Questions

I have my colour workflow set to Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 accross the board. So Photoshop, AE, Premiere are all set to the same profile. Everything looks fine in Adobe's apps. I can play the files back in Premiere and as long as I have the Lumetri Colour viewer gamma option set to Gamma 2.4, they look fine. Same in AE, they look fine. When I view the files in various media players and on YouTube, the brightness is shifting. What is the best approach here? Should I be rendering a final version out with a gamma shift for uploading to YouTube? Would this be done by setting an output profile to sRGB Gamma 2.1 in the render module? I've seen people using a weird QuickTime Gamma LUT too. What a headache! I just want to upload videos to YouTube and have them look the same as what I can see in Creative Suite. I'm not overly technical so I'm just after some simple, practical advice. Thank you!

I make videos where I darken scenes using brightness and contrast to lower brightness, then have the scenes light back up, again, based on music using Sound Keys. The problem I run into a lot is that white does not darken the way everything else does by lowering brightness. I use hue / saturation at times to lower lightness but that usually leaves it looking a flat and unnatural gray. I know I can using masking and adjustment layers to lower exposure or other tricks, but I am looking for a way that will simply allow me to use an effect or plugin that will handle the white for me without masks or isolating all of the white elements in the scene.  I am less interested in realism than the need to have the white appear visually like all of the colors and react with brighness in a nearly identical way so that the viewers' eyes do not get drawn to the white areas due to a seeming contrast to how colors react when the dark to light shift happens with sound keys. Not s

I have created a plugin that tints an image with a color. In a previous post, I explained how the iterate function was iterating over every pixel of the sequence, and not the clip, leading to performance issue and bugs. The issue was partially solved by passing an effect area to the function. Hi,This is my very first time using After Effects, and I’m already completely stuck. I’m working on a very basic project (just resizing a clip inside another, no effects or animation), and AE freezes as soon as I try to scale a layer. hello everyone,So im new to after effects and im trying to make an edit, but to make one of the transitions I have to use an adjustment layer and put it above the two clips i want the transition to be in. The problem is that whenever i apply the transform effect and change the position to the adjustment layer it doesn't seem to add any effect to my clips, meaning that when i play the video its like nothing happened, like no edit or change was made. My guess is that my adjustment layer isn't working.If someone knows how to fix this it would really mean a lot!Thanks! XOXO

I recently upgraded to a Mac with an M4 Max chip, and transferred my old mac over. I have an old version of Particular, which I know won't work on this machine. Every time I start up AE, I get a warning message that particular has failed to load. I have no idea how to get rid of this message. Other threads have suggested deleting things from the following locations:/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/Trapcode/Applications/Adobe After Effects 2025/Plug-ins/Format/Trapcode I've checked both of these, and these folders don't exist- I can't find any folders relating to Particular on my machine. I've tried reinstalling After Effects, no luck. Can anyone help?

Is it possible to take a cropped section of a video and use that to create a pattern fill? I have a video that is 1080x1920 and a small portion of it say 200x200 (basically a clean area of animated dust over black) I want to use to generate a fill for another comp that is 1080x1920 so that dust can be used as a pattern source to fill a larger area?

Hi guys i want to make a line circle around an object i tried trim path it kind work, but not the way i wanted, i want to achieve the same result in the sample on the link, the trim path disappear when reach 100% the start and the end right? But i want it keeping in loop, how can i do that? Dell XPS 8960 / 32G Ram / 13th Gen i7 / NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070Hey crew. Looking for some help here. I'm using 3d layers and camera to create a close/far rotation effect, and it would be great to utilize top view to build these keyframes in the comp window. BUT for some reason, Top View refuses to show my layers, or my camera. It's just a black screen. All other angles, (Active, Right, Front) work perfectly. It seems like a weird glitch, and it has worked in the past, in this project. Here's what I've tried:- purge cache memory in the preferences dialog  - manually deleting user libraries / presets in My Docs- manually deleting AE Cache files in AppData/Roaming- Reinstalling A.E.(vers) 24.2.1- updating GPU drivers (NVIDEA studio driver) Any ideas?? I'd love for this to work. 

When working in after effcets on my mac the color is the way I want it to look and i think it looks great but as soon as I try to export it from after effects the color looks washed out and a lighter color as pictured below. Can anyone help me resolve this issue. Thanks.

Hi Guys,In After Effects 2018 (version 15.1.2) I was able to use the Apple Color Emoji font directly inside AE. My process was to create a line of text, change the font to Apple Color Emoji, then pull up the Emoji font keyboard and double click on the emojis I wanted to put in the line of text. In After Effects 2019 (version 16.0.1), I can't get the emojis to appear in the line of text after I double click on them. However, in the composition panel, you can see the emojis in the source name of the text layer...I've included screenshots of both a 2018 & 2019 project for reference and I'm running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.Is there a work around to use this font inside of AE 2019? Or maybe a setting I'm missing? Or is this just a bug that was overlooked in the update? I'd love to take advantage of the updated Essential Graphics tools but if I can't use the emoji font then I'll have to keep using AE 2018 Thank you in advanced for any help!

I've created a comp to use a an Essential Graphics template and added the 'Source' of the text so that it is editable. However when I make any changes to the text, they are not reflected in any instances?

I am currently creating an Premiere Pro plugin using the After Effects C++ SDK. I created a simple Tinter plugin that tints all pixels in my clip. To iterate on all of the pixels, I am using the iterate function. My problemThe plugin worked well, but when I applied it to a clip that had a smaller resolution (1920 x 1080) than my sequence global resolution (3840 x 2160), I realized that the effect was applied to all the sequence's pixels, and not just my clip's pixels. I don't understand why, since I didn't neither manipulate the output size nor used the PF_OutFlag_I_EXPAND_BUFFER flag. What I have checked so farUsing breakpoints and the debugger, I verified that no variable (in_data, out_data, output, all of the extent_hint variables) was containing informations about the sequence resolution. The only time where the sequence resolution was visible was within the iterate function, when looking at the x and y coordinates, but I have no idea as

Okay, first time doing a post like this, so please go easy on me everyone. I have been banging my head against this roadblock for the last few days I have multiple lines that need to have a trim effect that comes out from the edge of the screen. They are all of various lengths and angles. What I am after is a way that all the lines emerge at the same speed, so that the shorter ones finish first while the longer ones finish last. Trim path seems to be the way to go, but that only works on a percentage, and I haven't found another way to get this to work. I figure an expression might be the way to go, but nothing I have tried has worked 

Hello people, I'm working on a project where I'd like to incorporate 3D models via Element 3D. In this particular case it's an old tower in the desert. Here's what I did according to what I've learnt in the tutorials I've watched: 1 - I did the 3D tracking and created a solid and a camera. I played with the solid to match the alignment of the ground. I imported the tower model in Element and set the Auxilary Animation on Channel 1. 2 - Back in After Effects I Opened Element's Effect Controls on Group 1 and created a Group Null. 3 - I then copied the 3D tracked solid's position value to that group null, after which you can see the tower significally changes its sizes maybe due to being further away in Z space. 4 - I changed the position and scale values in the Group 1 > Auxilary Channels > Channel 1 to make the tower look natural for the spot I'm trying to place it. In the end when I hit play, You can see the tower sliding off the point where it's sup

Hi, I am creating a countdown timer which has a circle around it. The circle filled as the time goes by.Everything is going great except that as the timer digits change - the numbers aren't aligned in the center of the circle. I don't want to go through every second and adjust manually the position using key frames... I am looking for an expression or other automatic solution for evey second. 

I need to create a template composition with a text box that has both its text content and text styling controlled through two different expressions. Ultimately, I need to make multiple versions of the same comp where both text source and style can be changed with the essential graphics panel. The issue that I'm running into is that the new text expressions seem like they can control either styling or content, but not both - whatever bit of code I write into the expression undoes what I had done previously. For example, if I were to write...text.sourceText.content = "Adjusted Text" text.sourceText.style .setFontSize(thisComp.layer("effectsSliders").effect("FontSize")("Slider")) .setFont("arial") ...then I would get the styling that I want, but I wouldn't be able to change the content. So I have a text animation where the range is animated with 2 keyframes. I want to control the timeline position of each keyframe independently using sliders. Is there an expression for this?
