Our team is new to InCopy. We had successfully done a couple rounds of editing and sent the proof to our copyeditor, who is on a PC. She was having problems accessing the file with all of its fonts (even though everything had been working fine before). When our designer went to fix it, he found that all his assignments appeared to have been deleted as well as all of his images. He had to go searching for images, and in one case, recreate the image.We are trying to figure out what might have caused this to happen. No one intentionally deleted anything. We keep our files on dropbox, however we've been careful to always check files in when done with them. The files have not been moved around, but kept in this one location. We asked another team for help understanding why this happened. They claimed that they have never had the problem and maybe it's because we have chosen to have our process be to open the InDesign file in InCopy and open assignments from there, rather than open

Good morning! After repeated attempts to open InCopy files on my computer, I’m asking you for your help. My colleague is on Mac. I am on PC. He designs projects in InDesign, then places the files in InCopy for me to edit. On a couple of projects, when he loads to InCopy, he can see the files, but I can’t (see attached). Shows up as a blank screen. He was able to fix the problem one time by Unlinking project from InCopy, deleting it and reassigning it, and it worked. He tried it again with recent project and it didn’t work. We are both working in the same versions of InDesign/InCopy (version 16.1). I have tried refreshing/updating ...everything I can think of. No luck. Please help. This software is essential to our production process.

Hi, Suddenly I can't save icap files as idap files. I was working with an icap and when I went to save it as an idap, it saved as a PDF instead. I tried saving a few other icaps as idaps and it saved as PDFs instead. I don't know what happened. Has this happened to anyone else? It looks like InCopy updated today so maybe that's having an impact?? Thanks for any input.

Hi there, community! I've downloaded a fun font with loads of glyphs with alternate letters, to make a nice logo. I can SEE the glyph alternates in the panel, but when I double click on them, either nothing happens or the 'normal' letter is pasted in text. The default language is Dutch, but I have set the text preferences to US English. So that shouldn't be the problem...  Really appreciate your help! Kind regards, Irene

Support Team,I am looking for Incopy version 16.01 system requirement document and cant find it. Is Incopy and InDesign have the same reuirement? 

I have to edit a document that is housed on a company server. Multiple times this week, InCopy has crashed randomly while I'm in the middle of writing a note. If I open the same document from within InDesign, it shows that my InCopy persona still has the assignment checked out (the one I was working on at the time of the crash), so it can't be worked on within InDesign. But when I open the file in InCopy again (which takes ages), my work isn't always saved. It's hellish spending lots of time writing complicated explanations of grammatical changes, only to have them suddenly wiped out during an arbitrary crash. I'm using the latest version of InCopy (16.1). Does anyone know what is going on?

Is there a way to create a table of contents in InCopy CS6 without using InDesign? I know that InCopy is typically used together with InDesign, but I try to use it on its own, as a more powerful replacement for Word. Thanks.

Hello.I have a few questions for a cloud-based workflow: 1. Is Creative-Cloud Files a good option for a cloud-based-workflow? 2. Can multiple users check-out a story at the same time? If so, how can this be avoided? 3. What happens when a user is changing a story (while being offline) and in the meantime another user makes changes in the same story? What happens if both of them sync again? Thank you.

When I type text into a note, this text is shown backwards. Does anyone know how I can solve this so that the text is shown normally again? 

I have multiple people editing the same InCopy file with all different user colours. I see everyone as the same colour and name when edits are highlighted in tracking. The edits appear as my name and colour when another user makes the change. I am the only user having this issue, everyone can see different users and colours. 

Hello! Sometimes, maybe half of the time, whenever I save my progress while working in InCopy, it will just jump back to the very beginning and I have to scroll back down and find where I was working. This is a little tedious after awhile and I cannot find anything online about why it would do this or if anyone else has the same issue? Is there anything that I can do in the settings to keep this from happening? Thank you for any help. Linds

Hello everyone, I have some issues with InCopy and InDesign. The editors use the InCopy to wirte their texts and therefore send them back to me as .idap as to open them on InDesign and finish the magazine I am designing. I have some issues though when I am trying to open the idap a message pops up on InDesign saying that the Selected package file requires an indesign document that cannot be found. how do you want to continue? I have two options: browse or ignore. I proceed with browse, i found the missing package and then I get another error message saying: The story bla bla bla.icml in the package file is no longer part of the assignment. how do you want to continue?   Ignore or save?I've tried both ingore or save and still i get no results. I get a blank page.What have happened? Did the user on InCopy not packaged the icap? Or what?I need your help ASAP!Thank you!

Hi, just wanted to confirm you can't export from Incopy as a .doc document? E.g. word?Either plain text, either pdf?

I have some problems with Incopy. After a few seconds Incopy shows an error "massiv problems from the software" and then quit the software. I made all updates and it doesn´t work 😞ThanksAlex

Hi all, we're having an InCopy (and InDesign too) issue. We work on a server and save all of our files to that server. Recently, one of our editors finished editing a file and when the second editor went to open it, the file had reverted back to a previous version, resulting in a lot of work lost. This has happened before and has happened with InDesign Assignment files. Any idea what might be the case? Server issue? Incopy issue? We're all on the most recent version of InCopy (16.0.1).  We're at a loss and a lot of time has been wasted trying to recover or redo the work. 

Hi guys,I have never used the assignment option in InDesing and not familer with it. I don't know what I did but suddenly I see that every new document I create is open with an assignment I can't delete. It all started when I was trying see how notes option works in a certain doement, I really don't know what I did but I would like to remove it and the delete option is grayed out...I wold like to turn this option off, or to remvoe this Unknown user, and don't knwo what to do. Can somone help me please? I'm using the latest InDesign version 16.1 on a mac OS 10.14.6 Thank you,shlomit

I work for a marketing agency and was looking to implement InCopy into our workflow as the thought of creating a single copy doc to share between not only copywriter, designer and proofing but also the multiple layout interations we create (posters, shelf talks, flyers, etc.) is incredibly alluring. It's as close to "smart copy" that I've seen to date and would save designers hours of work over the length of a job's life. However, while I have learned how to edit type styles to allow the type to change on the fly the one thing that's preventing me from implementing InCopy's addition is how it doesn't allow custom paragraph rags between shared documents. If there was a way to allow InDesign to track uniqe paragraph breaks per document I think that'd do the trick—but obviously I'm not a software engineer. If someone's thought of a workaround for this issue, I'd love to hear about it! Ich möchte einem Kundenaufgabenblätter mit Fragen und interaktiven Textfeldern in InCopy zu Verfügung stellen. Der Kunde soll Texte ändern können und aus InCopy PDFe generieren können, die dann immer noch ausfüllbare Bereiche besitzen. Direkt aus InDesign ist das kein Problem, aber ich schaffe es nicht, Schaltflächen und Formulare in InCopy beizubehalten. Die können nicht in das Aufgabenfeld gezogen werden. Angeblich kann man docInteraktive Inhalte auch in InCopy nutzen ... oder nicht?

I got an ICMA and several hundred ML files from a translator who said she wasn't able to check in any of the ML files from within the Assignment panel. I was able to check in two but only by opening them by themselves, but we're unable to do it when the ICMA file is open in InCopy. The option to Check in or Check In All is grey out. Anyone know why this would happen?  

We are having issues with InCopy files corrupting and not opening on either InCopy 2020 or InDesign 2020. We have tried various solutions posted to these boards, and tried to use textedit to pull out the content of the files to no avail. Does anyone know where we can send documents to, to see if the files can potentially be saved?  Thanks

This would involve 50-60 page proposals, tight deadlines, multiple and heavy revisions on content, last minute changes, etc. The organization would like for the Proposal Writers to be able to edit content from their end and have the changes be reflected in the InDesign file which i would manage. On paper InCopy looks great but just wondering from a real-world standpoint if this is the way to go. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
