Hi everyone, I’m working on a multi-page document in InDesign and I’d like to streamline my workflow. Is there a quick way to create a master page with consistent elements like headers, footers, and page numbers and apply it across the entire document at once, instead of manually adjusting each page?

Since I updated to CC2019 I can only Undo three steps.Is there anything I can tweak or is another bug from CC2019?I think I'm gonna use CC2018 till you fix this mess...

Hi all! I am trying to restore a file from an old floppy via an external floppy drive. I've spent a couple of hours trying to do something simple. I have a set of documents in an Indb file. All are set to 'Automatic Page Numbering'. I wish to have the numbering start at Page 1 in the Front Matter doc and then continue through to Chapter 1 and so on. But it starts at Page 1 in both the Front Matter and Chapter 1 docs. I want Chapter 1 to continue as a Page 7. How do I get the numbering to start at the first doc and continue through? I thought 'Automatic Page Numbering' would do this? Thanks if you can help

I've come across a specific issue with a placed image in InDesign and I'm wondering if there are any export setings that would fix this issue? An image of the issue is attached—the whole document is in CMYK and this placed picture is a PDF. The white box showing up in the middle of this logo only shows up in InDesign, I've opened the file in Illustrator and it seems to be perfectly fine there.I've also checked the Overprint Preview, and the box does disappear with that preview on, but still prints with the white box. I'd love to try any PDF/InDesign settings to see if they help. Thank you! 

This happened 3 times in the past 2 days. InDesign just freezes when I try to navigate to the Margins & Columns menu. It does not always do that seems to just happen when I navigate to the menu too quickly(?) Meaning, click on Layout and then quickly after clicking on Margins and Columns. Seems kinda weird, but I found an older Post from 2018 which describes a similiar problem, so it seems to be a thing.

Suddenly I'm getting an error when trying to open a shared XD document.  I keep getting the "Editing isn't supported on shared XD documents when disconnected from Creative Cloud" error.  But I'm NOT disconnected from Creative Cloud. This is incredible frustrating. I'm continually having to log out of Creative Cloud. Restart. Log back in, and relaunch CC.  And sometimes that still doesn't fix the issue! 

I have a document with a couple of hidden spreads. The page numbering seems to respect the hidden spreads in that it skips those pages in the numbering. This makes sense. But when I create a table of contents, it seems to insert the page numbers as if the hidden spreads were not hidden.  You will see in my attached images that the page numbers on the bottom left shows page 16 on spread 20-21. This makes sense given that spreads 16-19 are hidden. When I create the TOC it does not do this. It treats page 16 as 20. Is this normal functionality? I sent this to a client and it was wrong. I should have double checked, but still, not good.Is this a bug or a feature?

Hi there Can someone please help me to encounter this issue and solution for this issue. We have a Amazon S3 cloud storage server called Wasabi and our designers are using InDesign. They do all their works from server rather than doing locally. But, we got this error recently and it's recurring. The Indesign is up-to-date and we are using Cloudmounter to connect to Wasabi and the server is not down neither the internet connection is. So, what might be the actual cause of this issue and solution for this issue?Much Appreciated for your helpThanksSK     

Hi everyone, Suddenly this morning, my InDesign 19.5.5 (the most updated version I can use on my Mac Big Sur operating system) stopped working. Specifically, the app can open. I can even create a new file and save it. But when I try to open any file (including a tiny file I created and saved and closed) it gives me the spinning rainbow wheel and freeze-crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign 19.5.5 in Creative Cloud, and restarted the computer, but nothing seems to work. Please help!! I've wasted 4 hours of my work day on this.... 😞

Hello!I have a client who sent me an InDesign file with all the Endnotes at the end and they would like them separated by section. Is it possible to take an existing Indesign file with all the endnotes at the end of document and break them up so they are at the end of each section AND the numbering starts over at the beginning of each section?

I asked in another post about uncompiling a binary javascript and was informed not to go down that path...OK. I accept that. I have found a way to add the fuctionality that i need. I think using grep. But i know more about Quantem mechanics than i know about GREP so i am going to need help here also.here it is:Search for any text formatted with par style "sty1". this string we will call (for now) "txt1"replace that string with "I love to eat" && txt1Format that entire string with par style "sty2"Format the last word of the new string as bold. Can this be done? I am so appreciative to those who help me here! SF

I feel quite guilty about asking for help with this.  I know that the noble members of this form are not here to do work for me.  But I'm really stuck and ChatGPT just can't cut it.  In my line of expertise (life coaching)  I give a lot of my time away for others. What I would like to do is alter that it should loop through **the entire document** and execute the same for any text box that has a text overflow. The insertion text in the new text box should not be altered. Hi, I'd like to ask for help solving a problem. I received the files for repair. Unfortunately, they are corrupted. I can open them, but I can't work with them. Copying elements or even deleting the character style causes the application to crash. Even deleting all elements in the publication doesn't change the situation. Deleting the character style causes the crash. Attempting to save to *.idml is also impossible. Has anyone found a way to fix this? 

Hi there ... I am trying to resize a 24 page document just a little bit smaller. I'm using the current Indesign CC. There is one master page with not much on it. Anyway, when I try to resize the layout in Document Setup, it keeps failing because of an error. And, it says "object is locked" and a page goes blank, but there are no objects locked on the spreads. Any ideas? Thank you!

I recently updated Adobe InDesign to the latest version (20.4.1), and since the update, most of the dropdown menus in the application are not functioning properly. When I click on a dropdown, it either freezes or doesn't respond at all.This issue is significantly impacting my workflow. I’ve already tried restarting the application and my system, but the problem persists.Could you please suggest a fix or let me know if this is a known issue in the latest version?

Good Morning 🙂Sometimes it's easier to ask here than to search all over for an answer especially when the search options in adobe discussions is so poor and I always prefer to hear your thoughts about it. My favorite and so far always and forever font manager application was the discontinued FontExplorer. I moved to Extensis Suitcase Fusion even before FontExplorer was discontinued, when it started to have various problems and I didn't have time to deal with it. I never liked the way Extensis Suitcase was handling things but I could live with it. But now I can't. Now they took away the option to keep the font linked to a folder on the desktop (I always unchecked "copy to vaults" option as I hated the vault and wanted to "Reveal Font in Finder" when needed) and "forced" me to use the vault and to store on the cloud.  I do believe this option should be mine to decide. I did wrote to them about it hoping other will too and that will bring this option

I do the layout for a scholarly, weekly newsletter, and sometimes the schedule is very tight. The NL, for printing purposes, has to be exactly 4 pages. But sometimes, alas, it comes out a little longer, which will not fly. So I go back and tighten here and tighten there, and decrease font size and leading here and there. Very tedious. Is there a tool that could do this automatically, where i input the page number and boooom it does it magically while adjusting important things only minimally. There is a function in MS Word similar so I guess it is possible.Thank you, and have a good day!Susan Flamingo

I would like to automatically command all of my text boxes to align to the page margins as set up in the page masters. My book has 750 pages, so I do not want to do this manually. See screesnshot. Thank you.

I have a graph that is generated through datylon studio web directly (not the plugin). The graph is then dowloaded as an SVG from datylon. (done this way because graph is used in multiple places).When I add the SVG to InDesign, there is a weird issue where some text is getting bold. It's random on every placement, including copying and pasting the element within InDesign itself. You can see in this screenshot how there are bolded sections of font (yes, it's a mess, it's just to illustrate the point of placing the same SVG multiple times within a document is yielding different font results).This is also present when exporting, so it's not just a rendering issue when looking at it in InDesign. SVG looks fine in browsers, as well as Illustrator.I have run out of ideas on what to edit within the SVG, or if I'm doing something wrong when placing it into the InDesign document, in order to have the text display consistent according to what's defined within the SVG.
