RoboHelp

I'm taking over an extensive HTML project with lots and lots of task topics. I see many places where a previous step is referenced and hard coded. I would like to create cross references that automatically update if I need to insert other steps. I don't see anything here or in RH help about creating such cross references. I suspect that I have to add a bookmark to the referenced step and then create a hyperlink to it. Is that the case? If so, how clunky that is. If not, please let me know how to create these cross references.Thanks.

I'm using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 5. I've got two FrameMaker 12 books, each linked to its own RoboHelp HTML 11 project, and I'm generating two separate .CHM files.I'm trying to figure out how to create a hyperlink from one .CHM file to a specific topic in the other .CHM file. The two .CHM files are going to be in the same directory, but customers have the option of installing both .CHM files in any directory they choose, so I need to use a relative path name.Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,My project has all the topics linking from Word documents. It has a lot of folders like the figure. From one document I need to link it to another topic in the project.I do that using "Insert Hyperlink...", but when I generate the HTML5 Layout it doesn't work.Can you tell me Why?Thanks a lotSara.

I Currently Use Robohelp 9 Client to publish my documentation. We have Robohelp 9 server but the IT person can't  make it work.We got Robohelp 10 Server about 8 months from our procument team so I am wondering If I could publish from Robohelp 9 client and use Robohelp 10 server?System Attributes:RoboHelp HTML V9.0RoboSourceControl 3.1RoboHelpServer V9.0WebHelpPro 9.0.1.262

I'm new to RoboHelp 11, and I am finding it difficult to alphabetize topics listed under my Index Keywords. When I look at the keyword topics in my RoboHelp HTML editor, they are listed in alphabetical order (see the Tools topic in the first image), but when I generate WebHelp the Tools topics are not in the correct order (second image). I believe that the problem pertains to new entries made to a converted RoboHelp Version 6 WebHelp application. Basically, I have been adding content to several old version 6-generated html files in the new RoboHelp HTML editor. Another issue that's perplexing is the fact that the Move Up and Move Down icons at the top of the Index editor pod, or whatever it's called, are grayed-out (not functioning). I remember with the Version 6 application, they worked fine.Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to get the index alphabetized? I appreciate your help.

I am using RH v11.0.4 This is what displays when webhelp for this project is opened. Notice that the left TOC is outdated (Release Notes for 2015); the right TOC is as it should be.This issue is specific to one project. Other webhelp projects generate and display the TOC correctly.I contacted RoboHelp support and gave them access to my desktop and a copy of the problem project. The support analyst couldn't identify why this issue occurred. His solution was to open Project Set-up pod and create a new window. Although I watched closely and took notes, I cannot recreate his result in my actual project.Does anyone know what caused this issue?ThanksJackie

What are the benefits of using a wiki vs publishing projects in robohelp? I currently use RH9/RH9 Server and  publish multiple SSL.  The company is looking to stop using Robohelp and replace our online help authoring tool  (RH) with a wiki. Are there any benefits of going to a wiki environment.  What RH features/functions that I have today will i not have by having IT import our robohelp files into a wiki?I know that a wiki is not an authoring tool, but someone must think it is and we'll still have all the functionality of publishing multiple SSLs, reports, etc once in the wiki environment.  Any comments - is this the best route?

(still RH 9 in this case - cannot switch easily) I have a merged HTML Help project.The single subprojects contain .h files with#define Länge 1803among others. In the single subproject all Map ids are listed (as blue icon).In the merged central project (which includes the TOCs of the single subprojects)exactly those MAP Ids which contain at least one Umlaut are missing (marked yellow).How does the mechanism of merging the MAP Ids work? I also have one central .ali file which has been compiled together manually,since the Redirect.1.htm:ms-its: thing was missing.I'm clueless at the moment.Any ideas welcome,--Christoph

Hello. I am inheriting a project from another developer in RoboHelp 2015. It's been years since I last looked at this project, and it's evolved on its own under his purview.One thing that has happened is that a conditional build tag apparently has some additional names (synonyms?). For example, when I assign the tag for JAA_Mo_Kan, the HTML updates to:<meta name="build tags" content="JAA_Mo_Kan,MoKan_SMW,MoKan_SMW" />This tag itself is harmless, I'm sure, but I keep getting error messages with a different CBT. The first name is correct, but the second (and possibly more?) names consist of several non-English characters interspersed with illegal characters. While the sample code I included is innocuous enough, I'm struggling with another tag. Maybe even more than one?I'd like to keep the original names of these tags, so I'd like to focus on cleaning these tags up. I cannot find in RoboHelp where I can remove synonyms.

Hello everyone!I am struggling with an odd situation and I cannot find a solution online: every time I re-generate the SSL (Responsive HTML5), the csh.js file (found in SSL > Responsive_HTML5 > whxdata) is overwritten. This is fine, however the information about map IDs and context-sensitive topics is deleted from the file. The text that remains is: gXMLBuffer ="<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><csh-info></csh-info>";. I do not know what I am doing wrong, is there a setting, or an option I should select? The .h file still contains all the map ids. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Hi, I have a couple of questions related to mms.cfg file1) We have multiple versions of Adobe Flash Player running in our systems. Hi,I re-installed the Adobe Technical Communication Suite two days ago, since all systems in my company were formatted. I have started working with Robohelp. As you probably know, the core JS files for Responsive HTML5 output are minified (rh.min.js, common.min.js, layout.min.js, topic.min.js etc.). Do you think there's any chance that Adobe will distribute the original versions of these files? This would greatly increase the options for experienced users and web developers to customize and optimize the HTML5 output for the individual customer's needs. I know opening up source code is a difficult issue, but as the JS files are still highly dependent on the (closed source) RoboHelp application, I think the opportunities by far outweigh the risks.

How can I get the new project name to display in the title bar of the help file?I have a project that has been renamed under File | Rename Project.I have gone into Project | Project Settings | General and changed the Project Title there.I have renamed the TOC and Index files to the new name.When I generate the Microsoft HTML Help (Primary Output) the help screen has the old project name in the title bar.I created a new output file and the results were the same...old project name appeared in the title bar of the Help window.What am I missing?

Help! I added a large number of glossary entries to a RoboHelp glossary today. Then I accidentally clicked the "Discard Changes" button. To my utter horror, I sat and watched helplessly as RoboHelp deleted some untold number of entries. I save regularly, but it looked to me like a number of entries were deleted. Is there any way to recover the deleted entries?

I am using Robohelp 2017. I've created a paragraph style for notes. That's how I did: I would like to create a list usings dashes (nonbreaking hyphens). I have many helps that are already using this style.When I export to CHM file it appears OK, no problems. So far so good. I haven't noticed before because I was only exporting to CHM format. The problem is that when I generate to HTML5 output my dashes become numbers! Why does it happen? How do I solve it? 

Anyone else having this problem?...while browsing using internet explorer and Window 10 I periodically get this prompt.  Note it does not appear to be from Adobe as it comes from a website www.ayeeckids.org which does not seem to exist when you try to go to it directly.   I have simply been hitting cancel and it goes away for a few days but then comes back.  How do I get this to stop!I'm on the latest version of Win 10 and according to Adobe's website am current and up to date.   Thanks for any help you can offer in getting this to stop and helping me remove this if I've been infected by a virus of some kind. Hello,What is the best way to create/access a reoccurring note icon in a project that may be updated in Robohelp (2015/HTML5)?I am thinking saved and inserted as an image. As long as the naming convention remains the same any changes to the icon would be updated automatically across all topics. But someone on my team is wondering if it might be easier to manage as a snippet.Thanks

Hello! Any help with this would be appreciated.Currently I am using the WebHelp to CHM Converter function in RoboHelp so that I can apply a skin to my project. However, when I open the CHM file I noticed that the text format for certain topics have been overridden. For example, my headings appear as basic text, and bullet points and color fonts are gone as well. Images are missing as well in the project. When I generate the chm normally, the format is there, but images are still missing. Is there a fix to this? I really need to use this tool as our company is trying to update our online help by using skins and keeping the chm file. Can anyone think of a cause for the format changing like this?ThanksAbigail

It seems I'm lost when trying to invoke Help in Robohelp 9. Typing in some search items "links TOC" gives a link "we  moved to a new place".You get lost trying to find anything on Robohelp there."Lost in translation"

Is there a way to list all topics that contain a particular condition tag? Using RH2015.I'm sure I've done it in the past but cannot remember how.Thank you.

I have a subscription to RoboHelp 2015 and I have installed the product (version 12.0.2.384) on my desktop PC.  Now I would like to install the same version of RoboHelp on my laptop, which I understand I am allowed to do as long as I do not use both copies at the same time.  But I cannot find a way of downloading a copy of that version on my laptop.  The only option available seems to download a new trial version of RoboHelp, which would then be RoboHelp 2017.  What can I do to install RoboHelp 2015 on my laptop?  Thanks in advance for any answer.

Willam van Weelden​Hi William - we've been using your Twisty functionality in our documentation projects for a few months now and it's looking great - thank you. We would like to switch to the one button method now but instead of the Show/Hide button images we would like to do this with single text links where you have the "Show All" text link by itself, then when clicked you just have "Hide All" by itself. Is there an easy way to implement this? I am no expert in javascript but I have done some research and testing but am unable to get it working. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or js code that you could share.As always, your help and expertise is greatly appreciated.

For context-sensitive help popups it is possible to assign a map-id to a topic and invoke it at runtime through an alias mechanism.What is the allowed range for thes map ids? I would say a number >=0 but what's the upper limit?
