A search on the internet clearly shows that Adobe has been making extremely poor decisions with Adobe Photo Express. Despite the massive backlash, Abobe does NOT seem to have not learned it’s lesson! Today, when opening my Acrobat Reader to view a PDF while on a conference call, a popup appeared that was trying to force me to install Adobe Photo Express. It took me several minutes for us to figure out how to get rid of the popup as the only option presented was to install it, which I was unwilling to do. I could not access my PDFs until I got rid of it. We finally found the tiny checkbox to close the popup. This is ridiculous! You are making it near impossible to prevent the installation of this unwanted bloatware. If I wanted to install this application, I would have! I would not be writing this if I got an email suggesting the application, but this popup message is malicious! This is what viruses do, not legitimate software from a reputable company. This needs to STOP! Why do you wan
Windows 11 machines, the C:\Windows\Installer folder gets dozens of 1gb .msi files every month? They keep downloading to the folder and never disappear. Some machines have filled up over 300gb of these files hitting that folder. Any idea what might cause it? It's not a folder we can just willy nilly delete stuff from...any ideas?
I want to prevent Adobe from automatically opening PDF files I download from Microsoft Edge. The suggested solution is to use CTRL+K to open Preferences and then uncheck the box titled “Always open PDFs downloaded from the web”. However, the screenshot below shows that this option does not exist for me at all. Please help.

Hi all, since installing the October 2026 cumulative update KB5126646 (OS build 26100.33650) on our Windows Server 2025 Remote Desktop Session Hosts, Adobe Acrobat shows a permanently spinning busy cursor as long as it is open. This affects all users on the servers. What happens:AcroCEF.exe keeps spawning child processes that crash immediately and are restarted in an endless loop. Process Explorer shows new AcroCEF child processes starting and terminating every second. The busy cursor comes from these constant process starts.Event log (Application, Event ID 1000), repeated many times:Faulting application name: AcroCEF.exe, version: 26.2.22301.0Faulting module name: libcef.dll, version: 112.7.0.0, time stamp: 0x631bae2dException code: 0x80000003Fault offset: 0x00000000034b4e33Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\AcroCEF\AcroCEF.exeFaulting module path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\AcroCEF\libcef.dllEnvironment:Windows Server 2025, RDS session h
Cuando quiero abrir un link con una información que me envían del trabajo me sale un error que dice "No se ha podido descargar el archivo. Guarde el archivo en el almacenamiento local y a continuación intente abrirlo" Qué significa eso? Antes me abrían con normalidad
Hi,I have tried using the assistant but it wasn’t very helpful in this instance. We have multiple RDS hosts and user will report that Adobe has crashed. It produces an error "Something went wrong - A running instance of Acrobat has caused an error". I have created a DMP file I would like to submit to support but I am unable to find how to do this.Is someone able to point me in the right direction? Or I can provide a link to the DMP file if someone on here is able to review it.TIA.Rob

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help with a frustrating display issue I'm seeing in Acrobat Reader on my Windows 11 machine. I've noticed that the text in many of my PDFs appears jagged and slightly pixelated. It's not unreadable, but it's very harsh on the eyes, especially compared to how crisp it should be. The strange part is: If I open the exact same PDF file in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, the fonts are perfectly smooth and render correctly. The problem seems to be with all fonts, not just one specific type. I've already gone into Preferences > Page Display and my "Smooth Text" setting is set to "For Monitor." I have tried switching this to "None" and back, and have also tried the other options, but it makes no difference. My graphics drivers are up-to-date, and my system (i7, 16GB RAM, SSD) and high-resolution display (1920x1080) are more than capable. It seems to be an issue specific to Acrobat's rendering engine. Has a
Today when I try to use Adobe Reader I get a pop-up about installing Adobe Express Photos. I have a practice of never clicking on pop-ups, but I cannot close the window or use escape to close the window. The only thing I can do is go to TasK Manager and end task. How do I get rid of this annoying pop up. At this point I cannot use Adobe Reader.
Hello,We are experiencing an issue with certificate selection in Adobe Acrobat Reader and would like to know if there is a supported way to manage which certificates are displayed in the digital signing dialog. In our organization, users have multiple certificates available in their Windows Certificate Store (Current User\Personal\My):An internal corporate signing certificate used for internal business processes and corporate applications. A qualified digital signature certificate issued by an external trusted provider, used for legally valid document signing. The problem is that Adobe Acrobat Reader displays both certificates when users sign PDF documents. Since the certificates often appear very similar to end users, they frequently select the wrong one and sign documents with the internal corporate certificate instead of their qualified certificate. The internal corporate certificate cannot be removed from the Windows Certificate Store, because it is also required by other applications
I have installed Adobe acrobat reader on my Mac. When no PDF files are open, I see it automatically opens a “welcome” screen, the default page being the Recent tab. This tab contains advertisements which I don’t like so I would like to hide this tab or perhaps the whole default screen When acrobat reader launches. Can I find a setting to do that in the preferences? Architecture: x86_64Processor: IntelBuild: 25.1.20643.0AGM: 7.1.17CoolType: 10.0.7JP2K: 4.0.2.54782
I have no idea how this happened, but it's the most frustrating thing when I use adobe reader primarily to read research papers that require selecting and highlighting text...my select tool has turned into a crosshair cursor and it won't change back to text selector when I hover over text. When I attempted to select with the crosshair it creates a blue box, which is no use to me. I have no idea how to change it back. I've even uninstalled the adobe reader software and reinstalled it. Is this a glitch with an update?...PLEASE HELP.
Tested and validated on Adobe Acrobat Reader DC v2026.001.21662 (Windows 11) 1. Context and privacy warningSince v26, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC includes a generative AI Assistant. When a PDF is opened, the assistant automatically suggests contextual questions (e.g. "Why is this information important?").⚠️ Warning — data transfer to AdobeIf the AI Assistant is enabled and the user interacts with it, the content of the PDF is sent to Adobe's AI servers. This applies to any open document, including confidential documents or documents subject to legal obligations (NDAs, personal data, professional secrecy, etc.). It may be recommended to disable this feature in some professional environments.Below are two registry-based methods, depending on whether you want a hard lockdown or just a default-off setting. 2. METHOD 1 - Global lockdown (machine level)This method completely blocks the AI Assistant for all users of the machine. Users cannot re-enable it from the preferences (the Generative AI ca
I want to copy an image from one PDF document to another, but Acrobat does not preserve its original size. Instead, the pasted image is at least twice as large as expected. The problem occurs regardless of how I copy the image. It makes no difference whether I use the Snapshot tool in Acrobat Reader or copy the image from Photoshop or Paint.I have also tried scaling down the image in Photoshop before copying it, but Acrobat still pastes it at the same excessively large size. This suggests that the problem is not with the source image itself, but with how Acrobat handles pasted images. Why can't I control the size of a pasted image? I should be able to paste an image at its intended size or specify its dimensions, rather than having Acrobat impose an excessively large, seemingly fixed size. Please provide a way to control the size of pasted images or fix this behaviour. As it stands, copying and pasting images into PDFs is unnecessarily frustrating and impractical.

Hi everyone,I'm running into an issue with external web links inside a PDF document viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader (latest desktop version on Windows 11).We compiled our onboarding documentation from InDesign/Word and included a direct link to our web resource:https://onyxgrowthlabs.com/faq/When clicking this link inside the document: The cursor changes to the hand icon as expected. However, when clicked, either nothing happens or Acrobat hangs for a couple of seconds without launching the default browser (Chrome/Edge). Other standard links (like google.com) appear to open fine, but this specific URL structure or protocol doesn't trigger the browser prompt. I've already checked: Preferences > Trust Manager > Internet Access from PDF Files (it is set to allow web access). Tried running Acrobat Reader as Administrator. Is there a specific security or URL formatting requirement in Acrobat Reader that blocks certain secure (HTTPS) subdirectories or causes external links to sile
There is no option for me to change to Chinese under Language item. Can I just download the Chinese version for the Adobe Acrobat Reader direct from your website instead of Language Change afterwards to save time and effort?
All of a sudden, pdf documents that have existed for various periods of time have a little brown box superimposed over the Adobe icon and I receive a message that the document cannot be opened because it is either not a supported file type or has been damaged. The message also states that to create an Adobe PDF document, I should go to the source application and print the document to Adobe PDF. No clue what this means. There seems to be no obvious pattern in that some of these documents were converted to pdfs (by me) from Word documents, some were pdfs downloaded from different sources. The only thing that has changed was a power outage last week, but everything else appears to be unchanged. Some of these are critical documents that really need to be accessed.
I've seen this come up a few times on a google search. Attempted to delete and re-install a few times to no avail.I ran through the suggestions on this page:https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/adobe-acrobat-pro-not-responding-and-constanly-crashing-windows-11/m-p/13007623#M366676 but this did not resolve either. I'm not doing anything too demanding. Literally opening a single pdf and have to wait 10-15 seconds of Not Responding before I can do anything.Running windows 11 64-bitI've tried running in administrator mode (which is annoying as you have to always press OK on the dialogue box before opening) and as others have pointed out, cannot run in compatibility mode as the options only go up to windows 8. Bizarrely, I had no problems until I upgrade to a paid version (so I could get signatures) and this is when I 1st started noticing the problem. Is this the reason? Or just coincidence
On our session host servers, Adobe Acrobat Reader (free version) auto updated to 2026.001.21367. Several users are now being prompted to log into Adobe. If they cancel, the program closes. Users should not need credentials to use a free program. I’ve had to change their default reader to be Edge just so they can continue to work.I’ve tried the following:!--startfragment>Disabled new acrobat To fix Adobe Reader freezing, immediately try disabling Protected Mode in Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and unchecking "Enable Protected Mode at startup". Edit > Preferences > General 'Messages from/to Adobe' uncheck 'Show me messages when launch Adobe Acrobat' This is a common fix, but ‘Sync preferences’ is no longer an option in this latest version.Edit > Preferences Select Adobe Online Services in the categories list.Uncheck the option Sync preferences across devices and document services. I can’t imagine uninstalling/reinstalling will fix it, since it’s the lates
Windows Defender identifies our Adobe Reader 26.002.21931 as vulnerable. It points to the following paths and applications. Is there a plan to resolve these vulnerabilities?['C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\OSSLLibs\AdobeFips.exe','c:\program files (x86)\adobe\acrobat reader dc\reader\plug_ins\libcrypto-3.dll','c:\program files (x86)\adobe\acrobat reader dc\reader\plug_ins\libssl-3.dll']
