I was working on a project a few months back, and am revisiting it now. Except all the .mp4 video files I had been using previously are no longer importing.The files were moved to different folders, but when I try and locate them I get an error message saying "The importer reported a generic error." If I try importing them directly, I get a different error message saying "Unsupported format or damaged file." I get a similar error when importing to After Effects reading: "After Effects error: File "name" cannot be opened, it may be in an unsupported format. ( 86 :: 1 )".However, the videos are all playable in VLC Media Player without issue. I'm working with PremierePro 2025 on Windows 10; I've cleared the Media Cache, I've tried moving the files back to their original folders, I've tried redownloading fresh versions of the videos, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, but nothing is working. I am editing PNG sequences, but it is stuttering like crazy.my media files are on a 7200rpm HDD. I tested it with a speed disk test, and it can do around 130MB/s, read and write, witch should be sufficient. But when I'm editing, it is very laggy, and my windows task manager says that my HDD is at 100% utilisation even though it is caping at 50MB/seach PNG i'm using is around 3500 ko. So according to my math, I should be able to use this HDD to eddit.Is it normal? Is it impossible to use an HDD to eddit PNG sequences? Should I invest in an SSD?

Hi, I’ve been encountering an issue in Premiere Pro where, from time to time, exporting my project doesn’t result in a proper MP4 file. Instead, I end up with separate M4V and AAC files, along with a small MP4 file that contains audio only. This happens randomly and seems inconsistent—sometimes it takes three or four export attempts before it finally works as intended. This is not only frustrating but also quite time-consuming, especially when working on tight deadlines. I’ve double-checked my export settings, and everything seems to be set up correctly. I primarily export using the H.264 preset and haven’t made any unusual customizations. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any reliable workarounds or solutions I might not have considered? Hi, I'm trying to export a 38-minute video, the export goes fine. But after the export, the video shows as 290000 kb large but 0 minutes long.  I don't know what the problem is!?

Hey, as shown in the photo below, my elements aren't split with any borders? So here is actually three different text elements, but it looks like one continuous element. So... is this a new feature in Premiere Pro 25.1.0? 

Sorry, my english is so so... I am a temporary user and want to finish one project and I am not getting there. I add clips to my sequenz and after a few (in this case three) every other clip I add to it, it is completely zoomed in and half the content is not visable because it is too close. I have not changed anything the clips are all the same source and I havent touched any buttons i dont know. I tried restarting, starting a new project and try all over again... it keeps on happening. what am I doing wrong. Using premier cc latest update. Screenshot attached

I started out in Premiere 5.1.  A long time ago, yes.  But I've been in and out of PP over the years and getting back in is always a "relearn"  A couple of years ago I moved up to the then current version of CS and had to start with the most basic of tutorials, how to preview.  Now, I'm having to get back into Premiere again. I did the update (2025 version 25.1.0) and added my clips, but couldn't filnd the audio controls!  I had sound, but I could't control it.  Back to the tutorials one more time. But, perhaps because I had run then when I first moved to CS a few years ago, the files it loaded for the getting started lesson, have no audio (nothing identified in Properties and no sound when run in media player) and the files get inserted into a "new" project with 5 hour+ time codes.  Went back to my own project and tried to find a simple fade from black and couldn't find those controls.  As much as I hate to, I guess I'll have to go back to the t

When Im trying to type Chinese subtitles, it keeps on repeating itself in English and making a whole mess if I continue to type in the words that I want.   Is this a bug or a problem that you guys face too? I know not alot of people type Chinese subtitles but still I need some help. It's annoying and inefficient.

My short film was color graded with DaVinci and exported as a .MOV file then imported into Pr for the film's assembly.  So I know the color graded .MOV file already looked great. But somehow upon exporting the final version from Premiere it loses color and saturation. I know similar subject matter has been posted before but it seemed to do with monitor differences. I never color corrected using Pr in this case. Please help! 

This Adobe stock template was working fine and suddnely I cant replace the image place holder from the finder or any other way? Can anyone please help? This is awful!  

All I want to do is 2 simple things: 1) Create subtitles on my video2) put a back background on them with white writing And it has taken me 4 hours so far and I still can't work out how to do it.All youtube videos are out of date because adobe removed the "essential control" pannelsI pay £30 a month for spending 4 hours trying to find out how to do a simple thing and still I don't know how to do it. I have been to properties tab and it does not let me add background to my captions. If anyone can shed any light on what I need to do then please do so.  Hello everyone, I have a problem with creating proxys. Once the media encoder opens, the videos do not get encoded automatically, they switch to status: failed. The error display tells me that the output directery could not be found. does anyone have a Idea what would be helpful to make sure that the proxies dont fail anymore.(see picture 1.)  Another problem that I have is: the premiere file that was cut on a 2019 version cannot open in a 2024 version. It works for seconds but then premiere automatically shuts down. How can I fix this? 

I am a novice user but can't find a tutorial to explain. I have edited my 25 go pro clips in advance and want to get to the exciting parts in the timeline, but have to guess the timings of my ripple deletes by doing mental arthimatic  while I'm editing the timeline. Is there a way to display the clips' original timings to make my edits easier? Thank you. 

Hi, I'm creating an outro of exactly 5 seconds, 30 fpsthe last frame always turns black, how can I fix this?when I trim that last black frame, the one next to it turns black, and so on @@ I don't want the viewers to see a black screen at the end.

Hi everyone !   We’ve been having quite a few issues when rendering equirectangular 3840x1920 video with "Error Compiling Movie". Error Code -1609629695.   Some times it'd be an "Accelerated Renderer Error (unable to produce frame)", seems Premiere itself is to blame.   And other times it'd be a "GPU Render Error (Unable to process frame)", apparently triggered by the After Effects compositions linked to the project.   Both errors are coded as -1609629695.   This error code happens in some specific Premiere projects, not in all of them. Any suggestions on project parameters we could change to make it work?   We've tried a lot of different options: uninstall and re-installing all software from scratch, switching different Adobe accounts, rendering in an external hard drive and in local, standardizing frame rate. Has anyone had this problem before? Other forum threads suggest installing all software from scratch but it hasn't worked for us so far.   Tha

all i see both on the source panel and on the program panel is either black or gray screen. i can still hear the Audio but the video isnt showing.i tried all the Recommendations for fixing it through YouTube (nothing really helped)can someone help? am i the only one it happened to? i added a photo for understanding

Hey everyone,  I've been doing a lot of blurring recently, and i'm often encountering this issue whereby the Gaussian blur effect won't track forward. See the attached screenshot. I draw my mask, hit track selected mask forward (or whatever the exact wording is) and then I get stuck in this tracking progress screen, where no progress is ever made. How can I fix this?  Thanks!Fin  

Hello,  I've been an avid Premiere Pro user for about 8 years now, and for 6 years I have been using Premiere Pro as my career as an editor. This 2024 update is the worst I've ever seen in all my years of editing. This was a huge step back and if I didn't have to be on the newest update for my job I would revert back to 2023.   Where do I start...to begin with, something simple yet so annoying is the audio transitions, with the new updated look of premiere it is now a pain in the butt to move a constant power left or right. Constantly it grabs the clip or the audio gain and moves it instead. It feels like a puzzle just trying to move audio transitions.   Next we'll move on to the crashing. I haven't had a timeline crash in YEARS, yet this new update is so unoptimized even with a 5k dollar pc with a RTX4090 I still will have to make multiple recovery project files for any video that peaks over 30 minutes. Hi guys, I am new and have now read and watched a lot about fps. I'm currently on my first project and I have 24fps footage and 60fps footage that I want to edit now. It is recommended to create a 24fps timeline for the 24fps material and reduce the speed of the 60fps material by 40% in order to get a nice slow motion effect for some scenes. So far so good.  Now I would have liked to leave some 60fps scenes at regular speed because it looks good in some scenes, but 60fps at regular speed in a 24fps timeline doesn't work without stuttering. Now I have created a 60fps timeline, my 60fps material obviously looks good and I also can play 60fps scenes at regular speed without slowing it down, but so does my 24fps material. Why is that?  In short, my 24fps footage looks just as good in a 24fps timeline as it does in a 60fps timeline. Why? Is it because I use a TV with 100/120hz? On YouTube videos they show examples, but my 24fps material still looks good. I

I start by creating a new sequence, 1080 x 1920 (for Instagram)I drag the 4k footage to the timeline and I click on "Keep existing settings"The footage, instead of being in 4k, is automatically being converted to 1080p.The problem is that it's now getting automatically scaled to 100%. Previously, it would be in 4k, which would give me the ability to zoom in and get different angles/etc.It's important to note, that when I do this same test on 1920 x 1080, it works properly (the 4k footage remains in 4k). However, the issue only exists when I change it to 1080 x 1920.If anyone has suggestions, please advise. MacOS, 12.6.5Premiere Pro 23.4.0 (Build 56)
