I run a mixed workload of RGB and CMYK documents.  One of the major drawbacks of Illustrator is the functionality of the eyedropper.  It's an RGB elitist and doesn't want to help anyone with CMYK.There I said it...the eyedropper tool is an RGB bigot.  It's the 21st century, c'mon Adobe...fix the tool. 😉

Hi everyone,I’m trying to find out if there's a tool or feature in Adobe Illustrator (or any other Adobe app) that allows you to convert expanded shapes into simple linework or strokes again.Once a shape has been expanded, is there a way to revert it or auto-trace the edges back into editable lines?I’m looking for something that can help clean up or simplify expanded vector graphics—almost like turning fills back into strokes.Any suggestions, tips, or plug-ins that might help?Thanks in advance!

I rotated a group of objects, but the bounding box didn’t rotate with it or automatically reset itself. I have already reset the settings to default in Illustrator, but it didn’t work. I also tried regrouping, but that didn’t work either. I'm really frustrated with this— is there a solution? (1. Image Before) (2. Image After) (3. Image I want to be Like This)   

I have an illustrator file that i can't open but others on my team can. I can open other illlutrator files so it seems specific to this file. I had them resave and I can't open that one either. I created this doc originally, was just opening to make edits, so at one time I could open it. I have the fonts etc. I cannot open the .ai file or the .pdf in illustrator that I created last time I saved. Not sure what the fix is. I get endless beachball, application is not responding etc. I have restarted. I can open other illustrator files so it seems to just be this one right now. 

Hello community members,I have an issue in which when I try to outline this squiggly stroke, it creates way too many points, especially up close. Smooth / simplify do not work for me as they affect the shape too much, without affecting the problem.Is there another way or anything I can do to make this as clean and accurate as possible?

Can not print anything from Illustrator, it just spits out 2 blank pages. Recently moved from a laptop running Windows 10 to a desktop running Windows 11. Didn't encounter this problem on Windows 10 and was able to print directly from illustrator. I can print if I save toPDF and then print but this adds extra steps to printing, especially if I'm just printing a test to look at layout.  Running Adobe 29.5.1Running windows 11 Pro version 23H2 (can't update or I lose access to the company shared storage something with the NAS and SMB and 24H2 not getting along) 

Hello Team,When I create a 3D image and ungroup to make a color change to a particular word or letter, the image is no longer in 3D but 'flat'(for lack of the proper word). How am i able to make changes and revert back to the 3D image? or is there a better way to modify a 3D image to make color changes to a word or letter?see screenshots illustrating the 3d & flat files.   

Is it possible to save custom color swatches in external file? If it is lost retrieve. Because some of my custom color swatches are missing.     

Hi all,I'm working on a packaging design in Illustrator and I need some help figuring out the best way to cut out text from two overlapping shapes that are visually layered but not merged.My setup:A blue background.A bird made of multiple path segments layered on top of the background.The two elements are separate but form a single visual unit.My goal:I want to cut out text from both the background and the bird together, so that the text becomes see-through when printed revealing the paper beneath.The problem:If I use Pathfinder > Unite, the bird and background merge, but it overrides the fill color — I lose the design.Compound Path causes cutouts where I don’t want them — likely due to the way it treats overlaps.Grouping doesn’t help because Pathfinder can’t cut through groups.I’ve also tried wrapping them in a compound shape and even a clipping mask, but can’t get it to act like one cuttable unit that retains color.What I’m asking:Is there a clean way to keep the bird and bac

Acabo de actualizar illustrator en mac, y cuando abro archivos pasado (No dañados) los documentos abren pero desaparecen todos los textos. y no se encuentran en el arte. alguien sabe lo que esta pasando. o es directamente con la mac? Puedo seguir creando y diseñando archivos nuevos ocn textos y funcionan normal  

Cuando deseo utilizar "objetos en trazado" Illustrator se cierra. Varias veces lo he intentado. When I want to use "objects on paths," Illustrator crashes. I've tried this several times.

Hello everyone. I am planning to create various printable designs using Illustrator and sell them on an online site. I don't know if consumers will print these designs with their home printers or somewhere else. Also, consumers may be in very different places like USA, Europe. In this case, which profile should I create the design in (currently Coated FOGRA39) and should I select "high quality print" or "press quality" when exporting the design as a pdf? Or should I create another setting that is specially created as "include all profiles" or something else? I am confused. Should I check "embed icc profile" when exporting this design as a jpeg again?On the other hand, is it unnecessary to send the design directly as a pdf along with the jpeg? I think it can be printed in the desired size this way, and yet, I am planning to send separate sizes in a single pdf, is this unnecessary? In terms of jpeg/pdf, I see that some designers put the jpegs in the pdf, if I understand correctly. W

I have several spot colors saved in my cloud library.  When I share that library with others in the company, those colors are converted to CMYK values and lose the spot color.  Is there something that I need to change in the way I'm saving them? I appreciate your help.

Hi Adobeans,I am looking for a way to assign a custom shortcut to, specifically, the Horizontal Align Center and Vertical Align Center commands in Illustrator CC 2015. I am a production artist and am constantly centering items in my page when I'm working with pre-created art, so this would be hugely helpful, instead of having to move my mouse up to the Align commands in the top of my toolbar and clicking both of those.I managed to assign custom keystrokes to the correlating command in InDesign (Align to Page/Margins, etc.), but cannot seem to find a place to type in custom keystrokes for this in Illustrator. Is it just not a command you can assign shortcuts to? Or is there some workaround?Thanks in advance!

Hello,Since yesterday my laptop is not able to open any Illustrator documents I saved in the Creative Cloud. When I try to open a file, the error message is as follows: "Unable to open "Untitled-1" because it is not found on your device. To recover this document, click Learn More" First of all, the learn more button does not work. I can however open the files on another pc without any problems. I have tried re-installing Illustrator and Creative Cloud, but that did not work. The problem is only with Illustrator docuements, not with other files saved in the Cloud. Since I am able to open the documents on another pc, the problem is likely to be with my laptop, but I have no clue what it could be. Could someone help me with this?

I created a 3D image and saved a copy so I can make a new version that is slightly different from the original one. I select File<New<Place to begin creating the variant version (see image). How do i then make the image editable starting from the same 3D design configurations as the original? I seem to have to start setting the 3D preferences all over again. is their a better approach to accomplishing this then the way i have outlined above?

Hi All, I am trying to delete some old and unused user-defined swatches. I see in other answers to go to " Macintosh HD >> Users >> (YOURUSERNAME) >> Library >> Application Support >> Adobe >> Adobe Illustrator [version number] >> en_US (or other language designation) > Swatches"But when I navigate to my Adobe folder...I don't see Adobe Illustrator in there anywhere (see screenshot). Anyone have any ideas where it could be or am I missing something obvious? I also searched for "Swatches" on my entire HD and none of the folders that came up contain my user-defined swatches (though I did find all of the default swatch libraries). 

Hello everyone,I'd be very happy to get an answer for this: I am unable to release my complex compound path!I've created a divided donut, with many shapes by Alt+clicking on Pathfinder 'Minus front' and now I'm unable to break it down again to singe paths. The Object/Compound path/Release option is greyed out and I also can not Ungroup it (on the third, inner level there's a group of objects).I'd need the shapes back to create shape box for text fields which you can  not make out of compound paths.Thank you for the answers in advance!

Im not sure what button i pressed, but the color from my image was removed in a single click and i am not sure how to fill the colors back again. Ctrl-Z (Undo) did not revert the colors back into the image. the image is currently just an outline.

I have a file with 5 artboards on it. I have work on three of the boards plus in the open space. All of the work dissapeared, but still shows up when the mouse is on a portion of the work. The layers window still shows all the work and it is in color but currently it's all invisible. How do I fix this? I tried to copy and paste is to a new file and it gave me a message of "Cant copy the objects. There isnt enough memory. ID-108"
