Questions

- Many of the artworkers in our studio are experiencing InDesign files intermittently opening as Read-Only on our network. After trying several times of opening and closing the files may open correctly.- The files can be 'Saved As' once opened to save any changes, but will open as Read-Only again straight afterwards.- We have tried adding 'InDesign' to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - 'Full Disk Access' and 'Files & Folders' but it hasn't helped.- We have tried it on SMB and AFP with no change to behaviour- It has been happening with previous versions of InDesign.  We are currently using Indesign 2024.- It effects both intel and M1 & M2 chip computers.Anybody got any ideas other than the ones we have tried please?

My question is about Applescript but I think the issue is the same with Javascript. Can someone confirm that in InDesign 19.5.1 this snippet errors when applied on a vertical graphic line: resize someLine in outer stroke bounds from top left anchor by replacing current dimensions with values {3, 70}   The same goes with a horizontal graphic line with inverted values {70, 3}[error 11269 : the requested value is not an allowed dimension]

Hello.I'm using Adobe Indesign 2023 as for a student. It's about the unlike for PC program's main screen. This version of program Indesign 2024 demonstrates a different workspace UI for tablet user. However, this version for tablet screen doesn't fit for common laptop screen. (Especially when I run on my previous laptop.) In this case, do I have to buy another laptop with touch screen or to change some options?Thank you.   <Title renamed by MOD>

Every time I export my product catalog from InDesign, the images of the products in PNG format appear transparent. The background pattern shows through the bottles. This issue has only started recently. I don’t know what the problem is. Previously, InDesign never had issues with exporting.What is the problem? Hello community, I'm formatting my paper Photo book with some text inside, primary bleed photos.Having this setup, I' getting lost, I need to set up a templateCan someone indicates with a photo if you can, the correct numbers for my template?thanks in advance!- amazon says :"InteriorYour file contains insufficient bleed. See examples PDF page(s) 3 - 5, 112 - 114, 216 - 218. 1. Ensure the page(s) are sized correctly for bleed. Interiors with bleed should have 0.125" (3.2 mm) added to the width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height.2. If the pages are already sized for bleed, make sure you extend any images and backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page at least 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents white gaps along the outside edge(s) when the file is trimmed to size.3. If there is content that is not intended to bleed, please ensure it stops within the margins, 0.375" (9.5 mm) or more from any outside edge of the page."

Very simple indesign page. Text is looking wavy/distorted? Also when exported. Any ideas?  top is example of font at MyFonts, bottom in Indesign file. Second photo is exported jpeg.    I'm not imagining this, right?       <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi, When moving CS6 to a new computer I deactivated the software before uninstalling. I then installed the software on the new computer and it worked. Now, after the summer, InDesign says on startup that my trial has ended. When I try to attach the license it says: "The serial number you entered has been revoked. This product cannot be licensed. Pleas contact Customer Support". I did contact customer support by chat. They started by trying to sell discounted creative cloud subscription based licensed. Maybe a good offer, but for the moment I'm good with the product we own. They then asked for my serial number which I gave to them and they confimed that the serial number was good. I asked why the Adobe software reports it has been revoked. They refused to answer any questins about CS6 because it is end off support and rI was referred to the community forum where they said many experts are available to help. I did everything I could find on the comnunity for

I cannot see the hyperlinks panel on any of my files. It has over ridden with cross references. I cannot see the links I want to put onto the Interactive doc. -I have followed all advises and it defaults back to cross referencing every time. What do I do? I have CS6 and workoing on Windows 10 Pro.Thank you in advance !

I'm looking for a way to automate not just importing PDFs, but importing 2 pdfs per page while also rotating them. Example image below:The red boxes show the two different PDF pages put 2-up on Indesign page. Notice they are also rotated 90 degrees. To accomplish this the rectangle frame for each pdf needs to be set and positioned on each page, then the actual PDF needs to be positioned in that frame so everything can be read. I've done it by hand before, but there's about 160 PDF pages, so automation would be amazing.

I'm setting up a book with special divider pages (carstock instead of standard paper, protruding tabs). How do I set up those special pages? Do I submit them in a separate document?\   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,   I am working with a file where I have one page (7) in a section, followed by a section with 3 pages (8, 9, 10).    In the table of contents, the pages are incorrectly split between the two sections : Attached I am including the Numbering and Sections Options dialogs as well as 2 of the pages.   Can someone please help me reoslve this?   <Title renamed by MOD>  

I am using the PlaceMultiplePagePDF script in InDesign, and it places the pages wonderfully. However, it places those pages outside of the document pages: With "facing pages" unchecked in the doc setup, with a page size of 8.5 x 11", it places each page from the 8 x 10" PDF half on / half off the page, and the placed images are 17 x 10". Why does it do this? If it's not adjustable, how can I resize all the placements at once and center them on their pages? 

I have 100's of Interactive text fields and I'd like to bypass the man hours put into naming each one individually. Is there a script for only the naming of the fields?

Hi all!   I placed a Word document into InDesign and it is not showing up on the actual document besides the first few pages. It is visible in Story Editor. I've tried creating a new document several times and it seems to be a recurring issue. Any ideas? Thank you!    <Title renamed by MOD>

I find that InDesign's EPUB export engine ignores Tabular Lining setting (for Opentype Gotham in this case). It seems that EPUB only supports one default setting as custom fonts with only tabular default, preserve this in EPUB.Any ideas on how I would preserve the tabular setting in EPUB for Gotham?Changing font is not an option.Tabular Lining is used on numbers in correctly constructed tables.   Thank you    <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,    Mac Book Pro, Apple M1, InDesign Version 19.5(latest), no further plugins installed   I try to set a .docx or .rtf Document by CMD + D. The window to choose the document opens. I can choose it and press open. Nothing happens, I don't get the small text symbol to place the text.   I've tried it with several documents, .rtf and .docx. I've tried it with »show import options« on and off. I've already restarted my MacBoox, cleared cache, reinstalled InDesign, searched the whole Internet for solutions, nothing works.   I hope you can help mee     <Title renamed by MOD>

Banging my head on the keyboard over here. I've got a multipage PDF exported from an illustrator file with multiple artboards. Each artboard's dimensions match the InDesign document's page size, yet when I place the PDF it comes in at a tiny thubnail size and super pixelated as well despite Display Performance settings. I'm thinking it's a glitch with the multiple artboards? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi all,   I've got an issue I'm trying to look for a fix for. I've created a file with a ToC that consists of the following hierarchy: H1 > H2 >> H3 I've set the ToC to 'Create PDF Bookmarks'.   In a few instances of the file I've got some headings as follows: H1 >> H3 >> H3>> H3 etc.   When I export the file to PDF, Acrobat takes the first H3 and makes it a H2, so it ends up like this: H1 > H2 >> H3>> H3 etc.   Without changing all the H3s to H2s where this occurs, and without having to adjust the bookmarks manually in Acrobat, is there an easy fix I'm missing such that I can make the change once in the file and have it correctly export?   Many thanks, Glynn     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo!Seit dem letzten Update kann ich keine Dateien mehr auf meinen externen Platten speichern, die per Kabel direkt mit meinem iMac Pro verbunden ist (LaCie 2big Dock Thunderbolt 3, 36 TB Festplatten, USB 3). Ich kann die Dateien öffnen, einmal speichern und ab dann meldet das System eine beschädigte Datei oder die Datei sei in einem anderem Programm geöffnet. Ich kann meine Dateien derzeit überhaupt nicht speichern, was ein großes Problem darstellt. Das Problem besteht nur mit InDesign 2022. Alle anderen Dateien aus den weiteren Creative Cloud Applikationen kann ich problemlos speichern. Ich bereits InDesign 22 und die Cloud deinstalliert und neu installiert. Das Problem besteht weiterhin. Gibt es hierzu irgendeine Lösung? Das wäre sehr hilfreich. Vielen Dank vorab.

This is making me crazy.   It did it on the previous version as well.     I create a document, add mail merge fields then save and merge.  No problem.  The second time I open the document and mail merge, ID crashes.   I am using Win 11, ID 2024, Tab separated values in a .txt file.     I merge to a PDF file. Any suggestions?   I do a monthly newsletter and it drives me crazy that I have to recreate the basic template each time I want to merge.
