Questions

I have a list of 250 records in excel and including different images to prepare an auction booklet, all data has a typical format but different information.   is there any way that I can use data merge to have a different layout for each record, for example the first page showing the images on the right and the text on the left, the second page showing the flip of the image to have it on the left and the text on the right.   or any other suggestion to help doing so?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Ich habe folgendes Problem dass ich eine Grosse Indesign Datei habe (für Messestand) mit einzelnen Seiten die ich als Druckbogen angeordnet habe (insgesamt 5 Seiten). Die Druckerei braucht die Druckdaten jeweils als einzelne Seiten mit Beschnitt und Schnittzeichen. Wenn ich nun von dem Indesign einzelne Seiten exportiere sind 2 von den 5 Seiten fehlerhaft. Es zerreisst mir das Bild oder färbt mir das Bild einfach anders ein etc. Habe diverse PDF Export Einstellungen ausprobiert das Indesign File in 5 File aufgeteilt aber 2 PDF's sind immer Fehlerhaft. Komischerweise wenn ich alle Seiten auf einen Druckbogen rauslasse dann funktioniert es. Voll strange. Habe noch weitere solche grosse Files mit praktisch gleichem Aufbau und da habe ich keine Probleme. Habe gestern schon extrem lange rumexperimentiert und heute auch noch auf die aktuellste Indesign Version aktualisiert (19.5). Hat jemand eine Idee wo oder was das Problem ist.  THNXNakazu

Hello,    Please, may someone advise how to fix the issue with my indd app ?   Everytime I package a file, it fails, the blue process bar gets to to 50% and then it happens = the app fails, packaged folder contains only indd file, no idml file even if it was chosen to be processed. Fonts and Links folders empty ......This started like 1 month ago, I tought it is bug that will be solved soon, but the issue is still the same. / FYI - packaging in Ai is completely fine.   Device: MacBook Pro, M3. macOS: Sonoma 14.6.1.(23G93)   Thank you !   Monika   <Title renamed by MOD>

Since I use Indesign 18 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 I have an issue with files.When I try to link or load images that were just saved in Photoshop they appear grey the first time I open the folder; if I then open the folder again they can be opened and appear normal. Same with indd files. Opening folders two times is pretty time consuming. Anyone has the same problem / solution? Many thanks!

I have a font that is not working in InDesign on just one computer. When the font is selected the type becomes illegible like it has no width and shows only thin black verical bars at the left of the text frame that is the selection. The font works properly on other computers. Other fonts from this same series work on the broken computer.   With odd font behavior ilke this in the past we've cleared all font caches and everything was OK, but that hasn't worked for this.   I've searched the hard drive for .lst files and removed them. Also stopped the Windows font chache service and deleted the files in the "FontCache*.dat" files from the C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local and C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\FontCache folders, but nothing's helped!   We've also uninstalled and re-installed InDesign.   Other ideas would be greatly appreciated.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I am experiencing problems when I use lines in indesign and export my indesign to a pdf file. In the pdf file my line is no longer a line but a plane, so a double line. The lines are needed for working drawings when marking out shapes. Can anyone give me advice?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hey everyone.  I'm just staring to work with Indesign and I'm having a printing issue.  I'm printing to a laser printer and my background is coming out pale grey instead of white. I've printed with the page set to 'paper' and to 'none' but, it's the same either way.  Even my graphic (a jpg with a white background) is coming out pale grey.  Clearly I'm missing something.  Any help would be appriciated.Thanks,Linda

Hi i dont think its possible but i wanted to ask, i do weekly graphics that include football/soccer fixtures and have to type the names out every week which takes a while as i cover quite a lot of leagues. i konw you can do drop down menu for use on a interactive pdf but is there anyway that a drop down box works within Indesign?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Bonjour, je viens d'acquérir un ordinateur portable ASUS ProArt avec un écran ultra haute résolution (3840 x 2400 pixels). Il fonctionne sur Windows 11. Après installation de la creative cloud, l'application Indesign est floue (mais pas les autres telles que Photoshop et Illustrator qui sont bien nettes). Je précise que c'est toute l'application qui est floue (les textes des menus, les icônes...), pas seulement la création.Aucun des paramètres de réglage de Windows 11 n'a fonctionné jusqu'à présent (via réglages Système > Ecran, ou encore via un clic droit sur l'EXE, puis > Compatibilité > Modifier les paramètres PPP élevés).C'est comme si Indesign n'était pas prévu pour ce type d'écran en haute résolution.Une précision supplémentaire, Indesign est bien net sur mon moniteur externe. D'autres personnes sont-elles confrontées au même problème et avez-vous trouové une solution ?Voici une capture écran : à gauche on voit les menus Indesign qui sont flous (bien que ce soi

Whenever I open Indesign 2023, v18.1 the Home screen does not display the names and thumbnails of the recent files made.   What should I do to solve this issue?   I tried uninstalling and re-installing but I still encounter this problem.I have set my recent file preferences like this.

He probado a través de diferentes versiones de InDesign, diferentes documentos (viejos y nuevos), he cerrado sesión de Creative Cloud y vuelto a iniciar, he hablado con agentes, nadie de momento me da una solución. ¿A alguien le ha pasado algo parecido? Gracias

Hyperlinks from interactive Pdfs to text anchors in other Pdfs no longer works when exporting from Indesign 19.4 and 19.5 This is a feature we use extensivly and although it still works in 19.3 I'm getting worried that it will fall by the wayside in futures versions. I downloaded the latest Beta and it doesn't work in that either. If you want to recreate the problem I've drawn up a simplified graphic on how I set up these. once you export the iPdfs they should be named the same as the .Indd files and saved in the same folder. How do we go about fixing this? please let me know. 

Dear Support Community,my InDesign (v14.0.3) freezes apprx. 1 second after launching it. It only shows the "Touch Workspace"-overlay and the animation of the finger drawing a rectangle after freezing the program completely. The only way to close InDesign is via task manager.I tried reinstalling, updating, older versions, deleting old files but i can't seem to find a solution.I would be very thankful for any kind of help!Best regards!   {Renamed By MOD}

InDesign for Windows (2023 v18.4 and 2024 v19.5 tested) seem to open files as Read Only when the SMB network share those files reside on have OpLocks (Opportunistic Locks) turned off. InDesign for Mac does not have this problem with same share/protocol to file. The behavior for InDesign for Windows is when you open the file, it creates its IDLK file, then quickly deletes it and file is open as Read Only, making file saves a workflow nightmare. OpLocks must be disabled to accomodate another app (Revit).  No other app seems to have this problem with OpLocks disabled. Is there a workaround or solution to keep OpLocks off on a network share and still have our InDesign for Windows users be able to open their INDD files normally?

Please help!I have a document (book) which I am working on. When I first started it, everything was working properly.  However, now when I try to add a simple straight line using the line tool (to create divisions between blocks of text etc) or add a shape (rectangle) it simply WILL NOT appear on the page!  Obviously, it's not the Object>Arrange>Bring Forward etc - that's the first thing I have tried.  I have tried changing the colour and weight and it makes no difference.  It seems that I have "done something weird" (according to my daughter!)  I am not an expert by any means, but have a little bit of experience.  When I open a new document and try adding a line or shape, it works fine.  So it seems it's something with this document.  Does anyone have any idea what I might have inadvertantly done?

I am making a bige interactive and accessible form in Indesign. I have named al my textfields 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. Taborder is set. I have several pages that include the same sort of questions. (like name, adres, phone etc). So I thougt I just copy some field and textboxes to another page. But what happend is, in stead of auto numbering from where I was... the numbering of the textfields is automaticly set from bottom to top. So my first field is for example 1.20, the next unde that 1.19., 1.18....    Why would Indesign do that? And not number from top to bottom.... This is terrible because I have to set the tab order and all is totally upside down in numbering. How can I fix this? The form is about 85 pages long... so doing it al by hand is a real nightmare!   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi. I have an ID document that I did file/share for review. Got comments, can see them in ID, but I can't locate an accept change or make change "button" like when you import comments from a PDF and ID makes the edit. I can only see, or mark resolved or unresolved. Don't understand the use of this Share feature then... I've used Annotoations by DTP since launch, but the client refuses to make pdf comments, event online acrobat which is frustating me to no end. Thanks in advance.

I have just saved several InDesign documents, all with the same background colour - set as a CMYK colour for consistency. BUT when I export the documents to print as High res PDFs, some of the colour splits on the back ground colour change. Its only random documents, not all of them. I have found a work around - copy all the images etc from the original document, and paste it onto a new document, then it works.  Its not ideal, as it shouldn't happen in the first place.  Thoughts?     <Title renamed by MOD>

I have recently upgraded my Windows 10  system to ID 15.1.1. I commonly have two (or more) documents open and need to switch between them. I normally use Alt-Tab, but sometimes switch by clicking on the other application's tab. Either way, it seems to lock up ID temporarily. If I wait (30-60) seconds, it does make the switch, but this was instantaneous in previous versions and is really slowing my workflow. Any idea how to get this fixed?   {Renamed by MOD}
