I am on Windows 11 latest version and Indesign 19.5. I'm having a strange effect with text tracking. My para style (called 'standard para') is set to zero tracking but the text nevertheless shows a tracking value of 50 and there there is no override indication. I have tried selecting some para text and changing the tracking to zero which works and the 'standard para' style then shows an override indication. If I then clear the override the tracking returns to 50. I then tried setting the style tracking to something outragous like 200 but it has no effect. I do incidentally have a character style for a Drop Cap and that has a tracking of 50 but it only applies in a different style ('standard first para' based on 'standard para') so  I can't see why that is affecting it. How do you work efficently between Ps, Id and Ai? I'm trying to design a brochure with text , vectors and photos. I can't design the text without the backround and vice versa, but it seems like you need a different program for each  part of the  brochure. I have tried libraries but you can only put in a single element not an entire document, and you have to either have it perfect from the start or edit without being  able to see the rest uf the design.   In Affinity; which I was using until now, you simply click edit with and you can edit your entire document in any of the thre design apps (see  photo below).  Is there away to do something similair in Adobe?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi everyone, I’m in desperate need of help with an issue I’ve been facing in Adobe InDesign for the past month. When I insert a video and resize it with rounded corners and a stroke, it looks fine initially, but then the corners keep flicking back to square. When I publish, it looks very wrong (corners rounded, but video square inside the round) and this has become incredibly frustrating since images work perfectly.   I have not changed any settings before this issue started as it started randomly.   Here’s what I’ve tried so far:- Verified framing settings (set to None)- Reinstalled InDesign- Ensured I’m using the latest version - Currently using a Macbook Pro M2 (MacOS15) - Same as always - Ensure videos are in MP4 format    I’ve also noticed that when I use the “Fill Proportionally” option, the blue bounding box shows outside the frame, which isn’t correct. This is the message I get when I try and export individual pages with the numbering and section applied to it. I do not understand this message clearly. When I try to do what its says I still get this messge.   Below is the file where the pages have different page numbers applied. As you can see there is 2 docouments that have the nimber 6 to its page. I want to export just the page that is circled red. How do I do this?     <Title renamed by MOD>

hopefully a really simple request... How do I set/edit the imageCatalog script to place images with 'Fill Frame Proportionally' set?At present I can only get it to place with fit proportionally thanks!S 

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this, please.   If I mask an image in Photoshop, the quality massively reduces when I place that image in InDesign. It loses all vibrancy and is also very pixelated. I have tried converting it to a smart image, exporting it as a JPEG/ PNG, and placing it as a PSD file and nothing has changed. Also display performance is high so it's not that - the photo literally changes before my eyes as soon as it is placed. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo zusammen 🙂  Mein Problem ist das ich keine Interaktiven PDFs samt Hyperlinks exportieren kann.Es kommt eine Anzeige in der steht "Export fehlgeschlagen" und darauffolgend "die potenzielle Fehlerquelle liegt auf Seite 1 des Druckbogens". Allerdings fehlen keine Verknüpfungen und auch sonst wird mir im Preflight-Bedienfeld kein Fehler angezeigt. Hinzu kommt das sich die Datei, wenn ich sie in Onedrive ablege und mein Arbeitskollege sie auf seinem PC mit seinem Indesign öffnet, problemlos exportieren lässt. Das ganze ist also relativ Mysteriös. Was ich bereits versucht habe: - Mac book neustarten- Indesign neustarten -Mac book und Indesign updaten-Indesign deinstallieren und erneut herunterladen Wenn mir jemand hierbei helfen könnte wäre ich sehr Dankbar. LG Jere 🙂 

Hi there I am trying to resize quite a large document using the 'adjust layout' tool, and everytime I try to implement the change I get an error which says, "Unable to adjust document layout due to an error". From what I have read in the forum, some people have this issue due to locked layers, however I don't have any locked layers. Any ideas as to why I can't adjust the layout?

It would be nice to have a panel, which can be opened with a shortcut, where I can manually add some frequently accessed directories.For example, I would like to have quick access to my local libraries when I need them. I don't want to keep the library file open at all times, which I think affects the speed of the software, especially since I don't use the CC cloud library.For example, I would like to have quick access to where the Grep, shortcuts are stored. I really wish Adobe had a faceplate for this.

Hi Team,  I changed my endnotes heading style to a numbered list. Previously there was the number followed by two non-breaking spaces (this is for an ebook) I want to Find: ^9^S^S   [later ^9^9] / Find Format: notehead Change to: [blank to delete the number and non breaking spaces] / Change Format: notehead-numlist   Indd is changing the style but not deleting the text number and spaces. Several paragraphs in the book I'm laying out will have a graphic placed between them. It will always be the same decorative graphic – I've made it into an object style, but don't see how to "insert it".  (I also may not have styled the object correctly... I want to place it with an established top and bottom margin.) Example of how it should look is attached. This should be pretty easy?– hoping you can help me out!

Hi!So what I'm trying to do is import text from Word (which has regular, bolded, and italic font styles) into InDesign without removing its formatting.I can do that first step just fine, the problem is, there are other elements of the all the text I would like to edit (size, indents, leading, tracking) which would be easiest to do by just having a preset paragraph style, however, you cannot set a paragraph style without also setting a font style which overrides the original formatting from word (converts all text to light, medium, bold, etc). Has anyone ran into a similar problem? I really don't want to manually set all the paragraph formatting everytime when there's just one thing I don't want to edit.

Hi everyone. I just discovered that I managed to not save my InDesign file after I exported it to PDF. Not even sure how this could happen, since it would seem I had to save it before exporting it. Is there any way I can retrieve or recreate the InDesign file from the exported PDF? I need the InDesign file for creating a Kindle version. Oh dear. We are experiencing a scary problem on some of our machines. We are using intel macs with 10.6.7.They were using InDesign CS5 (7.0.3) at the time of the problem. Both machines have been updated to 7.0.4 and have not had the problem since.However this has been a periodic error the whole time, so its not easy to replicate it...This problem is as follows.During working in InDesign it quits unexpectedly and we need to open it again.When we locate the file (on a windows server connected with smb) it has turned into a shortcut or alias witch points to nothing.The original file is nowhere to be found. The following function is supposed to copy the items on page src to page dst. That works on simple items.       function copyPageContent(src, dst) { itemsOnPage = src.pageItems; for (var e = 0; e < itemsOnPage.length; e++) { gb = itemsOnPage[e].geometricBounds; pos = [gb[1], gb[0]]; duped = itemsOnPage[e].duplicate(dst); duped.move(pos); } }       But if i have 2 Items on the page src that are linked (being src.Item-A the original and src.Item-B the link to src.Item-A), on the copied page, the newly copy dst.Item-B is still linked to the original src.Item-A on page src. I want it to be linked to the dst.Item-A on the page dst. Also, if the src.Item-B is rotated by 180° and put below the src-Item-A, its copy dst.Item-B is also rotated but put left of dst.Item-A. In other words: its right-down corner is put where its upper-left corner should be. How can I unlink dst.Item-B from src.Item-A, link it to dst.Item-A and how can I correctly position

I have used indesign for many years and never had this issue. I link pdf drawings / scans of images into my indesign document and crop to the information I want. Sometimes the information cropped out could be sensitive information we do not want to share.   Exporting the document appeared fine on my machine but when sent to an external party it appeared with the pdf images uncropped and showing additional information all over the pages.    This only happened with the pdf links.    Are there any settings that could have made this happen or what can I do to ensure it does not happen? As it appeared correct on my machine I had no idea that after export to pdf it retained the cropped information and just want to ensure I create flattened pages from now on.   Thanks!   <Title renmaed by MOD>

Bonjour, Je rencontre des soucis d'affichage sur indesign, quand je branche mon MacBook Pro sur mon écran en USBC ou sur une TV en HDMI tout est ok, mais quand je le débranche des écrans, mes fichiers ne sont plus visible sur mon MAcBook, j'ai un écran tout gris, malgré plusieur essais d'affichage, toujours pareil, je suis obligé de quitté Indesign et de réouvrir mon fichier.Avez vous déjà rencontré ce soucis et avez vous l'explication ou la solution ?Merci d'avance !! 

When using InDesign over the last few days, I keep getting an error message that "InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried but it appears to be damaged." This has happened on multiple files all day long and I've lost work most times. Sometimes InDesign will crash and send an error report (and then sometimes my files will be restored) other times there's nothing I can do but close the file without saving my work. It's probably happened 15 different times today on several different documents both new and old and it's getting VERY frustrating. I've had this issue before more than a year ago and it miraculously got better when there was some kind of update. I really can't work in InDesign if this continues because these files are not damaged, InDesign just has some kind of issue. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!! Also...for the record, Adobe Rush crashes ALL the time too. Please fix your programs!

InDesign does not allow you to set up a custom page size and export the PostScript unless a printer is installed. The custom size option under File > Print Booklet > Print Settings > Setup > Paper Size is greyed out. I'm trying to resize a page (dst) to the dimensions of a master page (src), this is what finally works:       function copyPageMetrics(src, dst) { var bounds = src.bounds; dst.resize(BoundingBoxLimits.GEOMETRIC_PATH_BOUNDS, AnchorPoint.TOP_LEFT_ANCHOR, ResizeMethods.REPLACING_CURRENT_DIMENSIONS_WITH, [bounds[3]*2.8346, bounds[2]*2.8346]); }       I have the correct coordinates in bounds[3],bounds[2] (checked that with an alert()), but they didnt gave me the correct resize. To get the correct rresize, I had to multiply them with 2.8346, which is the factor of points in a mm.Why? Why dont they use the same coordinate system? Is this always the case or do I have to get a page-specific translation-factor from somewhere?<Title renamed by MOD>
