Questions

Among other huge issues with basic functiuonality like the pencil/smooth tool, Illustrator 2025 also has a glitch when creating artboards. This is my third occasion since updating where it creates a duplicate artboard 14 and artboard 13 is unable to defined. Voting this as the worst Illustrator update to date. Hope you guys can figure it out cuz this is a bummer!

Hi! I have an issue as sometimes, when I select some imported objects, my canvas becomes tinted in red. I think it may be due to color profiles and I don't know how to solve it. Any idea? Best regards, Yuri

I am quite a beginner with Illustrator. I have drawn straight and curved lines, but now my pen tool has a small asterisk and I cannot draw normal curves any more. What is this asterisk (kind of a small star), and how can I get it away?[Spelling changed from asterix (sic) to asterisk by moderator for international translation purposes.]

Hello everyone !I have some issues lately with my illustrator ...Today, my blending mode options aren't available, and I do not understand why.I selected 2 shapes in different colors to create a gradient, but when I click on Object > Blend, all the options are light grey, and I cannot select anything.Unfortunately, this is far from the only option that's not working ...All the Effects aren't available, and most of the options on Object tooI haven't checked everything, but I have the feeling that so many options aren't working anymore.Pls help !!Thank you do much !!

MAX Feedback - develop an educational assistant (similar to clippy from MS word) that suggests alternative worfklows for students. For example, "there's a better tool to do this. Try using X instead!" Another help is to enable teachers to prompt an assignment, and Adobe guide students in completing the assisgnment-Jayce G.

Illustrator has been increasingly glitchy for a few months now. When working on files, images will randomly turn black or disappear - the image is still clearly there as it highlights blue when I hover my cursor over it, but the photo or graphic will not show up. It usually comes back briefly if I save, close, quit Ai, and reopen, but shortly it will happen again. I am using MacOS Sonoma 14.1.2 with the most updated 2024 version of Illustrator. All my images are .jpg or .png in RGB stored on an external hard drive. I store the images in their proper folders before importing them into the Ai file, so they aren't missing or unlocated. I have noticed it doesn't happen as frequently when I save the project file on Adobe Cloud and work from there, but that doesn't solve my problem completely - still have disappearing images.  Please help! My workflow is so interrupted by having to close and quit the program every 10 minutes! 

I honestly can’t believe Adobe removed or broke the Command + Option + drag shortcut to resize the brush. This gesture has been part of the workflow for years — it’s fast, intuitive, and essential for anyone who actually works with these tools daily.Now it’s gone or simply doesn’t respond after the latest update, and it completely slows down professional work. We pay for a premium subscription, not to lose the basic tools that made the software efficient.Please bring back the Command + Option shortcut or give us a clear way to re-enable it. Don’t fix what isn’t broken — this shortcut is muscle memory for thousands of users.

Our Illustrator crashes with just a few artboards. We are also experiencing slowness with the Gaussian blur. Danielle Able

Is there some way (script / plugin?) to auto nest objects on page?In other words, to place all objects as tight as possible to eachother.

When using Smart Guides and attempting to make a Duplicate that is constrained to an axis with Smart Guides the object will glitch in and out visually and the duplicate will not create.  Turning off Smart Guides will allow this much used fuction to work. 

Good intentions but a terrible nisleading option for prepress Quality control.Please turn this new "feature" off, or give user the option to do so.Sources of missing fonts are hard enough to track. At least keep it highlighted in pink as in older versions so it has some sort of visual flag. Studio Users are not happy... maybe its a BUG?!Please fix!

Hi, I'm having trouble that just randomly started yesterday (10/24). Every time I try to save an .aic file (from creative cloud) to my local drive as an AI file, Illustrator crashes. I can save to the Creative Cloud, and I can export As png, but I can't save to .ai. This happens with any of my current cloud files, but doesn't seem to happen with any similar local files in either pdf or ai format.  It first started randomly on 10/24/25 while using an previous version of illustrator ( I think 29.7). I updated the software to Illustrator 29.8.2 and had the same results while using Mac os15.6. Next I updated to Mac os 15.7.1. Same results. So then I updated to Mac OS Tahoe... and still can't make it work. I've tried uninstalling Illustrator, repairing the Creative Cloud app software, restarting computer, re-setting preferences... I'm at a loss for what to try next.   

I have five images, each of which requires a separate artboard. I select the Artboard Tool, and click each image to create the individual artboards. Artboards 1, 2, and 3 appear without issue. When I click on the fourth image, I get Artboard 5, when it should be Artboard 4. Clicking on the fifth image, I get another Artboard 5. As a test, I created several more artboards, and get similar issues with missing and duplicate artboards. For example, 13 is missing but there are two 14's.I tried copying and pasting my artwork in a new file, but keep experiencing the same issue.Does anyone know what is happening here?

I relink files in Illustrator pretty much every day all day long. Does anyone know if it is possible to set up a keyboard shortcut to relink files instead of constantly having to use the dropdown in the links panel? It would save me a TON of time. Haven't been able to figure out a way to do it or find any reference to it anywhere online. Thanks much.

I’m trying to automate some production steps in IllustratorMy script uses:app.doScript(ACTION_NAME, ACTION_SET_NAME)to trigger pathfinder and offset actions. When I run it manually (File -> Scripts -> My Script) it works perfectly.However, when I make an Action that runs this script, Illustrator freezes as soon as it reaches any app.doScript() call.I understand that Illustrator Actions and scripts run in different execution threads, and it seems like running an Action that runs a script that runs an Action causes a standstill.I’ve tried alternatives like:app.executeMenuCommand("OffsetPath") //OR app.executeMenuCommand("Live Offset Path") //Then using expandStyle()but these don’t allow me to apply predefined offset settings automatically, so using an Action is still the only consistent and accurate approach so far. I've also tried using effects and even then that has shown unsuccessful results.Ideally, I’d like to give my script its own keyboard shortcut so I can run it direc

I keep having a weird issue with the text in illustrator. It doesn't matter if the text was copied and pasted or if I type it in, the same issue still happens. The kerning will oddly adjust itself while I am typing,  formatting the text, or moving the text box with the selection tool. I have tried turning on and off several Character panel features and using a new document, but the issue seems to keep happening. I'm not sure if I have some weird setting turned on or if this is just a bug needing to be fixed. This presents quite an issue while trying to format text in paragraphs as the text will adjust the kerning itself as I am formatting or moving the text box around with the selection tool.I am running on the most current version of Illustrator CC. Any help or advice would be appreciated as this is very frustrating and I can't get it to stop!

As seen in the screenshots below, when I re-opening a  file the links are broken with a missing letter in the file extension. e.g. "jp" instead of "jpg" and "ti" instead of "tif". When re-linked the assets display at 100% scale instead of retaining their scaled down size in the document. Has anyone else experience this issue and know how to resolve it? 

HI,I believe I've found a bug in the 2025 and 2026 releases when working in a film & video preset and importing into After Effects.I'm seeing that when importing in to any recent version of After Effects the Illustrator files are being imported with dupicate empty layers. Is not an issue with 2024 release of Ai. I've made a video showing what is happening and a workaround. But the idea is to not have to do this silly workaround when past releases this wan't an issue.Thanks!Andy

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to enable the contextual alternates for Mazurquica Variable https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/mazurquica-variable as it looks great with the ligatures but they are not available in illustrator when i try to use the font. I have tried going through opentype, nothing works...ThanksJ 

In the latest versions of Illustrator the SVG export function is inaccurate and adding artefacts to most paths. This is most evident in outlined fonts.This is a major issue because we can’t currently use the 'Save as SVG' feature to generate SVG files.However, copying the artwork and pasting it into an application like Figma works fine.

Hey everyone,After the latest Illustrator update, I started noticing that when I take screenshots to send previews to clients, there’s now this gray text showing the artboard name (like “01 - Artboard 1”) appearing at the top of my workspace.The problem is — this label now overlaps important information on my canvas, such as the printed size (for example “2.1x3.6m” in my design). It wasn’t there before, and now it makes my screenshots look messy when I just want to capture the artboard preview for client confirmation.I already checked under View menu but there’s no option like “Show/Hide Artboard Names”.Does anyone know how to completely hide that artboard name label?I really hope Adobe adds a toggle back for this. It’s such a small thing but super annoying when sending previews to clients! &#x1f605Thanks in advance for any tips or hidden settings that might fix this!

Illustrator has this annoying bug where it adds 1 pixel to an exported JPEG or PNG if the artboard it originates from has got a decimal value in its position. This is very frustrating for someone that pays for these programs and requires precision. Is there an easy way to remove the decimals without always having to click on each artboard and check? It is appalling.
