Hello,I'm trying to reduce the used space on my drive. Looking on my Windows 10 machine, I see that the I have folders for six versions of InDesign under AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign. Can I delete the previous version folders without harm?  Thanks!

I am trying to create a parent page in indesign that only adds the page number to all the pages. When I currently do it, it also changes the grids I have on certain pages. Is there a wasy to do this so that it only adds the page numbers and doesnt change anything else?

I have a 16-page pdf file from a client that they made in Canva. I can open it in Acrobat just fine but cannot import it in to InDesign. They included bleeds and crops. TrimBox set to .236 in, Bleed Box .118 in. Is there something I need to do to the file in Acrobat first before InDesign will let me place it? I keep getting the "Failed to Open the PDF file error".     <Title renamed by MOD>

There are many exciting AI tools from Adobe, but sometimes it would be nice if AI would simply simplify the less exciting work steps a little. e.g. the options to have the line breaking optimization implemented directly with AI via the paragraph formats and to control how strongly this is implemented. Or integrate an option for the GREP styles where we could control the microtypographical adjustments as required by simply entering text instead of defining these settings with code.

Hi, I need to create something like this for a project of mine (image 1). However, I can't get my lines to look like that. I keep getting stuck at image 2 and can't figure out how to remove the lines on the side. How can I fix this?Thank you!

I have an InDesign document that I am working with in CC 2014. It was originally converted from either Frame Maker (2007) or InDesign CS5 and seems to have some old cross-reference markers that are now estentially empty junk. The problem is that these don't show up in the cross-references or hyperlinks panel and so far I have now found a way to search for them - either through InDesign or with a script so I can delete them. They do read enough though to be able to mess up other scripts that I run that use the character count of the paragraph. Any ideas on how I can find and delete these without having to go one by one?

Hi. Using ID 18.2.1 on Windows 11 (all updated).I got myself into this... I'm hoping someone can get me out.I created an anchored frame and pasted a relatively complex graphic into it (using Paste Into). Everything is satisfactory, except that now I must edit the graphic, which exists only in the anchored frame. (Mea Culpa.)So the question is How do I copy/remove the graphic from the anchored frame for further editing? I can't seem to find a way to do this. I will not make the same mistake again. Thanks, as always, to the Community. -j

I often had this problem with InDesign CS3 (and I think CS2 also). When composing a paragraph in InDesign, the last line will often be further away, is that a known issue about InDesign. I checked the paragraph option (space afters, space befores, etc) and there is nothing: All line in the paragraph have the same characteristics. There are no characters in subscript or superscript mode. What could cause that? Thank you Louis G5, Leopard, Suitcase X1, Creative Suite CS3.

When I Publish Online (link), some image boxes are appearing different (and not as intended) as others even though they have same treatment. The problematic boxes are on page 15 - where there is a white background showing where I've used the bevel corner option. In another instance, page 13, the white background doesn't appear.  (screenshots attached)  On both pages, the image box and background boxes are set up the same way. The image boxes do not have a fill (they do have a stroke). In both cases, the background is a tint. Here's a link to the ID file in case that's helpful. I can't figure out why this is happening. Any help would be appreciated.

how to change the underline colour for text in Indesign?

Hi everyone. I'm pulling my hair out on this one.  I have a very simple frame setup as seen in the picture, and for no apparent reason InDesign decides to split the text well before the frame's end All the text in the frame has one style, and for that style "Keep Options" are off. The parent of the style is "No paragraph style"The table is simply a 1 row, 2 column tableThere are no break characters of any kind anywhere.If I remove the table, the text flows properly.If I gradually add one-line paragraphs of text, at some point it will jump to the next frame and carry a whole bunch of the previous lines as well (see pic).I've tried to search for similar issues  but most seem to be hidden jump or Keep together-related.Any hints as to why this might be happening? Thanks a lot in advancei.

It hangs a lot while working in Indesign 20.0.1 Program. I get my keyboard responses late. I am using Mac studio M1. I wonder what could be the reason? I also installed the latest version.

Hello everyone, one of my clients asked me to do a word index of the book I am working on.He gave me a list of words (more than 100 words) and I have to mention in the index each word on what page it is located.[eg: the word "language" at what pages is mentionedLanguage: 10, 15, 38, 45, etc...]Each word should be indexed like this.I am new to indexing and have never used it before. Is there any way to do this automatically, or with a script? The only way I know is to use the "Find/Change" to search for each word, but that will take a lot of time.

After wasting 30 minutes of my valuable life with an ignorant CS rep, I realize now that I have to pay (AGAIN) for an older version (which I paid for over 30 years).  I have an old file from 2003 without an extension so not sure what version will open it.   Does anyone have an old version that could possibly upgrade this file for me?  

Hi, I am having a problem with the text in a three column table not flowing to the next page. The table is set up with header and I have added a new row. The column has the overset red dot but the overset text will not go to the next page. The text is coming from a word doc that is also set up in this manner from the client.  I am experience in using tables but have watched version youtube videos so see if I am missing somthing. It is driving me crazy. Please help.

Hi, I have some text in arabic language. I need some dots to be underline and some to be overline.Issue is that the dots are zerowidth characters. (Screenshot attached). I am using underline feature but I need the underline OR overline only under or over the text.  (Screenshot attached) How can I achieve this? Paragraph rules wont work here.

I am working on a magazine, and I normally always do one file with several magazine covers for the team to choose from, and another file with all the magazine content. Each have their own review link. The issue I found is that one I export the second review link, when I go back into the other file the comments and review link is all from the second review link, and I cannot update the first document with the changes on the first review link I created. It. creates a new link and gets rid of all the the other comments on that file that I was saving for other people to review. How can i solve this? I have tired using Indesign Beta and Indesing 2025. Restarting Indesign and even the computer and this keeps on happening. Can I not have more that one active review link working at the same time? Doesn't make much sense if that is the case. I am on Macbook Air 13-inch, M3, 2024 Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)

Hi all,I'm literally unable to work now as a mouse left click barely works... I can select elements, but menus are not responsive to clicks – i.e. unable to pick a font, color, image within frame etc. I've tried a few versions of InDesign 2024 and the 2025 one, different mouses and input devices (pens etc.), restarting, resetting etc. There are no plugins installed. Anybody has an idea what to do? 🙏 I've got lots of projecs that I cannot finish...Computer: MacBook Pro M1 ProMax 64GB

This is one of the worst updates I've ever seen in any software. Why would you encourage your clients to use the new version ? It's dismal. I'm running a Mac Studio with 35Gb of RAM, it runs After Effects with no problems, it ran InDesign 2024 with no problems. How did you mess this update up THIS bad ? For every click I do on ID 25, the app freezes for at least 5 seconds. EVERY. SINGLE. CLICK. I'm completely baffled at your sheer incompetence.Congratulations I guess

We are using InDesign on three computers, two PCs (1 Dell, 1 HP) and a Macbook, and are working on the same file in a shared drive. The file is a list of items with ID, Description, Year, and Price. We are aligning columns using the tab key. The file is appearing the same for the HP and Macbook, both of which were setup a year ago. When the file is opened with the Dell, which was set up a week ago, either the font (Azo Sans) or the formatting is being affected somehow. The Description reaches slightly further into the page, causing a change in where inDesign is placing the first tab. The next column, Year, is then offset for various items when a Description is a certain length. For one item, this is on the same file opened by each computer, the Description reaches just before 3" into the page on the HP and Mac, but right at 3" for the Dell, which is causing the first tab to be placed differently. So on the HP and Mac it looks "correct," however on the Dell it appears the

Bonjour ! J’ai un problème avec les couleurs sur mon indesign. Quand j’imprime les couleurs ne sont pas du tout les mêmes. Savez-vous comment le paramétrer pour que j’ai des couleurs assez correspondantes avec les couleurs d’impression ? Merci 🙂
