 Hello, Ive got this preexisting InDesign table, and I was wondering if I could link a table from Excel into those three free columns on the right? When I try to place it as unformatted text, it just all goes into the first cell. Is this possible or do I need to find a workaround? Thanks!  

Could someone help me with this error? I have already updated the ToC not to use Text Anchors ... I have removed and recreated the ToC ... same error ... I have tried with checking the "make text anchor in paragraph" option but it then gives the same error, and every time I need to rebuild my custom bookmarks ... What can I do? How can I find what are the "offending" text anchors that are not found? I tried to make a copy of the INDD, remove the TOC and export, which gave no error. Recreating the TOC and exporting to EPUB gave the same error ... 

Hello,A month ago I worked on an arabic language project in illustrator. Today I opened indesign and it looks like it's messed up here. I do not want to work in arabic anymore - either in illusrator or indesign.I'd like to restore the settings to factory settings. I uninstalled the entire suite and installed again, and yet it's all messed up. Please find attached a screenshot on what it looks like when I try to place a file. It seems like it wants to place it arabic way - right to left. also included is indesign file.I am about to lose my mind. Kindly help!

Seit längerem ist mein Indesign extrem langsam. Jeder Klick oder Bewegung dreht es 5-10 Sekunden. Ich habe schon vieles Versucht nichts hilft. Danke 

Acabo de cambiar a Indesign 2025. Las fotos (archivos de Photoshop en blanco y negro) aparecen más claras, más palidas. Quiero que sigan como antes. Que puedo hacer?

I'm making a report with a long references section full of hyperlinks. On opening the file the next day and exporting it to interactive PDF, almost half of the URLs had been shortened (they are quite long). I put the full URLs in but somehow they got shortened – not sure why this is happening? Never had this problem in earlier versions of indesign

Can you please add add a function to skip pages when auto numbering? When working on a large file with tabs, it's very time consuming and easy to make errors when you have to start a new section after each tab in order to keep the numbers consecutive. I would love to be able to just click on the tab pages to skip numbering.Thank you.

I design a magazine and I need to share files with someone. She wants me to package everything but other than fonts if I give her the files with the linked assests won't they stay linked when she opens the file. 

Hi all, does anyone have any idea how to differentiate between these two rectangles using ExtendScript.   About the creation process: An XML tag was assigned to the lower rectangle, which was then removed. This way, the appearance in the layer palette can be recreated. They do not differ in IDML. Thus, the lower element becomes a “normal” rectangle when the IDML file is opened. Thanks for any hintsRoland

Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out the best way to achieve something. I'm working on a 500+ pages book. The idea is to have titles outside of the original text frame. That in itself is quite easy to achieve, we'll all agree, with a separate smaller text frame that is positioned outside for the title and link the text frames together with threading. Now comes the interesting part which makes it more complicated. I want to achieve two more things:1. I need it to be reflow-proof, as some inserts or additions will probably come in at a later stage2. I need it to be able to export well as an epub later on as well as be printed in offset printing. In order to make it reflow-proof, I was thinking I could ad the (autosizing) text frame with the titles as inline anchored objects with specific spacing before and after the anchored object. Hey y'all, I'm having a hard time getting my numbers to line up on this table. None of the tutorials I've tried online have been working. For some background:This table was imported from an Excel file and they are linkedThe column width is set to 1.17 in for all number cellsI've already tried "Align to Decimal" under "Tabs" in "Paragraph Styles". I've done various sizes for X and tried setting it to both " , " and " ) ", none of which has workedMost everything is based on Paragraph Style 3 and Cell Style 3, and all specialized styles reference these two or iterations of them. (i.e. Underlined Body Rows references Cell Style 3, and Fill Underlined Body references Underlined Body Rows)I want the " , " to line up for the numbers, even if there is a parenthesis. I'm wondering if the table being imported from Excel removed any "Tab" function that you would normally get from making a table from scratch in InDesign, because nothing seems to be working. what's the maximum number of files that I can open at the same time from an indesign book?If I have hundreds of files opened and If I try to open more files from the book, Indesign stops opening files and crashes if I try to update the index can I change maximum number of file that can be opened at the same time? thanks in advance

Hi,I have created a new Indesign CC document as a sales brochure and each product has a hyperlink to the corresponding website url for that product.When I export the document to a pdf (interactive or not) all of the links go to the same url, even though I have checked every hyperlink twice and they are all different, can anyone help please? I am having issues with my Adobe in design 2025. When I am moving text boxes/images etc they are no longer moving along as I move the mouse and are jolting. They are staying in one place until i release the mouse and then it jumps to where I have moved it to. I never used to have this issue so I am assuming it is a setting or something I have accidentally changed? Before when I moved the mouse it would pick up and move the image around the page following until I selected where I wanted to place it.  This is inconvenient for me because I need to see where I am moving the images to fit them within certain guides etc. Does anyone know the answer to this problem? 

Hi everyone! I'm having issues with my indesign. Everytime I want to draw an object, move an object create a new one... the canvas goes all white and I can't really see anything.  I'm working on MacBook Air, Sonoma 14.7,   InDesign 2025 (20.0.1). I did read that there were similar issues but I thought they have been fixed? TIA!

Hey ich hab seit Wochen ein Problem mit Indesign. Mein Indesign lädt die ganze Zeit oder öffnet sich gar nicht, wenn ich Zuhause bin. Die andere Programme wie Illustrator und Photoshop funktionieren einwandfrei. Un was ich nicht verstehe ist, dass mein Indesign aber an anderen Standorten einwandfrei funktioniert. Ich hab die Creative Cloud und Indesign öfters deinstalliert und neu installiert. Ich habe auch das Creative Clean Tool benutzt um ältere Versionen zu löschen. Es funktioniert noch immer nicht , wenn ich Zuhause bin, nur an anderen Standorten. Weiß jemand ob es am Wlan liegt ? Das kann eigentlich ja nicht sein, weil man die Adobe Programme auch offline benutzen kann. Oder liegt es an der neuen Software Sequoia von Mac? Ich bitte um jede Hilfe , es ist dringend. Ich arbeite nur mit Indesign. Vielen Dank!!!!

I have an odd occurance happening with lines featuring arrowheads - the length seems to be self adjusting when the arrowhead is placed past the length of the line. If I adjust to have the arrowhead flush with the line length there is no problem. Making a new document this is not an issue - but we have thousands of archived documents where this is causing an issue when opening in a newer version. Is thia preference issue or a bug in the software between versions? I have tested in 2024 and 2021 (where files originally where created) but I have not tested version in between.Further explanation: If I draw a line in 2024 add an arrowhead that extends past the line length, whenever it is moved, duplicated or adjusted it snaps to alonger size. The change is size seems to be consitent with the space from the line end to the arrowhead, which is what makes it feel like something that broke in the software. I’m trying to use dynamic XML data in Adobe InDesign to populate a template, but I’m struggling with setting it up correctly. My goal is to have 4 independent text frames on each page, filled with XML data, and for this to repeat across 365 pages.Later, the rest of the design I want to use will come from the master page. I want the XML to ignore all the empty space on the page and only flow into those 4 independent text frames.Here’s where I’m running into problems:I can only make the 4 independent text frames work if I place them directly under the root in the Structure Panel.However, if I place the frames inside a folder in the Structure Panel, it only populates the first page, and the data stops flowing to the following pages.If I drag the root folder into the first page, InDesign ignores my independent text frames altogether. Instead of flowing the data into the 4 separate frames, it combines all the data into one column or stacks it beside each other.To summarize: I want InDesign

Dear forum,I am attempting to write a script for a company that prints hoodies for school leavers. Currently, they just paste the list of names into the number box and then adjust the text manually moving things around, adjusting font size, line spacing, kerning, manually adding in spaces or line breaks until it looks ok, but it is quite difficult and time-consuming, and annoying! The trickiest part is filling an irregular shape (a text frame) with names.At the moment, they can be in three variants:First name onlyFirst name and initialFirst name and surname In fact, I think, there will be needed two algorithms: one for 1 and 2 and another for 3.The requirements are just to fit the children’s names in the outline of the “23” (for this year) and look neat and correct. All names need to be the same size as each other (no names bigger than others). Initial/surname would need to not be split from the first name by a line break. good morning I' vedownloaded the myriad hebrewto do a hebrew version of my layout. Unfortunally I 've notisted that the text goes from link to right unstead of from right to link, although I set the language as hebrew. How can I fix this problem? thaks in advance Giuliana     {Renamed by MOD}

My Indesign application won't open.  All the rest of my applications are working ex: Illustrator, Photoshop, just not Indesign. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the application but it still won't open, with an error occured notification box appearing each time. I've sent a report from this box to Adobe but no solution appears. Very stressful as I need to complete a project by the end of this week. How do I resolve this?

Bonjour, Je vous contacte pour signaler un problème récurrent que je rencontre depuis quelques mois concernant l'enregistrement de mes fichiers via la suite Adobe sur mon poste (ça fonctionne sur le reseau de la société) . Auparavant, je pouvais enregistrer directement mes documents dans un dossier spécifique, et lors de chaque export, le chemin d'enregistrement se remplissait automatiquement. Cependant, depuis quelque temps, mes logiciels ne mémorisent plus le chemin et me renvoient systématiquement vers le dossier "Documents" par défaut. Je suis donc obligé de rechercher manuellement le dossier dans lequel je souhaite enregistrer mes fichiers à chaque export, ce qui ralentit considérablement mon travail. Je ne sais pas si cela est dû à un changement dans les paramètres du logiciel ou à une autre cause, mais ce comportement n'était pas présent auparavant et complique beaucoup la gestion de mes fichiers.
