I created a clipping mask and now I have a big transparent bounding box around the image. How do I crop out all the extra empty space to just leave the image as my object?

In the new version Illustrator (29.1) always crashes when I try to save several artboards as eps. Now I can only save one or two pages at a time without crashing. This is really tedious with many pages. I hope that the problem will be fixed quickly!

I just can't get it to work.I would like to have the background under my dieline in the outline shapes.Dieline has no padding (this is not possible) so it only has an outline.The following steps don't work:1. Group [Command + G2. Composite path3. Create cutout path 

Hi, idk why but ever since the 2025 update of illustrator whenever i click to fast or in certain spots of the program it will click through the app and select another app behind it. If i remove all apps on that screen it will start glitching and flickering instead. Ive tried installing new graphics drivers, unchecking and cheking gpu performance in the settings and reinstalling twice. 

Hola,Cuando actulizo Illustrator (y supongo que pasará con más aplicaciones) los ajustes de Calco de Imagen que creee pata mi trabajo desaparecen.Es un engorro porque soy ilustrador profesional y vectorizo mucho dibujos hechos en mapa de bits para una marca en concreto que demanda cierta homogeneidad en el trazo, lo colores y el dibujo. Además utilizao diferentes ajustes creados por mí para diferentes clientes. El problema viene cuando actualizo a una versioón más reciente y esta elimina los presets que había creado para este calco de imagen y tengo que volverlos a hacer. ¿hay alguna manera de poder incluir estos presets en la versión nueva del software que actualizo? Muchas gracias! ÀlexMac mini i7 intel core 16GB RAM

Hi. I hope someone can help me. I was working on a logo and when I tried to type something all my fonts were gone except for Myriad Pro. I tried the Character Window and the Type Tab. Nothing. I checked other Adobe programs like Photoshop and my fonts are all there. Does anyone know how to fix this?  CS6 Adobe IllustratorWindows 10 Home

I'm working in a relatively simple Ai file, and it lags unbelievably bad when I'm simply trying to move a simple text layer aroundThere's no special effects applied to the text, it's simply grouped together and isolated so that I'm adjusting only the individual text layers on a map. That Ai file is a measly 2.1 mb, so what's the deal?It's all vector format, not using pixel view, CMYK document, no affect on whether smart guides are on or off. Hi, I know this has been a recurring issue through the years, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I've just put up with it forever, but I'm to the point where I simply can't use the brush and pencil tools to draw in illustrator due to the constant flickering of the cursor.  I'm using the most recent version of Illustrator CC on a Macbook Pro 2022. This happens on when using the mouse as well as using my Cintiq Touch HD 24. Any help would be amazing. I've suffered for too long 😞 C

Hi community. I have a made a custom path, added some text on it. Im trying to mirror the path and the text. so reposition it depending on the distance Ill need.  The problem Im facing is, the text is opposite to the correct left to right, as the words would show. When I mirror, reflect the path with the text. Id like the text to be correctly orientated if possible,    Thank you.  

Hola! Estoy queriendo descubrir por qué cuando arrastro con la herramienta mano mi lienzo, todo se "sacude", o "rebota" mientras me voy desplazando y cuando me detengo queda en su lugar. No sé si es una cuestión de la placa de video, del monitor o qué. Nunca me había pasado, pero resientemente descargué el programa en mi PC (suelo usarlo en mi trabajo) y acá hace este extraño efecto. Ojalá alguien sepa de qué estoy hablando y sepa cual es el motivo, o mejor, cómo solucionarlo. Muchas gracias!

Hey there,I was just wondering if there is a setting that keeps the artboard names visible? Seems rather silly/redundant but I can't figure it out.(I realize they are there in document setup + artboard panel, I am asking if the name can 'stick' to the board in all views) Thanks for your help! 🙂 Ayla

I'm running Illustrator 2023 on a windows machine and I can't get Illustrator to stop doing it's auto-indenting whenever I start a sentence with a number and push space. I had this problem in 2022 as well and I went into the preferences and turned off 'Automatic bulleted and numbered lists while typing', that worked in 2022. But in 2023 it's holding me hostage to it and I literally can't type a number without it autospacing. If I click the numbered list icon after and click the no slash then it removes the number at the begining and only leaves the letters. It's like some kind of cruel joke.    

I used the 'new window' command to work on a file which opened a second window to see the overview of the file while I worked in the first window (both windows tiled). Now, I can't turn off the second window. Each time I open the file, it opens in two windows. How do I revert to one window for the file? I tried shutting down AI and restarting, but it persists. 

Hey there,I have a file (see image below) that has various Call IDs/Mine Calls over individual artboards.  I was hoping there was script to automatically rename the artboards to reflect each individual ID, so that when using the export function, the PDFs (exported as individual pages) are named with the artboard name as a suffix without me having to manually change the artboard name each time.Does anyone have any suggestions?

How would I open and close the Variables panel using JavaScript? Looking at the JavaScript Object Reference, I can't figure it out at all. I thought there might be something like app.panels, but it doesn't seem like there is.

As you can see, I can't reach the "next" tab in the Discover window. How can this be fixed? I already tried switching the UI preferences to large tabs

Illustrator allows for sub-pixel accuracy in artwork and artboard positioning and sizes. To get a clean, precise export for screens, your artboard needs to be aligned to the pixel grid. This means all its edges need to perfectly line up with the pixel grid.Sometimes Illustrator, using Export for Screens, exports an image with an extra pixel row or column, and many consider this to be a bug. However, while it is certainly not desirable behaviour, and could benefit from more intelligent handling, there is sound logic behind it.The root of the problem is when the Artboard Reference Point is set to center. This means the X & Y coordinates are based on the center point of the artboard.Consequently, when the width or height of your artboard is an odd number, the edges of the artboard are pushed off the pixel grid, and end up in between pixels. Illustrator then tries to compensate for this during export and ends up adding an extra pixel.Example:Artboard width: 99 px, X postion: 0The left

I deal with line art drawings exported from Seimens NX cad software on a daily basis. In order to select the various views on the page, I need to release a clipping mask that is added upon export. I have always done a select all, right click, select ungroup from the popup options, then right click and select release clipping mask from popup options. After updating to illustrator 28.7.1 last week, the option to release clipping masks is gone. Where did it go and how can I get it back? Hola, alguien de ustedes tambien tienen ese problema de Ilustraitor 2024, que se blouqea?, no aparece q no responda sino que no me deja hacer nada , y me forza a reiniciar o forzar salida y pierdo mis datos, por favor ayuda!, solo quiero saber si a alguien le pasa lo mismo y que hizo para solucionarlo  

Title says it all, but to clarify: When saving an SVG from Illustrator, I would like to store the extra options as defaults. I'm talking about the options in the image below and especially the amount of decimals.  Too often I forget to change the number of decimals when saving. Especially when "more options" is not displayed by default so it is very easy to look over it. My icon illustrations then get stored with distorted borders and ugly whitespace between some objects. They become pretty much unusable. Can I store my settings as default so whenever I save an SVG, these settings will automatically apply and illustrations will always get saved correctly? Many thanks in advance!

I have a logo I've been working on with lots of layers, and sub-layers and now I would like to collapse or 'flatten' everything into one layer for use as a logo without the encumbrance of the many layers it took to make this artwork. I've tried 'flatten' but that still keeps the layers and sub-layers. I'm not sure what else to try. I want what is on top to appear and layers below to be sandwiched down so everything looks like it is on the screen. In Photoshop, I would just flatten and get the result I am looking for on one layer, but in Illustrator, it's not cooperating the way I would like it to. I have converted all type to paths, so that is done.Where do I go from here to get the 'flattened' file I am after?TIA,Ken

I exported a frame from figma to svg. Then converted to AI. I created a circle with desired hex value and text with the same value. Then I copied over a text from the svg. All those object shared the same colour value. When imported into AE the colour is visibly different. However when I eyedrop the colour from the circle it changes in AE even though the value in illustrator remains the same.  The video shows what I mean  Any ideas as to why this might be happening? The document is in RGB mode. AE is in 8 bits sRGB. No funny business (other frames export fine from figma). 

I am trying to setup the Connect plugin for Illustrator but for the life of me cannot get past the plug in issue warning that keeps popping up (image attached). I have uninstalled both apps and reinstalled with the latest versions, upated my computer and made sure everything is compatible.   I'm currently running macOS Sonoma 14.5, Illustrator 2024 v.28.5, and Connect V1.7.791. I've also attached pictures of the installation process of Connect which says its successfully installed?
