Questions

I have a multipage document with many .598 strokes/rules. I want to change them all to .5. I tried using Find/Change Object but keep getting a "Cannot find match" message.I tried it with a full description of the strokes (color, type, weight, etc.), and then with just narrowing it down to the stroke weight. Nothing is locked or in alternate layers. The attached screen shots show my current attempt. Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks,Laura

Hi,I should use InDesign on both a Mac with Intel processor and the Monterey operating system, and a Mac with M4 processor and the Sequoia operating system.Is there a version of ID working on both? Or, may I use different versions of ID on the two machines?Thanx! 

I'm designing a book and can not share screenshots of the specific images but InDesign is repeatedly moving just two specific images to the right about a quarter of an inch. Both images are on the left hand page, and align-right with the gutter/page edge. I have never experienced this before and I've been designing books for over 15 years with InDesign. I place them, save the document, and then later when scrolling past, I see they have moved again. I've resaved the images as new files and replaced them, and those same images move to the right again. I noted the X value for the placement of the image, and it still says the same value in the wrong and correct placement, which is insane.  Unrelated or maybe related, there are often visual glitches in InDesign that only started happening in the last few versions. In Illustrator, I'm able to increase/decrease text size, opacity, leading, tracking, etc. in increments of 10, 1 and even 0,1 by pressing ctrl or shift and using the mouse wheel. However I can't seem to find a way to do this in Indesign, so I have to manually put the number in the box, making it time consuming. 

Hi! I have an unfilled rectangle with a dashed line border (3 and 2). I actually have several of them, all with a stroke weight of 1, but some of them are disappearing in the pdf after I export (even though I can see them in indesign). all of the ones that are disappearing also are showing these lines next to 0 pt and 1pt that I can't figure out how to change? Haven't been able to find the right keywords to figure out a solution online. I'm not sure what I did to set it up this way? Thank you!

I've already set my Basic Paragragh style from Minion Pro to my preferred font (by selecting my preferred font — with no document open — in the Character window and by modifying my Basic Paragraph style in the Paragraph Style window). This works great for opening new documents. My problem is this: How can I change the default replacement font when I accessthe Find/Replace Font option in InDesign? It always comes up as Minion Pro. I'm using InDesign 20.4.1 on a Mac running OS 15.5.

I have several images in my document. My document width is 80mm. I have lots of images to be placed. I have created an object style which resizes the image frame to 80mm and fit the content proportionally.Issue is that there is no option in object style to resize it proportionally height wise. Is there any script which takes the dimensions of the image and then size is widthwise to 80mm and changes its height proportionally ? Thanks

Hi all, my problem is either that InDesign opens and then stalls on the Calling Late Initialisers page showing the pinwheel of doom or it opens as it normally should (but takes an age to do it), and then allows me to do a single activity on a document, and then also showing the pinwheel of doom. How do I resolve this? I've been trying to use InDesign for a while and thought the new update might work better. My Mac has the latest OS- Sequoia 15.5, is an M2 Pro chip, and should work based on these specs according to the Adobe Creative Cloud Installer. I also tried the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner earlier today but this still remains a problem. 

Hi! I'm trying to print a booklet, 32 pages, with covers, 5x10 inch pages. However every time I try to postscript my file it shows error (see screenshots) I've tested other docoments and it works fine, I removed some images and it worked but stopped again. I'm lost and not sure how to fix this. My print booklet settings are srceenshoted below.

Lately when I hover over a text block, the text block handles will not show up until I hover off the text block. Is this a new feature? If so, how do I turn this off?

I have a resume in indesign that was perfectly editable last I used it. I open this time and it's not. I am not look for a big explenation on Open Type or anything like that. I just want to know can I fix this or do I have to start from scratch? I can't even copy and paste. Only enough it's only on the first page. Second page is fine. 

My baseline grid doesn't show up no matter what I do. I've checked and unchecked the Grids in back box, readjusted the View Threshold, reopened inDesign and googled for about 2 hours now. The only solution I can find is to readjust my view threshold, wich I already did like a million times. Can you please help me?

I have a document that is 24 x 36". There was a recent change and now the size is supposed to be 22 x 28". How do I resize the entire document while resizing all text, masters, and images (appropriately and proportionally)? Can that be done?

Hi, using Mac M2 pro with Sequoia 15.5 no probs with machine, but this version of indesing 20.4.1 seems to lag on inporting small file no bigger than 1mb. Also can no longer select graphic or text boxes on top of each other, I mean real 5-6 second lags just to select a box. Scrolling with the hand tool is really bad aswell.Anyone experiencing the same problems?

Hi. Using ID 24.4.1 under Windows 11.Summary question: I know how to search for Index markers, but when I do, the search-for box doesn't return results if I include any additional specific text. For instance the "search for index marker" -- ^I -- works fine but ^IABC does not find those index markers containing the text ABC. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. It would not be the first time. How would I search for specific text WITHIN index markers? Background: Client with a manual suite. Two products are very similar (only a name change, some screen shots, and reduction of features in #2). I copy over the big files from Product #1 and change the name for Product #2, suitably deleting the specific features and changing the requisite shots. Easy-peasy. Product #1 has grown over the years, and this year I added an index, which will help with CS calls and RTFM. Now I bring the files over to Product #2 and would like to include the index there, too (why not, the markers

Hi, all! I want to create a bullet list with large headings (the bulleted elements), and have subordinate sentences beneath each bulleted heading. I'm trying to make this in one text box. I considered just having the bulleted headings in separate text boxes from their respective subordinate sentences and aligning them all, since this is just a one page doc, but I know that's not the efficient way to do it.Problems I've been having:Having the bullets only appear next to the headings (I need a line break after the heading, so naturally, it applies bullets to the subordinate sentence, and I don't want that).Aligning the second lines in paragraphs: I know where to adjust this, but I always have the darndest time figuring it out. I always seem to just luck out after randomly adjusting the bullet position values.See attached jpg for reference. Obviously, I figured it out once, but only after trying and trying. Thanks! Hi all. Any idea how I might change the colours of all these red icons in my document?All text is in styles (this is title and body styles) so I am hoping I can add a GREP, or failing that a find and change of some kind?The icons are vectors anchored in the text, not glyphs. Sadly other things are in red throughout (saving cells in all priceboxes included) so I'm reluctant to delete and replace a colour but might end up doing this!   

Hola a ver si alguien me puede ayudar. Llevo años usando Tabla de contenido para generar índices pero estoy teniendo problemas con una maquetación de un catálogo que llevo 4 años haciendo. Cada año genero la tabla de contenidos y nunca he tenido problemas pero este año al generar el PDF interactivo los links de las páginas de la tabla de contenido me dice el cliente que le llevan a la página siguiente a la indica en la tabla de contenido. ¿Es esto un bug de la versión InDesign 20.4.1 que estoy utilizando?El caso es que he preobado en varios dispositivos míos: en mi MAC , en mi teléfono (Android), en un PC (Windows)  y en un Iphone a mí sí me funcionan... ¿Podría ser un problema por utilizar archivos antiguos que reutilizo cada año modificando los contenidos, y que arrastran código oculto que genere un problema y esa disfunción?

If you select "Decorative image (no alt text)" in the "Alt Text" frame, why doesn't it doesn't automatically apply the 'Artifact' tag in the "Tagged PDF" window?I can't think of a situation that it would be appropriate to apply "Decorative image (no alt text)" to anything that wasn't intended to be artifacted in a PDF.It's frustrating to have to do both steps in a document with many artifacted images.

Years ago (before InDesign was born), I used Corel Ventura Publisher. One of it's features that I dearly miss in InDesign was its ability to automatically vertically justify text on all pages. You could simply choose the paragraph styles to be justified and set a maximum limit to the leading. In a book, for example, the body text leading limit could be set to ±10% and the last line of every page would be at the page bottom. The last page of a chapter that ended part way down the page would remain unchanged because of the leading limit. Does InDesign have such a feature? If not, Adobe, can you please add this feature to InDesign?

I'm doing the design for a series of novels. The author is handing me Word files. For the most part, he used styles in Word or did things in other ways I can detect with Find/Change (e.g. italicized text, which I can change to a character style). But every time he started a new section and needed a paragraph with no first-line indent, instead of using a different style or even overriding the paragraph settings, he put the cursor at the beginning of the paragraph and hit Backspace, which in Word removes the indent (apparently there is an invisible code for the indent itself). When I bring the file into InDesign, all paragraphs are indented because it just follows the styles and overrides. I have made a paragraph style to use for those paragraphs, but I'd rather not have to look for all of them manually. They will always follow specific things I can search for, like a section heading or special divider. But I don't know how to find one paragraph but do a change action on the paragraph fo
