1. Double click on missing media.

2. Attempt to search for file using Windows Search function in upper right hand side

3. Nothing happens

Windows 11. Confirmed same happening with a coworker AE 2024.4.1

Windows search functions normally in Explorer.

Does that happen if you right click on the missing file and choose replace footage ?

does purging the memory and disk cashe or resetting AE preferences settings make any difference ?

Purging makes no difference. Something is wrong with Adobes implementation of the file open dialog box.
