project which has a great cloth simulation to show this puppy off. The whole idea is put to a halt and I'm running out of time to show this to a client.  Any insight would be so very appreciated! Thanks in advance kind people.

Hi,  I am a beginner in Designer and currently I have an issue where my Designer sbar isn't properly generating the correct output files. I followed a tutorial on making an asphalt texture. Within Designer itself, my texture renders properly and I can see the correct result. I did my own research on the problem and saw that outdated files (or workflows?) can make materials not generate correctly, but the tutorial is only a year old. I am trying to scatter leaves across a shape (a sphere right now) using mesh sampler in conjunction with Geometry instancing. The problem is that the orientation is messed up, the leaves point outward from the sphere correctly, but the face of the leaf is kind of random. If I turn off particle orientation all the leaves point up which would be ok if I could copy the closest surface normal. I suppose I could probably get there if I could get access to the point set's vector info but not sure how to do that either.Any recommendation on how to proceed would be appreciated.

I'm trying to configure Substance 3D Designer for a team of artists to interface with perforce, but it doesn't seem to be support checking-out and export textures that are already in p4.Will this feature be supported?(currently on v11.2.1)

Greetings all! I'm still fairly new to Susbtance Designer and I was wondering if anyone knew how to go about creating and then adding ceramic-type edge damages to the tops of some of the ceramic tiles in a given texture. I've played around with creating specific shapes and then using tile generators to spread them around, but it always looks a little too man-made even with tile generation and offsetting. If someone has a more efficient method of adding such edge damages, please let me know.Thanks!

Hey I'm lost... I've open an sbsar from assets library. Then I click on open/ view in 3d view/etc/etc No matter what I click.The graph does not open, the shader does not show in 3d view, etc etc.. How do I edit/work with this thing?  I tried substance from 2020 legecry version and the new Adobe one...  What do I do? RegardsDariusz

3 days ago I finished a complete graph in Substance Designer. I saved it as a .sbs as usual. I reopened it several times since.Today I tried opening it in Substance Designer (same version) and the file is completely empty : My file explorer says the file is 1KB and that's clearly not normal. Also, I opened it yesterday, and everything was fine. I'm sure everything was fine. Any idea was caused this and how to solve it? That would be a real bummer if I couldn't get it back. Thanks in advance for any help. PS: I searches the internet and didn't find anything except checking if it was a .sbar file. It's not, it's a .sbs.

1. I did a perfect 12x12 square cells atlas     but  the "splitter" shows me nothing at all ?  Should I do something special to make it work?  2.   Atlas scatter  works but  makes the alpha/opacity  kind of  binary  . It strongly degrades the quality of detais  and I have to do it in 8196x8196 resolution .  It still doesn't help much although.  Is there any workaround for this?    Itried to use pre-multiplied  alpha  and it results in  black halos , tried un-premultiplied and put actual anti-aliazed alpha into metall channel  . Alpha goes through with same black halos . Is there a way to use Atlas scatter properly or  super high resolution is only way?         

Hey,I've just created Shape Splatter Blend Color node instance and I see there's only one Splatter Data input I can use. On Getting Started... Substance tutorial there're two of those. I'm new to SD and not sure if this lack of Splatter Data 2 is a bug of some kind or maybe I've missed some option to turn it on?I'll greatly appreciate your help, thanks! 

HeyI have a student substance designer and painter license that was due to expire somewhere in april 2022. I unistalled the program and then reinstalled it after a while, and now things seem to have changed and i don't know where to put the license to reactive the program as a student. Now i only have the 30 day trial. Does anyone know how to i get back to the 1 year sub?Ty

Hello, can't solve the problem, maybe it is a bug, but I can't extract curves from imported custom mesh, I'm using simple cube with selection set, but it is not working in Substance Designer node Extract Curves. i was following another tutorial and realised the tessellation started to look very different from what i was seeing in the tutorial video. so i started looking for even more "fundamental" videos hoping to find out why to no avail. here is what it looks like in the video: and this is what it looks like for me: even if i select hi-res plane: and i don't think that's the issue because even when they used the other geo like cube, etc it still looks fine, but mine just seems to have such a low res tessellation??? why!!! help!! please ;__;

I'm fairly new to designer and i'm breaking my head over this.I want to create something similar to here:And i've created a few tile generators that do their job with the color tiles perfectly, but i can't find a way to contain the tile generator patterns in a border shape kinda? Is there a smart way to create a shape/border around the tiles? So far my cube looks like this, without any white border and without the grey border at all because if i add a mask, it cuts the tiles on the edges in halfMaybe i'm entirely missing a point in how to control patterns in designer? Any tip or help is appreciatedThank you!

I'm trying to make a kind of lava animation in Substance designer. The animation is pretty much lookign the way I want it, but I've had this idea. What if I make a lava lake and the edge of the lava lake where it touches the walls is brigher/darker?In Substance I can easily make a mask and use that to influence the material in just the right way I want it. But let's say I want to make two lakes. Of different sizes and shapes. If I don't want to create a new material for every instance of me using lava, I need to get the mask information from the engine. And getting a mask would be no problem.But is there a way to use a mask from Unity and incorporate it into the graph? On a per item basis?Or would that be something I'd have to construct from scratch with shaders?  Thank you!

Substance Designer (11.2.0 build 4869 commit 0736fa44 Release (2021-06-21)) throws an error indicating an outdated driver, but the affected workstation has the most recent studio drivers from NVIDIA, using a RTX 3080ti. What is the fix?

I am using Substance Designer 2021.1.2 (11.1.2). My Computer has an Intel i9 (10th Gen), Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, 64 GB Ram.  I have updated all of my drivers (GPU to Nvidia Studio Driver Ver. 471.11) and I am still having an issue when I attempt to start a new Substance in Designer. Are there any other measures to consider, or any advice I can receive to make this work? I have seen options to open an older file, but I want to have the software function as intended.

I'm following a tutorial about procedural modelling in substance, though I'm not clear on what one does with a model. Geometry is connected to set material geometry and tag material is connected to the material socket. The only parameters of tag material, are name and color. So, how does it know what to use as the actual material? If I select a node in the model graph, then create a material node in a  substance graph, it uses the geometry that I selected. But, how do I assign different parts of a model to different materials?

I'm trying to create a mandelbrot set in designer. zn+1 = zn2 + cI'm terrible with math and I don't program. The forula seems pretty simple though. I took a couple cracks at it in fx nodes but no luck. Is there a way to do this or make an approximation of it in designer either in fx nodes or in the top graph? thx

I'm doing some test with MDLs. I've created an MDL graph in SD based on the Metallic_Roughness preset. I'm making no edits to the graph and simply exporting it (to render in vray). On export I'm getting the following errors:Though the exports 'succeeds' I'm curious what's causing the errors as I'm running into issues on the vray side as well so I'm trying to track down anything that might be the cause.TIAMorgan

Hi everyone, I'm kind of a beginner on SD and UE4 and I'm having a problem with my wood pattern when I export it to UE4.The fact is I started my wood with a perlin noise and directionnal blur (+ dynamic gradient map), then I exposed my parameters but when on UE4 the "waves" goes completely straight.I found out that the problem was the directionnal blur because if I expose it I can get "waves" if I put the intensity below 125 but I can't go further than 125 intensity after that it goes straight lines while it still work on SD. I mean it's not that problematic but I'd like to know why and if it's possible not to be limited or if I did something wrong. Thanks for your help.
