Hi all, I use Robohelp 2022 to create help files for my Windows-based desktop app. With the next version of the App I plan to make the help file available online on a server, rather than using local CHM files. The help content is sometimes shown embedded in windows within the App itself. The App itself can be switched between light and dark themes. So a couple of questions: * Any recommendations on what Robohelp skins to use that would work well with light and dark themes? * I have only just started using Robohelp 2022 and I'm not yet very familiar with how to customize styles. I have been using the Responsive HTML5 output so far. Any thoughts on whether to use that or Frameless? The built in styles seem quite limited, and I'm wondering to what extent I can edit them? * Is it possible to output a single set of help pages with Robohelp, but switch among light and dark themed skins by having the App point to different
I use RH 2019.0.14. I can successfully generate a PDF, but when I try to publish in Responsive HTML 5 - it gets stuck on indexing attachments. I've created another TOC with no attachments, and it works great. With one attachment, it's fine, but it lags with more than one. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.
I am using RH2020 - does anyone know of a way to remove the home page? I would prefer to have my first page be the first topic page.
I am neediing to import several hundred Word files into Robohelp 2022 and the majority of these files have Bulleted list, numbered lists and multilevel lists (75% of the source files I will be importing will containt one or all 3). I'm the only p erson to work in these source files and I'm the one who setup the list style in Word for the multilevel list and created the styles for the different levels of the bulleted and numbered lists. For the multilevel list I created a list style in Word called KEES Multilevel List and inside this list style, I set up levels 1 -4 for the number formats and placement and linked each of thse levels to Word styles that I also created called ParaNum1, ParaNum2, ParaNum3 and ParaNum4. So, in effect, the list style controls the number alignment and format and the ParaNum1-4 controls the text settings for after the number and the 2nd line wrap settings for each level. I've imported a few of the
I am importing a Word file that contains all of the styles that I want to use for my project. I've also created a css for this project (I called it SampleKEES.css) and a .wsf file (also called SampleKEES.wsf). I am looking at the instructions from https://www.grainge.org/RoboHelp_Tour/rh2022/authoring/importing_linking.htm for reference on how to do this. I get the Word file imported so I see the htm file and I see the topic_css that Peter's instructions talk about. The instructions below say to "cut it fromthere and paste into your main CSS. How do I "cut it from there"? Do I right click on something and choose copy and then go somewhere else and choose paste? I just don't understand where it's directing me to go and what do when I get there. This is the part in his instructions that I'm getting stuck (specifically "you can cut it from there and paste into main CSS" in the below paragraph) Any clarificati
Has anyone found strange code like the following being added to the beginning of a topic in RoboHelp 2022? I cannot pinpoint when this happens, but I notice it when I try to generate a word doc with the topic because it generates an error. I have seen this at least three of four times since upgrade. I am most definintely not adding this code myself and I can verify that it was added since my last edit (also in RoboHelp 2022) by looking at git. <p><span><span contenteditable="false" style="height: 0px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; display: block; z-index: 9999; color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 0px; line-height: 0px; position: absolute; border-top: 1px dashed rgb(0, 116, 217); user-select: none; left: 0px; right: 0px; top: 439px;"><span style="width:0px;height:0px;padding:0px;margin:0px;display:block;z-index:9999;color:#fff;position:absolute;font-size: 0px;line-height:0px;border-color:transparent;display:block;border-style:solid;right:0px;border-right-c
I'm trying to upgrade to RoboHelp 2022. I am outputting a Word document and I map styles from my topic CSS file to Word styles. This worked fine in RoboHelp 2020. But in RoboHelp 2022, I no longer see the styles from my topic CSS file in the RoboHelp Style column, so I can't complete my mappings and the output document doesn't look like it should.
Hello,I'm using the Studio theme with RH2022. We have Header links and depending on where you are in the project, the links either shift below the project title, or overlap it. This occurs when the window is not full screen and the header resizes.Other than removing the links altogether, how do I prevent it from overlapping? They do NOT overlap when viewing the Home Page. They DO overlap when viewing a Topic Page. And that's what most people see. There is only one setting that I see to define those, but they render differently depending on Home/Topic pages. Is there something I'm defining incorrectly on the Topic page which causes this? Thanks!
Hi all,I'm using RoboHelp 2023 and I'm having an issue where the Save to PDF print feature or using a Printed Documentation output results in the master page footer appearing on it's own page before the topic contents. It also does not respect my year variable (yyyy) in the footer. I've been up and down the settings but can't seem to find anything. I know I can manually rearrange the pages, but that can be a pain. Any ideas? Thanks all.
Hi everybody, does someone know how can I change the output container size in Responsive HTML5 Indigo layout? In the Indigo output I can see a large blank margin left and margin right. I would to use all the screen width.
I have a project in RoboHelp 2022 publishing to Frameless that includes Conditional Tags that I have added as Dynamic Content Filters. We use these filters so staff can quickly find items that apply to their audience type(s).The filters work perfectly in locating topics; however, I've run into an issue when users use these filters and then try using the email share option. The URL that is attached to the email includes the Dynamic Content Filter selected:If someone tries to use the URL that is emailed, it will launch the correct website. The topic details will display for a few seconds; however, it then disappears and states "This topic is filtered out by the selected filters". I'm not sure how to correct this issue and am looking for any ideas.
version - RH 2022.3.93Output preset - Frameless---For some reason, a few writers want the dropdowns to auto-expand upon loading the page. I can achieve this for an individual dropdown with the attribute data-expanded="true".***Before I loop through all dropdowns in my project, I'd like to ask if I'm not overcomplicating things and if there is a simpler way of doing this?
Hey, all! I'm a science-writer-turned-technical-writer. I'm a brand new RoboHelp user, training with some Adobe tutorials. I'm a little concerned--several tutorials now have shown options I don't have when exporting a PDF. I'm missing settings from the Layout section, and there is just no Master Pages option. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there an easy fix?
Hello all,I'm using RH 2022.3.93 on Windows and I'm trying to export my doc to a Word output preset. The problem I'm having is that on the preset > Word tab, there's no [obvious] way to map my UL or OL elements to a style in the .dotx file. Neither are showing up in the Style Mapping table's paragraph tab (or any other tab). The RH files have both styles, and the styles are defined in the dotx file and the Word template's .css files. The resulting Word file makes my numbered and bulleted lists the "Normal" style. I'd rather not have to change them manually. Is there a trick to this I'm not seeing? Thanks!
Hi, Our company is about to implement an artificial intelligence tool to search through the content generated by Robohelp. They issued several guidelines for information structure, including the metadata to be used. Is it possible, in addition to the existing ones (title, description, language, etc.) to create other types of metadata that could be retrieved by the AI search engine?Thank you very much!
I upgraded to RoboHelp 2020.8.34 early this year. After generating my outputs, our dev team noticed that the size of the projects were significately larger than before because of the addition of .gz files. Are these files necessary? If not, is there a way to disable them from being generated as part of the output?
Hi! The MANUAL process for exporting a map file (.h) is documented at https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/context-sensitive-help.html . In need this file for context help from my app. The map .h file is apparently NOT generated when I generate the Frameless output of my project. Can this be scripted somehow? Ultimately I will run RoboHelp from the command line to build the output and create a package that will be consumed by my app, but this package also needs the map .h file. // Erik
I added Previous and Next [page] buttons to the header of my frameless topic pages, but nothing is happening when they are clicked. The buttons should be based on navigation and not on browser sequence. As you can see in the following screenshot, I used "history.go(-1)" as the Previous button javascript, which is the same code that worked prior to converting to a frameless output. I also tried:previous()history.back()window.history.back()goBack() andhistory.go(+1)forward()history.forward()window.history.forward()goForward() Does the frameless output require different settings?
I am trying to publish a PDF from RoboHelp Version 2022.0.346, but it seems it needs Java 1.8(64-bit) to work. But I find this java stuff pretty confusing. Apparently the latest java version 21. And Java 1.8 is supposedly version 8. Which is still a far cry from version 21? I can download the Java file - but what am I supposed to do with it? Considering this is a program for creating Help files, I believe I would expect something more helpful than this text from the System Requirements: Trying the, poorly spelled, second option for installing the JAVA HOME environment led me to dialogue where the option for a Java Home Path did not exist?
Hello everyone.I need to know what my customers are searching for when they use the search engine. This will allow me to know if the topics I decide to cover are relevant and also to find new topics to write about. If Robohelp doesn't do this natively, can you recommend any workarounds or tools that could do the job?For the record, awstat doesn't give me any information and I'm trying to stop using Google Analytics.I am using RH2022 and my output is frameless. Thanks for your answers.
@Amebr @Peter GraingeI am trying to set up a breadcrumbs trail when generating the word document. I have already managed to set the breadcrumbs trail correctly in the CHM. This screen shots are for the word settings. Do you have any suggestion how to do it? Thanks in advance
I am currently using RoboHelp 2022. When I generate an HTML5 output, the first section in my table of contents is expanded by default with all other sections collapsed. Is there a way to change this default so that the first section is collapsed as well? Thank you!
I have a large project with topics that I reuse between various printed doc outputs. RoboHelp 2019 would adjust the headings according to the TOC so that a topic could be at one level in on document (e.g., H2) and a different level in a different document (e.g., H3). There was an option to take care of this. Then, in RoboHelp 2020, the printed doc hierarchy did not work the same way. The headings themselves determined the doc hierarchy entirely. This was problematic when I wanted to share topics between outputs (which was often). To solve it, I had to create extra topics that were heading only in some cases and add multiple headings (with different heading levels) to some topics with conditional build tages to determine which one to show in which layout. Overall, this is a messy solution.I was excited to see new options in RoboHelp 2022: Readjust heading levels as in the source TOC hierarchy and Add or replace heading from the source TOC to maintain the hierarchy options. In fact, I wa
Hi I've purchased a one-year plan for the RoboHelp Multiplatform Enterprise version, and I've installed the corresponding version on my system.Despite having a one-year subscription, the system indicates that there are "X" days remaining for the trial version. Buy Now. Please could you help me with this. I want to use Adobe Robohelp -Version 2022.3.93. What this means "Your administrator hasn’t assigned any apps or services to your account. Hi, I am working on an existing help file in Robohelp 2020 and will be adding more topics and images. All of the current images were saved in same place by the previous user. So they are not organized. I'd like to organize these images into different files. Is there a way to relink them after I've done a reorg? Thanks, Julianna
