My TOC creation is set up to create hyperlinks (as is the index). When I create a TOC or Update the book, the Index links work fine but the PDF links for the TOC don't work and Ctrl-Alt clicking on the TOC items in FM gives me an error message (attached). Any ideas on how to fix this?Thanks!   

Since the end of the last week FM-16, FM-15 and Acrobat 2017 required a new sign in, although I did not sign out anywhere. ► Have you encountered similar effects? ► What may be the reason for this behaviour?

I have FrameMaker Version 17.0.1.305.   I can save text changes to XML files.  When I try to scale an image, the image size will change, and I can save and close.   Everything seems fine.  When I re-open the file, however, the scaling changes I made are not there.  It's like I never changed the image size.  I don't understand it.  Please help.  Thanks!

The new Framemaker version seems to have a filter problem with cgm graphics:FM 2022 (17.0.1.305) The previous Framemaker version did a fine job:FM 2020 (16.0.4.1062) What can I do to solve this issue?

Hi Everyone, We using Framemaker 2019 for create documents.On document, The "TS_GTM_REQ12_100" content on the TS is tagging Internal tag (blue color) at the top of the page. However, when hide conditional tag, the content is hidden along with the position of the page break mark being lost. So, section [1.2 Timers and Watchdogs] jump to page 1. How to section [1.2 Timers and Watchdogs] still at page 2 when hide conditional tag (keep Page break)?Best Regard! 

I would like to convert FM2022 files to the FM2020 format. In the FM2022 files none of the new FM2022 features are used. Just good old 2020 wine in a new 2022 bottle. 🙂Is there a workaround? I do have FM2020 on my computer and don't want to upgrade yet. An FM2022 trial version is not an option either.

Does FrameMaker 2022 export bulleted lists to the appropriate HTML tag?  I've tried several different options, and I can only seem to get it to export a <p> tag, instead of nesting an <li> inside an <ol> or <ul> tag.  I thought this was an option somehow?

Hello Everyone, I have a format for a table which the border of the header and the end of the table is bold boder. When i manually input for the table with little row into FM the format is no problem.However, we have some tables that have a lot of rows so inputting each row into FM is a terrible job. I also tried copying the table from excel but that lost the original properties of the table (e.g. table border) So how to inputing the table have a lot of rows into Framemaker while keeping the original format of the table in Framemaker, and at the saving time?

I modify the reference page in order to change the TOC and the Index as I'm used to, but the changes do not apply to the work page. Did anyone else run into this problem? I'm cluelessI am running Version 17.0.1

Hello, I have noticed a strange behaviour of Framemaker, with a structured (.fm) document and a 2 columns text frame layout: when the "balance columns" option is checked (Text Frame Properties > Text Frame > Balance columns) I have a whole section that disapears. The section re-appears when I uncheck the "balance columns" option. Does it look like a genuine bug to you or could it be someting that I am doing wrong ? Thanx in advance ! Best regards Eric

I'm creating a three-volume manual with eight chapters. Many of the chapters have appendices. My page numbering format is as follows:Chapter 1-1, 1-2, 1-3Appendix 1A-1, 1A-2, 1A-3Appendix 1B-1, 1B-2, 1B-3Chapter 2-1, 2-2, 2-3Appendix 2A-1, 2A-2, 2A-3Appendix 2B-1, 2B-2, 2B-3In the index, the chapter page numbers are generateing correctly. In the appendix page numbers, the letters (A, B, C, etc.) are not showing up. Right now, the letters are manually typed in my footers, which I know is not right. Should I be using a variable? Thanks!

I am using FrameMaker 2020 version. When I try to save any file as pdf using the option, File> Save as PDF, the FM window hangs for a few seconds and then closes the entire window. I was able to export sometime back, this started around 15 days back. Currently, I am using a single file in the FM. I have tried reinstalling the software, but that did not help. Hello,  I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me. Is there a physcial book that I can purchase to use as a how-to reference for FrameMaker 2020? I see the online version, yet would like one I can make notes in, etc and have it on my desk as I'm working. I am new to FrameMaker. Thanks! 

Hi, Currently I have all my files on a network drive in separate folders for each version and for each language. Something like this: 950.8000D - 1.0 - 2.0 950.8000E - 1.0 - 2.0 etc. In the version folders I have a graphics folder with all graphics files of the FM files of this version. And when I make more changes, I keep a backup of this draft. With Corona I am 80 % of the week in home office. Therefore I work on a local copy and upload everything to the server in the evening. Now the head of our IT department suggested to keep all my files in Subversion and not on the network drive. (Only suggestion, no pressure yet.) I would not make any difs and I do not plan to use any CMS connector or WebDAV. However, of course I would have a new version each day I touch a file. What's your oppinion? Is this just a massive overhead? Extremely slowly? Or better? Why?   Best regards   Winfried

Hello everyone, How to insert conditional tag for column contain a merge row?In this case, I want to change table 1 into table 2. However. the cell of [Name] row don't hide.   

I'm making PDFs with hyperlinks for the TOC and Index files. The PDFs do not seem to have working links at first. I found another thread where a series of commands/characters were added to the reference pages, and I thought that worked but it didn't. In the mini TOC, the links all work fine. In the main TOC, I got links to "work" but they try to open up a completely different document instead of the same document that they are in. In the index, there are clickable links, but ONLY in the small spaces just before the page numbers, and they also want to go to a different document. What's going on and how can I fix it?

As of now, FrameMaker still ships with a dialogue for creating standard templates. These templates are  somewhat dated and the dialogue can't be modified.- How difficult is it to create a an alternative template chooser? Which works like the existing one more or less? Perhaps made in Robohelp or "something"?

Hello.  I am running FrameMaker 2022.  When the Welcome screen / page displays, it does not contain the default informatin, i.e.: Create a New Doc buttons, demos and white papers, and so on.  Instead, it displays a wierd assortment of info.  I'm attaching a screen shot with this post.  I suspect that I need to tweak a default link or something.  Not sure.  If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.  Thanks, Roy Roy  [This is a public forum. I am using Framemaker with a .MIF file. This file has a lot of custom formatting. Sometimes text is bold, sometimes it is italic ... here is the issue:We have software that creates a .MIF file to use in Framemaker, and that MIF file has a bunch of paragraphs tagged with very specific paragraph tag names.We have a template that has every paragraph tag in these MIF files we export defined.The problem is when there is a paragraph that has the entire content of the paragraph as a specific character override.
