I'm creating some vinyl graphics for a wall - basically a collage of a load of tour posters. There are 72 in all, totalling 2.5GB. They're all linked rather than embedded.When opening or saving, Illustrator locks up for about 4-5 minutes. Autosaving locks it up for a minute or so. Why is this? The specs of the machine are:Illustrator CC 2019Windows 10 ver 1803 build 17134.345 (64-bit)Intel i7-6700K @ 4GHz (4C 8T)64GB RAM2x Samsung 960 EVO M.2 SSDs (I'm using two swap files, one on each of these, and I'm working off the D drive here rather than the network)GeForce GTX 980 GPUAfter Effects happily uses 40+GB of memory and sails along without a hiccup. But Illo doesn't seem to use more than a few GB - in fact it's often using less than Firefox. I've been through this page (Improve Illustrator performance on Windows) and followed the steps on it, without much improvement.Is there any way I can get it to save everything more quickly? Hi, I've just started using macbook instead of windows. On PC I've added some fonts in adobe fonts and I was using them without any problems. I've intalled ai on my macbook and fonts doesn't work. They are also added to my adobe fonts and I can search them in illustrator but they don't work. What can I do in this situation. Are there fonts on windows devices that don't match with OS devices?

Ich habe etwa 10 Jahre nicht mehr mit Illustrator gearbeitet und war auch damals eher auf dem Anfängerlevel und taste mich jetzt wieder neu ran. Folgendes Problem: Ich habe vor vielen Jahren mal ein Bild mit Illustrator abgepaust und teils auch ausgemalt. Damals in EPS gespeichert, jetzt in AI umgewandelt. Nun wollte ich selbiges um zusätzliche Ausmalflächen erweitern und kriege es nicht hin. Erst meinte ich, dass das nicht klappt, weil die Flächen von separaten Pfaden umgeben sind und habe die Pfade per Pathfinder miteinander verbunden. Auf einmal klappte es auch mit dem interaktiven Malen, aber nur in einer Figur. In der anderen Figur kann ich den Pfad, der die zu colorierende Fläche umgibt, anklicken, dann klicke ich auf STRG+ALT+X (Windows) für interaktives Malen erstellen und dann passiert gar nichts (= Methode, die in der anderen Figur in der gleichen Datei geklappt hat). Why color in illustrator is different in coor preview box and object on artboard?

The orange box is a cut line. I initially add the box around the text manually and but it took me so much time to change the size of the box if I want to increase the font size. I followed the steps from this post (https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/19824/illustrator-auto-sized-text-box-with-shaded-background), but the text became transparent when I selected Effect > Convert to shape > Rectangle. I don't know how to keep the text in black with the orange box around at the same time. I would like to keep the height in 0.35cm and the width should be the length of the text + 0.25cm. Does anyone know how to create an auto-sized rectangle around the text box :(? 

I have a problem with the blue line of a selected object. When I select it, it is visible, but when I hold it or try to drag it, it disappears. It is especially annoying when setting white objects on a white background, where nothing is visible and even the guide lines do not help much.

So Illustrator is suddenly measuring the size of the drop shadow on my shape instead of the path of the shape.  It wasn't doing this previously so something has changed in preferences somehow or an update? Can someone help please?

Hey guys,I'm having trouble with exporting files for sublimation printing. I've been using PDF and EPS, but I've noticed that occasionally, one out of every 100 designs exported to these formats would have printing issues. I switched to JPG, which resolved the problem, but JPG has limitations for large-scale prints due to its compression.I'm looking for a more reliable format for exporting my designs. Can anyone suggest a better alternative to PDF or EPS that can handle large files without sacrificing quality? I'm curious if others have encountered similar issues and found a solution.

Not sure what to do. It was working fine but I have added a lot of elements to a pattern and it spins for a long time each time I click on anything.when I bought it a year ago it said my system was compatible. Perhaps it really isnt?This is my system.   Does it not meet requirements of Adobe Illustrator?  Thanks

Hello, my computer crashes when I use the Outline View command, whether Crtl + Y or E. These are its settings: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor 3.40 GHz When I close Illustrator, it shows the outilne, as if it had crashed. Can anyone help me? I am opening a file in Illustrator with dimensions of 600x600 px and 300 dpi. In Effect -> Document Raster Effect Settings, it shows 300 dpi. The Document Page Setup also indicates high resolution. When I export as a JPG at 300 dpi without adding any images or text, the resulting JPG has a width of 2500 pixels and a height of 2500 pixels. However, my file is 600 pixels. How can I resolve this? I want it to remain 600 pixels during export. My computer is a MacBook Pro running macOS Sonoma 14.6.1.

I have a script that loops through items on the page, then depending if they are a textFrame or a pathItem calls a seperate function. All seems to work well whilst I'm in the ExtendScript Toolkit environment, but when I put the script into illustrator and run it directly I get the following error. Hola! Me gustaría saber como solucionar que cuando abro una imagen de, por ejemplo, 1080x1080px illustrator la reduce considerablemente, antes no solia pasar esto. Quisiera que abriera las imagenes en su tamaño real ¿Alguien sabe como puedo arreglarlo? Gracias.

Liebe User, ich habe das Problem, dass die Grafiken, welche ich in Illustrator erstelle nicht scharf ausgedruckt werden. Wenn ich jedoch testweise eine Textfeld eröffne, etwas schreibe und dies Ausdrucke, ist die Schrift gestochen scharf.Ein generelles Problem ist es also nicht. Es muss irgendeine Einstellung geben, welche ich übersehe oder nicht kenne.Anfänglich war der Unterschied zwischen eigener Grafik und geschriebenem Text noch stärker. Ich habe inzwischen viele Einstellungen zum Positiven verändert. Jedoch ist der Unterschied immer noch zu sehen. Drucken tue ich im eps.- oder pdf-Format. Was muss ich einstellen, damit meine gezeichnete Grafik gestochen scharf (wie die Schrift) ausgedruckt wird? Ich habe einen Canon-LBP 633.Die Grafik von der ich spreche ist eine selbstgezeichnete Schrift.Ich hoffe, dass ihr mir helfen könnt. Liebe Grüße

In the document, the origin of coordinates corresponds to the upper left border of the artboard. That is, the coordinates increase vertically downwards and horizontally to the right. But when I place text in the specified coordinates, for example: textFrame.position = [100, 100];then the placed object has completely different coordinates than those I specified.How can I fix this?

Is there any script that can distribute various objects that will be printed to maximize space and have less waste? This is usually done in sewing software like Optitex which has a part for laying out the pieces but it's not in my budget to pay for another subscription.

Hallo zusammen, ich drucke mit dem Canon LBP633cdw meine Zeichnungen aus dem Illustrator aus. Ich erstelle hauptsächlich Decals.Als Zusatz habe ich mir den weißen Toner von Ghost gekauft. Mein Problem ist, dass die Farben nach dem Druck viel zu transparent sind. Beispiel:Blau wird auf einem roten Untergrund zu schwarz. Nun ist es ja so, dass ich den weißen Toner besitze. Ich habe gehört, dass man über Illustrator dafür sorgen kann, dass man die Zeichnungen mit Weiß unterlegen kann, damit die Farben sich auf dunklen Untergründen nicht verändern. Egal was ich tue, es klappt nicht. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich das genau anstellen muss? Wichtig: Ich nutze Rub-On-Decals, weshalb der gesamte Druck immer spiegelverkehrt sein muss.  Liebe Grüße und vielen Dank im Voraus  

Can you please work on adding to the Global Edit feature so that you can global edit LIVE text so that you don't need to change the text to an outline object.This feature would be a game changer in the sense that I could work faster! I wouldn't need to select each text box on every artboard to edit.An example where I would use this gobal live text edit is for my tech pack pages. A style number is written on every artboard. I would then be able to make updates to the text box on just one page opposed to multiple pages.Thank you!
