I'm currently producing Webhelp using RoboHelp 2019 (classic) version 14.0.9.004 on Windows 8.1, however I first experienced the issue using RoboHelp 2017 (on Windows 8.1). Context sensitivity works fine if the help is opened from a web server or from a file server. When opened locally, everything is normal, no problems with Search or TOC etc. except it always opens to the default page--no context sensitivity. When the help opens, the context sensitive piece of the help call is missing. This is true for IE, Chrome, and Firefox. I've tried adjusting various settings in Internet Options (through IE), setting the Mark of the Web, and (out of frustration) setting combinations of pretty much every other option on RoboHelp's Output Navigation page above the toolbar buttons. No luck. I've seen other similar posts but they seem to occur with a specific browser or are missing components like the TOC. Not the case here. Everything works but the context sensitivity. Does anyone have any suggestio
Hi,Does anybody know if it's possible to remove only the "Index"-button in Microsoft HTML Help in Robohelp 2019?With the new interface "TOC & Index" is put together in the Window-settings, so if I leave the box blank both of them disappears. Is there a way to delete "index" only?Thankful for all the help I can get! BR,Kajsa
I can't seem to figure out how to create a nested bulleted list in RoboHelp 2019. I have a style Disc, which formats a simple bulleted list nicely.I made a copy of that style, which I labeled "ul.subbullet," thinking that I could simply edit it to get an indented second-level list. In the Properties panel, I have set Level = Level 2. When I try to set Style = circle," it keeps popping back to the disc setting! I set the list-indent value higher so the second-level list will indent. Every time I apply this style to my second-level text, it changes the style in the main list too. So, then the entire list is formatted to the ul.subbullet style. If I go back up to the first bullet in the main style and apply Disc, the entire list changes to the Disc style. I am expecting that if I select the first bullet, apply Disc, i should get Disc style. If I apply ul.subbullet to the next two paragraphs, they should display in the ul.subbullet style. But this is not working. What am I
Hi, RH2019.0.9 (New, not classic) bookmark linksBased on the Frameless Skin Oceanic, it seems that bookmarks are not scrolling anymore to the exact location of the bookmark. It seems that in the layout the grey bar (the second from above, the one with the buttons Expand All etc.) is not being taking into account, since when I use a bookmarklink I have to scroll up 1 or 2 rules to get to the exact location of the bookmarks. popupsOn a long page (longer than the screen), a popup will not be displayed anymore at the location where you clicked the popup-link. You will have to scroll up to see the popup.I think it was before also an issue in the responsive skin, but was solved in that skin.I now 'solved' it temporarily by removing the 'position: absolute' for the .rh-popover in the layoutDiff.css Best regards, Dirk
I tried configuring TFS with RH 2019 using the link https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/tfs.html. I get this error "The application has run into an error. Please save your unsaved changes and restart from menu: The connection profile is not even listed in the connection. Can someone help
(RH2019.0.9 New UI) What's the pdf page box model in combination with the pdf master page? If I position a logo absolute in the header and then adjust the margin of the header line below it, the logo shifts up...? Apparently the positioning isn't towards the page but towards the header top, which can shift up just by adjusting the margin of a <p> element in the header? I would expect the margin towards the page would be set in stone by the page margin in the output preset parameters. It took quite a bit of trial and error to get the positioning of floating elements in the header and footer right. It's OK now, but honestly I don't know why 🙂 Is there any page somewhere that describes the pdf page box model? Most pages I could find just explain how the GUI works but I'd like to know which parameters have an influence on, or override, other parameters.
There have been a few postings about this problem but no definitive solution... I can successfully connect to SharePoint from RH 2019 from a PC connected directly to the Internet and use that as a version control repository. However, I'm unable to connect from a client-site despite ports 80 and 443 being open. At that site, I'm able to access the SharePoint 365 folders from a web browser and I can use other applications such as OneNote to connect and access other OneDrive and SharePoint resources at the same cloud location. When you attempt to create a RH2019 Connection Profile, I am redirected to Microsoft to sign into my account. The sign-in process is successful, but the Save button always remains inactive. The forward proxy is set correctly in Internet Explorer settings. I have checked if any URLs are blocked by the proxy based on addresses listed in other postings, but I've not found a problem. I was hoping it might be fixed in Update 6, but I'm still unable t
Hi, RH2019.0.9 (New, not classic) Based on the Oceanic skin, and making extensively use of drop-downs with snippets in it, I noticed a strange compatibility issue with Edge. When using search, and the search term is somewhere within a drop-down text, hitting the search result will open the drop-down text (which is in fact a snippet), and will show the search result as a yellow marked term: this is the expected behavior, and is working fine with Chrome and FireFox.With Edge, an odd thing happens: after hitting the search result, the drop-down text will open, but then it will open the snippet itself (really the complete snippet, as it is also published in the assets folder). Since the (original) snippets are not really needed to be published, I now deleted that folder, so Edge will try to open something was isn't there anymore (which is now better, than displaying the original snippet, with all kind of information that is not meant to be published). It is just a notice, I'm not expecting
RoboHelp has released a new patch update 08 through which we can generate clean URLs using frameless output. My query is : We want to remove #t in URLs that are auto generated by earlier version of Adobe Robo help tool. https://tutorial.gst.gov.in/userguide/registration/index.htm#t=Apply_for_Registration_Normal_Taxpayer.htm Can this be done in Adobe Robo Help 2019 Patch 8? If yes, how?
I share Robohelp with another user storing our completed files on a share drive. My license is Robohelp 2017 na d the other user has Robohelp 2015. When either of us submit updates, the other user's previous updates disappear. Previoulsy this arrangement worked fine when both users had Robohelp 2015. Do both user have to use the same version of Robohelp or is there something else that may cause this to happen? Thank you
I apologize if this has already been answered. I couldn't find a post that directly answered this, but I saw folks mention that they had RoboHelp Server 10 installed on Server 2016. Is RoboHelp Server 10 officially supported on Windows Server 2016? The last online documentation dated 9/11/2017 still lists Server 2012 R2 as the highest supported server OS (though it does support Windows 10). Thanks!
Hi there,As I understood, snippets are a good way to re-use content. However, it seems not to be possible to include snippets into continuous text without a line break. Is there some way to accomplish this? Or would it be better to use variables instead?Best regardsKarin
I'm using RoboHelp 2015 (I have an upgrade to RH 2019) and I publish Responsive HTML5 output. I have 4 RoboHelp projects: Platform X, Product A, Product B, and Product C. The content for Platform X is one book: Getting Started with Platform X. I would like to generate 3 help outputs: 1) Platform X and Product A; 2) Plaform X and Product B; 3) Platform X and Product C. 1) Is there an easy way to pull in the content from the Platform X project to all of the Product projects and publish? 2) Can I easily include links from Product topics to Platform X topics? (because the topics will be available eventually, but maybe not when I develop content.) As a manual process, when I'm ready to release a help for a product (for example Product A), I can create the Platform X book and blank topic files. Using Explorer, I can copy the topics with content (and approriate images) from the Platform X file folder to the Product A file folder to make them available in the Product A project and generate the
I am using RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.4.460) with Perforce version P4V/NTX64/2019.1/1815056. I cannot open new projects from version control within RH. In RH, I click File > Open Project > Version Control. In the Select Version Control Provider dialog box, I click Perforce SCM and then click OK. The system hangs and doesn't go on to display the Open Connection dialog box. I close RH using Task Manager. Someone else on our documentation team opens the project from version control within RH so that it appears in the Perforce Depot.I copy the P4.scc file to the project folder in my workspace and then open the RH project. The Get Latest Version dialog box appears.I click Yes and the project opens without issue. Following are my RH settings.Anyone know how to fix this issue?
RH14.0.9 I'm trying to create a pdf output that looks something like this: I'm running into the following problems: Chapter and section numbering in the body:I cannot get chapter numbering at all. I've tried a before: counter for <h1> in the pdf CSS but then all chapters are numbered '1' (one). I haven't even tried section numbering yet until that is resolved. Applying an automatic <h1>, <h2>, <h3> etc. depending on the place in the TOC:All my topics (also the subsections have their own separate topics) start with <h1>. The generated TOC shows the correct indentation but the topics themselves stay at <h1> for each heading. I would have hoped this was generated automatically, but currently I fear my only option is to use one topic for every complete chapter, and apply the H1, H2 myself. Is that correct, or is there another way? If the chapter and section numbering can be resolved, would it be possibe to refer to them with a dynamically generat
Hello, If I change the name of a folder in the project manager, will that affect the context sensative help? Would it require any changes on the developers side? Or would the Map file automatically take care of the update? We have a pretty old project that has a lot of folder names that no longer make much sense (they probably made sense at the time they were created). Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Running RH2019.9 new. We have a number of legacy release notes in PDF format. We generate two versions of our help project: private/internal and public/external. I'd like to include these PDF files in the private/internal version, but exclude them when I generate the public/external version - likely using conditional build tags. However, I'm not sure this functionality exists. So, is there a way to add/import these PDF files into a RH2019 project and then apply CBTs to them to control their inclusion when generating help output? I have a potential workaround if the preferred option doesn't work, though it's not perfect: use a build tag on the topic (or content) that contains the links to the PDF files in question, and then remove the switch to include PDF files in search when generating the output. The problem with this is that it'll exclude other PDF files that we want public/external to be able to access via search.
Hi all I am using RH 2019 and have a problem with some drop down text instances. Instead of having to click the drop down link, the text is already displayed below the link. In the source, the drop down is empty - the text I put in it has moved from the text box to below the text in the main topic. Other links in the topic work ok. This is happening randomly throughout the project. I've tried comparing the HTML but my head is spinning now and I wondered if anyone else had come across this? Any ideas much appreciated Laura
I am supporting a user, who when creating a new project in Robohelp 2019 he gets this error message. Application Error This application has run into an error. Please save your unsaved changes and restart from menu Help>Restart RoboHelp He is using windows 10 version 1809 I have reinstalled the application and he still getting the same error. Thank you for your help
I have a translator that uses Trados to translate .html files. For 10 years, I never had any issues with any of her files. In the last year or so (since upgrading to RH2017 and RH2019), I've had issues with files that contain drop-down text. When I replace her translated files with the ones I sent, all the drop-down text is gone. It's very frustrating! I've had to resort to copying and pasting the translations in the original files which is very time consuming. I reached out to Tech Support but they didn't have an answer. I've opened her translated files in Notepad++ and the drop down text is there but when it's opened in RH, it's gone. Has anyone else had issues with files translated using Trados and if so, did you find a solution?
I am using Robohelp 2019.0.9. On the Output tab, Webhelp option is not appearing.
RH 14.0.9, new UI, Responsive HTML5 output. When I search for some words that are clearly available in a topic, it does not find the topic (there are no stop words defined). I even have added the word as separate search keyword, but to no avail. Other search words work fine. Note however that if I search for "give badge" it finds "give" but still not "badge". I can't figure out why some words seem to be banned (I don't have any stop words defined)? The word "badge" that I search for appears a lot in many topics, could it be that there are too many hits? But why does it give me zero hits then instead of "too many"? And why doesn't it find the word when specified further with another word? Or finds just the topic where it has been added as a specific keyword? Anyone know how the search algorithm works?
We're investigating switching to RH2019. In particular the search offers what our users have been repeatedly asking for in terms of auto fill, fuzzy logic etc.The pages returned by the search are as expected. BUT the context displayed in the search results, and the place the page scrolls to on clicking the search link aren't what we want in many cases, and give a confusing result for users, such that we would stay with classic. For example we have a page called Gardens , with heading 1 at the top "Private Gardens", and some high level text which would be appropriate as context. However the context, and the place linked to by the search, is far deeper within the page and the displayed context potentially misleading about the overall content. I'm assuming it's going to where the density of the search word is the greatest. It's cool to go to the 1st location of the search word on a page, but not the 20th or so instance of it!Is there a way to make the search just return a link to the top of
Hi all, I just came across an odd error in our generated HTML version (we use a customised Responsive HTML5 output). When searching a topic via the search function, it is possible to click the topic and it is opened in the correct layout. But when I open the topic in a new tab (right-click > Open in New Tab entry), the topic’s layout is ruined completely. The layout can be restored by clicking Click here to view the page in full context, but I’d like to have the correct layout without this intermediate step. This error only occurs recently, after we have updated our RoboHelp system from version 11 to RoboHelp 2017. The extract from the source shows that RoboHelp processes another CSS file. But I’m not sure why and how I can change that (if not manually for all projects). Correct layout: <!DOCTYPE HTML><html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="de-D
Hi Everyone, I use Adobe RoboHelp 2019 Update 9 (Version 14.0.9) including the Hotfix from https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/hotfix-for-robohelp-update-9-2019-release.html and encountered the following problem:I have a simple html file "First_Topic.htm" which includes a text containing different characters.(I slightly modified the file "First_Topic.htm" which was generated when creating a new RoboHelp project.)When I generate a Responsive HTML5 output and search for a keyword (e.g. "topic"), in the search result, characters like the plus sign (+) or round brackets are removed.Furthermore, it seems that paragraphs (<p></p>) are removed as well or at least will be displayed with a smaller margin.I currently only encountered the problem in the context of plus signs, round brackets, and paragraphs, but other characters and html tags may be affected as well.I attached a picture to illustrate the problem showing the original content and the content after clicking on the
