Hi, I have 3 text layers and each has an invisible overhang that covers the layer(s) below it. Here is a screenshot of the page with the overhangs circled in cyan and the obscured text highlighted. Here is a screenshot of it when I move the lowest layer on the page forward so it shows: I have the "Not all composers are dead..." text in a separate box because is set to the full margins, compared to the "John Batiste..." text which is narrower due to thumbnail images that will be to the right of that lower text layer. What am I doing that causes this overhang? I do re-use my files - meaning I open last program's file and edit it to the current version as a 'save as'. Is that my problem? Thanks for any help and education! Jen
Hi,I have a list of sentences with numbers at the start. Generally unicode values of numbers should be from 30-39, however, since the matter is in arabic and I need the numerls in 30 - 39 unicode values, I need to convert it from arabic system to english system. i.e \x{6f0} to \x{30} for number 0\x{6f1} to \x{31} for number 1 .... and so on. As there are more than 10000 numbers it will take forever. How can I do this in InDesign ?Thanks
Hi, In InDesign, I want to display each article on a separate page. The page height should automatically adjust vertically based on the length of the text. My heading style is set to "Start in Next Frame." Thank you for your help and rights.
I have a 16 page InDesign file that contains hundreds of imported Illustrator images that were created using spot colors. Each image will be die cut, so I also have a layer in the InDesign file with the die lines created using a spot color set to overprint. How do I create a pdf with the Illustrator images converted to 4-color process but with the die lines layer remaining a spot color? Is that even possible? If it's not possible, does anyone have a suggestion for a way to output the file so that the die lines won't print along with the 4-color pages, but are there so that printer can use them for the die-cuts? Secondarily, I'm also finding that when I create a pdf proof, some of the die lines appear as overprinting, but some do not. Anybody have a theory as to why that would happen?
So I was using inDesign like usual, all I did was add 2 pages in the middle of my document and then my vertical scroll is unresponsive (I am on mac by the way) but I use the trackpad and also a mouse. Horizontal scrolling and zooming in and out is still working, I just can't scroll vertical anymore which is a huge hindrance. Does somebody have a quick solution because this seems very minor but it is effecting my workflow a lot. Please help!
When I use World-Wide paragraph composer, double-digit footnote callouts in text change so that the first digit is superscript but the second digit changes to a regular number. I can only fix this by changing the paragraph composer or I can manually make the superscripts with the style on the top of the menu--but these are not as attactive as superscripts that come with the typefaces I'm using. I'm using InDesign 20.0.1, but I beleive this has been happening for several versions.
When I place certain .psd files a thin grey line appear around the border of the file. But not consistently and depending on the zoom level the grey line will be visible on only side or more – And I can't seem to see a pattern in when. The line is also visible when I export to a pdf with the same random behavior. The placed file do not have a stroke around it. Anyone know what can cause this and how to get rid of it?
The last few pages in my indesign are not showing up. I've tried the fixes that have been suggested, such as making the panel larger, clearing the data and the preferences. Nothing has worked and when I export to pdf, I can only access the lesser amount even though it's showing that there are more pages. The pdf is telling me that 340 is the max I can go to but I need those other blank pages. According to the picture below page 345 is equivalent to 337. It makes no sense! I hope someone has come across this and can offer a solution, this is driving me batty!
Hello. I can't figure out how to change the JOIN in the text (Mitre Join, Bevel Join or Round Join). For example, I will attach a simple version of how I would like to change (my main script is very large).var doc = app.activeDocument; var textFrame = doc.textFrames.add(); textFrame.geometricBounds = [0, 0, 100, 200]; textFrame.contents = "Hello World!"; var text = textFrame.texts[0]; text.strokeWeight = 5; text.strokeColor = doc.colors.item(0); text.strokeJoinType = StrokeJoinType.MITER_END_JOIN; // Альтернативні варіанти: // text.strokeJoinType = StrokeJoinType.BEVEL_END_JOIN; // Bevel Join // text.strokeJoinType = StrokeJoinType.ROUND_END_JOIN; // Round JoinIn general, the basic idea of my script is as follows: a window, a text input field, a stroke size and a drop-down list with Mitre Join, Bevel Join and Round Join. InDesign sets Mitre by default, but I need to switch between them.
Dear Adobe InDesign community, I would appreciate advice for the following problem.Output: a bilingual face-to-face book with, after the first introductory contiguous pages:Even pages: original text (English, Hindi…), in general poemsOdd pages: their translation (in French)All top pages must properly face each other, the bottom pages being in general asymmetric (French is an analytical language, much longer than English or Hindi for example). To be complete, poems can be longer than one page and then arises the problem of page breaks between non-contiguous pages (even to even, and odd to odd).Input: a Microsoft Word document, where original and French texts alternate, with page breaks.But I can also prepare two documents: one with only the original text, the other one with only the French translation, poems being separated in both documents by section or page breaks._____________________________________________________I already used the following method:Prepare an InDesign template, wi
Merci d'avance.
If there is no blank page in the back, create a new blank pages, and then expand the overflow text.If there is a blank page in the back, the overflow text is directly expanded.There is a script, but it is not working now.Can you help me modify it?Thank youvar myDoc = app.documents[0]; myDoc.textPreferences.smartTextReflow = true; myDoc.textPreferences.deleteEmptyPages = false; myDoc.textPreferences.limitToMasterTextFrames = false; myDoc.textPreferences.addPages = AddPageOptions.END_OF_DOCUMENT;

Gracias.
Can someone advise whether, when opening and editing .indd (InDesign files) via Box Drive, whether Box Drive recognises also the linked images and spreadsheets, and therefore opens these supplementary files in memory, causing Box Drive to identify them as being downloaded?
Has anyone used the pantone connect subscripton to successfully convert a PMS to CMYK values please?The client has 2607 corporate colour which I need to convert for CMYK printing job. Using pantone connect the breakdow it gives me is:C 68 M 100 Y0 B0 It looks quite off.... (I know this is likely due to the differences between the inks)I don't have the PMS colour bridge swatch to check, can anyone confirm this is correct please? Thank you for any help!
I create engineering proposals and there are a lot of abbreviated terms that are used. I typically define the first occurence and then do a search for the phrase and/or abbreviation thereafter. In a short document, that usually works fine and is pretty efficient. Recently, I've started a larger proposal that has at least 50 abbreviations/acronyms (and there may be more after all authors have contributed) and was wondering how to write a GREP to find all of them in a document. Can any help me write a GREP or provide some guidance in this matter? Thanks in advance.
Hi, recently I bought a new computer and when I try to install In Design it says I need to pay again. But I am already paying $$$ a month for it. How do I access my old account on my new computer? And when I do get In Design on my new computer, how do I get all my old work on it?Best,Catherine Mullins
I am having problems with punctuation marks and bullets moving to the wrong side. The text does not appear as Arabic or Hebrew and going from right to left. It is only the punctuation marks and the bullets that mess up. It happens both when I write directly in InDesign and when I import word files. I've seen others having the same problem but can not find the solution. Any suggestions here? Thanks for your help.
Is there a way to retrieve hidden conditional text in a script? I have tried the following code which works if the text is not hidden. It does not return any hits if the conditional text is hidden. function getTextByCondition(doc, conditionName) { var results = []; var condition = doc.conditions.itemByName(conditionName); app.findChangeTextOptions.includeFootnotes = true; app.findChangeTextOptions.includeHiddenLayers = true; app.findChangeTextOptions.includeLockedLayersForFind = true; app.findChangeTextOptions.includeLockedStoriesForFind = true; app.findChangeTextOptions.includeMasterPages = true; app.findTextPreferences = app.changeTextPreferences = null; app.findTextPreferences.appliedConditions = [condition]; // app.findTextPreferences.hiddenText = true; var foundItems = doc.findText(); for (var i = 0; i < foundItems.length; i++) { var foundItem = foundItems[i]; var text = foundItem.contents; va
